@ Kardia – For all the organized guilds that want to have their name clean the solution to this problem is simple – Do not take any portals if you haven’t hidden one of your mesmers there yourself.

I can guarantee you it’s what our dedicated wvw guilds in Borlis do.

Honestly, when it happened to us the first time at hills I was very sad and pissed off. Right now though, I have come to expect it from AR.

I’m just glad to see that some people on that side know how much these kinds of cheats can actually spoil the game. Ever played Sim City and use a code to get tons of cash? Just not so much fun anymore after that. All those when those things happen.

I loved playing against NEWL on reset. Those guys are hardcore. Can we arrange guild vs guild battles somewhere in wvw on Wednesday or Thursday? You guys are awesome and a lot of fun to play against.

I see as many AR as I see BP. Saying that Borlis has more numbers is just silly.

On the other hand though, if you do not have the numbers, it’s your fault. Making sure you get people interested in WvW is part of the game. It’s a prerequisite to do well. So in the case of Borlis, we used to be a medium pop server, and we didn’t do so well in WvW. What’s happening now is people are finishing their story-modes and pve things and getting interested in WvW because they have a helpful bunch when they get in to the map and they run with organized groups.

I wish anet would publish the total numbers of players that log on for each server every month. Then maybe these AR QQers will shut up finally.

Use the karma, if u do enough wvw you’ll get way more karma than u can spend anyways. I’m sitting at 1.2k karma at and nothing to do with it.

Tonight we told all DKz members that anyone using anything like that would just get booted from the guild. I hope all other good guilds do the same.

In my opinion though, SoS should have taken it but then just left. They had proven their point. But no, they decided they wanted to stay and defend.

I too hope anet fixes this ASAP.

Well, SoS wanted to show us that the exploit really existed, so they went and capped our fully upgraded hills in 2 minutes. A gold for those that can’t guess how.

At the time I was running repairs and recapping camps, so I was watching the map very closely.

No siege near gates or walls.

I don’t get it. Did you know you can place rams far away enough that you don’t get hit by the cata inside but close enough that it damages the gate?

Cata inside towers is actually working just fine. Stop whining and trying to neft anything that works against you because of your lack of ability and knowledge.

@ God – the mistake you made was saying that our borderlands was SoS playground and telling us not to upgrade anything. Apparently, you spoke too soon and Hadann’s post is a natural response to your earlier hubristic posts.

Borlis has low level chars in WvW as well as AR. Stop hiding behind that kinda thing to explain why you got wiped multiple times. But there is something I must command you for, you guys are very resilient. You just kept coming back for more.

In all honesty though, I had so much fun last night fighting you guys in our borderlands. I’m so glad you guys came to play with us. At one point I didn’t even think about you as enemies anymore, but just as friends, cause of the fun we had together.

Over and over these treads appear and the same thing is said. Please do some search before starting yet again a “Commander tag should not be bought!” post.

Commander tag can be turned off. Too many commanders in one map? Make a server wide alliance and get them into it. Teach them about commanding and tell them to turn it off if they’re not commanding. Befriend them, make them respect you. You shall have no problems then.

We basically don’t want to be “the best” and would like a server that we can work towards making it to the top. Essentially we just want an active WvWvW community and some good battles. We are on Henge of Denravi and it has gotten dead apparently in the battlefield. We were thinking of Crystal Desert or Tarnished Coast. Anyone have any suggestions?

Check out Borlis Pass. Strong WvW community, moving up the ranks and almost no queue time to any of the maps. You might be surprised, but anyone who moves to lower tiers finds out the best WvW experience is there.

nice fighting you guys for your keep through the night, eventually your numbers broke through, but suprisingly 5 of us was able to push you guys out the first time. At one point we managed to get 10 defending, but we lost them through the night.

As promised before this week began, SoS will continue to hit and do operations in BP. You might not want to spend the money to fortify anything, I will make sure it goes down again like the last 3 times i’ve lead an operation there.

I was doing the puzzle at GoM borderlands last night with my lvl16 mesmer, so I’m at the first key and this AR guy comes (BLTZ guild or something like that). All the while I’m thinking, should I pull him down or wait and see what he does. So he comes, takes the key. I wave at him. He puts a portal, gets his buddies up, and one of his buddies comes and knockes me down. Then they kept chasing and trying to kill me. So yeah, all servers have baddies.

When those guys were gone, a guy from GoM, from your guild, comes and goes past me and waves. I wave back and we do the whole JP together. So yeah, I’m sorry but you’re gonna get that kinda of behavior from every server. Although 10 v 1 I think it’s just silly to attack. 1 person poses no threat to 10.

On the other hand though, tonight we got a WOTA member, from GoM, using the invulnerability exploit. He would get in there, wait til we were gone, start hitting camp and yaks. Then people would get there he would go to the same spot. Over and over again. Lame huh?

@ testping – were you around for beta? cause not a lot has changed since then. When you leave a map without a leader people lose focus, fight at the spawn, lose fully upgraded keeps and towers, and all that jazz. Commander tag is just a tool, the truth is, if you don’t have a leader, or leaders, chaos ensues.

Want people to start being useful, good, wvw players? Educated them.

Often times I will stop my group and say:

Ok, so here is the deal…
Let me tell you about ram placement…
Let me show you where people usually hide in this keep…
Ok, now we’re doing to rush, so…
Etc

I mean no disrespect. I have been in the same map as you guys so I know your style. But your comment on this forum is the very cliché and typical “zerg is bag, I am good”.

Also, you are criticizing our commanders with that post of yours. Instead, I’d like to make a suggestion. You moved to our server. So, try to get to know us. Join our TS, ask us if we need help with anything. Take responsibility for a difficult task. Hold and upgrade a tower. Put you guild buffs in it.

Just some ideas for you if you plan on staying in the server, cause there’s no point in staying if you don’t have a good relationship with the community.

Well, I just gotta laugh at these people praising small groups so much. If you play to win, you use the strategy that’s most efficient for that given situation, be it running a large group or many small ones.

IMO, a lot of you guys are really sounding like you care more about doing your own thing than helping the server win. You want 1 on 1 and small teams vs small team? Have you ever heard about sPvP? You just might be in the wrong kinda of pvp.

Don’t get me wrong. I have enjoyed soloing camps, taking hills with just 4 people, etc, etc. But what I see is a lot of anti-social behavior. People that, even when their help is needed together with the main group, don’t answer to the call for help.

Do you want to do your own thing? Earn it. Plok comes in and does his job as a commander. He will sit his kitten and defend. Bring a big group together if necessary. Sometimes he’s just running around in a small group of 4-6 people. But if you whisper him and ask for help, he will be there.

Now how about you all stop patting yourselves on the back and develop a server mentality?

@ Kardia – I know that I personally introduced over 50 members to WvW in the last month. Our alliance is working well together and our guilds are recruiting and training PVE players. Anyone in Borlis knows that reason we’re doing better is because of our own efforts and not some Deus Ex Machina server transfer.

Check the forums. Borlis never advertises asking for transfers to our servers. We are proud of our community and want to build it ourselves.

I myself was a clueless newbie running raids without a commander tag 2 months ago when the leaders of GOAT and SBZY whispered me saying I was doing a good job and took me to their TS servers to teach me how to be a commander. It is because of their vision of what was needed for the server to do better, which is, the need to have an alliance that works well together, that has well trained commanders and knowledgeable people following them, that we’re doing better. Not awesome, just better.

But yeah, of course the other servers will discredit us and say we’re just zerging. That’s how it always goes. We know our story though and no one will make us forget it.

Primary Tactics Used: Flanking when defending. Cautious but fast when attacking.
Works alone or with other Commanders: I like to think most commanders in the server have a pretty good relationship with me. We don’t always agree, but we seem to get along pretty well.
Style of Commanding: I like to keep it as organized at possible. Also, I teach about the game whenever I have time and try to communicate ahead of time what the plan is and yell at them for not dying by my side and running away. NEVER RUN AWAY IF IT’S JUST TO SAVE REPAIR COSTS!
Way you communicate best: Team chat and Say chat for the majority of players. TS for my guild and closer friends. I think I might get a cookie for typing so much in team/say chat, I think that’s why people who don’t come on TS like running around with me, they feel I’m right there with them cause I’m always saying something in chat.

@ God – Nah, you know, accusing Borlis of having a zerg is really funny. AR is still more populated than Borlis, you just gotta get your players outta pve. On the weekend we had very similar numbers, and they’re not THAT different right now, but as your fair-weather players see that you’re losing, they give up playing WvW until it resets, or they start lvling their chars in WvW, which makes you weaker.

AR and GoM are leaving us alone? Really? Maybe you wanna tell me the story of Hanzel and Gretel next, cause that’s a fairytale.

When I got to our borderlands we had like 10-15 people spread around the map and both GoM and AR were taking the southern towers with big groups, GoM even had hills. You guys had golems and all that kitten (even SoS and CRFT paid us a visit). I called my friends to the map and we made a big group and took care of it. If we had not done that, soon enough AR and GoM would have the whole map. Mind you that we split up into smaller groups many times, specially after we had taken our things back.

Anyone knows that it’s very hard to keep players in a map that’s fully conquered cause they wanna go to another map and cap more things. So yeah, kudos to us for keeping a big group in our borderlands to help defend it. Or will you tell me that players love staying in a fully conquered map?

I have stated this many times, when you see our numbers, it’s not because of transfers. It’s something else we’re doing, which is very simply 1) bringing them from PVE 2) super dedicated players that are on for way longer than they should. I played for about 40 hours this past weekend.

Don’t forget that Borlis moved up from the bottom tier, so we are the underdogs here. We didn’t get any major transfers and we had as many players leave our server as we had them join us.

@ Kardia – and your borderlands was being taken at the same time. Didn’t you worry about that? I don’t know about you, but once I have garrison, bay and hills with waypoint, I’m sure as hell going to defend it. Plus, all the while we were upgrading things, setting siege, and chatting in team chat. I’m sorry if AR people can’t get their pugs to actually defend. It does seem like you guys think the game is just about capping. Too bad.

Honestly though, the match is super balanced this week. So it’s been very fun as well as very stressful, specially for commanders in Eternal.

@God – I kinda like your way of thinking and honestly, I just prefer to fight GoM cause I don’t like the color green. Though I look at the map and I judge what must be done in each situation and I tell you, whenever AR attacks me, I’ll go back and attack them.

I dunno about your borderlands cause I haven’t been there all weekend long. But I’m sure I saw your guys in ours.

BTW, I love fighting SoS and CRFT. If you guys ever invite me to come to your TS for a chat, I’d love to mean you in voice. Maybe we can make GoM even more suspicious that we have an alliance. LOL

Though I have to tell you one thing – we love trashing you guys while we play, and that likely won’t change.

Every time I`m on I make an effort to leave AR alone and focus on GoM, but you silly people keep coming after us even though they`re 20k ahead.

Know that it`s kitten for tat. You come into our borderlands to take stuff, you can expect retaliation.

I get plenty of badges every time I WvW. Honestly, if you give more badges as rewards Guild Wars will become Siege Wars. “Ok, 20 people with balista in this camp, let’s get 4 catapults also behind each gate of every keep and tower now.”

Siege is already too cheap imo. No need to make it worse.

You may have your ideas about what we did wrong in Borlis Pass, but it’s just a very one-sided view when you’re not playing alongside us.

And thank you for the praise. I really do try hard. I edit my posts to try and keep them clean and avoid flaming. That’s how you build a good community imo.

BTW, I have really enjoyed the GoM players that have sent me whispers and chatted with me. Great sportsmanship on your side.

You seem to be talking about me in this case.

So, let me talk to you a little bit about what happened after reset so you at least know what you are talking about.

Now, I’m not taking offence here. I think it’s beneficial for us to learn from our mistakes. But first you gotta know what they are.

When hours after reset your maps keeps, little by little, being taken and you have less and less stuff, that’s not good. Do you agree? That’s what was happening in BP BL.

At reset, I went to GoM BL. There, we were doing well. Held bay, hills, and the rest of the southern part of the map. At one point a decision was made to leave that map and I went to see what was happening in Borlis.

When I got to Borlis, there were 2 commanders and people were very frustrated and yelling at each other. So after a while I decided to take a break cause when there is too many leaders trying to pull in too many directions it’s worse than 1 just doing a poor job. We were holding less than 50% of the map at that point. So, after a while, I came back and the map was almost all green and there was no commander. There were about 10 people in the map at that point. I personally brought 20-25 people to that map and started working on things, but people such as yourself were complaining about things and not understanding the situation. Hills was heavily defended with siege and not easy to take. GoM was defending to attacks very well. So I decided to go slow and work on the map. Long story short, when I finally got tired of people complaining, we had most of the map, GoM only held hills, lake and water.

When I came back a couple of hours later the map was completely green and there were 5 people in the map. I called everyone I could from my friends and people from PACT, all in all, 30 people showed up to the map and we took it all back. Then I moved on to Eternal (suggestion made by EDGE) and took our 3rd plus most of Anvil’s side.

I played from reset almost nonstop for 20 hours. Every time I’m on a map leading we advance, be it slow or fast.

So when you call me “bright commander” you are correct, you just gotta leave irony out.

How commited were you to WvW this week? What mistakes did you make yourself?

I lead because people ask me to. I don’t do it for glory. I don’t call out the name of my guild when I’m capping stuff. I actually get messaged every 10 minutes by people asking me “What map are you on? Are you leading? Please come to Borlis, we need you here.”

I led for weeks without a commander tag. I started doing WvW in the first beta, so I’ve been around for a while, always in Borlis Pass. Ask any major WvW guilds and players who I am and they’ll tell you if you should follow my lead or not. So my suggestion to you, next time I’m in your map, message me, ask me to put you in my party. Come to my team speak. I’ll be glad to explain to you what I’m doing and why I’m making those decisions. I hope we do get to know each other better and you become a dedicated WvW player.

While I do not agree with OP completely, I do think you should be able to upgrade the camp to give the guild supervisor a 3 min buff once it’s attacked. That way you’d at least have time to run there to defend instead of having to sit at a camp and wait.

Borlis has definitely not seen any major guilds transfer to our server. We do have more and more players on WvW each weak, but that’s because we’re bringing them there from PVE.

As all you forum readers can see, we don’t ask for transfers to our servers like Kaineng has been doing, not that I blame them. They do need more people.

Borlis has been getting better week after week due to its leadership and communication, as well as the willingness of the majority on our server to work together. We’ve been making an effort to get the most people we can on TS. Not just major guilds, but anyone interested in joining us. Once they do WvW with a good leader and a fun group on TS, they’re hooked.

As for the spawn camping issue, I don’t do it cause I find it boring. But honestly, complaining and mentioning it is just silly imo. It has never been and never will be a problem for smart players, and since I know there are a lot of great players in AR, cause I’ve learned quite a few things from some of them, this shouldn’t be an issue at all. AR has more numbers than Borlis, if it got to a point where you got spawn camped, shame on you.

All in all, this was a good start. But we have to remember it is Halloween, so we don’t know what influence that has had on the score.

Also, one last thing. Where did all those GoM players come from today? Methinks it’s time to complain about server transfers to another server, lol. jk, bring it on.

Why you shouldn’t zerg:

1. There’s only so much you can do with karma. Eventually you don’t bother to farm for karma anymore.

2. You will certainly die more often than with an organized group. Zergs tend to go from one target to the next without thinking about strategy. The moment they face an organized opposition they scatter and all die a horrible death.

3. You can actually put your badges of honor to good use, buying more siege weapons with them! You also get more badges if you’re not in a zerg.

4. You help your server win by playing in an organized fashion and as a member of a WvW focused guild.

I know the OP was being ironic, but I honestly think zerging is just something inexperienced players enjoy doing and can somewhat profit from. If you have any experience in WvW you’ll mostly avoid them.

That’s not to say you won’t get a huge group focused on one objective eventually. But if they all know what to do and have leaders that can break them into smaller groups if needed eventually then I wouldn’t call that a zerg.
