How can somebody be this disillusioned about the game; try seeing the big picture please.
I think that “disillusioned” is not the word that you were after.
I’d also suggest that the tone of my post and video, by thanking foes and allies, does exactly what you suggest and focuses on the big picture.
<shrug> As a WvW commander of 12 months I’d hope that my individual contribution wasn’t insignificant.I guess my point is that you being on the highest pop/best coveraged servers makes your individual effect on these “wins” insignificant. You could have not logged in once and the results wouldn’t have been any different.
I also value the contribution of all the individuals who made up the guilds I ran with, these wins came from the effort of the many people working together. When the individuals you call ‘insignificant’ don’t log in on otherwise competitive servers, that’s when you get point blowouts.
<shrug> This fails as both an insult and history:Good job transferring to the most stacked server 3 times?
The Elite was on HoD as foundation members of TA. Those who were there know that TA picked HoD precisely because it was not one of our pre-release servers and we wanted a clean sheet. Free transfers put paid to that.
Again, those have played WvW for the past year, know that TA disbanded and, if the guilds kept playing, they went to other servers to spread our guilds around. SoS was competitive, but not prime, when I transferred.
When DiE stopped playing and I transferred to Blackgate, it hadn’t won a Tier 1 match. BG built the community by recruiting – as have JQ and SoR – and I’m playing alongside guilds I used to fight against – War Machine, for example.
Regardless, the WvW action is enjoyable, and commanders like Indo and Waha, and guilds like FEAR, SONG and TW, always bring a good fight.
I’d hardly say being on a server that flips everything whenever everyone else is asleep skillful.
And that’s why I used HoD material showing us on the defensive. The guilds we played against, particularly before Team Legacy imploded, were competitive. To say otherwise disrespects them and/or is just particularly lazy trolling.
With the end of last week’s NA match, I had my 50th WvW “Tier 1” win.
I ran with three guilds in doing so: The Elite, Henge of Denravi; Darkness is Everywhere (DiE), Sea of Sorrows; and Center of Attention (CA), Blackgate.
The intent of this post (and the linked video) is to mark this milestone. Thank you to those I’ve fought with, and against. The Oceanic and SEA community is alive and well. Thank you also to the NA guilds that stay up late (and for reset on our Saturday mornings). The WvW experience that GW2 offers would not have been such great fun without you.

To answer a few of the questions:
- Pristine Fractal Relics are not included. I am not a designer so I cannot accurately comment on why they are not included.
- At this point the wallet supports core currencies, not seasonal/festival/temporary currencies. At this time we have no plans to add those to the wallet.
- Jugs of Karma will remain an item and can be used as usual. The karma you gain from them will then be stored in the wallet and will be accountwide.
Martin,
the change is a welcome one – focused on improving player experience.
I’m almost certain I know the answer, but re ‘core currencies’, as a WvWer one of these core currencies for me is WxP. Which I imagine still remains character, rather than account bound.
This seems to me to be the obvious exception to the design philosophy behind the wallet. Can I ask that consideration be given to making WxP account bound?
While [CA] wasn’t mentioned in FEAR’s trashtalking of BG’s SEA guilds (we span that tz), the video below records my perspective of the WvW week, focussing solely on engagements with SoR. There was one encounter with FEAR in which some militia on both sides died but was inconclusive.
It also includes some footage of when CA wasn’t on in force and when I attached to ND and MERC.
I’ve been a PvPer since pre-Trammel UO, but in terms of WvW the action three nights ago on the defacto “Tier 1” matchup of SoR (1) / BG (2) / JQ (3) was one of the most epic sessions of PvP I’ve ever experienced.
BG was focused by SOR/JQ in a series of running battles that lasted about 3 hours. There were multiple times when we hit by both servers.

With The Elite and DiE having moved on, I fairly recently joined up with CA. Three nights ago in EB was one of the most epic sessions of PvP I’ve experienced with BG being focused by SOR/JQ in a series of running battles that lasted about 3 hours. There were multiple times when we hit by both servers.
This is not a complaint.

Our latest video is The Interior Defense in a siege. This video shows defense of towers and keeps from the inside, using a combination of siege weaponry and blockers.
The video contains probably my favorite memory of GW2 beginning at the 2:58 mark.
And there was never any finer music to WvW to than the 1812 overture.
The videos linked below are taken from two of Australia’s top WvW guilds, both long standing and both part of Titan Alliance’s Oceanic enforcement arm during the early days of HoD’s WvW dominance.
The videos are themed as follows:
The Gladiator’s Salute. A video showing times when there’s nothing else to do but die fighting.
The Use of the Killsack. A video showing the use of concentrated fire in a “killsack” to decimate your enemies.
Hammer and Anvil: The Tactical Envelopment. A video showing the use of the envelopment (an advanced form of flanking) in GW2 WvW.
The Elite Serverbombs Sea of Sorrows. A video showing The Elite server-bombing SoS, back in the days of free transfers. Ironically, DiE eventually moved to SoS and was part of the push that took SoS from T2 to the number 1 NA spot for several weeks.
The Kelly Gang. A video showing WvW encounters with TKG – another Oceanic guild.
