Waypoints

I’ve been running around lately to get my locations, because I feel like teleporting to a waypoint makes no sense, so I was thinking, with all the waypoint driven story in the new living world story, maybe something should be explained as to how we can just teleport to a waypoint when we’re in the middle of nowhere. Sure we could use our imagination and come up with something simple, but it still feels immersion breaking when you have to do that.

I know mounts will probably never come to the game, but I can understand why people would want them, it really makes no sense that your character can run for miles on end without getting tired. However I was thinking, maybe Arenanet could sort of split things down the middle so to speak. If a character is under a waypoint they could make it so there’s no cost to travel to any other waypoint. This would create the desire for people to run to a waypoint to teleport somewhere else, and it would also make more sense, since you would have to essentially be “using” the waypoint you’re at to move to another one.

So then the question is, well what if I don’t want to run to a waypoint or what happens when you die? I think there should be some lore introduced that would allow that to make more sense. Maybe something like your spirit energy becomes attuned to waypoints when you discover them, which in turn brings you back to life when you die, but also allows you to move to them from wherever you are on the map. However it creates more stress on the way point when you move to one when you’re not actually by one to begin with, and therefor you have to pay the standard fee for fast traveling that’s in the game now.

Just some things to think about, wondering what other’s thoughts on this are, or if I’m the only one after 2 years that still get’s annoyed by the waypoint system.

Guild Halls - any new information about them?

While I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Guild Halls, I really think it would be kind of redundant with how the game’s wvw already functions. I mean if you go to your worlds main wvw keep, it essentially already is sort of like a guild hall in itself. It has shops a trade broker, pretty much everything you could need, and then you can just go right back to where you were when you’re done. So unless they were going to make Guild Halls something completely different to what they were in GW1, then Guild Halls are already in the game more or less if you think about it.

The Ceremonial Plated Armor

I LOVE this armor set guys, seriously, but I can’t help but feel like Arenanet could make it better by allowing the “outfits” section to be worn in pieces like you’re regular armor. Also a Hooded version would be cool too. I don’t have anything against being an elementalist and looking like I’m wearing heavy armor, but I just personally think a hood version would be awesome as well. Think Diablo Tyrael for example.

I can see so much of this armor looking good combined with the Radiant skins too, or maybe some us would like to take the helmet off and see our hair.

So PLEASE Arenanet make “outfits” more “pieced” and consider making a hood version to the ceremonial plate.

Drooburt should start his own kickstarter. Seems like the common way to make a ton of money for doing nothing these days.

Can LS S2 episodes be skipped?

In relation to this topic, I’d like to be able to turn “off” the story mode if you’ve activated it again after beating it the first time, so that I don’t have the green star bugging me on the top of the screen. I only reactivated it because I wasn’t sure on how to restart the missions to get achievements, but I don’t feel like playing through every part of it again.

They’re incredibly pointless imo. The only thing I ever get out of them is a Geode, and that’s after sifting through like 100+ of them. Whereas you can get Geodes much more frequently from events, which are constantly going on.

It’s not that it’s really worth complaining about, because it is really just a bonus, but I mean 1 geode…is like…finding a penny on the ground. I could care less if I didn’t pick it up, but hey it’s still something I guess.

Which I guess would be the reason there’s no more actual dialogue cutscenes? This is not about you… It really doesn’t feel personal when you have to read everything your character says (which are very brief responses in most cases), while all the others actually have voice acting. I really don’t understand why they couldn’t include voice acting for the player character, but everyone else gets it.

Dry Top concept art

The first second i saw this art on the Gates preview page, I was extremely disappointed with it, and I still don’t like. Although I will admit that over time it has become more noticeable as to what anything is in the picture as far as a horizon line and such, but it really is just a mess of orange, they should really just stop with this art style.

I would prefer a more clear fantasy fairytale look in the future, I’ve never been enthralled by the muddy brush stroke stuff they’ve given to us.

So just so I’m clear on something, some stupid npc, that does nothing, and contributes to nothing except taking your money in the game, probably has earned more gold than me the entire time I’ve played the game from the start. Got it. Thanks Arenanet.

Please drop elementals active time

The pet is the ranger’s main class mechanic…theoretically, but it really isn’t. It’s nothing more than added dps to an already abundant pool, but if you wanna think of a pet as a rangers right hand, then shouldn’t an Elemental be the Elementalists? Also look at Necro’s, their minions last until they die.

Also in no way would this make the Elementalist dependent on elementals. I said nothing would change about their behavior and stats, you can choose to use them or not. I’m just looking to simply get rid of the active timer.

I think this would be cool, and yeah it would make sense for an elementalist, but I’d like to see a new skill set, not just a placement skin for d/S.

Please drop elementals active time

Hey Arenanet,

I play a glyph master ele and use Lesser Elemental and Greater Elemental as 2 of my skills, and I think it’d be a lot more fun to make it so there isn’t a time limit to how long elementals stay active. Sort of like a spirit master in other MMO’s. If you want to kill your current elemental to spawn a different one, just have a second skill appear over the glyph skill icon that kills the elemental, or have it die in combat, then wait the 60 seconds or whatever the cooldown is to spawn a new one from a different attunement.

I’m not saying they should be buffed or in any way changed to how they act right now, but I don’t see a point to them only lasting for 60 seconds at a time. I mean the Ranger gets a pet constantly at all times, why not allow the elementalist to have it’s personal pet as well.

I don’t see how in any way it could unbalance things either and it isn’t like Glyph ele’s are very common anyways, and I think allowing this could make things a little more fun for the elementalist.

So just a thought, hope you consider it.

Thanks.

It’s summer time, where’s the swimsuits for skrit’s sakes!? C’mon arenanet town swimsuit outfits:

Human Male: Speedo
Human Female: Bandeau Bikini
Norn Male: Swiming Trunks
Norn Female: String bikini
Asura Male: Trunks with yellow rubber duck inner tube
Asura Female: 1 piece with rubber pony inner tube
Charr Male: 50’s style red and white stripe swim suit
Charr Female: I dunno…pink and white…same style?

Just a few ideas to throw out there, but seriously it’d be fun to run around in swim suits over in the labyrinth. Just make sure they’re town outfits, ya know, those things that nobody uses right now.

Make the final final reward from the reward track a parachute! How fun and convenient would that be? I keep wanting to jump from the top of the Zephyrite ship and float down to the bottom, but instead i just keep falling flat to my death or in the water…meh. Not to mention the convenience it would have in other parts of the world as well

Armor Dye Option Request

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Brian.6435

Brian.6435

Hey Arenanet,

I’d like to request re-evaluating the dye areas of certain armors to have a little more customization. There are certain parts of armors that do not change no matter what pallet you alter, and to me, and anyone else who is has OCD about their armor appearance, can be very annoying.

Two armor pieces I want to specifically point out are the light armor pieces the Masquerade chest piece and the Inquest Leggings. The Masquerade chest pieces has a pinkish part on the front that has no color change and the Inquest Leggings have a gold sun emblem on the back that does not change.

Here’s two pics of the items to specifically point the areas out:

If you could make those two areas dyeable in a patch update it would really make my day!

If anyone else has any armor dye option requests, feel free to post them, this is just my personal suggestion. Also if this type of topic already exists I apologize, feel free to move the topic.

Anet: Making weapons appealing.

I would happy just to see the ability to add some sparkle to some of the well designed but otherwise dull skins. Perfect examples would be the Ebon Vanguard Staff skin and Seraph Staff skin, which I currently use. If you could enchant them to make them have some kind of glow and sparkle shine to them it would make them much cooler weapons.

CDI- Character Progression- Vertical

in CDI

Brian.6435

I quit playing gw2 over the summer, because of quite a few reasons, character progression was one of them. I don’t like the fact that the game doesn’t help you get to the level you need to be to progress in the story. You never had to worry about that in GW1. To me games are all about story first and foremost, and if you should just want to play characters through the story mode and do nothing else, then I should have that option without worrying about going off to do several events to get to the level recommended.

Speaking of the actual storyline, gw1 was better on one very specific level as well, the fact that each cut-scene was actually in game, in the environment. So much immersion is lost when every scene cuts to a painted background and two people talking.

I still to this day, because of character story and progression, pay and play Swtor and think it’s the best MMO out there. If I could pull anything from that game over to GW2 it would be the commendation system, which allows you to find and get planet commendations from quests and pve and exchange them for gear and other items that are actually really useful for your current level. The game rewards players like no other mmo out there does, and in a way that doesn’t detract you from what you’re already doing.

I would also like to see some incentive for playing regular pvp. Like in Swtor you can queue up for warzones and the new galactic starfighter, and you’re properly rewarded for it with Xp, credits, and commendations, which again you can use to actually get items for you pve experience. The amount of player choice in how you progress your character is what sets that game apart from others.

On a side note as well, the biggest reason I quite playing GW2 was because of the dungeons. There was no group finder mechanikittenil just recently, and I don’t even know how well it works, but not only that, but because I felt like every dungeon was just some trick or exploit to get through it. I mean really, stacking? What is this? How do let your game get away with something so unusual, and then it ends up being the norm on how to clear a dungeon, because if you try to get through it the “legit” way it’s virtually impossible without a well organized group? I like challenge, don’t get me wrong, but the challenge should come from people knowing how to properly play their class, not from knowing stupidly overpowered bosses that have terrible tells.

This to me all stems from the fact that the holy trinity was removed from the game, which I still to this day don’t think helped anything, as people still try to make Tank and healer builds with certain classes, as crappy as they may be to a truly dedicated healer or tank class.

With all that being said, still wish to see GW2 improve and I commend Anet for reaching out to their community to try and make it better, and I hope one day I’ll actually want to play the game again.

Ranger Traits Not Working

Carnivorous Appetite and Natural Healing do nothing for your pet.

Reported the bug yesterday in game and still no fix, yet there’s two hotfixes for Engineer today.

Why is there no instance match?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Brian.6435

Brian.6435

Simply put: Why is there no instance match in this game?

It’s probably the most convenient and useful feature that every other mmorpg out there has. Tera has had it since like day 1, Swtor eventually got it and was way before GW2 came out, there’s really no excuse for this to not be in this “next generation” mmorpg.

I’m not saying it’s incredibly hard to find groups, but it’s so much more convenient for the player to just queue yourself into an instance finder and let the system do all the work while you go about your buisness until it’s set up, not to mention, not having to be on the same map and spam LFG,. I mean it’s really like trying to argue that WTS and WTB is a better method these days than a trade broker.

So what’s the deal Arenanet?

Camera issue with Story Quest Accusation

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Brian.6435

First time I’ve done this story mission was last night and there was major issues with the camera when I tried to jump onto the cannon to destroy the mortar’s. I play a Ranger and I’m not sure if because of my Pet’s position that it might have been effecting it, but every time I tried to jump onto the cannon the camera would shake and glitch out and made it extremely hard to target anything.

Thank you.
