PVP Que stuck

I was stuck in stronghold for a while and then once I get out I’ve noticed that at the top it tells me there is a match in progress and I’ve been waiting for about 45 minutes now to que up. Some people in my guild are able to que up, but I simply cannot do it yet. Is anyone else having this issue or know of any way I can correct it.

I’ve tried restarting my computer, restarting the client, etc.

I am having the exact same issue. On top of that, I am also getting the screen that says the client cannot access the login server on EVERY map/instance I enter.

I am really unsure how this happened, but I am now not able to queue at all. Going form being stuck in stronghold for 2 hours to now being able not to queue.

Queuing with my wife also nulls the match. I cannot PvP at all now. Any advice that works would be appreciated. My day has already been bad with this stronghold incident, I do not want anything more than to be able to fix this problem.

Funny thing, this is, as, by what Anet said in the HoT sale info, every prepurchaser should be invited to any future HoT beta events. Apparently, it’s not the case.

Because, to my knowledge, the Desert BL will not be a HoT thing. I do believe it is just going to be a general Add-on for all GW2 owners.

I encourage you all not to be disheartened by the lack of content releases. When HoT was planned, Arena Net released a projected profit increase that fell in line with a pre-purchase/release purchase of HoT. That profit projection was slated for the third quarter of business sales. The third quarter is the months of July, August, and September. I know that Anet still has a lot to reveal but have resolve that Anet will deliver of HoT.

We just have to support Anet in this time and be surprised when it does get released. If you need a break for GW2, Anet is not holding a gun to your head. Just be sure to come back and enjoy the new content.

1. Fix the tonic in combat problem
2. Make the Call of the Wild ICD for Clarion Bond sync up with (or be shorter than) pet swap when traited with Windborne Notes and slightly longer than pet swap when not traited
3. Figure out a way to make ICDs like this visible since combat decisions are made on when ICDs are over – as things stand now, the activation of Clarion Bond is not reliable or predictable

+1, all the +1 on this comment. Being able to transform in combat is not a reason to punish the class. Fixing the tonic should be addressed instead of killing such a good trait.

It is nonsense. It is an exploitable issue provided by the TONIC. Thus instead of punishing rangers with this nerf, why not address the tonic itself. As all of us are aware, being transformed and entering combat makes us LOSE the transformation (save for a few tonics). Thus this exploit is something that needs to be addressed with the tonic, not our trait.

Flat. Plain. And simple.

There are a bunch of tonics that can be used in combat. The trait just needs the internal cooldown set at 15 seconds so it can’t be abused and we can have another reliable blast finisher.

It’s bs that a class like engi, who already has blast finishers coming out of his kitten , gets a trait that lets them blast finish on dodge roll and rangers who have 1 reliable blast finisher on a underpowered weapon end up getting screwed because of a tonic exploit.

Indeed, which is why I am fighting the nerf and instead ask for a look into the tonics. Tonics are for fun transformations to make the aesthetics of the game more enjoyable. But for combat, only tonics such as this should be combat compatable but still non-exploitable.

With all that happened to this trait with the most recent patch, I can understand why 30 seconds was chosen: to prevent perma fury/swiftness. Bear with me here.

Imagine: You are fighting Tequatl and are a power longbow build. Your ferocity is scaled to 200% but your crit chance is only 80%. All of a sudden! Clarion bond! Now you crit every shot and all you have to do is keep your pet next to you and alive. It is an exploit with that ability and the only way to stop an exploit is to do what Anet did.

NOW. Do I agree with the direction Anet took? Absolutely not. In PvP clarion bond was nice for my condi build as I could keep circling the enemy with the swiftness and keep a nice fury uptime with CB and Wilderness Knowledge. However, my pet dies too fast in PvP and WvW for this new CD to do any good. It removes the spec for rangers to do any good in team fights and limits them to backline pew pew. The 60 second CD for a downed pet to “revive” is a good off set to the skill before this nerf.

TL; DR This nerf was for PvE Pew Pew’ers and nothing more but it affected all of us in such a way this trait is useless!

100% fury and swiftness uptime is already easy to maintain. This was changed because people were using the trait with tonics to have a 0 cooldown blast finisher and perma 25 might.

Answer me honestly, have you EVER tried to use a tonic in combat? There is no tonic that allows to used whilst the person is IN combat. And if there is, that is an oversight by Anet and the tonic should b addressed, not the trait.

So this tonic nonsense, is exactly that: nonsense.
EDIT: because I cannot spell tonic >.>

Things that we know are going to be added to the base game are:

  • The new WvW map (replacing the current one)
  • Stronghold
  • Core Specialisation system

Can you link me the article that says we are getting these core changes for free? Not to be sarcastic, I am genuinely curious.

Core Specialisations

The new system will come to the live game before the launch of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™, allowing players to experience the changes to core specializations and stockpile Hero Points for their elite specializations. While elite specializations will be available to everyone who purchases the expansion, the upcoming core specialization changes will affect the base game.

The Desert Borderlands Map will be replacing the old Borderlands map (Alpine Borderlands) when the expansion releases and we might reintroduce the old map in a rotation or tournament.

Stronghold

Thank you and again, I plead guilty for not watching/reading those for reasons cough lazy cough

Again, to clarify, I am not complaining. Just saying what I feel. I have no problem shelling the cash for this pack. I am worried about the people that won’t buy the pack.

Why is it any concern to you if other people don’t buy the ex-pack? I, and everyone else here, is struggling to see a reason why this would be a worry on anybody’s mind. The expansions aren’t expensive, there is no undue burden on the players. If they really aren’t interested enough in GW2 then they aren’t going to get the expansion. This isn’t selfish to not be concerned about those people, because the overwhelming majority of players that do have a problem with the ex-pack needing to be bought are those who have never bought an expansion before and think GW2 is Pay2Win. (This is the reason I brought this up in the beginning, because there have been numerous posts claiming it’s Pay2Win but the fact is it is far from it).

I am concerned because I come from Tarnished Coast! Prior to megaservers it thrived, now it finally is coming back around and the community feels whole. IF this Xpac separates players, Anet is alienating the non-HoTers. (not to say that is a bad thing as companies do need money to run) I just do not want to see anger, resentment, and strife arise where none should exist.

As for buying the pack, yes I plan on it, but I wonder how many of my friends won’t and how this could affect my play with them and others in the whole Guild Wars 2 community.

Where has that been stated that ALL this work Anet is doing will be a Free patch? They claim this is ALL going to be released in HoT; in every blog post, it is a new cool thing that “we are releasing in HoT.”

I can only assume if you read the blogs then you have watched the Ready Up episode about specialization, in which they said this right before going into the changes to the trait system

this link, I timed it for you right when Jon Peters ‘Design Lead’ said the core spec (trait changes) ARE coming before HoT while the Elite specs will come with HoT

This, in which, I admit I have not seen the Ready Up episodes for reasons akin to TL;DR. :P

A lot of these changes are not expansion-specific changes; they’re changes and additions to the base game.

For example, the new Specialisation system will be replacing the current trait system for all players. Only the Elite Specs will be exclusive to HoT players. Not to mention that this system will be coming in before HoT launches:

The new system will come to the live game before the launch of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™, allowing players to experience the changes to core specializations and stockpile Hero Points for their elite specializations. While elite specializations will be available to everyone who purchases the expansion, the upcoming core specialization changes will affect the base game.

The things that we know are going to be exclusive to HoT so far are:

  • The HoT content (maps and any content in them maps)
  • Revenant
  • Elite Specializations
  • The PvE Mastery system

Things that we know are going to be added to the base game are:

  • The new WvW map (replacing the current one)
  • Stronghold
  • Core Specialisation system

Can you link me the article that says we are getting these core changes for free? Not to be sarcastic, I am genuinely curious.

What boggles my mind is that people have a problem all of a sudden with paying for an expansion.

Again, to clarify, I am not complaining. Just saying what I feel. I have no problem shelling the cash for this pack. I am worried about the people that won’t buy the pack.

I’m curious. How can anyone have an ‘honest assessment’ of an expansion that is neither complete nor available to play?

^This. I opened this post just to say the same thing. It boggles the mind. +1

Incomplete? Development-wise, yes. Content-wise, no! Anet told us from the very beginning what is coming with the HoT. So, yes I can (and will) make an honest assessment on something I get news stories and blog posts about, in full detail, every week.

Huh? this post makes no sense. All profession changes are part of the patch that will introduce HoT, no purchase required. The only things you will need to buy the expansion for are:

1. New maps
2. New living Story
3. Guild halls
4. POSSIBLY new legendary weapons (unclear)

Everything else is included in the base game.

Where has that been stated that ALL this work Anet is doing will be a Free patch? They claim this is ALL going to be released in HoT; in every blog post, it is a new cool thing that “we are releasing in HoT.”

I’m assuming this is yet another thinly-veiled “HoT is P2W” post.

Um what? If I came across that way, that is not what I feel. This pack is going to change the core game so much that non-HoT players will be stuck in the stone age compared to where Anet is wanting to take this xpack. In no way do I think this is P2W.

I am just concerned that the direction Anet seems to be wanting to go with HoT is going to alienate the community into 2 factions where Anet will cater to the HoT faction more than not.

As we know, Arena Net has been leaking detail after detail about our favorite features of the Tyria we have come to love. But as with the attacks from Scarlet and her awakening of Mordremoth had a profound affect on Tyria, so too is Anet’s expansion pack going to affect Guild Wars 2 forever.

As each post comes out about the new changes HoT is bringing to GW2, I cannot help but have this sense of impending doom on the players who will not buy this pack.

And my feelings are thus: In every aspect, I cannot see how players, who own HoT and those who do not, can play together not only in general PvE, but also in the competitive circuit.

Take for example this from the Specialization blog post: “What we’re trying to do with specialization is take everything that was positive about the Trait system and boil it down while removing or modifying the parts we felt held it back.”

…okay sooooo that means that those who buy HoT will get the benefits of specializations and, as the blog post further explains, different traits from those that don’t buy HoT? But don’t take my word for it, look at the WvW post.

So, ALL WvW is getting affected. ALL the elements of WvW are getting this change, which means non-HoT maps and the new HoT map too. Yes, it could be argued that this is merely going to be a patch and come free to non-HoT players, but I counter you and ask what then about the enemies you will face in WvW when HoT comes out? Will Anet find it fair that those that paid for HoT will be able to face non-HoT players on non-HoT maps? I sure don’t!

So what options does that leave? 1) Prevent non-HoT players from entering any competitive scene that has HoT players. or 2) Create 2 separate instances for HoT players to play HoT players and non with non.

As I see it, Anet will most likely follow the latter and then what? Upkeep 2 instances and spend more time and money to keep the community separate save for Cities (LA, BC, DR, etc.). Well, they will do this for maybe 6 months but after that?

TL; DR- If Anet is really revolutionizing GW2 with HoT, this is not an Xpac, but a (for lack of better explanation) paid patch disguised as some flashy, cool stuff!

Thoughts on Entangle

in Ranger

Posted by: Atros.9607

Atros.9607

If you swap to a drake while in combat, it uses its blast finisher immediately. Something to keep in mind when you have a drake on swap and you are standing in a field of some sort.

Fair point, most times when I call out my drake, I use the F2 command because I typically need it more than the finisher. Still I cannot help but think that we need more control over the blast seeing as ANY factor can throw off a drake’s auto attack, one of which is using the F2 command. Others include the long CD of a pet’s being “dead” or defeated. Another would be any hard CC that interrupts the drake and starts the normal auto attack chain.

Personally I discount the drake as a finisher then because it is too uncontrollable but in perfect circumstances, the drake DOES make another blast.

Either way, I am interested to hear more arguments for/against the idea and if this IS a viable option to bring to Anet’s attention.

If only there weren’t half a million ways to get out of it…

Half million and one counting how many times I can get out of it with a simple heal with Healing Spring. And this comes back to the soft CC that entangle presents.

in the duling scene … Entangle already have very strong synegie possibilitieswith SOTF and krait/lyssa runes. I dont think it should get buffed even more.

Dueling Scene yes because that is a one versus one situation where there are NO others to help buff yourself and help buff others. Elites are wayyy more broad spectrum than dueling. Even that aside, it would make the dueling mechanic even more interesting since that would put a strategy to stopping the entangle

Admittedly I ran krait on my condi bleed spec for tpvp but after awhile I gave up on letting bleed become my ONLY condition. No do I see most others use that for the conditions more so the meta is for them to keep people from dodge rolling to avoid their Rapid Fire.

My current build has two blast finishers, two leap finishers, and two projectile finisher skills.

That being said I would love it if Entangle became a blast finisher. I already run it, which means I’d be up to three blast finishers. My only regret is the lack of more fields.

The drake blast finisher does not really count in my books seeing as you have no control over WHEN and where the drake does that attack. IF you got lucky enough or timed it well (which I do not time well in the midst of a battle) you might get the blast for the tail sweep. Meaning, I would want a more controllable blast.

Atros.9607

So I was thinking as I always do on my caffeinated drives of thought racing through my ever too cramped mind about the Elite Entangle for the rangers and through that the animation is too similar to the Warrior’s Stomp .

Soooo that got me thinking why is that the warrior skill is a blast finisher and the entangle is not? Yes, I concede that the skills serve 2 different purposes as one is more a hard CC skill with knockdowns and more damage, and the other is more soft CC intermixed with conditions. So that puts them on even ground again. Until the warrior skill adds the blast finisher which the ranger skill is not. (And of course other tidbits of skill facts that I did not mention for the brevity of the comparison).

Usually rangers are thought, up until the most recent patch, a more supportive role with traps and spirits to aid allies in the battle. However, the ranger is not; with it’s mass amounts of fields, able to blast them and thus relies on the other classes. (Yes we have ONE blast finisher like the mesmer and necro and probably other classes I missed and too lazy to think of)

If we were able to add a blast spec to entangle it would make the class more viable in team fights when other blast finishers are on cool down. Seeing as this skill is also an elite it should only make sense to have this a blast too since the warrior skill is a mere utility skill.

Now this is only speculation and I really would like to hear the opinions of other rangers and counter the points I made without saying that Arena Net is going to ignore this thread. Because if we keep this bumped and talk about this idea, we may find a change in the next coming patches. Either way, I am more interested to hear what others want from this elite.

About the new "defiance" system

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Atros.9607

Atros.9607

In this respect I was thinking REALLY hard about the idea after the beta. Yes Anet is going to scale the respective CC skills based on how much CC the skill actually does. I.E. The thief pistol 4 skill does 1/4 second of daze versus the 2 second stun a hammer Warrior does.

HOWEVER, when facing the boss in the beta, players were able to switch to Jalis and use the chain skill to destroy that defiance bar. Now, that works great in large groups where the skill spam is real. But I fear that for the small groups/solo players that face an NPC with defiance, there is not enough CC, especially if the player is in a class that has little CC (like the ranger). Then the player(s) are at a real disadvantage because there is not enough CC to break the power attack and thus the player(s) could suffer an insta-down or whatever the NPC’s attack was supposed to do.

Now, I know that defiance scales in-game as of now where the intensity stacks grow based on the players in the area. But, with this new system, I fear that the scaling of defiance may not be enough. As is, I can solo a champion (on my ranger) and get 3 stacks minimum of defiance before I can CC it again. But with this new mechanic, I am worried that I may not be able to spam enough CC to break the NPC before it attacks me.

I am sure it will be addressed, but I still state my concerns justly.

Well, according to the patch notes, they haven’t enabled any map (including cities) except for the PvP Lobby for MegaServer use.

So, perhaps, they are considering alternatives. =)

I do hope you are correct! Unfortunately, it has definitely been implemented in my game; Rata Sum and Black Citadel are packed with guilds I have never seen before.

Perhaps it was an oversight. Here’s hoping. X)

Sadly no. They did implement the megaserver into cities as when asking map chat I got many responses such as FA and Crystal Desert. I do hope this post gets the attention it deserves both as an RPer and nonRPer. There are certain feels to the cities that are just too much when you find it populated so much more so than before.
