Give Charr armor some more love!
Let us show our spots, stripes, or lack-there-of in style.
Actually corrupted lodestones fell significantly in price since the patch w/ nerf and I have no idea why…
I’ve never actually fought in that battle; every time I arrived there it was just finished, and all the players in it were getting the skillpoint & exiting out the portal.
Might it be possible to convert them to account bound using the ‘de-soulbinding transmutation’? (transmute the skin ONLY over to a stock white or blue, then transmute that on the desired character onto an exotic/[ascended] – the purple name is tied to the skin, afaik)
HOWEVER – Don’t take my word for it. I have not done this with a legendary myself as I have no legendaries and would probably wait for someone else to for-science it anyways. Someone else may be able to confirm this. I have however done this with starter gear to replace that which I had accidentally destroyed. [This is in fact a feature, not a bug/exploit as was originally believed btw – Anet actually went to so far as to fix a bug related to it, where it retained the soulbound tag though acted properly as account bound]
Anyways, just saying I cannot be held responsible for anything bad that happens to your legendary.
Actually Anet already disabled the recipes – attempting to make them apparently resulted in an error post-disable; they merely altered them in the patch to make them accessible again.
This is an information gathering thread, and would also help Anet by keeping info in one thread since already there are a food of these threads appearing.
Post where you were when the patch occurred (zone, main menu, logged out), what loading screen you got stuck on with your last used character (if any – it would also help to know what happened even if you did NOT have this problem; the more info, the better).
As for myself:
I was offline, loading main menu crashed the client once (became unresponsive, prompted windows error message)*, restarting it worked, was then able to access last used character.
*This may be entirely unrelated, based on the symptoms I’ve been hearing, which involve the actual zone w/ only the last used character
Trading post, or random drops in sylvari & asura areas once you reach level 35
Ouch :X sounds like the DB got messed up. Seems like Anet will be getting a flood of these error messages soon (saw another thread with this reported)… [Wasn’t on at the time, but will shortly check my last-used char]
I actually try to keep each alt’s stuff separate for the large part, mostly by keeping track and shuffling things through the bank to compensate for the TP being account-level. Never really was a huge issue, and if it could only be one, I’d still prefer it this way, because its more generally convenient for most people.
Its that fixed-cost items (ie, T3 cultural, etc) would be much more difficult for people to get.
The end result of this is that Lodestones will cost even more.
Ok, well, only the first one, the second was a joke.
It takes only the first one to become active, which in this case I think is either going to be the mainhand or the greater one, not sure.
climhazzard – probably because they didn’t finish the finalized system in time for the patch, but it would have taken even more work to revert it due to interdependencies, so it got dummied out, at least thats what I imagine.
Actually, the lowbie zones are surprisingly profitable. They can still drop items up to level 76 – this includes rares (at a weirdly higher rate than higher level zones, and I’m not sure why that is), and also drop unidentified dyes. Also I can play the lowbie zones with the TP taking up a fair chunk of the screen, no problem, because the mobs there are highly ineffectual at doing damage to me.
I want my expensive skins for all my alts, and if that means playing the TP, then so be it.
Also – have some irony – I find derping about helping lowbies out in the lowbie zones more fun than that event, so go take your preachy nonsense somewhere else.
I’m saying that the chance of them dropping a precursor is so slim that your time is better off spent playing the TP, and that what you saw was a very rare occurrence.
That is extremely rare; in all 50+ events I’ve attended, I’ve only ever seen someone once get an exotic which was ALSO a precursor [Dusk]. Generally we instead saw people celebrating exceptional lodestone drops or getting a rare from the chest. Thats just how pathetic the chests were.
Re #2: The number of mobs is the same, the number of mobs that drop loot is less; the mini ice eles no longer drop loot.
Re #3: That is apparently a bug.
It was really the only valid way to approach the event because the event gives you a chest of blue and green garbage. Its a problem with its core implementation & horrible rewards that encouraged people to not finish it, not the farmers :P (and the nerf made this problem far worse, not better. Take away the farmability, and the farmers go elsewhere. Have fun fighting off all those non-loot-dropping eles yourself while the farmers make money elsewhere on the map)
Actually you have to tag the dragon to get the chest.
By ‘last patch’, what do you mean? Did they nerf it even more, or was the ‘last patch’ the Dec-14 one where they stealth-nerfed it by killing off the mini-eles dropping anything which was about the only reason to show up. Since then its been ‘tag the dragon, run off to farm or play the TP and hope that you might actually get some supplemental cash from rares or get super-lucky and get a Dusk’
I’d like to be able to play the game again and not the TP, because then actually buying the expensive stuff for my characters wouldn’t feel like I’m throwing away the capacity to gear out the rest of them, unless I had the quadruple digits necessary to pay for them all. Plus then I would feel that the good I do helping lowbies in the lowbie zones isn’t being completely negated by the fact I’m a parasitic trader siphoning the money out of everyone else’s pockets for my own gain (Trader, Farmer and Casual alike). But I want my precursor skins (Hahaha, legendaries? Please, that’s beyond even MY reach.), my T3 armor, and all that other good stuff, and so, I trade. And I will trade until I can afford it without losing my capacity to get more money for future alts.
So yeah, as I said, I’d like to be able to actually, you know, PLAY THE GAME again. Not going to happen while anet continues to seemingly think that people shouldn’t be able to make more than 1g even if they spend 24 hours logged in, UNLESS they are a trader in which case its suddenly totally ok to ‘make’ 10-1000x that amount in a day (I say ‘make’ because its not actually adding gold to the economy, merely siphoning it out of someone else’s wallet, and paying a tax, to boot).
So yeah, even one of us ‘filthy rich evil people’ thinks that the system is borked, and I really doubt I’m the only one.
For the record though, I made my initial start-up gold farming frostgorge, not through exploits.
I have found that some champs don’t consistently drop loot (ie, the jormag phase 2 ones), even when I did the majority of the damage to them (via the bomb packs) – this was back when the event was actually worth farming the first phase for.
Yay! Thanks for the response!
-Signed as well
Too convenient and important a feature to lose, even with that extremely minor and infrequent glitch.
Also stepping up the priority of getting TP previews would be useful.
Yep, I still motion for adding this back, even though I know that there were very, very, rarely these glitches (so rare in fact I didn’t even make the connection between them and this removal)
To add to that – the glitches never hurt anyone, but this change does.
BTW – the quoted ‘change’ on the prior page was from the WIKI’s changelog – not the official one, and thus it could still be a bug.
Its a quantity nerf because the mini eles no-longer drop loot.
Anet is planning on expanding the events there… sometime. When? No idea. :P
Well, my biggest gripe with medium armor is the fact that you’d pretty much be a trenchcoat wearer in a sea of trenchcoat wearers. Hence why I’m aiming to get the charr T3 cultural top instead for my ranger (and have started upon the ‘Pants Quest’ – a quest for good-looking medium armor pants), and have yet to decide what I plan on doing for my engie and theif (Also charr – I have all 8 classes, all charr)
Yep, a friend of mine and I have been doing that ever since we discovered it X3
Wonder how it looks on the other races (considering I play only Charr)
ACTUALLY someone recently killed a few thousand mobs & did the math…
At this time, it does the exact opposite; it doesn’t give an appreciable boost to higher item tiers, and is instead increasing the number of mobs that drop (BUT all those additional drops are trash drops; as in ‘grey’/‘junk’)
Also, I got on one of my level 50 alts a while back and leveled to 80 by just derping around… turns out I was getting far more rares (netted 10 in a day from just derping, whereas I’m lucky to get 4 or 5 doing proper farming with over 100% MF on my main who now isn’t using MF gear anymore because its being practically worthless and I’m now using the TP for nearly all of my income nowadays… Ironic that I can make 20g a day with some extremely tame minimal-risk, minimal-time-used flipping while farming netted me only 14g on my very best day)
Oh yay!
Was that one of the threads in bug reports?
I don’t know why, but the buy button is greyed out even if I can afford the item, and I cant get any stats mouseovers in it either.
Can you get a screenshot of the ‘items bought’ entry for these items you got? It should say the total spent.
I’ve miscalculated before, it happens.
Yeah, but when you realize that they only answer maybe 1% of big (high-volume) complaints like this quickly.. XP
We STILL have no meaningful word (the admission from Chris that they were avoiding the issue until it came up on Reddit doesn’t count, since they have yet to actually get back to us on how their investigation is going) on the poor post-Nov14 droprates.
They usually don’t answer for a while (Some things have gone for quite some time without an answer still)… I’m honestly not surprised.
Has this been fixed as of the latest patch? I am unable to login right now due to lack of a suitable computer for playing at.
2 threads in there actually – I’ve psoted in them as well >.>
Apparently any weapon can still be previewed, which suggests that it is indeed a bug.
Maybe they could just add a warning saying ‘Are you sure you want to purchase this? It is not equippable on your current character’s class.’
@ Sandman:
Ok, I just did a search for ‘preview’ and ‘view’ and ‘weight’ in the patchnotes, but couldn’t find anything pertaining to this. I also skimmed over the items & general changes again.
Can you quote the bit that says that its an intended fix?
Third thread I’m posting in on this topic: PLEASE REVERT.
… wait, that was a “fix”? O_o
What?
Thats like… removing the air conditioner on someone’s car and saying its fixed. And it was the brakes that needed changing. (Note that the brakes still don’t work)
Yeah, they removed the ability for the mini eles to drop anything, and now that event is a worthless waste of time. I made a suggestion the significantly boost the droprate of rares & exotics (Doesn’t have to be precursors) from the chest based on how much you actually did during the fighting, to actually make it worth people’s while to complete the event, participating in it, instead of tag the dragon and run off to farm other stuff nearby, and end up making a more money (Even assuming a couple rares from the chest, which is optimistic) yet still having the same pathetic chance at a precursor.
Listing price is 5% – 475g
BTW – I just tested the starting gear thing, and it still works [specifically tested with Charr necro mask → account bound mask that I successfully equipped on my Charr ele]. HOWEVER, do remember that you need to obtain the starting gear item on the same race you want to use it on! (At least I read this in multiple places) – this is likely why your guildmate thought it didn’t work. Also you have to transmute it to a white or blue that has no upgrade; anything higher will result in the item remaining soulbound, from my understanding.
BTW – the stealth nerf to the mini icebrood eles no-longer dropping anything (as they were a great source of corrupted lodestone) will probably send their price up too :P
Yes, we need this back – its a major inconvenience.
Pff, #2 (which I am 100% was intentional) was an idiotic move for several reasons:
a: lodestones don’t need to be even more expensive than they already are, and it affects ALL the mini eles, including other ones I’ve farmed for lodestones. This just makes a bad situation worse.
b: Now people are EVEN LESS inclined to complete the event. A number of us after discovering the nerf (and engaging in some market speculation) tagged the dragon, then started farming nearby mobs and made a lot more money doing that than we got from that chest which is rather worthless.
Seriously, if they’re going to do that, might as well make the chest worth while, and reduce the time it takes to get to the stupid thing. If getting the chest is going to be an hour long ordeal, and you get squat for the actual process of participation, then everyone is going to ‘tag & go’ – yet you can’t remove the tag & go process because the tagging limits need to be low enough to let people who arrived at the event late still get the chest. A possible solution off the top of my head would be to increase the drop ratio based on the number of times you tag the dragon. Tag it once, get the current drop rate – with every successive tagging, you get an increased chance for more rares, and a largely increased chance for more exotics (or maybe some corrupted lodestones, to solve the lodestone shortage) – I don’t particularly care what they do with the precursor drop rate in this specific instance from the standpoint of making the event financially worthwhile, because honestly they drop so stupidly infrequently to begin with they can’t even be factored into the equation. However increasing their drop rate as well would significantly aid in the issues with how expensive they have become.
Ugh, that explains a lot…
I too second a revert.
Don’t the corrupted & destroyer weapon sets also require lodestones?
