Oh, by that I mean that those three professions are easy to learn. Sorry if that wasn’t too clear!
Thieves can probably fit in anywhere really. I seem to recall each race having background questions that could be associated with a stealthy rogue-like character.

As far as PvE goes (haven’t dabbled much outside of that) the classes are pretty balanced. They’re all more than capable of holding their own and being devastating in the right hands.
I think the general opinion though is that Warrior, Guardian and Ranger don’t have quite as steep of a learning curve as the others if you’re trying to get a grasp on the game mechanics.

I believe they recently made it so that you have to be level 40+ to get the guaranteed rare.

Razer Naga Epic here!
I haven’t really experimented a ton with assigning buttons to it though. 1-10 is for my skill bar, mouse wheel swaps weapons, and pretty much everything else is default. I do assign F3 and F4 to the Mouse buttons below the wheel when I play my Ranger. Helps a ton with pet management!
I imagine I’ll be doing that when I level an Elementalist too.

SO basically if I like playing healers in normal MMOs, GW2 isn’t for me?
A bit off topic, but I’ll go ahead and reply…
It doesn’t exactly mean that the game isn’t for you. It just means that you need to take a slightly different approach to combat. While you may be able to spec yourself into a focus on Water Attunement, it doesn’t mean you don’t have access to any of the other 3 elements.
I do understand where you’re coming from though. When I first started leveling my Mesmer I focused mostly on the staff and conditions since it helped keep me and fellow players alive. But unfortunately against bigger bosses I would be stuck with bronze or silver medals, despite being there and fighting hard from the start. Once I got a bit more comfortable with the game though I started swapping between staff and sword/pistol on the fly and have been getting Golds ever since!
Short version: Don’t neglect any of the tools at your disposal, even if your traits focus on something in particular!

Enjoy the Guard/Ele combo MisterG! Look me up if you happen to be on Sorrow’s Furnace and would like a 3rd wheel Mesmer! XD

Hey there Lev!
Unfortunately we aren’t on Yak’s Bend, but the Underground Clown Brigade is on Sorrow’s Furnace if you transferring servers isn’t out of the question. We’re a really small guild consisting of good friends experiencing all aspects of the game at our own pace.
If the server transfer isn’t a deal breaker for you, feel free to PM me and we can talk more if we’d be a good match for you!

Guardian would definitely fit the Tank/Support type playstyle you’re wife is going for. They’re meant to be frontline, in your face type fighters that have a lot of options for giving boons. Just gotta be careful you aren’t just plain taking hits, but I’m sure you both know that by now.
With that said, if I were to make a new character knowing I was going to run around with a Guardian, I’d probably pick an Elementalist or a Mesmer. Simply because the way I play would involve using combo fields to support both of us rather than concentrating on high damage numbers. But if you prefer damage, then Thief or Elementalist would probably be a bit more satisfying for you (early on at least).
But as most will tell you, pretty much all the professions can fit a specific role if you have the skill and build yourself correctly.
Hope you two have fun, whatever you end up choosing!

Not sure if you’ve made a decision already, but I’ve sent you a PM. Hope to hear from you!

Hello All!
The Underground Clown Brigade is a laid back guild full of… well… clowns! We joke around on Raidcall and experience the game at our own pace. As our small group of regulars has progressed through the game, we’ve decided it’s time to expand our roster so we can all experience Guild Missions and tackle dungeons with good friends!
So! If you’re on Sorrow’s Furnace and don’t mind a bit of potty humor, send me a PM! We accept all skill levels and will happily help anyone still learning the in’s and out’s of the game. Also we typically play anytime after 5pm EST.
Hope to hear from ya soon!

Hello all!
I’m looking to find a laid back guild in the Crystal Desert server.
I live in the US East Coast and am juggling a full time job, school and gaming. Fortunately I don’t work weekends so I can usually get in some long sessions then. I’m new to the MMO scene, but have been gaming in general for many years so I feel like I’ve been able to catch on to the game mechanics pretty easily, but am always open to suggestions in play style if it helps my team adapt to a given situation.
I’ve only done PvE so far, but am looking forward to tackling PvP once I finally figure out which profession I’m sticking with. Currently,my highest leveled character is only a Lvl 24 Guardian (Knight Man). I’ve been experimenting with the other classes to see which one I want to take to 80 first.
Thanks for the read and I hope to see everyone in game!

I believe when you’re browsing through your bank there should be something you can click on that will prompt you to buy more slots. Not sure if you need to have the gems first before you can see it or not.
Hope that helps anyway. I’m not near my laptop or I’d be more specific.

I haven’t noticed very many unfriendly players so far. The only time I saw people refuse to revive others was during the Fire Elemental boss. But I could understand why. The room was just so chaotic that if you stopped to revive someone you were guaranteed to be downed yourself.
But aside from that, you also get exp for revives! So there really aren’t many reasons NOT to be helpful.

Another thing to keep in mind is to switch your weapons and skills out often. After I unlocked all the weapon skills on my Guardian, I stuck with the GS almost exclusively. Then as that started to get a little stale, I started using Scepter/Shield as backup. Now I’m doing Scepter/Focus and Sword/Shield.
And with each weapon swap, I try to configure different slot skills to see how drastically I can change my fighting style, even though I’m only level 20ish right now.
Just a little something to keep things with your main class fresh as you work your way to 80.

Have you tried to craft the equipment once you’ve refined the components? I noticed that if you craft the same type of armor or weapon with each type of insignia, your level in it grows like crazy.
I started a Ranger recently and had him start leatherworking after I collected tons of leather overtime on my first character, and I ended up getting it up to level 80ish when he was still level 5.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I played a support role as best I could during that boss fight and didn’t get anything out of it either.
The big problem I noticed with this boss wasn’t so much with the boss itself as it was with the players. When things are that chaotic, there’s no way anyone has time to rez a player without going down themselves. So it ended up being about 4 or 5 of us that would just respawn upon death while there were 5 or 6 players just laying there the whole time waiting for a rez. It ended up only making things harder since the boss scaled to the number of players in the area.
