Yeah, but how many people are likely to shell out $60 for a game when their first experience with it is a gigantic lagfest of terribleness?
Honestly my experience was better during the midnight-prelaunch of the game, which is pretty sad; that only had crippling lag for about an hour before they fixed it up nicely.
Not to mention none of those trial players will EVER buy the game now after experiencing this event…
Also what’s the point of bumping a thread after 32 minutes on a forum where it takes 2+ hours to move to page 2?

Just got my guardian to 30 and 35 over the weekend so I ran AC story and AC explorer once each. Both of my groups did quite well, in fact we only had one total-wipe (everyone dead at once) and that was on explorer.
While the runs felt pretty smooth, I’m not sure I was playing my guardian optimally so I wanted to get some feedback from you guys. Here’s what I was running:
Staff/Mace + Shield
-“Hold the Line”
-“Save yourselves”
-Signet of Mercy
-Renewed Focus (Will definitely be going Tome of Courage once I get the skill points)
Overall I just didn’t feel that useful. While channeling Empower I felt like I was really contributing to my team (the might + heal is AWESOME), but the rest of the staff skills felt pretty ‘meh’ and the shield abilities felt downright useless. The mace ability that creates the symbol on the ground was okay, but the AoE shield didn’t seem to do much.
So now I’m wondering if there is a better weapon combo for dungeon running because honestly the only things that made me feel useful were my Virtues, Empower, and “Hold the Line”.
Should I be focusing more on damage, like running a greatsword or something? I guess I’m not really clear on what my role is supposed to be since I don’t feel like the most useful support and I thought that’s what my role was supposed to be.
My choices aren’t as interesting as Captain Wright, but they are more fitting for a Charr. I choose Iron and Steel.
Just so you know this picture alone makes me regret not rolling a charr.
Cool thanks for the info. When soloing what do you use for a secondary weapon combo? I figured GS would probably be one of them, what do you generally keep as your off-set to swap to?
Hey guys, getting back into the game after a few month break and decided to start with a new character (I have a 63 warrior but wanted to sort of re-experience the game to really get back into it).
I plan on doing quite a bit of crafting and I will probably have the goal of crafting one of the legendary weapons. To that end, I’m wondering how viable Guardains are when it comes to farm crafting materials. Now obviously things like ore/wood/gems are equally accessible regardless of character class, but other mats may not follow the same rules.
For example, if I wind up needing to farm a bunch of mats dropped by a particular type of Level 79-80 mob, how much trouble will I have as a guardian? Since they’re a little more focused on Defense/Utility I’m a little worried that it will be sort of like grinding mobs as a Holy paladin from WoW.
(I don’t mean to compare this to WoW, or Guardians to Paladins [I know they aren’t similar], I just needed an example.)
Anyways, how is it being a L80 Guardian?
Sounds like the game has only gotten worse, think I’ll stay away…

Population levels are still high – full.
There is a lot going on, new stuff weekend after this one.
But not that much has changed, cuz we’re still in the post-launch tryin to get the bugs worked out stage of the game.
Has PvP improved at all? Last time I did PvP it seemed like it was fairly unfair for melee classes – and while I’m pretty used to melee getting the shaft after 10+ years of MMOs, it’s still a little disappointing when every WvWvW degenerates into a ranged AoE Spamfight
The game has no sub. Why not just log in and check it out for yourself.
Because I’m at work I just felt like browsing the GW2 forums to see how everything was doing and I saw a couple posts about population issues/dead zones and I decided to make a thread to find out how the rest of the game is doing.
Probably won’t have a chance to actually log in myself for a day or two so I wanted some community input.

I played Guild Wars2 for like 2 weeks straight after release and I was having a blast, and then suddenly (for seemingly no real reason) I got super bored with the game. I tried re-rolling a few different alts thinking that maybe I was just tired off the Warrior gameplay, but I didn’t really enjoy the other classes I tried – Necro was probably my favorite but it seemed pretty slow/underpowered compared to my warrior.
Eventually I stopped playing entirely and have not been back to the game since. The funny thing is I didn’t really leave to play another game which is usually the case when I quit a game (ex, I quit WoW to play Rift), I mean I still have League of Legends which has been my go-to game for like 2 years now, but I often take breaks from it and want another game to fall back on.
I’m thinking about returning to GW2 but I’m not really sure it’s worth trying.
What has changed for GW2 in the last couple months? How is the playerbase/server populations? What is there to do when you hit max level?
Also I really hated PvP last time I tried it, the whole “downed player” think really pissed me off, mostly because of how much health has + how little damage everyone does – the PvP just felt very stagnant, probably due to the very low amount of abilities you’re able to have “equipped” at one time.
