Experience rollback after patch

in Account & Technical Support

I’ve been getting frequent disconnects like everyone else since the patch but also experience or achievement rollbacks. What I mean is if I’m playing my level 4 Engineer and go up one level and complete Heart events in Queensdale and I get disconnected, when it reconnects I have lost all experience, achievements and % toward my daily.

I’m just gonna stop for the night and hopefully this will be fixed tomorrow. Very difficult to play if after a disconnect you lose everything you gained.

I would hate to think how mad someone would be in they picked up a precursor and then had the rollback affect them after a disconnect.

There should really be a test server like WoW has. It would be easy enough to move players off the lowest population server and make that one the test server instead of this nonsense happening every time there’s a patch and annoying your customers. Disconnects and bugs are expected on Test Servers. They’re rather unacceptable on the game servers since this patch has been in the works for some time.

Sorry for the bad input but this really needs addressing.

it seems I was mistaken, I did receive a serial code, a few days after I started playing the game. I found it in a notebook I had tucked away. I sent the information along in the support e-mail I received.

Actually I did not. I received a link (several in fact) to confirm my e-mail address and activate my account. I recall there were literally hundreds of posts from people who did not receive a serial code but where able to login and play anyway. I played all throughout the Beta and am in fact still using the original Beta files, I only needed to get the updates as the game progressed. never had an issue. I’ve also changed my password before and was not asked for a serial code.
I find it odd that the forums password is the same as my client and I can post on the forums but not login to the client.

Last night I had my best friend log on to my account and change my password (because of certain issues at home where I was forced to leave my desktop behind). I did this so that in case my roommates got it into their heads to delete my characters they wouldn’t be able to login to my account. I contacted my friend today (after having the issue resolved with my roommates) and he gave me the new password. However it seems my account has been disabled. Obviously I can post on these forums, but cannot access the game.
There was also an issue with Beta players (of which I am one) who never received a serial code, but the game ran anyway. I never received a serial code in my e-mail. The e-mail account in question is ONLY for GW2 so there is no chance that I would have deleted it or misplaced it. I have all correspondence including activation links in a special folder.
I was able to create a Support account and submit a ticket, but I have changed my password before and was never asked for the serial code of which I never received. My purchase was a digital download by the way.

Thank you Anet

Thanks for the beautiful landscapes. I have hundreds of screenshots that I post on my Facebook showing my friends what a beautiful work of art your game really is. Thank you for the thought put into the dialogue (not only the quest dialogues) but also the conversations between NPC’s that largely go unnoticed by many players. I often like to stop what I’m doing and listen to what’s being said. Some of it has been rather eye opening as to the complex relationships that exist between the races on this game (from a lore perspective).

But mostly thank you for listening to your customers when it comes to bugs and other issues and actually doing something about it. WoW had terrible customer service during Wrath of the Lich King due to the lead developer Greg Street telling the community that he would do as he pleased and make the game the way he saw fit, despite the feedback from the community.
You’ve not behaved this way. You’ve listened to us on some issues (explained why certain things couldn’t be done, rather than ignoring us like Ghsotcrawler did ) and for that I am grateful that such a big company actually cares about the concerns of it’s customers.

Being a fantasy role-playing game many people come here to escape the harsh realities of life and pretend for a while that what they do in the world actually means something to those in power and they are respected for it. The Personal Stories really bear this out and cause people to have a sense of being respected, whereas in real life respect (even when worked hard for) is almost never given.
Thanks again for allowing us players to escape our humdrum existence and for a little while be the people we wanted to be when we were children (before the harsh reality of the real world set in) and actually feel for a time that what we do makes a difference to others and the world at large.

I salute you.

Ele vs Necro I'm stuck

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Cathbadb.6079

Cathbadb.6079

I have both. I prefer the Necro far above the Ele. If it weren’t for my Ele having 400 Jewelcrafting and 375 Tailoring she’d be gone.

Ele with daggers is dodge, roll, dodge. roll and limp away trying not to get hit.

Necros with a higher base health Pool than most Warriors and Guardians are far more durable. Also with Death Shroud you effectively have two health bars rather than just one. Necros also have in their heal slot an ability to consume conditions (poisons, bleeds) which are a favorite attack of many NPC’s and players. So you can remove those conditions and survive longer. Actually the more conditions you have on yourself the greater the heals (unless you’re interrupted).
An easy test of this (how much base health they have) is to create a new character and as soon as you introductory quest is finished, go to the Heart of the Mists by clicking the crossed swords icon (PvP) at the top of your screen. You can then look at the health pool of your Necro, should be around 26,000 HP points. Ele is around 16,000.
This game is all about survivability and I can often tank bosses right along with Warriors and Guardians and outlast them, coupled with 3k attack and 51% crit I’d say that’s not too shabby.

Yeah Necro all the way.

Hate risens before. And now they are awesome!

I rarely go to Orr anymore. Since the Spark event was nerfed to where you actually have to complete the event in order to farm them I no longer see the point. Risen everywhere and it’s an exercise in futility trying to get access to the karma vendors in the temples when people don’t want to come because they have no breathing room. Beautiful scenery but difficult to enjoy if you’re under constant attack.
Actually since the November 15 patch nerfed t6 drops (except in fractals) I rarely venture outside of LA anymore (unless I’m leveling an alt). But Orr is definitely not on my list of vacation spots. I’ve completed my Personal Story on my Elementalist (killed Zhaitan in Arah story mode) and think it would be great to see a cleansed Orr (which is shown in the cinematics) or at least a less Risen populated as the mopping up operations continue. Why this isn’t done makes little sense to me, As has been stated in GW1 you had the pre-Searing world and then you had the post-Searing world (which was obviously bigger).
The cleansed Orr would be sort of a reward for those people who have completed their personal story and would encourage more players to actually complete it. As it sits I have four other characters who I have no intention of completing the Arah story mode because the reward is a very meh rare weapon who stats aren’t any better than the Exotic weapons I already had. I mean really, I killed Zhaitan (with help from others) and I get a Guild influence scroll, battleplans for PvP siege weapons and a token for a rare weapon that I just salvaged anyway. If anything the token should award an exotic weapon or something above exotic but less than Legendary for the effort it took to get to this point, or minimum new skins that I can buy at a minimum cost and not 20 g each.

Fix Charged Lodestones prices

If the drop rates were fixed (I’m looking at you November 15 patch) then there would be more available on the TP and the prices would drop. However in order for A-Net to make money, people are forced to buy gems, convert them to gold and buy the items at the inflated prices.

So if you were in A-net’s shoes what would you do?
We all know the answer to this. People aren’t buying the game because of the thousands of bugs in game and broken classes (word of mouth by disgruntled players have hurt their sales) so the company has to make their money elsewhere. Decrease the drop rates and encourage people to buy Gems.

Also how do we really know that the people posting these items on the TP are actual players and not simply A-Net itself? I mean they have the ability to post anything on the TP or game itself if they wanted to.
It’s like the CIA. They instigate a war (in this case a crafting war) and then sell guns to both sides. Either way they profit.

Anti-ascended gear: What do you want?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Cathbadb.6079

I keep playing however in the hope that A-Net will keep their promises they made pre launch. they have until August 2013.

Personally I would rather see them fix all the bugs and broken quests in this game BEFORE they release any new content.
I would also ask that the company ask their customers what we want.
Do we want a roll back to how things were pre-launch and therefore keep the promises they made in all their press releases OR do we want to keep the vertical gear treadmill that currently exist.
They should send a survey to every GW2 account via e-mail and ask we the players what we would like to see implemented. As it stands I feel like I’m playing WoW during Wrath of the Lich King where Ghostcrawler (Greg Street) did as he pleased and ignored customer feedback.

I really like the artwork in this game, the dialogue and the lore. However there exists many bugs that were in game in the betas that are still present. I myself have reported many bugs, often the same ones several times on different characters and they’re still a problem, blocking players from progression.
The betas were only three days long at the most, sometimes no announcement was given on Facebook as to them being open for testing and then the Asura and Sylvari races weren’t even playable until the last two beta weekends, thus denying A-Net valuable feedback on bugged quests, personal stories, crafting issues or racial problems. I feel the game was rushed at the very last moment.
I don’t want a shiny new game. I want the one I have fixed.

Of course this is just my opinion and I don’t expect others to agree with it. I just feel as a customer I should give some feedback.

On the positive side the artwork is amazing and I can clearly see A-Net did a wonderful job on the environments and the NPC’s dialogues which have me laughing quite often.
I love this game, but sometimes love isn’t enough to keep a person coming back for more. I play less and less every day and have stopped Fractals altogether. Now it;s simply map completion and PvP (where horizontal progression does exist as far as I can tell from my limited experience).

Anti-ascended gear: What do you want?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Cathbadb.6079

Personally I don’t care for treadmills. I played 4.5 years of WoW and 1 year of Rift and they did the same thing. I raided constantly in both games but became burnt out due to the constant need to upgrade my gear through farming mats or money to buy mats to upgrade my gear. GW2 is no different than any of those others. All the publicity about this game was that things were going to be different, but it’s all the same as the others, just different scenery.
I know A-net apologized for the Fractals but what have they actually done about it? So far just empty promises and the notion of “moving forward”. It’s the middle of January and still no patch nor any word on when it will be implemented. “Soon” is not an answer.
If I were a shareholder and the CEO told me that we would have a meeting “soon” about the direction of the company I would be very irritated. Or if my bank told me they would consider me for a loan “soon” or that the “possibility” was in the near future but they couldn’t give a definite answer, it’s likely I would take my business elsewhere.

This company attracted millions of people because of their promise of a non-grinding horizontal progression. This has proved to be either bad marketing, a blatant lie or a change in direction without notifying the player base of their intentions and asking for feedback before being implemented. You might say that the company doesn’t require player feedback before making changes, but the real world shows this to be blatantly false. Automobile companies don’t produce the same car every year. They conduct surveys and ask people what they would like to see incorporated on next year’s model. They also listen to feedback on what was wrong with last year’s models and work to improve those things.
This company gives very little feedback and often locks or deletes posts that do not agree with their view of how the game should be. Just peruse the forums and look for responses by any A-Net employee for proof of this. To be sure we are told they read these forums, but are we really to just take their word for it when communication in the past has been not very forthcoming?
I have found the game to be less about fun and more about making gold to buy mats to get better gear, something this game wasn’t supposed to be about. Entire zones are empty because people are in Lion’s Arch LFG for Fractals. Karma vendors aren’t available on some servers because there aren’t enough people doing the events to clear an area to make the Karma vendor appear. Why? Fractals.
Also certain items are so insanely expensive compared to the drop rate of certain items. Karka shells are needed in the tailoring 400 armor, yet the drop rate is abysmally low. Passiflora drops are almost non existent in Lost Shore and the zone may have 5 players maximum (on Tarnished Coast) at any given time. last night a few of my fellow Guild members went to farm the rich Orichalcum node and fought the veteran Karka, only to have it drops whites, greens and blues? Seriously? For as much damage that NPC does only to have it drop worthless items is a severe dereliction in coding.

Anti-ascended gear: What do you want?

Personally I would be happy if they rolled the game back to how things were Pre-Launch. I played through all the betas and thoroughly enjoyed the game. After launch though several professions were nerfed because some complained that certain professions were too OP in PvP. The solution would have been to put a debuff on those professions upon entering Structured PvP or WvWvW rather than nerfing the profession in all areas (including PvE). I no longer play my Elementalist because of the nerfs. She just doesn’t have the feel that she did in the betas. Of course many people play Ele’s and I just suck at the profession, but all the dodging in the world won’t help you survive the red circles that To my way of thinking a profession with the lowest armor should have the highest dps, but Thieves currently hold that spot at the moment and they have far better armor than clothies. Then you have Necros which have higher HP than many Warriors or Guardians due to their self inflicting damage spells that boost their dps output, yet if played a very particular way a player never has to utilize those skills at all and can actually tank as well (if not better) than the heavier armored professions. Something just seems very wrong about this.
GW1 had the unique ability to add more spells (rather than armor) as you leveled up and your triumph or failure was more dependent upon which spells you ran around with rather than the armor stats you had. Now I will say I only played Prophecies right before the launch of this game in order to get a feel for the game play. In the betas I quickly realized that despite what A-Net said (about horizontal progression) there would in fact be a vertical progression gear treadmill. Why else do we have 80 levels? Why do we have Common, Master, Exotic and now Ascended gear?

In my opinion the armor should all have the same stats and would simply look different. This would eliminate the gear treadmill that so many players hate.
Also RNG in this game is simply terrible. Pre November 15 patch you could farm t6 craftables in Frostgorge or other areas and expect to get a few in an hour. Now you’re very lucky to get one in three-five hours, but they drop all over the place in Fractals. Pre-Launch we were told dungeons would be optional and would only be for people who wanted different skins for their armor. We all know that isn’t true. People farm dungeons for tokens to buy armor that is nigh impossible to craft for the average casual player who doesn’t have a lot of cash to spend in the Gem Store buying gold to purchase said armor or t6 items. Also Fractals took people out of the world and so many servers no longer farm the events in Orr so the karma vendors are most time unavailable to those ones who wish to purchase gear with karma. An exotic gear vendor in LA would alleviate this problem.

I understand the company has to make money, but stealth nerfing drops (not telling the community what they intend to do or have done in the patch notes) is misleading and very bad business. people are forced to run Fractals and or buy gems. I myself am physically disabled and have a limited income and cannot buy gems. But even if I could there is only so many items on the TP in the first place because of the loot nerfs in open world (which the players figured out and A-Net has feigned ignorance about).
Consider what happened to Nations Bank a few years back when they announced they would charge $5 for every use of their credit/debit cards. People were outraged and thousands promptly closed their accounts. NB lost millions of dollars before this was even implemented but the damage was done and their good reputation tarnished. Same goes for this game when the Devs nerf something and or change an important selling point and tell us all that we simply have to live with it. Actually no we don’t. They may have the money we paid for the game, but that doesn’t mean we will buy anything from their gem store. They actually lose out in the long run.

GW1 set the stage for GW2 and what it could be. Word of mouth made this game popular and word of mouth (by players) can kill it as well.

I’ve not played my Necro in two months and was unhappy with it when I did play. Still I felt like I was missing some information and was more willing to chalk the problem up to my own misunderstanding of the class than the class itself being broken. Now I have a level 80 Elementalist, a 50 Guardian and yesterday (after reading Sheobix’s comments) I started playing my necro again. One thing I did was go to the Mists (the pvp area) to test certain skills, and weapons. I chose the scepter/warhorn build and the staff. I leveled to level 27 and went to Gendarrin Fields. I found that I had great power (specced 10 pts in Spite, 4 in Curses and 3 in Blood Magic). All my armor is Condition damage and Precision.

Following Sheobix’s advice I was able to solo a level 27 Champion I don’t mean the Veteran, but the Champion (the one with crossed swords through his portrait) which usually takes a 5 or more person group to bring down. Then just to make sure I wasn’t just lucky, I pulled 15 of the other centaurs running around, including 3 Veterans. Killed them all easily and never went below 1/2 health.
I very much appreciate low level builds as most level 80 builds fail to mention what points were put where/weapons used/armor used pre level 80.

Thanks Sheobix so much for your guide. I have only one question. In another thread you mentioned a Juggermancer build thread. I cannot seem to locate it. Would you be so kind as to post a link to it?

I had my Necro speced out for Precision (crit) and Condition damage (DoT) and found myself dying quite a bit. So I did what I do with my Elementalist and speced pure Power (attack) with some Precision thrown in for good measure. I went back to the same zone where I was previously getting pawned same level mobs and rolled over everything easily. I also don’t use the Axe or Focus as the abilities linked with them don’t do much damage. I found a Scepter and off hand Dagger to be much better and of course a Staff.
