Envy – Fort Aspenwood
“Believe in yourself … because the rest of us think you’re an idiot”
Not to mention the rifle itself has little in the way of utility you can actually use to keep yourself alive when targeted. Rifle butt’s nice but only really useful if you’re in a large group. In small numbers think really fast because you have about 1 second to come up with something before you’re back in melee again.
If they try to 1v1 you, you simply 2 their face on finisher, 3, kill at least some one and continue fighting.
Honestly if they get you down when you’re alone you can smash the 2 button as much as you like, it will never buy you enough time to get vengeance off. you have a 1 second cast time on an interrupt to a short channel with extremely slow projectile velocity (can take nearly a second to connect even at point blank range) and even if you do get it off, you’ve just bought yourself 2 seconds … too bad about that other 5 seconds you needed for vengeance to become available.
In short if someone actually is asleep enough to let you get back up in vengeance, they deserve everything they have coming to them, otherwise enjoy the scenery on your run back.
Well from what I’ve seen using it, if an enemy is in melee range at activation they get hit by every single hit that they should be … outside of that range though and you won’t get a single hit. On a slightly unrelated note the targetting of the skill itself sometimes seems to whirl in the opposite direction to where I’ve aimed sometimes as well. Kind of a downer when I’ve been trying to whirl out of a WvW zerg only to go deeper in.
There’s also the fact that each Charr as a rite of passage are expected to design some new technological advancement that helps the race as a whole. Seems like a pretty strong driving force for their explosive scientific advancement.
Honestly as far as Charr perceived intelligence in GW1 goes it’s actually fairly understandable. You have a few people at the top convincing their entire race to give them all the power because they alone can talk to their “gods”. The last thing they’re going to do is encourage the value of a good education.
As to their sudden leap forward in technology, the Charr are easily the most warlike race in Guild Wars … take a guess where most of humanity’s big leaps forward in technology have come from. To this day the biggest technological motivator is still thinking of a new way to blow the other guy up otherwise he might think of it first.
I actually use this setup for pve and wvw and it puts out solid damage while being relatively hard to put down.

With full “knight’s” armour and weapons and “berserker’s” trinket slots it sits at about
2850 power
49 (54 with sigil)% crit chance
52% crit damage
2700 toughness
23k health
Basically you can maintain perma fury through your utilities, 10+ stacks of might through weapon swapping and heavy condition removal and bonus healing with your shouts. It is a pure melee setup though which isn’t everyone’s thing plus some bosses really do need a ranged weapon. You can always swap out the axe/shield for a rifle though in these situations so it’s not crippling. Also with the high crit chance omnomberry pies will go a long way to extending your survivability while adding more precision to help your damage along.
Personally never even started on signets since I prefer a more active playstyle. Using Mending over healing signet due to better spike damage control as mentioned above and the double condition removal. Combined with the Restorative Strength trait in the Strength trait line 90% of the time it’s a full condition wipe.
Utility wise I run with balanced stance because I honestly can’t imagine playing a warrior without it, and the “For Great Justice” and “Shake it Off” shouts for the extra stun break on shake and the extra condition removal with 6 Soldier Runes bonus.
Generally run Sword/Axe hybrid direct and condition damage double assault with rifle backup to maintain bleed pressure and excellent anti kiting tools. Direct damage is only slightly behind a GS build with the added benefit of hideously large stacks of bleed and a 4 second immobilise on a 10 second timer. Without any boon duration at all it’s capable of 100% uptime on the fury buff for a maintained 98% crit chance … which is generally the point of a full signet build anyway.
Edit: Forgot to add a link to the actual build

Full “Knight’s” gear for WvW or PvE give it some serious staying power without losing much damage at all.
