Is it possible that back in 2012 when you made the pre-purchase through your card your bank account was overdrawn when the transaction was first processed?

If that was the case and your bank didn’t grant an unauthorized overdraft to cover it, then later successfully processed the transaction as a ‘re-submit’, on paper it could look at a casual glance like you never actually made the payment.

There would be two transactions involved on paper, the first overdrawn one being charged back by your bank, then the second being the same payment going through once sufficient funds were in your account – meaning two different ‘payment’ dates on your game account records.

May be worth checking your account balance at and just after the time of your April 10 2012 purchase and confirming it was in credit and not overdrawn at any time during the processing ‘window’ before the transaction cleared.

I find it had to believe that it takes Anet’s purchase processor three years to check if a purchase payment was made…not what I would describe as a ‘normal purchase review’.

If this is the problem then the fact they have changed payment processors since may also be an issue, if full payment records from that far back didn’t make it to Digital River the current service supplier.

Good luck either way…hope they are able to provide you will some clarity on exactly what their records show.

Unable to use guild vault

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Bbear.7830

Bbear.7830

Four possibilities:

(i) Your trying to deposit items that are account or soulbound, which you can’t deposit in a guild bank only in your own ‘personal’ account bank.

(ii) You just created the guild and its first tier bank storage, but its less than three days old and the bank storage hasn’t actually finished building yet.

(iii) Your trying to deposit into one guild bank while representing another.

(iv) A bug/client corruption, meaning you need to submit a support ticket and wait for a response – or try a repair of the client.

Hope these suggestions help and good luck.

No hero points to unlock everything at 80

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Bbear.7830

Looking at the screenshot and reading your words ‘just got’ I’m guessing the problem is you haven’t actually done ALL the hero point challenges ingame – leveling by itself isn’t enough these days and Tomes don’t give HP’s (they just give levels), nor do Scrolls (those just give Spirit Shards or convert to Tomes now).

If your a new character starting out since the HP/SS split from the ‘old’ Skill Points system then just leveling in say EoTM won’t give you the points you need to unlock all traits – it was never intended to. If you are an existing character from before the change then you should have received HP’s at the time of conversion based on how many Skill Points you had at that time, then received more as you completed HP challenges and leveled – the little gold diamond symbol bottom right of the screenshot shows you have unlocked a level but not yet claimed the rewards…so do that and see what happens.

Otherwise, like Inculpatus says, its ticket time.

Good luck.

Skins?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Bbear.7830

Bbear.7830

Skins are cosmetic overlays that you can apply to weapons/armor or back items.

When you buy one you get one free use of the skin, then all further uses cost one transmutation charge bought from the gemstore, found inside Black Lion Chests, or given as rewards for progress through the personal story and sometimes for completing maps.

Skins are account bound on use, so any character on your account can use any skin you have already used, but they still have to pay the transmutation charge to do so.

Hope that helps

Switched to Vigil

Nylus: There is a hotfix for this known bug – you just need to find another player who is in the Order you originally chose and who is at the same point you were when things jumped track.

Party with them for their next mission and at the end choose accept progress again – you will be back on that Orders storyline. The trick will be finding someone who isn’t too far ahead of where you were up to, ask around in mapchat at LA, DR, or the Order HQ.

Since this may take a while, maybe a idea to note down which mission you were up to so you don’t forget while searching.

Good Luck

@Tabbii: There is a’ hotfix’ and it’s kind of obvious if you pause and think.

Just join with someone who is in the Priory and ready to do the next quest step you were up to. At the end just choose to take credit and your back on track.

Trick will be finding someone at the same point you were up to, but if you ask around in mapchat odds are in your favor someone will help out.

This has been tested and does work across all storylines/orders.

Good luck and welcome to the game

Equal items on tp - one salvageable other not

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Bbear.7830

Bbear.7830

Basically gear is divided into three basic types, note I said types not rarities:

(i) General gear equipable at stated levels or below, fully tradable/sellable and salvageable at any level with any type of salvage kit.

(ii) Accountbound gear equipable at stated levels or below, fully tradable between characters on the same account and sellable to ‘local’ merchants/vendors but not at Black Lion. Salvageable at any level with any type of salvage kit.

(iii) Soulbound gear equipable at stated levels or below by the ‘owning’ character, not sellable to vendors/merchants or at Black Lion and not tradable between characters on an account. Salvageable only by the ‘owning’ character with any type of salvage kit.

Where it gets a little complicated is when you factor in ‘reward’ gear, meaning items received from completing personal story segments, leveling up rewards and ‘karma bought’ items. All of these can be any of (ii) or (iii) above and while some accountbound rewards can be sold to vendors/merchants others can’t be, none of these can be sold at Black Lion. Some of these reward items also can’t be salvaged, only destroyed to remove from inventory if unwanted.

None of this however should enable the sale of account or soulbound gear on Black Lion, meaning any gear you buy there can be salvaged – Unless after buying it you equip and by doing so ‘convert’ it into accountbound or soulbound gear.

The obvious answers if you buy two identical items from Black Lion and find you can only salvage one of them are either that your client is bugged in some way, you accidentally bound one by unlocking its skin to your wardrobe, or you equipped it and changed its ‘type’.

Personally I’ve never heard of this particular problem before, could you confirm you actually bought two of exactly the same item and without unlocking skins or equipping either found you couldn’t salvage both?

If the answer is yes, report it as bug by submitting a ticket to support. Screenshots showing both items, with one highlighted red to show its not salvageable would be helpful – particularly if the shot of your inventory also showed you had salvage kit(s) in inventory. The reference to ‘highlighted red’ reflects that non-salvageable items appear red in inventory when you activate a salvage kit – just in case you didn’t know.

my guild question

in Players Helping Players

Bbear.7830

Yes…you will be able to have your own Guild Hall in HoT if:

(I) You can clear the Hall map instance of Mordrem playing solo and reach/activate the crystal in the heart of the Hall ruins.

(ii) You can find friends willing to run the map with you and help you clear the Mordrem to reach the crystal.

(iii) You can afford enough ingame gold to hire in help to clear the map and reach the crystal.

(iv) You can claim the Hall and afford the cost of then slowly repairing/upgrading it by yourself (it starts as a ruin).

Feel free to shout me up ingame, be happy to lend a hand along with some of my own guild members if you need it.

Guild Halls...points to consider

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Bbear.7830

Bbear.7830

My comments were based on the ‘permissions’ associated with Guild Leaders, one of whom always has the ‘top slot’ in relation to ‘admin lower ranks’ – even when that is shared down to 2nd Tier Leaders/Officers, represented by the White sidebar in the Ranks Table.

I guess it will come down to how Anet interprets exactly who qualifies as a ‘Guild Leader’ – the original founder/owner, or just anyone with all current Guild permissions ticked.

The actual claiming through interaction with the Crystal would seem to suggest that while other guilds or even friends from outside a guild could help with the capture, the Hall would be claimed by the Guild ‘Leader’ activating the Crystal. I’m very carefully not going to get into the possibilities for ‘stealing’ a capture if someone else with Leader rank in another Guild gets to the Crystal first, has fast reactions and switches Guilds…

Hopefully the ‘there can be only one’ feature, each Guild being only able to claim one of the Hall types currently available, will prevent temptation and attempts to grab a Hall from the ‘Lead’ Guild trying for it.

My call on ‘guilds of one’ or those with small numbers under 10-15 members is they could well struggle to make a capture without outside help – but that depends on how the maps scale and how easy it will be to recruit/retain outside help to push up numbers for each attempt. I’m also calling the ‘Rent a Zerg’ as something at least some less friendly, or more opportunistic, Guilds may run to generate gold income. Not that different a mind set to selling Dungeons and to a degree open to the same possible abuse – ‘selling X map/hall, join party with Yk gold in wallet or at least Z unbound Legendries in inventory, Crystal ready to be claimed’…

At least it looks like there will be no actual limit on how many attempts to capture a Map/Hall individual Guilds will have…but as my posts suggest, not so sure Anet have fully thought through exactly where this could lead and how it will be implemented/manipulated by players in practice.

On a more practical and positive note those Guilds who organize, by splitting their participating members into parties each with set tasks and designated Commanders, will likely find it easier to clear maps and make the capture.

My thoughts are a ‘spearhead’ group to push/engage mobs in order of priority/threat, with ‘sweepers’ to focus on support and all things AoE and a dedicated group of condition removers to keep everyone else up while clearing – maybe a small ‘advance scouts’ group (yes I’m looking at you Thieves) to path find and give advance warning of what to expect in the next section of the map.

Personally, I’m looking at this as a whole mini-game of its own that could take some time to finish for the smaller less organized Guilds.

Think that about covers it…so feel free to go crazy with the responses

Guild Halls...points to consider

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

As far as I understand it the Guild Leader will have to be present for any Guild to be able to capture its Hall, since the new Architect permission will be at least initially tied to their ‘top tier’ permission level. I can’t immediately see how else it would work, since someone must by definition have the initial permission to be able to ‘delegate’ it down to other ranks/members.

If a Hall can be captured by ‘ordinary’ Guild Members, each of who automatically unlock the Build permission, then the Leader would need to be able to remove/reassign that permission to be able to maintain any kind of build order/structure – which is likely to cause friction at some level, at least for some Guilds.

Follows that Guilds with ‘absent’ or ‘away’ leaders could be ‘locked out’ until the leader is available for the capture, since no-one else will initially have the right permissions level to be able to unlock the Hall or delegate Build permissions to other members.

The decorations feature is effectively a donation of each members unique decoration unlock to the Guild they are representing at the time – a single use ‘charge’ item that adds x1 of that particular decoration type to that Guilds ‘stock’. Not clear yet exactly how the choice of contributed decoration unlock works – my guess is that it will be the Guild Leader, or whoever initially holds the Architect permission, will be able to choose the specific item from the pool of three that will be initially available (Wyvern/Wall/Copter). If it’s the choice of the individual HoT purchaser, then there may be a lot of ‘unpopular’ choices and an overstock of decorations the guild as a whole may not want/need – for example a whole fleet of copters that would never realistically be used.

Calling it as a safe bet that other ‘non-standard’ and new ‘standard’ decorations will be available later, either as gemstore purchases or through Guild Mission rewards. In effect Transmutation Charges for Guild Halls…and if gemstore bought another income stream for Anet.

Exactly how many Guild Members it will take to clear the Hall maps and capture the Halls will reveal itself once the feature goes live, guess we all have to wait and see.

Party restrictions.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bbear.7830

Bbear.7830

Parties have two main ‘purposes’ ingame:

(I) All party members ‘share’ a combined damage pool at world boss events, helping ensure everyone has an increased chance at event success rewards (Bronze/Silver/Gold), based on the party’s damage rather than the damage of individual party members. Also carries over into Dungeons and LS/PS/Hearts events etc).

(ii) The social aspect of having a group playing together as a team and communicating/chatting/organizing as a party. Plus the associated bonus of working together on activities rather than just running solo (Hearts/Map Completion/PS/LS/etc). Friends that slay together stay together

There is an ‘area of effect’ tied to Parties though, the pooled damage bonus only works inside the radius of the event. Being in a Party but being on different maps or spread out all over a map just means your being social, not that your still combining/sharing your party damage bonus and event contribution.

Ingame, watch for the Event Circles on the map and whether or not everyone has the Heart/Instance/Event text up on their UI – that will generally let you know if everyone is still ‘in range’ for combined rather than individual scoring.

That’s about it…Party up to gain a common advantage, or just to be social and play as a group rather than solo.

In response to the second part of the OP’s question…when they do arrive they will include a range of design types, one of which resembles the Agents of Shield flying fortress based on the concept art Anet previewed.

Reasonable to expect they will all be customizable by adding services at least, possibly also by adding the equivalent of ‘Home Instance’ upgrades.

Based on the GW1 Model, seems likely that at least some upgrades will have an associated cost in Guild Merits/Influence and possibly also the need to ‘lease’ or buy the Hall location from someone. Personally I’ll be expecting some Pact involvement too, even if its only them laying claim to possible sites and renting out to recover the cost of rebuilding the Fleet.

Better OOC weapon swapping

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bbear.7830

Personally…in answer to your closing question…I have a small 12 slot inventory bag set up as the top storage for my characters and holding just spare weapons and key revive/repair/teleport/food items.

A quick right click and weapons swap slots when needed…the current/replacement weapons exchange places, so not had any problems with things getting ‘lost’ in general inventory slots. As I play mainly Elementalist this was the best alternative to actual ‘swap’ buttons I could come up with and it seems to work fine for me.

I also have two ‘safe’ bags set up as the bottom two inventory areas to hold spare armor sets with different rune setups for different situations. I find it handy and it confuses the kitten out of folks when I switch because quite a few look identical (I carry 6 armor sets with me).

Lost My Guild

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Bbear.7830

Bbear.7830

Sounds like you have two separate things going on based on your description…

The issues with ‘disappearing’ stacks/items when moving from bank to inventory is a kind of ‘lag’ effect. Items sometimes move correctly but become invisible when dropped into inventory, resulting in that slot becoming ‘locked’ or ‘full’ even though nothing appears on screen. The fix is to drag something else into another empty inventory slot, the first item then usually appears. Leaving and re-entering a map also fixes.

The issue with a disappearing Guild is different…and usually means that by accident you left your personal Guild of one. If that’s the case then it’s gone and so is everything stored in it. Support may be able to restore the Guild but not sure they would restore the items in its bank. The only ‘fix’ is preventative, always have at least one other trusted person in personal guilds as a backup against accidentally leaving yourself.

Good luck and submit a ticket to support…they may be able to help out.

[Suggestions] Gemstore Items

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bbear.7830

Bbear.7830

Throwing these ideas back out for comment/feedback…

(i) A ‘campsite’ item for gemstore or guild build queue that drops a camp fire and bedroll bundle – allowing ‘in the field’ cooking, a ‘rested’ buff (say +5% exp for 15min) and the facility to repair armor.

Even allowing for the ability to WP back to Cities/Forts/etc – camping out while on adventure is pretty much a staple of fantasy literature and features in a few RPG’s too.

(ii) In terms of game mechanics, not that different a concept to the existing ‘Guild Banquet’ item…so would only need relatively minor graphic changes to implement and link to the ‘mobile crafting station/guild banner’ mechanic.

(iii) In terms of ‘buff management’ adding a timer of say one use per 2hrs gametime would prevent over exploitation and retain the ‘usefulness’ of banners/existing crafting station bundles.

(iv) Adding a ‘mobile repair station’ function (small anvil) would reflect the other fantasy staple of adventurers doing basic gear repairs while camped…without undervaluing the existing ‘repair kit’ item, simply by making that feature of the campsite a single use per game day. Given the lack of WP’s in the new Silverwaste map, the facility to make repairs ‘on the fly’ would be a major QoL addition – while still leaving value in the exist repair canisters for use in Dungeons/Fractals/etc.

(v) Given the overall utility value and convenience, as a gemstore item it would cost in the 1000 to 1800 gem range…as a ‘buildable’ guild item cost could be similar to/based on that of the existing ‘Banquet’ item with the same limit on how many could be built and held in guild storage if the Dev’s decided to go that route.

In terms of use, picture these being dropped at World Boss events during waits…or as mentioned above while defending Forts in the Silverwaste and other ‘high risk’ adventuring areas in PvE.

In terms of ‘cosmetics’…picture the cool screenshots of a party actually camped out in the wilds, for example kneeling by the campfire/anvil or sleeping/sitting on the bedroll.

In terms of the Roleplay community, a focus for party interaction. In terms of the PvE Community, an encouragement to find those ‘cool spots’ on the map in which to set up a visual ‘cue’ camp to go afk for a while…or just discuss/plan your next move.

So…what do you think folks?

Guild leadership vanished

I think the bottom line is…a guild has to have a leader as long as it has more than one member, so when they accidentally demote themselves like happened here another guild member is chosen and gets auto-promoted to fill the gap.

Lesson seems to be…be careful playing around with ranks and do your best to find a person you trust to act as your ‘back up’ leader in case this happens.

How to report inappropriate guild names?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Bbear.7830

Bbear.7830

Sorry…answer is a qualified no.

The game checks guild names at creation and if they pass that built in filter then they are assumed ok. Having said that there will always be ways around the filter if someone wants to make the effort…or use obscure languages.

Reporting is kind of ‘hit or miss’ too, because names can be subjective. If you really wanted to you could try reporting individual guild members for ‘offensive language’…but may be better to try reporting though the ‘support’ route rather than ingame, as you have more scope to detail your concern.

I did a quick search on Google and found a link to a forum post from about a year ago, which looks like the one I originally saw.

You can search the forum for it using ‘I was Guild Leader and I’m now the lowest ranking member’. Tested the forums search and it actually works!

Either read the full thread or skip to tab 4 for the happy outcome. Assuming the OP was being truthful, the system certainly seems to randomly pick a replacement from the membership active or inactive.

May be worth asking for confirmation from Gail or one of the other support team?

Leave that for you to follow up if you want.

Inculpatus – As far as I understand it this is covered in the Guild section of the online Manual.

Only triggers where there is a single person with full privileges and they become inactive or stand down, which may be why it never cropped up in a guild with more than one leader all having the same permissions.

I did say ‘I think its currently 14-21 days’ – may be longer or shorter. You would have to check the Manual yourself, I just gave it a quick skim read when I started playing.

There have been other similar posts on the forum discussing this – and they seem to support. Given the search facility isn’t the best, good luck finding them.

[EDIT] Found a reference on the wiki – search ‘Guild Leader’ – for some reason it won’t let me cut/paste the link here. Trigger period is between 60 and 72 days inactive.

Guessing from your input you don’t know about the other way a guild leader can ‘loose’ their position Shadow.

Like you say guilds are designed so they must always have at least one leader with full permissions. There is an automated feature built in to the system to ensure this.

If there is only one leader and that player is offline for more than a fixed period – I think it’s currently 14-21 days, then the game automatically chooses another guild member and promotes them to leader rank with full permissions.

This is intended to allow guilds to still function if a sole leader leaves or is missing. This carries over to ‘personal’ guilds too…one created just to provide extra storage space for a single player…so its important to ‘check in’ on personal guilds at least once a week to avoid locking yourself out and losing access to whatever may be stored n the bank.

Where a guild has only a single member and this auto kick feature triggers, effectively that guild ceases to exist and anything in its bank is gone.

This is also the only way to ‘dissolve’ a guild, short of Anent removing one for some reason, kick all members then ‘stand down’ when your the last person in it. Guild ceases to exist.

Like I said in my first reply, Anet policy is not to get involved in anything connected with guilds that doesn’t involve an actual fault or error in the game code. The rule is…be careful and pay attention when doing anything involving your guild.

Sidebar to this is pretty obvious, never put anything you can’t afford to lose into a guild bank, Anet never ‘rolls back’ guild banks…after an accidental lock out, or if they get raided by a member/members.

The OP is in the hands of whoever currently has the leader permissions, if they are a ‘good guy’ they will restore his/her position…if not then there is nothing to be done.

There is a relatively quick fix you can run yourself:

As long as a Guild has any members, one of them will always have ‘leader’ privileges….if you check the ‘ranks’ section it should tell you how many members are ‘leaders’.

If you started out as the only leader, then when you accidentally ‘demoted’ yourself, one of the other members will have been automatically ‘promoted’ to leader in your place. From there it’s going to be a little ‘hit or miss’, but if you ask each member to check what permissions they have – one of them should find they have all the boxes ticked.

Once you know who that is you just ask them to ‘promote’ you to leader and then ‘demote’ themselves back to whatever rank they were originally – or you may be able to do that (never actually tried demoting a ‘co-leader’ before).

This does depend on whoever has the permissions currently agreeing – if they refuse to promote you back up Anet will not be able to help, they don’t get involved in guild issues like this.

Hope this helps…and good luck. Let me know how things work out for you.

I eventually solved this one…with experience, seems that I was selling items for less than their ‘base’ cost allowing for deductions. So despite actually selling everything I did make an overall loss on the session because profit was exceeded by fees.

These days I’m doing much better

My Black Lion Claim Ticket Dissapeared!

You said you had collected enough scraps for your SECOND full ticket, unfortunately I think the cost of the item went up and it now needs THREE full tickets.

Check the cost on the vendor screen to confirm…if it has gone up then you need more scraps or a lucky drop of another full ticket. Also check that you have all of your full tickets in your inventory when you visit the vendor, they don’t go into your wallet like other currencies.

I had a similar problem (now fixed) with combined double click items jumping from inventory into bank in a different place to where they were at first, so make another check of your bank too just in case.

Hope this helps

Can't see AR when someone tags gear

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

If by AR you mean Armor Rating then no, you won’t see a single total figure only the ‘base’ rating for each piece posted. You would have to total the individual values yourself, or accept their word for their actual AR total including any other boosts/bonuses.

If you mean Achievement Rating, also no – that you would only see if they were in the same guild as you and could be checked in the guild roster screen, or added on your friends list.

All ‘tagging’ gear does is show you what items they have, what runes/sigils/infusions are on them – and give an idea how much they spent in time or gold to acquire them.

Neither are a real indication of actual skill or ability – so always going to be an element of trust or judgement involved.

Thanks for the input folks…

I had no pending sales at the time, seems like I simply forgot to take into account the %5 listing fee on the last transaction and only deducted the %10 figure.

Said I was new – LOL

Sorry…first time poster here.

I am aware of the commission fee, I mentioned that in the original post. My point was that at the end of the trading session I made a loss, instead of a profit after I collected from TP.

The cumulative commission fees exceeded the profit received from the sales, resulting in a loss. Hope that makes it clearer what I was trying to query

Just noticed today that the effect of the new LA content on TP prices seems to have pushed up the commission price too.

After three runs through LA and one circuit of the chests on the Queensdale Map, I actually lost money on selling accumulated loot on TP. Started with h43 gold…ended with h41gold (h standing for a figure I don’t want to mention).

So I either lost 2g on commission charges alone, or something is seriously wrong with the TP.

Anyone else noticed this?
