Atleast with this change people will be motivated to compete every week

It’s not motivating when you get stomped on the ground in the first few hours of a new WvW matchup with no way to ever be able to recover. You simply quit and wait for the next WvW reset.

It’s what is happening and will happen when one weaker server is faced with two stronger ones.

The two stronger ones quickly demolishes the weaker ones in order to gets the more points they can, then go fight one another while keeping and eye on the stomped one and crushing it again if it ever tries to raise itself even a little bit. Have fun finding motivation in that.

Problem is you don’t have enough servers to have such randomization put into effect.

With 100 or 200 different servers, you would have movement between tiers without having one server meeting one or two other ones much to powerful for itself.

Right now, there is simply too much difference in power between tiers to allow such a randomization.

The only way to have more variety in adversaries while keeping a reasonable challenge would be to add more server.

Have a hundred servers in that list and you’ll see variety and balance between adversaries. Right now, no matter what changes you’ll make, you simply don’t have enough servers to have that kind of balance. The difference of powers between some tiers is simply to great to make it an enjoyable experience to mix them up too much.

The engine change we’re making uses fallback models to represent characters until their detailed models are fully loaded. The fallback models are cached so that they can display without any asset load delay and there is a distinct fallback model for each race/gender/armor-class combination.

It would be even better if there was an option for something like “always use fallback models” available in the client for those with low specs machines.

This would help reduce the load on machines with limited graphics capabilities.

Why make it nso complicated? That vstill makes 30 different models to take into account, which is still a lot. Scrap the gender and race visuals. I have no need to know that a female charr or a male asura is in front of me. That would reduce the amount of generic skins needed to only 3. That would also help a lot in world events like the Karkas.

I don’t think it would be visually satisfying to have nothing but fallback models on the screen but we’re definitely exploring the right balance.

But some (many?) of us appears to think it would be satisfying. How hard would it be to make such an option available if it would satisfy some (a lot?) of your player base?

I care more about playability than visual satisfaction.

Always better to satisfy your clients’ wishes than your own wishes….

They never said that everything available in the cash shop would also be obtainable ingame. You can play the game fully and never spend one penny in the cash shop.

Minis are not an essential part of the gameplay. Forcing people to use the cash shop would be something like : “repairing broken armor is only doable with an item you can only get in the cash shop”.

I definitely think there is a bug in there.

2 times I stayed at the end after my teammates left the instance, and those 2 times I was never able to complete the success, even tho I looked everywhere and hacked at everything for 30 minutes or more each time.

I reentered alone this morning and completed it easily without having to look for a missed item to destroy. And from the past messages on this thread, I’m not the only one to whom it happened.

My feeling is that one/a few/many items are not taken into account if the player who destroyed it/them left the instance. If you are the one who destroyed it/them , then you can complete the succces, otherwise you cannot.

The main trouble is probably to locate that/those items that are causing the bug.

I hope you are aware that you’ll create another unbearable lag fest when Noll will be fixed. Eeveryone will be crammed where he is and it will be as unplayable as it was yesterday in Lion Arch…

Bad implementation on this one.

I hope you’ll learn to instance stuff or spread it out on a larger area next time.

I used this tactik myself. I’m not really a pvper.

When I went into WvW it’s mostly to get my points for map completion, so when I found myself in a pvp situation, I used the best method available to avoid it.

Remove any fees penalty associated with death and you’ll probably see this happen a lot less.

I don’t know what percentage of GW2’s playerbase is from Australia/Asia (or any other region for that matter), I’m just saying that I trust in ANet’s decision that the majority-majority is being covered at the time they chose. I (and ANet for that matter) could be wrong on that, and it seems logical to me that they’d pick a time that the majority-majority is available.

Anyone with some basics in consumer’s economics will tell you this is not the good way to do it.

In the entertainment business, if you ask yourself “will this satisfy the majority of my customer?”, you may well be running straight into a wall. The majority can be anything between 50.1% and 100%. No business want to displease up to 49.9% of its customers.

The real question you must ask yourself is : “How can I make something so it will please as many of my customers as possible?” In this case, ArenaNet is definitely not doing it the way it should. Doing it differently (repeating the event) would have pleased many more customers than how they choose to do it.

My prediction :

1 – Mad King comes back and start telling his funny jokes

2 – An emergency patch is realeased soon after to nerf Mad King’s jokes to make them much less funny

The only reason I can think of for it not being repeated is that this event will have permanent effects/changes on the game itself, like something appearing somewhere on the map and staying there after Halloween is over.

Otherwise, there are no reasons for not having it repeating over the course of the day.

So, some people were able to farm an event and get a lot of exotic items, and those who were not able to play at that time connot do it now that you nerfed it.

Be fair to everyone :

either :

- delete everything that was farmed in those chest prior to the nerf

or

- restore the drops as they were before for 24 hours so everyone will be able to benefit from it
