I think the kittenumptions that everyone is making are:

1) The current ratings of servers are valid. They are not because we are not getting enough varied match-ups to even generate valid data. Trying to judge the quality of a server based on their current rating is much like judging the quality of people’s Reddit posts by the average # of up-votes they get.
2) How big a spread will make a game a blowout? Is 400 rating points even a significant difference? Really its just a number with very little meaning right now. Once this system starts working (based on the math of the system the idea is that a rating +/- deviation is in fact an accurate measurement of the range of what their rating might be in a perfect world so this is technically the way this whole thing was supposed to work from the get go.

I don’t want to do all of the probability math right now, but with absurdly high certainty there will only be a small amount of randomization each week as in order for a situation like Kaineng moving up to T1 to occur, every server from Blackgate to Maguuma would have to roll a lower range number than Kaineng, and some of them would literally have to roll almost -100% while Kaineng rolls almost +100%. As the blog post stated, at the end of the day we are really just going to see a bit of nice slight subtle movement so that match-ups are less stale, and eventually ratings are more accurate.

Just my thought on possible matchup changes for the patch. I believe it could be a good starting point for the long term if this is the route they are going. Discuss.

2) Dragonbrand is climbing the ranks because of good players. You can have a full server and still lose a WvW match. Quality over Quanitity.

I will just say fighting thief is a waste of time unless you want to. But usually they chase you and don’t let you go because they think they can own you and usually they do own you at the end if you choose to fight. XD

There are too many times I go get my poi/visa with my low level in the WvW map and suddenly some thief came out of nowhere and murdered me at those non tatical locations, ie the 3 skill points in the BL. This won’t happen to other class because I’d have stayed away when I see them.

You feel the hostility and you don’t want to hang around there, but they just don’t let you go. In fact, the thief class is designed so good that the dedicated thief players fit perfectly into the role.

The class is just a tool. It’s the people who play it decides its role. You can make it a dark evil character who does its assassin things. Or it can be a support who save lives using the stealth out of a nasty situation.

I just hope those who enjoy the assassin part don’t over extend themselves into real life. Even though a video game is designed to let people experience things that real life cannot, there is a tendency that many real life crimes are commited because the people learn too much and apply it from TV/movie/games. Just a reminder. :P

I’d like to see 17 tiers rather than 8 and 9.. Latency doesn’t really seem to be an issue for those across the world on our server.. point is.. it would probably give even more balanced matches.

I prefer the BL’s without the orbs.. Such a better place without them.

Keep the orbs in the trashcan where they belong.

The mistake is not map rotation.. the mistake is adding PvE content like vista, SP’s POI’s and JP’s to WvW.. If that was not added this would not be an issue..

If your looking to meet some new faces, kick some kitten, and have fun doing it.. take a look at Tarnished Coast.. Another guild from SoS is also in the process of transferring here.

When your actual job becomes secondary to WvW.

Personally I see next week being really good for TC, why because its the most populated server of the three, no not wvw population just over all. With all the new stuff coming I can see a lot of pve players coming out of the wood work to try wvw. Though time will only tell.

I’d be happy to train those people as well.

Here’s my fix for tomes.. The regular gets what 3 messages when it gets supressed? Give the tome twice that. It always gets me on that last order.. so I mean … just double the total before a tome can be suppressed..

And the squad feature is completely useless. I hardly ever use it, and the color of squad hurts my eyes for whatever odd reason..so I don’t use it.

I’ve noticed a few more join our EU time as well.

I’ll be having a day like that today or tmrw. Not sure yet. Have the next days off.. can’t wait.

TC and FA are a lot closer to KA than your think. A guild or two reallly is difference for TC….. FA not sure.

Only thing I expect is more people leaving the game. There is so much hype and expectation on this patch. I really hope it goes well, but I’m not crossing my fingers on anything.

Is it true that Anet and the Machine aka “Culling” have teamed up against the WvW players to prevent it being the best PvP experience possible??? I have had strong suspicions, but now I think it may be clear. I don’t approve of a game where I am cheated out of my experience and a formal explanation would be nice on the current situation. Yar.

Merge NA/EU servers together, have 17 tiers.

There is nothing wrong with golems. If you have a scout at your keep, golems wouldn’t be an issue. They get eaten alive by arrow carts. End thread/

Excellent post Karuna .. but I just wanted to add, in case there’s a misconception, we DO have bodies in overnight Oceanic and Euro, just not the same numbers some of the T1 servers have. So if you come, you won’t be alone shouting out in map and hearing an echo coming back. I’d wager our Oceanic and Euro crew are tougher than the typical militia and guilds out there, simply because they’ve had to work with less to do more. And even when hit full on by some of the bigger servers, we manage to keep hold of our northern half of the map and garrison and fend off all the angry red guys.

Adding a few more happy faces to map during those times will just make our WvW efforts that much stronger.

As someone who frequently plays WvW. I can tell anyone who is not too familiar with TC, that this is a serious WvW server.. We are always looking to improve. Our NA presence is very strong. We just need more Oceanic players to maintain the headstart we get, and we will be golden. I just hope other recruits are on the same page as the rest of us. Those that join can be apart of something legitimate. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me. Cheers.

The JP’s seriously need to be removed from WvW along with the POI’s, vistas, SPs..
