drops the PC/SJW stuff
I dread to ask, but… what are you counting as “PC/SJW stuff”?
Including women? Having a gay romance?
Women? No. The other stuff distracts the writers from what they should really be focusing on.

The name seems kind of familiar…

Although…if the writing team continues with its references to the first game, drops the PC/SJW stuff, and gets back to what made the lore great, I just might have to come back full time.

Guessing Sohothin opened a portal to the Underworld, where Rytlock discovered the gods are very much real after an encounter with Grenth, and has subsequently turned to the worship of said god.
It’s also worth pointing out that some people use claims of quitting the game as an attention-getting tactic, when in fact they are still quite active. Putting in this type of restriction would just push those people to claim they only log in to keep their forum privileges active.
You can check all 3 of my accounts if you like. I haven’t played for months, but I would love to return once ANET pulls its head out of it’s underworld. And if my continued posting here helps them accomplish that milestone, so be it.
I’d like to know why ANET took GW2 in such a different direction from GW, concerning the abandonment of the lore, severing the connection with the gods and leading to the disappearance of the god’s realms, not expanding the world (instead choosing to rehash existing zones), relying on temporary content when permanent content would sate most players wants and desires. My wants? I want to feel like this game is connected to the game that drew me in back in 2005. I want to see the updated versions of the Underworld and Fissure of Woe, as well as the other god’s realms that were never fully realized. I want WvW (the mists) to not look like a carbon copy of Anywhere, Kryta. There is no majesty or intrigue. Yea, it looks amazing, but it just feels bland after 2 years of the same old. LS is not the solution, especially since it seems to be nothing more than a pulpit lately. By the way, is it OK to still be sore about the election? Evon’s path would have been much more interesting, IMHO. It would have given the game the connection to the past that I spoke of earlier. And while we’re on the topic of fractals, why on earth would you make multiple dungeons all have the same entrance? I understand that many of the fractals take place at a different point in time, but not all of them. The world needs to be expanded, and filled with…meh, I’m wasting my time. To be honest, I haven’t played in months due to disappointment with the LS and the PC stuff going on there, and I see the rehashing of current zones to be nothing more than an artificial way to make the world seem like it’s still full of players. It wouldn’t need to be artificial if you added more permanent content to keep the vets interested. Check out this map:
http://h11.abload.de/img/tyria_mollweidedfjo9.png
Does it make sense to have the entire world of Tyria waiting to be filled up with ever more adventures and lands, yet keep us cooped up in a tiny fraction of it? No. And what of its inhabitants? What happened to the Largos? Underwater content? Or underwater combat for that matter? Said map above? Huge. And if you add in the areas covered in ocean and seas? My God, the possibilities. Yet it seems ANET is determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory regarding the longevity of its masterpiece.
I seriously hope it turns around, and the world begins to grow and take on the color of its former self. If not? /shrug I guess I’ll just be done and go my separate way, or back to GW.
NPE = NGE

If game studios don’t learn from history, they are doomed to repeat it. I still boycott SONY products to this day due to how SOE handled themselves/mishandled the game.
This GW1 vet isn’t depressed. I merely stopped playing this joke of a game. I check the forums from time to time to see if ANET pulls its head from its nether regions and gets back to what made the first game great. Doesn’t look like they will though. ArcheAge looks promising…
The living story IS a tragedy. It’s full of PC garbage, horrible writing, and wasted potential. In addition to being a tragedy, it’s also a travesty…perpetrated against everyone that loved the first GW game, and the lore and wonder it contained.
I don’t like the RNG and ridiculous TP prices. I also don’t like the fact that you can’t dye them…
The axe looks great in GW1. Somehow they manage to make it look like poop in gw2. Reminds me of the torment weapons.
lol…poop.
(edited by DONO.8760)
Most likely unable to be dyed as well…
Seriously guys…hiding one of the most iconic skins (or at least a close representation thereof) from GW behind the RNG wall is deplorable. I won’t get into how this game has destroyed the Guild Wars name, but this is both awesome and fail at the same time…mostly fail. Failsome.
In Abaddon’s case the vines were just large hairs not thorny vines….
Only if they kittened off the gods and are subsequently punished.
The Red Star is the world of Aion.
The White Star is the world of Lineage.
That is my guess.
Worlds don’t shine, though. Their suns do.
They certainly do reflect the light of their star. Maybe the Aion and Lineage worlds are in the same star system.
Compensation? How about not being subjected to 15 months of the Scarlet Briar Living Story arc? Consider yourself blessed.
Probably because the artists cannot create it with the current engine.. Sad because it looks stunning.
What?? How exactly did you come to this conclusion, and where is your evidence to support it? I submit that they could easily make the full Grenth set just like they made the full Primeval set or Braham set (or ANY of the other armor sets for that matter)…with a little time and effort.

Yea…I’ve not played since mid September due to the onslaught of rushed temp content. She started out great, but has taken a turn for the worse. The game I love is becoming nothing more than a fond memory…
I just wish my character could look this awesome even in combat. <3
Clearly you’re asking waaaaaay too much… :P
So far, all the costumes have been amazing. Unfortunately, the fact that they are all merely town clothes is a testament to stupidity. Bring back the GW PvE costumes and get rid of the costume brawl garbage…or make it like the new weapon skins: they can be either PvP or PvE so make the outfits either armor skins (PvE) or town clothes (PvP) for the costume brawl (yuck). Simple. One has to wonder who has so much clout at ANET that the costume brawl still exists in its current form what with all the people begging to throw money at ANET for actual armor skins, yet they continue to waste amazing artwork on town clothes…ugh.
(edited by DONO.8760)
Please stop making town clothes. Please. Just make armor skins. You’ll make so much more money and even more people happier. Wasting amazing designs on the town clothes garbage is so mindbogglingly foolish my mind is boggled. Skins, not town clothes. Please. Please…
Could it be Quaggan Soup?
How about, “Quit Sarcasm…”
Disgusting waste of resources that could go toward building up the defenses against the Elder Dragons. Shameful…
:O New wallpaper! Thx!
If anything, recent news updates suggest good changes for legendaries – including the ability to freely change stats on them outside of combat. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some cosmetic changes in store as well.
Here’s to hoping they make Eternity into something similar to the sword of power from the He-man series: split along the edge with Sunrise on one side, and Twilight on the other, then having the blade phase from one to the other in rapid succession to symbolize the passage of time. and maybe have it levitate off your back, and twist 180 degrees depending on the time of day.
Power sword art for effect:
Lookin’ forward to farming the inevitable new currency (not).
Yea…they need to just make everything purchasable with black lion tickets, thereby letting us buy past event weapon skins as well.
When they add them to fractals…
Figures that parachutes have already been done…ah well. Maybe when they introduce Tengu as playable. :P
How fun would parachutes be? Jumping/floating puzzles, no more certain death from falls, base jumping/airship jumping, airborne assaults, general awesomeness, etc. Could be a back item that we trigger or that triggers automatically at a certain fall distance and can then steer as it descends. Possibly a consumable? Perhaps designed similar to:
That frame of mind didn’t work so well for Sony Online Entertainment and Star Wars Galaxies…
Only if he is next in line to be assassinated…
I wonder what kinds of things would happen if you mixed the Mists with chaos energy…
Too bad we’ll never find out…#TeamEvon
How about making the Mists look like something other than Kryta?
“Fixed a bug where players could get the “Kookittenoo the Incredulous” achievement without seeing the show.”
XD
Yea, PP, that’s pretty much it. Strange that it would show up this late in SPOT, since it is set to end within a few short hours….and only on one account. O.o
Instead of your native language anyway… Really strange occurrence tonight when I logged in after work. Only on one of my three accounts too…which is really, really weird.
He was asking if the axe got the axe. ^^
Yes…this is what I meant. I thought that shizzel was obvious…
It was advertised on the official page, but has mysteriously disappeared since…
Those are Redcoats!!! Shoot on sight!
I’m somewhat certain that I’m the only person interested in the two short pipe organ tracks that play when you solve the music puzzles, but that doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t like to see them uploaded to your soundcloud page, specifically the quaggan underwater pipe organ. Every time I hear the overture on that organ it touches something inside…truly amazing.
No, it’s just you. Hah, I lied.
Saw a thread in the general forum complaining about Eternity’s lack of worth, so I gave some possible upgrade options. They were:
They should have split the hilts of Sunrise and Twilight down the middle ala He-Man’s/Skeletor’s sword and had the two halves stuck together back to back, then had the blade cycle between day and night to show passage of time…aka Eternity.
The sword of He-Man and Skeletor:
http://bwmedia.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/motu-1-skeletors-story.jpg?w=560
They could also have one foot leave the Sunrise trail and the other leave the Twilight trail.

Go buy the game. It’s still live.
Since this is once again relevant, I figured I would rez it. Why waste time and talent on things no one really uses? Please just make them costumes to be worn in place of our armor in the same vein as GW. I don’t think that is asking too much…
You must realize that you are missing out on a ton of gem purchases since your holiday fashions are relegated to being town clothes. Please return to a “costume” option for town clothes (or at least make them armor skins), and completely remove the less than stellar town brawls. Horridly horrid plan of action atm. Seriously.
And it doesn’t look like I will since everyone is doing explorable only at this stage in the game. Perhaps a rework is necessary to make the story mode a solo mission or at least add in a few npcs to lend a hand. Been trying to do AC for a while now and no one is interested in the lowly story mode. FotM only compounds the issue, and new players will see no benefit in doing the old dungeons…nor the possibility since no one else is doing them. Sigh.
Ok thanks for taking the time to provide your point of view.
In regards to point 1 – yes I do remember what they said… and yes I do remember the manifesto very clearly.
The thing is, everything must evolve with time.
Whoa whoa whoa…stop right there. We are 3 months into the game, and you’re saying “things must evolve with time”?? Ridiculous. I would bet my bottom dollar that this whole fiasco was planned even before release, which means they pulled a bait and switch on us. This game was advertised for 5 years…5 YEARS…as not having any sort of vertical progression. And now its just as simple as “its evolving”? No. That pig doesn’t fly.
All of you people freaking out are just making >huge< assumptions based off of nothing. You’re all reaching as hard as you can just for a reason to freak out. Calm the heck down already. This isn’t a conspiracy theory.
There is no conspiracy, just simple math and common sense. The “iterative” process for this size implementation takes much longer than 3 months, I can guarantee that. From initial proposal to implementation you have all manner of processes that need to be completed…lore, modeling, programming, stat mechanics, concept art, testing, etc. This has been in the works since well before launch, and now they can deal with the backlash.
They added a few Ascended items and said they’ll add more in the future. You and everyone else seem to be blowing this far out of proportion, assuming there will be a treadmill, that the game is entirely changing, etc.
They wouldn’t waste the time and resources developing a vertical progression system if they meant to abandon it after its initial implementation…especially this early in game. This is meant to be the easy let down, and done very early so people know what to expect henceforth.
