I can only speak for myself of course, so this shouldn’t be construed as server opinion. After the fairly blatant collaboration this week between ya’ll and BG, I don’t want anything to do with this.

Meh, hardly. It wasn’t happening before this week really, but it’s fairly common knowledge right now. Ask around a bit.

Personal opinions of either server aside, an organized alliance with TC is illogical due to the fact that we need them to be in third place, by a considerable amount, in order to gain maximum rating for tier 1. Sorry, but the system was designed by a masochist that enjoys watching servers get beaten into the ground for a few decimal points of rating.

I feel you. When we moved up to T2, you have no idea how happy I was to be red, simply so that we started in a different position than green!

While I’m not sure, I’ve been told that Blackgate has something to do with the entrance to the Underworld.

Maybe we should link the thread from when Blackgate entered tier 1. The whole stacking conversation was beaten to death back then. They actually called us turtle gate for a while. It was nerfed a week later though, go figure. It has been just another tool in the toolbox in top tier EU for months. This is not a new thing.

Of course it’s a perfectly fine tactic. Part of entering a higher tier is adapting to new strategies. Consider it a challenge to overcome. I would welcome the opportunity.

Technically wont win focusing on each other anyways. The idea of focusing on the leader is to deprive them of getting the potential points they need. If we ignored you and went after each other, it more or less means you can do what you want. It makes no sense to focus on each other.

Doesn’t make sense for SoR because you are already in 2nd and want to keep it that way. BUT it does make sense for TC if they actually want to progress and move into 2nd place. Afterall, you have to be 2nd before you can become 1st. TC ignoring SoR only helps SoR hold 2nd place while it guarantees that TC will stay in third.

What ends up happening is 2nd and 3rd fight amongst themselves, allowing 1st to steamroll in potential points. Fighting for 2nd doesn’t work in anyones favour except for 1st place. If both 2nd and 3rd set their sights for 1st, they serve a dual purpose, they not only work on getting themselves potential points, but they deprive 1st from theirs preventing a massive point lead. The 2nd and 3rd place would be smarter to focus on 1st to actually have a chance in a match. It also keeps things much more interesting and competitive.

Easy to say from a second place perspective, but if TC ever wants to progress, they have to focus SoR. What is much more likely is that the people on TC will do what they want because they’re not a hivemind.

SoS lost PRX and most of Merc, SBI lost all of its asian guilds, JQ has been bleeding guilds for months. The only reason they stay in Tier 1 is because they’ve fallen together.

Player population census says Tarnished Coast #1 and Blackgate #3 for overall populations. TC has its RPers, SoS (#2) has its oceanic PvErs, BG has a bunch of WvW fanatics. I really think you guys have the largest WvW population and I believe Sanctum of Rall is #3 perhaps behind Sea of Sorrows.

JQ and SBI have no business being in Tier 1, they haven’t been Tier 1 worthy servers for months but they stay there thanks to a very poor scoring system. I can’t wait till SBI falls back to Tier 2 and we tear them apart, hopefully it happens next week. I know I am saving all my superior siege for that matchup.

You overestimate our coverage, and our WvW population. While we do have a lot of dedicated WvW fanatics, they make up a minority compared to the high population of PVE players that happen to see us winning and hop into WvW. We’re a solid server, but if we ever actually get into tier 1, it will become clear where our coverage gaps lie.

I would love to see a TC-SoR alliance against us. It is, in my opinion, the intended course of action in WvW, and it makes these aging match ups far more competitive.

I wholeheartedly thank the TC forum warriors saints for successfully drowning out a lot of the hate in this thread with a good attitude and maturity. You guys are still my favorites.

Calm down. Dragons Tooth doesn’t require line of sight to hit. It’s not an exploit, just a broken skill that Anet needs to fix.

Because he was under the ground, it was very hard to target him and report. We have no other way of knowing who he is or providing proof that this incident occurred.

And short of us breaching your bay to actively seek him out, neither do we. I don’t really know what you expect us to accomplish here. Obviously this behavior is unacceptable, but we have no way to moderate our server or the people on it.

There isn’t even a way to report a specific user for hacking. All that can be done is submitting whatever evidence you have to the email address Anet has set up and hope for the best.

I noticed that me and all others in the zerg last night were lagging hard when we were BG’s area.

We didn’t have THAT many players… and BG certainly didn’t have a lot on at that hour.

We’ve had more on both sides fighting without these issues when we were in T3… and it doesn’t happen in SOR’s area… there were times when it was an 8v8 or less just clearing out a small group from a supply camp… and it was still locking people out of their skills. Anyone know what was/is causing this?

It’s been happening to us too recently. Attacks would would be going off right on cue for a while, then take 5 or 6 seconds to activate, seemingly at random

Being on IoJ is suffering, eversince the weekly matches started IoJ has probably only won 1 out of it’s 16 matches. Hope T3 could make a change.

This. I really, really respect the core players left on IoJ. If I recall T2 for a good while was the stomping ground of whoever out of SBI/JQ/ET that fell to T2 that week. After ET imploded it became SoS playground, and now Blackgate. Takes character to keep on fighting in a competitive tier you know you almost can’t win.

T2 a stomping ground for BG? You must be kidding. They have 24/7 coverage against both SoR/IoJ and they still can barely hold the lead against us (SoR). If anything they are scraping by because they can hold the maps for a couple hours each day while we all sleep. Once we get a night crew we can take anybody on. Don’t think so lightly of SoR, we are T1 material.

If SoR was t1 material, they’d be able to win T2 right? And stop over inflating BGs coverage.

edit: You realize no server can win T1 with just NA prime coverage right?

I agree… If you can’t win T2, you can’t be at T1. And if SoR ever go to T1 as the way it is, they would most likely get stomped as Blackgate was while we had only JQ and SBI in there (I pretty much fear SoS more than those).

If they think BG has solid 24/7 coverage, I’m not sure how they could ever handle T1. Also I am sick of SoR players claiming BG “barely” holds onto a lead when it is a blatant lie with zero facts to back it up.

I really dislike SoR. I wish that they were the ones dropping and not IoJ. Most people from SoR i see here sound arrogant and think they are superior to BG, even though they never won a match. Maybe when BG go back up, JQ (or SBI, who knows) can teach SoR a thing or two…

Don’t mistake the vocal minority on a forum for the opinions of an entire server. Probably a good 5% of the population actually post here, so it wouldn’t be accurate to assume that they all feel the same way.

Regardless of what they say about “if such and such was this” and “if the only people in the world that were allowed to play guild wars lived in north america” they’d be winning. But as a matter of fact, that’s not how the game works. It’s not how the world works. And if they want to be able to compete against any server above them they need to learn this and adapt.

It probably wont matter because the Blackgate bandwagon got a lot bigger this week because instead of it being a fairly balanced match, now BG has 24/7 coverage with 75+ zergs in all four BLs.

I don’t know for sure, but it seems like IOJ dropped and BG got stronger … did a bunch of people from IOJ ragequit to BG?

If we had 75 person zergs in all borderlands, along with 24/7 coverage, we’d blow SoS out of the water. I’d actually love to see where all these people are since we never have any queues except for EBG, even at reset, and during a good portion of the day we don’t have a single point on two of the four maps.

Very true. We can see what’s happening right now when IoJ isn’t on the map. The whole WvW system falls apart when one server leaves the fray.

Because the scoring system is broken, and flawed. You gained points because the first place server (in this case Blackgate) didn’t win by as many points as they had previously. You will always gain points unless they continually top the score they win by every week. Which is impossible. With the current system’s lack of progression, there could be a server in tier 5 that’s as good as tier 2, and we would never know it.

Moving on, I had a lot of fun fighting IoJ, and hope the best for their server. Good luck in tier 3.

He’s talking about the broken and blatantly flawed scoring system. If it was the intention of Anet to have the same people fighting for over a month, the matches would be lasting over a month. The current system punishes the winning team by forcing them to lose rating, and rewards the losing team by giving them rating.

It sucks all three servers into a blackhole until they are rated exactly the same, and it forces the first seat server to beat the third seat server into a coma just to break even. Hence the lack of progression. It’s also quite stale. Who wants to fight the same servers and guilds for over a month?

Millenium match up site says TC is in. Really, I think that is best for everyone. I obviously can’t speak for IoJ, but I know if Blackgate was in your position for the past month, we’d welcome a break, and a fresh match. I wish IoJ the best in all their future matches, and let us all enjoy the days left in this one. With a minimal amount of forum warrioring (wishful thinking, I know).

You know what would be interesting and maybe put some of these issues to rest on the forums between you and Indo? You should set up a 10v10, 20v20, 30v30 or whatever and do something like best 3 out of 5 for forum bragging rights. The winner can then feel free to talk about dominating the other all they like. It would be interesting to watch Icoa vs TW or KNT vs TW… and finally stop the silly forum trolling.

How long will we stay tier 2? Hard to say, probably until someone in tier 1 or SOR gets burnt out. Until then, expect us to stay Green for a long time, no matter what the scores are on Tuesday.

Unless one of the tier 1 servers self destructs and goes +5 PPT for a month straight, we will never leave tier 2. Ever. We lose rating for doing anything but winning by 100k, and in order to not lose rating the week after that, we have to beat the previous lead. It’s impossible to progress at this point.

If I was SOR I would be more worried about IOJ out shining you again.

I don’t think that’s entirely accurate. In the beginning of this match up, Sanctum of Rall was legitimately winning. The server push was successful because everyone pulled extra hours, staying up and fighting until when we’d normally be waking up. Our continued success seems to be more of a momentum thing at this point.

I certainly hope SoR comes out and fights like this every week going forward, because from the looks of things, we’ll be fighting each other till the ends of time.
