Unless they like that sort of thing
Also, once again I laughed at the image of the flailing arms…I’m thinking of wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man style arm waving.
Totally brought this up
I’ve run into this a couple times with other enemies. seems like sometimes they just decide they don’t like somebody and just get stuck on them. Worst was the risen priest of melandru in ruined shore. It went after me every time I showed up, even after I had died and stayed away for ten minutes. As soon as I showed back up it was right back after me. The next day it was doing the same thing to some other poor guy.
Probably just a weird hiccup in the agrro routines or something. That… or maybe it just doesn’t like the way you chew your food. :p
Somewhat related note: CCP clarified here that they were just a time code reseller (Eve time codes are roughly equivalent to GW2 gems ), and that the only way any Eve credentials could have been stolen is if you set up a playspan account using the same credentials as your game account.

So it sounds possible that some of the details of this article may be incorrect and the impact may be somewhat overblown.
That said, as a former guild wars 1 player with a linked guild wars 2 account, I’ve already changed the email and password for my guild wars 2 account just to be safe, and I’d like to see some official word from arenanet on exactly what connection playspan has to guild wars 1, if any, and what risk this breach actually poses to guild wars 2 players, if their accounts are linked to old guild wars 1 accounts. (I imagine those without linked account are probably at relatively little risk)
Yeah, that’s a crazy stupid tough fight. But I guess they’re all supposed to be that way. My boyfriend did Grenth the other night and said it was just as ridiculous.
Like you I felt like there were times I just got hit by … something that destroyed half or more of my health.
Really to me the little spike things were the worst, cause on the rust colored platform the little red circle for them is so hard to see.
That and for some reason he just seems to sometime pick some poor jerk to go after endlessly. First time I tried the fight it was me. Every time he’d destroy me, I’d respawn, go mess around somewhere else, go back in and poof, right back on me. Couple days later I pitched in again and the same thing happened to another guy. It’d be nice if that reset after a bit, cause it sucks being a punching bag.
I’d say big thing is just bring lots of stun break, cause if you can move away after jumps to you or hits you with something you have a chance of surviving.
I agree, the puzzles are a bit punishing with the camera, but a buddy of kine made a max height norn and apparently he has it way worse.
One thing I thought of after doing troll’s end last night was maybe trying to use my elixir S and see if the shrink helps at all in tight spots. Might try that tonight and see.
Iron Legion Engineer. Easy choice for me
The only thing that’s really bugged me about charr armor is some of the jaw placement for masks in medium armor and the way the shoulder pieces all seem so floaty. I’d also like to see the long coats not clip with our tails so bad, and I’d love to see real cloth simulation to make the long coats less blousy.
But as far as other problems at least in my experience the texture are all pretty good no weird folds or stretches like with worgen in WoW.
Charr armor ain’t perfect but it’s a hell of a lot better than what I’ve seen with differently proportioned races in some other games.
Kinda sums up the Whines for WvW. Don't come in if you can't take a joke

rofl, good to see some people have a sense of humor on here.
I agree with EnochDagor. Never played DAoC, but I did play WoW, and having to grind for PvP gear just so I could survive a hit or two to play PvP was horrible, especially after I got to spend an inordinate amount of time grinding gear before I could do raids in PvE.
Playing the game is fun. Yes it’s all made up and the point don’t matter. It’s still fun. Cripes, I’ve spent decades wasting time playing FPS games where my victory doesn’t last beyond the end of a fifteen minute match and the extent of progression is figuring out where the BFG happens to spawn. New players would do strange and radical things that would kill you all the time and nobody patched it out because you were lucky if the development studio was still around a month after launch. Playing this is like the old games my friends and I used to have of backyard king of the hill that would last all summer.
/old man rant
(not that old… I’m only 29… but still yeesh you guys).
Yes, there is no point. There is no ultrashiny bauble of beatdown™ that you get for playing for a day, a week, a month, or a year. The best you can get is a (ugly imho) special skin on a piece of armor or a weapon, and at best it’s perfectly on par with the one some n00b who got lucky just killed you with.
If you need somebody to hang a carrot in front of your nose to play a game you’re doing it wrong. It’s a game, you’re supposed to play it because it’s fun.
Maybe it’s just cause I spent a while playing eve, but I have to agree with folks that are tired of hearing the constant carping about night capping. (slight aside, my server’s currently crushing our opponents. not sure how we’re doing it, god knows I don’t contribute much. That being said, it doesn’t change the validity of what I’m saying here, I’d still be saying it if we were being handed our heads.)
Arenanet told you, from the start they saw WvWvW as an all out warfare mode that would last for two weeks 24/7. They also told you that you’d be able to play on any server in any region you wanted, to accommodate traveler’s or people with friends in other countries, or whatever.
Your failure to put that together and realize that it would mean people might undo your successes in wuvwuv while you slept does not entitle you to demand it be shut off while you can’t play, or that the contributions of those who play while you sleep should be counted as lesser.
Learn from people who play other 24/7 games like Eve. Reach out to your fellow players who live in other time zones, and work to forge alliances so somebody can be on your server to fight the good fight 24/7. Find guilds full of those horrible people (just a little jealous) that can work 8 hours a day then play all night and still go back to work the next day with a smile and not hate themselves and the entire world (a lot jealous). Establish a guild that sets out to recruit people that work swing shift (or graveyard at a job where they can play games :p).
The other thing to remember is the matching system is still getting started, and we have no idea how it fully works. I would assume Anet has something built in to look at server populations over time and adjust your rank up or down depending on how active your player base is outside of the various prime times. If they don’t shame on them, but it’s not like they can’t eventually implement it. This is just the second week of wuvwuv going week long, it’s going to take some time for the ranking system to shake things out properly. Play the game, enjoy yourself where you can, and give it time before you start shouting for “SOMETHING TO BE DONE!”
That or continue complaining like this and see where it gets you, I guess.
I run a charr engie as my main, and yeah some of the armor looks really dumb on them.
The biggest issues seem to come from the coat, helmet/mask, and shoulders.
A lot of the long coat ones just blouse out around their legs, hiding your pistols and clipping really badly with the tail. Some of the hats and masks also look a little funky, and the shoulderpads can look very floaty, like they’re not attached to your armor. That said there are a few bright spots, and if you have a some transmutation stones you can make a decent set up.
Here’s an image of all the medium armors on a human female.

I’ve found that the Pirate, Duelist, Human cultural T1, all look decent on my charr, without the crazy low hanging bloused out tails of the other armors with long coats. For helm I’ve stuck with the one that looks like a strapped on monocle, leather workers can craft them easily. Haven’t found shoulders I like yet.
edit here’s a gallery of male charr in medium armor. Unlabeled but you can pretty easily compare to the labeled human female one and figure it out.

Gryz, if your glass cannon build doesn’t work for you, then you need to change your build. I think even an average player that doesn’t do much in MMOs is going to be able to figure that out.
Did CM explorable with some friends last night only to give up in frustration. We got through the first two bosses but got stopped by three normal dungeon mobs and a hallway full of traps before reaching the slaver at the river.
Right after Whalen there’s a hallway full of traps with two riflemen and a bomber at the end. We died endlessly just trying to blitz down one of the enemies. The hallway is almost totally filled with traps that will kill you in two hits. The riflemen do extra damage to moving players, and typically can down somebody in four shots. The bomber’s bombs will take you down in three or four hits, unless it gets you with the bomb barrage skill it has that covers a swath from one side of the hall to the other and will down you in one shot.
The problem is if you try to have your melee heavy hitter take any of them down they get destroyed by the traps. If you try to have people hang at range in the couple small clear areas the bomb barrage will take nearly your entire team out in one shot.
It’s incredibly frustrating to fight so hard through two bosses and get stuck on this one encounter, but we went through it so many times with no hint of success.
I don’t really want to say things need to be nerfed, cause I hate to look at thing with that mentality, but I feel like I can’t come up with any other solution that works. anybody else run into trouble here?
Imagine the following DE for seasons and holidays:
- During the Leonids there could be falling stars all over Tyria
^Oh my god yes this. I would love to see a meteor shower in the new game engine, with some special events and items to find added on as few actually make it down to the surface.
I’d love to see more stuff like you guys did in Guild wars 1, especially the ones with mini games, special quest chains, and special goodies you could only get during the holiday. I really enjoyed doing something a little more light hearted stuff and still get something fun from. I thought you all did a great job threading real world equivalents of holidays into the lore, I’d love to see what else you come up with for the other races. Not to mention I’d love to see the Charr meat festival actually get celebrated as a stand in for octoberfest or something :p
As I recall from friends in WoW 6 months of grinding for a legendary isn’t exactly extreme, especially compared to some other MMOs. It’s just a pretty skin, work on it with your buddies on the side and enjoy the game rather than burning yourself out grinding like a maniac for something that really should take a long time.
Karma grinding. Just great. Time to make ue of the Influence Banners I’m crafting in my guild
Those are for guild influence only. you want the Karma boost banners under the politics upgrades to boost your Karma rewards. I believe there are also personal Karma boosters you can buy from the trading post or get from black lion chests.
In my opinion it’s a hell of a lot easier than crafting in WoW ever was. The time I spend farming alone is drastically reduced. I do wish I got slightly more materials in regular play, especially fine materials in cloth, as I always seem to be lacking them, but honestly I’m spending much much much less time leveling my professions than I ever did in WoW, and my friends who’ve played other MMOs agree. Really the only one that seems to be too costly right now is cooking, just because you have to buy so many extra ingredients.
Better underwater, but only cause they become easy to use with the same damage they have on land.
Underwater grenades are crazily powerful. I can’t imagine how they’d make a targeting system work coherently, but I feel like they’re going to get nerfed underwater for just how much damage they do.
On land it’s totally dependent on your skill at throwing them while moving and doing other stuff. If you’re really good at that they can be devastating. If not they’re very underwhelming.
I think they’re gonna be very hard to balance since Anet seems to be letting the skill balance out the big damage output they have once you fully trait them.
Sorry to hear you’re not enjoying the engineer class. I really feel like it’s advanced leaps and bounds since the first beta weekend. To me it feels a lot tougher and like it has a lot more damage.
That said, I agree with you that the turrets seem especially week in dungeons and higher level areas. I’ll have to play with my build a bit and see if traiting for turret upgrade will help that, but I hate to lose other traits just to make them work.
The flamethrower needs some work still but I’ve really enjoyed it paired with the pistols. The miss thing really only bothers me on structures.
I dunno why the random boon stufff irritates people so much. for the most part you know what you’re getting from elixir B, which is what I rely on for boons, and the randomness of H never bother me (admittedly it’s mostly cause I’m hammering it and dodging to save my life rather than hoping for a specific boon :p) I do kind of understand the frustration from a team comp perspective though, there’s definitely times I’ve done the tosses on teammates hoping for swiftness to get us somewhere fast and gotten protection or fury or something.
Haven’t used the mortar yet, hope it’s not that bad.
I love the pistols, but I wish the rifle was better. Feels too close range for my taste. It would be kinda fun to have a hammer or something though, but I guess that’s what the tool kit is for. Sure would be nice if the crowbar smack still launched people though, that was funny.
Sad to hear that short fuse isn’t working, but it’s good to know. I can switch that out for something else till it gets fixed without feeling bad. To the person that mentioned a page with a list of bugs, could you share the address, and whether A net is updating it or if it’s unofficial? Would be nice to see a solid bug list for things that we could check against to see as improvements and fixes are implemented. Maybe if the A net team reads this, you could start one or share one with us?
It is really frustrating to use on structures, seems like half the time it works fine and the other half I can never get it to work.
The lack of auto attack doesn’t bother me as much, I always worry about hitting it and flaming a crap ton of neutrals that I don’t want to aggro by accident, so I like having to press to set it off. It would be nice if it stuck through changes for people that want it though.
The grenades with grenadier definitely feel very powerful. I think the only thing that really balances them is how clunky they are to use on land, and that can be negated. In water they’re crazy powerful.
That said, I feel effective using my pistols and the flamethrower and elixir gun as well, so I don’t feel like I’m forced to use them, except in water when I really just want to let loose and be a dps machine.
I think there’ definitely a feeling that they’re the most powerful of the kit weapons, particularly if you’re skilled enough to use them on the run and still hit your target. They’ll definitely be difficult to balance. I feel right now like they need a bit of tone down, especially in water, but it’s still early to make any hard judgments right now.
Also, once again I laughed at the image of the flailing arms…I’m thinking of wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man style arm waving.
