The meta power Rev with Shiro/Glint should, more often than not, be trying to be support itself. It works just fine soloQ; you want to be hitting up team and mid fights to hand out dem boons while being able to pressure a target with steady AA damage and some burst. It’s a more than capable solo duelist (player depending, ofc) and mobile enough to do both in a match, but you should probably be prioritizing team fights a bit more – especially if the team comp comes up short of other support like Druid or Tempest.
That said, condi is indeed the big weakness for this build, and if you’re really feeling too vulnerable I’d leave the sigils and runes alone and swap Invocation in for Retribution. Remember that you lose stab on dodge but you do get stunbreak on legend swap, which will help make the tradeoff a bit better.
I’m not a great player by any stretch, but neither am I awful (somewhere between average and above average, hit Ruby without a ton of problem last season and probably could have made Diamond if I had tried), and I actually found Rev more than a bit tricky to pick up. I tried the condi Mallyx in S1 and balancing resistance with trying to put on much real damage felt really difficult. Switched to the power shiro build for S2, and while things go much better, it still feels like I have to be on my toes more than with other classes or I’ll mismanage and be dead. I’ve even found this to be true for HoT PvE stuff, where I die way more than I ought to because I mess up.
Does this match other peoples’ experiences?
I think you’d wind up almost never using it… unlike other ranged weapons with similar abilities (I’m thinking of Thief SB and Engi rifle) there’s nothing on Hammer that benefits being close, and also nothing that then lets you get back out of close range. Not to mention that in the early betas, Phase Smash had no evade frames – you would use it on a target in melee with something else and get hit by all the AoE there on your way in and out. It was terrible.
Rev’s got good positioning tools between Axe 4, Staff 5 in a pinch, Mallyx leap and Shiro, besides.
I’ve had it since it first came out, but have yet to use it because of not having a dye channel (for characters that don’t look terrible with it taking off their hair). I’m extremely happy they finally added one!
Now, I vaguely remembered that I didn’t have the achievement from this World Boss before, but I wasn’t sure if I had actually finished it completely or not, because I don’t usually do bosses. But the other night I did a World Boss train and went through the Shaman/Maw chain twice – and I still don’t have the achievement. Got full credit for the individual event segments and got all my other rewards…
You can buy the ale on the Trading Post. No need to wait for the broken event. If you need the trinket, you’re kind of out of luck.
kitten . Right. Of course I’d forget that I’m actually waiting on the trinket, as I had the booze done already….
Still stuck, even after patch.
I just wanna get my booze on!
…have you guys seen his older videos and their forum threads?
The ones where he was way, way more polite in the video and especially in his posts?
He pretty much received the exact same reactions, from the same type or set of people.
If his tone doesn’t actually matter, why not go poking some bee hives for more traffic?
