Ok thanks for taking the time to provide your point of view.

In regards to point 1 – yes I do remember what they said… and yes I do remember the manifesto very clearly.

The thing is, everything must evolve with time.

Whoa whoa whoa…stop right there. We are 3 months into the game, and you’re saying “things must evolve with time”?? Ridiculous. I would bet my bottom dollar that this whole fiasco was planned even before release, which means they pulled a bait and switch on us. This game was advertised for 5 years…5 YEARS…as not having any sort of vertical progression. And now its just as simple as “its evolving”? No. That pig doesn’t fly.

All of you people freaking out are just making >huge< assumptions based off of nothing. You’re all reaching as hard as you can just for a reason to freak out. Calm the heck down already. This isn’t a conspiracy theory.

There is no conspiracy, just simple math and common sense. The “iterative” process for this size implementation takes much longer than 3 months, I can guarantee that. From initial proposal to implementation you have all manner of processes that need to be completed…lore, modeling, programming, stat mechanics, concept art, testing, etc. This has been in the works since well before launch, and now they can deal with the backlash.

everything is going down now as opposed to a year (or three) into the game. If they are going to swing away from the manifesto, I prefer it happen now before I spend ridiculous amounts in the cash shop on armor skins and other fun things.

This isn't about gear but human nature

I see it as more of a bizarro world scenario…those that work hard in real life want a game that is equal for everyone, whereas those that sit on their kitten at home grinding want leet loot. Follow?

I didn’t get to play as I work weekends. Ascended gear aside (since I hate it and everything it represents), I think the one time event is a good idea as long as it isn’t a one time event. By this, I mean that it should be spread out through out the week with several identical quests and/or instances so that it seems more like an extended battle as opposed to a skirmish, and allowing for others who have non-traditional work schedules to play the events as well. Of course, this won’t pertain to me anymore since I’ve lost the desire to play after TLS went live. Too many changes and broken promises for this 7+ year GW1 vet.

Oh my…this is hilarious! I have begun to see a defense forming that cites the fact that ascended gear lacks the bonuses from multiple runes. What this defense fails to account for is the fact that we have yet to see anything higher than “fine” quality infusions. I shudder to see what rare, exotic or even legendary infusions will look like…

One three-letter-acronym: NGE.

Smed is teh suke! This isn’t nearly as drastic as that was, but it still sucks. ANET needs to learn from SOE’s mistakes…

Lord of the Rings Online tried this with their “legendary” weapon system and their “radiance” gear. Both were a miserable failure, though Turbine only admitted radiance gear was a failure. Agony sounds a lot like the radiance mechanic from LotRO, and these new ascended items that have upgrade slots…exactly the same as the less than fun legendary system in LotRO. Why is this turning into a gated gear grind?

More wonderful outfits that aren’t armor skins…

Beautiful work relegated to town clothes...

I think it is fine the way it is.

There is a problem here very simple , town clothes got no armor kind. That means people could dress like a witch and be a guardian or war, or you suggest from now on town clothes can only be used by certain classes? That to me would be much worse.

Also , im not fond of the idea of tons of witches and mad kings running around all the time.

That being my opinion on this matter , i got both and the extra helmet already , those are very pretty and fun to use.

Simple: Disabled for PvP. PvE doesn’t matter in the least what you look like, and it doesn’t really matter what you don’t want people to do in game. I’m not fond of others trying to cramp my fun.

Course it’ll be fought kicking and screaming until it’s finally changed 3 years from now, much like every other developer insists on doing instead of adding appearance tabs.

I know, right? Why is this? It almost always happens, but at a much later date. Why not just implement it from the start and save a lot of hard feelings? C’mon, ANET…you know you want to.

Why, ANET? Why would you do this? The Costumes are amazing, and to make them strictly town clothes is ridiculous. As a 7 year vet from GW, the creation of the costumes there was a fun and profitable way for players to tr7y something new on a regular basis. Why, then, would you change your philosophy for GW2, and make town specific clothing when you had already made armor skins for the game (two of which are less than appealing and one of those two being completely ridiculous)? Here is to hoping that you change the Halloween outfits and all following holiday outfits into armor skins as not doing so is…well, silly.
