I have a question. Has anyone from Anet confirmed how the orb mechanic will function? Do we actually know what kind of stat buff will be bestowed on the server that holds the orb or is it all just speculation at this time?
No, nothing definite has been said. However in the livestream and in various places they’ve referred to this being a new version of the “orb mechanic”, and the following quote from Devon in the GvG thread (which is worded differently from the one he made here) implies Bloodlust will have some sort of disruptive effect on them:
WvW is a game type that we believe very strongly in. We’ve seen that people have been organizing their own combat in WvW and that’s really cool, but WvW requires changes that are not always in step with the gameplay that has been emerging. Our focus is on making WvW as strong as it can be and we will continue to make changes with that in mind. We have been and will continue to discuss these open field battles, but in the meantime the changes we make to WvW will always have that game type first and foremost in mind.
Emphasis mine. If Bloodlust is not going to be in step with an arranged fight between even numbers in an empty corner of the map, it seems logical to assume it will directly effect combat performance.
But, “WvW requires changes that are not always in step with the gameplay that has been emerging,” could also refer to all the new mastery lines and abilities that have been added. It doesn’t necessarily follow that it will be something that effects combat performance.
I was defending Lake when someone tried this and I believe that all it accomplishes is the destruction of the bridge and it does not create an entrance to the tower.

On SoS we are pretty “business casual” when it comes to WvW — no all calls or gear checks although we will try and steer you towards PVT and away from Zerker. I think most guilds in SoS will fit your criteria but I am inclined to say that you would be a good fit with FANG too. You can find out more about them at http://www.emerald-fang.com/
I am not a member of Fang but I run with them regularly and they are a good bunch of people. They schedule guild missions/dungeons/temple runs regularly for those that want to join in and have three active commanders. No matter what time I log in there are always at least a few in WvW with a heavy WvW presence during reset, weekends and at least one weeknight. I know they also have a bunch of people who enjoy theorycrafting builds.
For sure! Can I ask more about what timezone you play and what you’d be looking for in a guild? Basically what does small and casual mean to you?
Most of our guilds are PvX in that they do both PvE and WvW but tend to lean in one direction more than the other. Off the top of my head ENVY might be a good fit.
Queues on SoS during NA are the exception rather than the rule. Outside of reset I find myself in queue maybe once a week and it’s usually less than 15 minutes. I do know we often have queues on the home borderland during reset if you’re not quick to get into WvW right when it resets. But since I’m really good at spamming F I can’t tell you how long they might be.
We bashed on Bay door for 1 minute (2 reg rams and 25 people) and were met by 6 insta-built arrow carts… .
Was this last night? If so I need to tell you that your estimate was a little off. When I cleared siege from Bay after we eventually took it I found 8 superior ACs aimed at the center gate. ;P
I ended up deleting my post, I think I was just upset and wanted to vent about it a little. OKAY SO I’M AN EMOTIONAL GIRL, hence me deciding to gtfo before I sent him a message about how he hurt my feelings and that it wasn’t a very nice thing to do.
But as a side note, it wasn’t just a random commander. I mean, it was one of the main ones on our server that I see on every single day.
I just want to say that I think your reaction is a very common one and that people deserve whatever time they need to process an upsetting incident. Vent away!
The other thing I want to say is that we have a commander that sounds similar on our server. Some people follow this person but others vote with their feet by grouping up with their guildies or other friends and doing small ops when this person is tagged up and berating everyone.
I don’t think anyone cares about WvW on a thursday night unless the score is incredibly close. So taking a t3 keep is the same as taking a wooden tower.

Yes, I can tell how little you cared by the fact that you dragged your entire zerg back to your BL as soon as we capped hills and then tried to join on my party to ascertain our position. Total apathy.
its not that your 1 and 2 are false, its that theyre mishandling 3 by assuming the playerbase is too dumb to be a volunteer qa team.
I wouldn’t say that the playerbase is too dumb but I would say that non-professionals (and even some professionals) underestimate how much effort and detail go into providing a qa report of sufficient quality that it is actionable.
1. The Anet team wants to put out the best product they possibly, reasonably can;
2. They are competent at their jobs and they know their product and code base better than anyone on this forum;
3. Like most companies they are working with limited resources and they are using their best judgment in light of 1 and 2 above to allocate those resources.
In short, I am assuming good intentions of the Anet team. Some people here do not or believe that there’s a “simple” solution that the team is too stupid to recognize. I personally have found very few simple solutions in life. YMMV.
i didnt know asking for bugs to be fixed was being entitled or difficult, it is after all there jobs.
i find it more insulting that the blame is being shifted to the player base.
I didn’t see that. What I saw was a dev saying that the reports provided did not give the type of info needed for them to reliably replicate and therefore fix that bug.
And I saw a lot of people using some pretty insulting language toward the dev(s). They’re people too. Treat them they way they’ve been treated on these forums and they’ll be less likely to listen to the users and start to feel that nothing they can do will make a difference. People aren’t motivated by negative reinforcement. That’s just human nature.
Tower gates remain glitchy for a while, people complain.
ANet dev has the glitch happen to him, reports that on the forums to us plus the fact that they were able to gather and have some real data to pass on to getting it fixed at a high priority… people complain.
There’s a very distinct point here where complaining has no further value.
if we keep complaining, anet may realize that tossing devon up to be the forum kitten isnt quite enough to keep us happy. the complaints here are that we arent being listened to despite anets claims to the contrary.

Normally I’d agree with you, but in this case the term is in fact gender neutral. For example, one of Elizabeth IIs titles is Lord of Mann.

This happened to us last night but the keep had paper gates. You’ve never seen anything fall so fast. We had a scout there and our zerg responded right away but we still didn’t make it to outer before it flipped.
A 10 golem rush on garri with a paper gate? Were you late for dinner, TC? It flipped before we could even run there from citadel. Our 25 player zerg must be very fearsome indeed to inspire that. :P
I love it when our commanders use TS but I’d dc in white hot second if they adopted the style of the dude in this video. At least his channel mates seem to be having fun with him.
