Depends on what kind of farming. If you’re farming events where you’ll have many other people participating, it would be great to go with an AoE-based build. I think the Guardian with a Staff works wonders since their auto-attack is a front cone AoE. However, a Warrior with an Axe in the off-hand works well. As with a Ranger, I never played one so I can’t say for certain but I have seen Rangers drop traps at choke points during the events, which would allow them to tag the mobs and earn loot from it.

I ended up on Jade Quarry mostly from a voting session from my guild before the game came out. It was obviously full in the beginning, but I think it’s starting to settle for a bit. Fortunately, everyone in my guild managed to make into the server.
In addition, I like the name and in GW1, Jade Quarry is a competitive mission in the Luxon territory in the Factions campaign. Being a Ritualist that wore mostly the Elite Luxon Armor before Eye of the North came out, I got quite attached to the Luxons.

I find that for most materials, there is usually more than one place to farm for them. Some are more efficient than others, but I find that if the circuit of mobs cover a much larger area, then the likelihood of the farming throttle code kicking in would be much lower.

I think the intend is to buy the Cultural Armor and use transmute stones so that it has stats that actually matter for your character’s trait build.
Sure it is, but 120 gold is kind of a big thing for a skin.
Also it doesn’t looks so super special, that it could be something to work towards to when you already have everything else, but more it is a regular armor skin some people might want to pick up like any other armor.
Atm it just sucks if the cultural Tier 3 is your taste.
Funny you mention that because I thought Obsidian Armor in GW1 was a bit overboard and I never did purchase it, even though I probably have farmed up all the Ectos to purchase it. I just never did find it quite appealing.
Back to the subject of Culture armor, I do like the Norn version … so I wouldn’t mind blowing off all that cash at some point. That and my Ritualist in GW1 wore the Norn set.

Eventually, most farming spots will become known to the public and there will be more competition for drops. Fortunately, there’s no such thing as kill-stealing in this game. In other words, go ahead and smack the crap out of the other farmer’s mobs. I’m sure they won’t mind. :P

Making the Achievement score visible out in the open would make it too much like the GearScore fiascos from WoW. On paper, it looks like a brilliant idea, but it just doesn’t work due to the nature of the players.
Real levels, on the other hand, might be on the grey area. Personally, I can tell if they’re 80 based on what they’re wearing. If they’re wearing crafted Exotic gear that has not been transmuted, then they’re more likely to be 80. If they’re using an Elite Skill, especially a race-specific skill, then they’re more likely higher than 30. If they’re using a Tier 2 Elite Skill, then they’re probably in their mid-50’s or higher.
Going back to the subject of Achievement points, also consider that points are account-wide. A low-level player with a lot of achievement points may just be someone with a lot of characters that performed different story lines.

I don’t mind bigger kittens. The bigger the cuter! :P
With that said, I’m sure some genius out there might find a way to parse the combat log. I’d say just give it some time.

There will be dynamic events that will require a much larger group of people to tackle it. It’ll be explicitly labeled as “group event”. Most of these generally involve killing something really big, or defending an NPC from an unusually large horde of enemies.

I currently have:
a 80 Norn Warrior
a 17 Sylvari Mesmer
a Human Engineer that I have yet to level
I think the two remaining slots would be:
an Asuran Elementalist
a Charr Thief

Whell Ari, you are half right.
1, Yes a cooldown is a good idea, but it actually turns into a bother instead of helpfull in the end.
When you want to make a run but palyers leave becosue something happens (it can always do) and you are cooldowned you get sokittenpissed. You noly have to wait a day to make the instance you so desired. And you might not even have time for it later.
The “you are saved to the dungeon” is the most terrible text i could see in the game in the last years.
This works better with Dungeon farm based games, where you are “delayed” in progress with gear. (exacly as you sead)
2,Agree totally
3,Cheers
4, Whell discuraging “rage and hate” is a good thing. I also think like you, ragers and haters are born from the setting of the game mostly, and not from base behavior.
There are real cases when there is 1 person destroying the mood and the party and kick does help then. But its actually rare. Most players get like that from the frustration mostly.-So basically the “debuff” from the “leave” or kick is a way to drastic measure. I pesonall had the tipical crappy team who did the dungeon like 2 times and i alredy done it like 300 times and wont listen and in the end I get kicked for some stupid reson they are responsible actually. And i cant even find another party becosue of a stupid debuff i get from idiots?
Vote kick is a bad otipon also. Players just midlessly click anything just to get on with dungeon. There is no real voting, mostly the only decent players get kicked who dare to say out the truth laud. And remember…stupidity is always in vote favor. Also, who makes someone in the team more suited to Judge others then anyone other? Noone. So sorry i cant agree with this. Atleast not fully. The idea itself is not bad trough, but not in the way we seen it so faar.
I know that feeling of being artificially removed from the group just for speaking your mind. I have had that happen in almost every MMO I have played. Walking out or being booted out— it leads to the same conclusion. Sometimes, you just can’t help the stupid. There will always be “bads” as the hardcore players put it. It would be up to themselves to “unbad” their abilities; and seeing that Guild Wars 2 relies heavily on skill, I’m sure those who find themselves to be bad in the game will either seek guidance in this Players Helping Players forum, or simply find an easier game.
However, I do believe that if ArenaNet does implement some kind of LFG matchmaking system, it would be intuitive, easy-to-use, somewhat revolutionary compared to most LFG systems. After seeing what GW2’s version of the typical Auction House, I have some faith that they have some groundwork how it can work without shattering a close-knit server-wide community; while making non-dungeon content still relevant. Instead of abolishing something, I say revolutionize it by taking out as much of the “suck” from it as possible, and douse it with some “awesomesauce.”

I’m going to re-iterate something because I think a lot of people may have assumed this, but a proposed LFG tool doesn’t have to be cross-world like the Trading Post. In fact, I’m sure an option could be implemented to only accept those who are from your own home world, or from select worlds where your friends or guildmates reside. Heck! Maybe even make the default option for that enabled so that a world-based community continues to stick together. And seeing that you don’t have to wait long for a Tank or Healer, your queue time should not be drastically increased because you chose to limit your player choices to those within your world.
With that said, you’re more likely to run into those same players again outside of a dungeon. You’ll still participate in some way, shape, or form with the community of players placed on your World, and perhaps continue with holding that bond with that community; and maybe talk about how awesome they were in your World-specific sub-forum on the official GW2 forums that might open up in the future.

@Nekroseth
1) Not if there is a cooldown on the LFG matchmaker. In most MMOs, there’s generally a cooldown before running the same dungeon (or just any dungeon for that matter) after the previous one has been completed. This can range between a few hours to a whole day; however, you could still group up the traditional way regardless of time remaining on cooldown. Although, in subscription-based MMOs, that sort of cooldown is placed so that you get suckered into playing more and keeping you subscribed for more time to obtain your gear. However, in GW2’s case, I suppose the anti-farming code from GW1 could kick in if you run the very same dungeon (and even same exploreable path) over and over again.
2) It’s easier to find “a group” in GW2 because there are not dedicated tank or healer roles. “A good group” however can be tricky to find.
3) I agree with this part.
4) Not necessarily, especially when there are measures in place that would discourage rage-quitters, and tools that allow those to vote that d-bag out of the party and replace that one with someone with a bit more patience. If I recall from WoW, if you leave a party early or get voted off the party, you’ll get a Deserter debuff that prevents you from using the LFG tool for X amount of minutes. I know TERA is like that as well and maybe a few others. I think if the debuff is high enough, I think that player would think twice before deserting or just being a general hater. Of course, there should be ways of minimizing that vote-kick feature from abuse, such as a cooldown or even a threat of suspension.
LFG Chat would make sense, provided that it’s used for what’s intended for. My experience, however, is that it ends up turning into a general off-topic chat channel after a while. In that case, a GM could moderate the channel when it comes time.

I find that the “best” DPS builds for a Warrior are also very glass cannon-like, meaning that you forgo so many defensive stats that you’ll probably get crushed quick if you’re not careful.
I do know, however, that common soloing builds tend to revolve picking up a trait in the Arms tree that allows you to get 70 Precision per equipped signet, and then equipping a signet in each utility slot. This obviously increases your crit rating but reduces your effectiveness in party-wide support when it comes to dungeons.
Personally, I like to go with either Sword/Axe combo (Axe in Off-Hand for AoE support), which is great for stacking Bleeds if you have a Condition-heavy gear set; or a Greatsword for primarily raw damage. As far as ranged weapons go, Rifles are great for single-target damage while Longbows are great for AoE.

Sometimes, we have some bad streaks, but almost always, the loot in dungeons (aside from the helm at the end of Story mode) has been Soulbound on Equip, meaning I could pass on that loot to others in the party, and we can trade accordingly. All it takes is a bit of communication amongst peers.
I am Fleeting Flash, in-game dungeon cosplayer of Reddit Refugees [RR] .
I can second this. I keep a few things in my 12-slot Safe Box to avoid accidental selling and just realized the contents are shown at the Mystic Forge. Like Shivo, I almost dumped a few pieces of my Conditions set in the Mystic Forge— and that stuff wasn’t cheap to make!
I am Fleeting Flash, in-game dungeon cosplayer of Reddit Refugees [RR] .
I can see the argument of having and not having an LFG and I respect both sides. Personally, I’d rather not stand in front of the dungeon and spam /map or /say chat in an attempt to look for a group. I’d rather spend some of that quality time waiting by doing other things while my time comes to be sent to do my dungeon thing. If you have ever been in a semi-hardcore raiding guild, or just any organized raiding guild, then you’ll often be told to stop what you’re doing and join in on the raid, often because you signed up for it and committed your time to the event (or your raid leader is /gkick happy psycho, which I would feel bad for you if it’s the latter). The same concept could apply to the LFG, except it’s more automatic and could take time based on your chosen role (though in GW2’s case, you just need 5 competent people who know how to utilize their traits and abilities to the fullest as opposed to a 3 DPS, a Tank, and a Healer).
Yes, I do have a guild but sometimes, I may not always be on at the same time that my guild runs something so either I end up pugging content or just doing something else.
Alright, it would be nice to have more options than just flagging yourself for LFG. For example, putting in some kind of description or clicking some kind of check box of what the purpose of the group is. In this state, when I put myself on LFG, it could be for practically ‘anything’ not just for dungeons but for farming groups, chilling groups, or just grouping for the sake of grouping. If anything, I think the current LFG system could use a bit more refinement. It doesn’t have to be automatic like the queue systems in WoW and other MMOs, but at least a bit more intuitive and robust than the current form, perhaps tack on a few options like restrict party members to those from your World only, or avoid duplicate professions from signing up to your party. I’m sure there could be a lot of different ideas that not only makes grouping easier, but still encourages some form of communication amongst party members.

I wouldn’t be surprised that there’s some kind of farming throttle code that kicks in if you farm the same spot for too long. It was there in Guild Wars 1.
With that said, what I’ve been doing is going through different areas to farm instead of one concentrated patch of mobs. For instance, for Potent Blood, I would farm the Skelks south of Crucible of Eternity in Mount Maelstrom. Then I would hit up the Minotaurs and Griffons in Frostgorge Sound. If the drops start to diminish, then I would put on a Magic Find set of do some of the events around the 70+ zones in hopes for Rare drops so I can salvage them for Ectos.
Basically put, you just have to mix it up a bit.

I played a Char Mesmer on one of the Beta stress tests. I thought I was awesome for the few hours the server was up!
I am Fleeting Flash, in-game dungeon cosplayer of Reddit Refugees [RR] .
I have yet to see the Culture Armor from other races, but I do like the Heavy Culture Armor for the female Norn, so I might end up getting that and transmuting the look of that armor into my crafted Exotic gear (assuming I don’t like the look of the crafted Exotic armor, which I have yet to make).
I am Fleeting Flash, in-game dungeon cosplayer of Reddit Refugees [RR] .
I’m wondering the same too. Is it intentional to require Ectos to get from 375 to 400 (well, efficiently anyway as opposed to crafting lesser quality gems). It seemed kind of awkward, especially since the tooltip doesn’t it would be used for the Jeweler trade.
I am Fleeting Flash, in-game dungeon cosplayer of Reddit Refugees [RR] .
I’m thinking that Magic Find caps out somewhere. I was under the impression that almost all my drops would be blue quality or better but I still get the occasional grey and white. I can get to 100% Magic Find with gear and a food buff. Could it go past 100%? Or maybe a percentage of something else?
The stat might require a bit more research, but I think Rika’s suggestion might be something to consider.

I knew the Apatia story arch seemed rather tacky … I guess I didn’t really notice it initially since I play a Norn character (although, I joined the Priory instead of the Vigil), but looking back through my Personal Story, her placement does seem kind of strange.
