yeah solo roamers dont want an unfair advantage… thats why most roamers gank people from behind or from stealth…. If players actually wanted a fair and even fight, they would goto custom arenas in spvp. WvW is not designed to be fair and balanced, Nor is it designed for GvG your point is full of holes

Now you’re just using GvG as your whipping post. Its not just about that, nor is it all about wanting “fair” fights. Its about wanting fun fights.

Most people realize that ppt is all about coverage, rather than being an indicator of skill. As such, they realize that sitting around getting shot by arrow carts while waiting for a ram to break a door is not only boring but also pointless. They would rather be mixing it up with other players, since that’s why they came to WvW in the first place.

So now, consider there a 40 man zerg shredding my borderlands that not only has my group outnumbered, but is also stat-buffed. What incentive is there for me to fight them, or for me to even be in WvW at all if it is only going to get me a repair bill? And don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind dying. I do it a lot. But all this buff is going to accomplish is squeezing the last tiny little drop of skilled play out of WvW by making it totally dependent on coverage.

Guys, I think we need to just accept that jump puzzles are fair game for anything and everything. Considering you can get free siege from them, there is no reason why anyone should be able to do it without being harassed.

Anyways, I haven’t had much of a chance to play this week. Can anyone post a score update?

Kaineng got one win a few weeks ago and it totally changed our mindset. All of a sudden, people forgot about the early days when all we had was Cliffside and we had to put all our time and siege into defending that one tower for as long as we could. Sure, its fun to win and put up big numbers on the scoreboard, but its more important to not let it take away from your fun when you can’t compete with the enemy numbers.

I don’t know if you realize it but you and I had a little fight in EB last night. It was just a little 3 v 3 throw down, but I know you were there because I occasionally check [PRO] tags to see if its anyone I recognize from the forums. Unfortunately my norn was naked and was quickly owned, but props to you for being a good fighter!

It’s not really worth reading these threads anymore. All they involve is guys bringing out their measuring sticks and seeing how big each other’s is.

I don’t think its a matter of servers working together. Sometimes, by nature of it being a 3 way fight, servers choose one target at a time and it turns out to be 2 on 1. This happens a lot at Stonemist especially. Last week I fought with defenders from Kaineng against zergs from both Devona and Ferguson inside the walls at the same time.

Thought I’d add mine. Not finished yet, but happy with what I have so far.

Everything that has been said is true, the bottom tiers are easily the best. Fighting is normally always enjoyable and intense.

However, that being said we would discourage any large guilds from moving to these servers. We are trying to build a WvW community, and it tends to disrupt things when we have a large influx and makes it not fun for all involved.

It was nice spending some quality time with you on our server, Kaineng. Although I was a little confused, with you being a PRO commander and all, as to why you would be in our mapchat addressing some of the most respected members of our server. But I’m sure you had good reasons for being there. Right?

I think this week was actually better for Kaineng than last week was. Winning was awesome, don’t get me wrong. But now hopefully the fair-weather players will go back to where they came from and we can get back to business.

I really can’t wait for round #3.

lol I was there for a little while. Our siege of Ferg’s keep in EB stalled hard and then Devona came in the back side. We were actually forced to defend Ferg’s keep for them for a little while to keep from getting sandwiched. Good times.

I know that stealth does not make them invulnerable, but with weapons that have no or limited aoe ability, like the shortbow, its near impossible to hit what you can’t see. The only option I have which I have been using, is when I see a thief getting towards low health, I swap to my warhorn and put the birds on them.

Again, this is just my opinion, but the point of the thief is high burst damage, right? So if I am able to survive a couple assaults from stealth where they take a ton of my health, I should be able to kill them. It should be a high-risk, high-reward class. Right now, it has possibly the lowest risk in the game, at least in WvW.

All this time I’ve been doing ALL those things wrong! Who would have thought? Thank you SO MUCH for pointing out how incredibly stupid I am. I would have NEVER thought of all this. Your post has made me realize the errors of my ways. Again, this has been so helpful because I literally do everything completely wrong.

If I do manage to survive your initial onslaught, and If I do manage enough damage to get you off of me, all you do is stealth and come right back at me. I don’t know how it could be considered remotely fair if I manage to do these things 4 times in a row and yet still can not down you.

And I never said I wanted Anet to take away stealth abilities. Just make them available less frequently. That’s all.

@waeren, you normally can’t aoe the entire cap circle unless you have a large zerg.

@thieves ITT, I don’t think most people want to nerf your damage, and I certainly don’t. What we want to nerf is the amount of stealth you have. The rendering issues account for 1 or maybe 2 seconds after you break stealth, but the real issue is that you can keep using stealth abilities before I can put enough damage on to down you. I play ranger, and if I ever get into a 1v1 with a thief its usually an automatic gg unless the thief is underleveled.

This is a good idea, but I would also consider giving Rangers the rifle. After all, its one of the few weapons only usable by two professions.

I might even go as far as saying they could swap out greatsword for the rifle, since the greatsword has little usage as it is now.

Sorry, but I think you are over-estimating if you think pets do 50% of your damage. They spend a long time doing nothing between attacks, they only have one ability that you can activate, they can only attack one target at a time, and most are melee, so they have to run between targets. If you don’t out-damage your pet then you need to focus on how you are attacking and what abilities you are using.

More and more it seems like the bottom of WvW is the best place to be. Grats to Devona for rallying this week and giving Kaineng and Fergs all we can handle. Its going to be a shame when one of us has to move up a level (although I wouldn’t mind seeing what the new and improved Kaineng or DR can do against the likes of Borlis Pass).

Just a heads up to those who may be new to this match-up in any of the three servers:

Forum members who exhibit arrogance or are just generally annoying are not representatives of the guilds or players in the Kaineng server. Most of us would rather just have a good time fighting the war.

Uh, no. Do please absolutely not reset WvW early. Down here at the bottom of the rankings Kaineng v Devona’s v Ferguson has been a great matchup, even when we (Kaineng) are not winning.

Cheers to everyone! This matchup has been ten times more fun than it was the last time around. No matter what people say about the numbers and all the excuses (including those coming from my server), all that matters is we have been having some great fights. Keep up the great competition guys!
