Why shamans amulet? I have barely any conditions other than burning and occasional bleeding that deals condition damage. That seems like a waste doesn’t it?

Also, I’m looking into replacing 2 monk runes with divinity to test it out

Hey guys, I play Ele for team DXI and Qz, and recently I’ve been intrigued by the Scepter Dagger bunker build. I’ve been getting pretty good at it, but I’m curious as to some of the S/D bunker eles on pro teams (specifically EU, as its pretty popular there) and how you play/how u position yourself and tips to defeating back point mesmers.

I’ve been practicing against one of my guildies and I can get the point neuted if i’m smart and use my knockdowns/knockbacks properly, but I’m curious as to what you guys do, and on top of that if there are any good S/D Streamers so I can pick up on some tips.

For reference, my build:

0/0/10/30/30
Earth: 3
Water: 3, 5, 11/9
Arcana: 5, 7/4, 11

Energy + Bloodlust sigils

4 Runes of the Monk
2 Runes of Water
Clerics Ammie + Soldiers Jewel

Hey Powerr, how’s it going.

Real quick, got a couple questions:

1) Did playing Necro help you with playin your ele at all, and if so how?
2) After playing S/D bunker, I find it quite difficult to stay alive as easily, especially without Sigil of Energy. How do you find staying alive in fights, and specifically out lasting burst?
3) How do you like Arcane spells without Elemental surge?
4) Do you ever use Armor of Earth? I know you use Lightning Flash along with mist form and arcane wave regularly, and cleansing wave occasionally, but curious to how you feel about Armor.
5) Signet or Glyph for heal?

In particular, WHAT DOES ANET WANT.

More specifically, what is their “Intent” for the meta? Power/Burst ganking? Or lots of tanking? What do they envision tournaments to look like, and are we close to what they want. Vain/Zoose/Purie/Countless all would agree, and if anyone didnt watch their video go on youtube. It is about 2 weeks old so the patch didnt occur to mesmers but it is interesting to listen to.

Come on guys dont be sticklers. There is a reason this is happening. We all called for it. Make the most of it or quit your kittening.

Hey Khalifa, its Draylic the guy you’ve been messaging.

So a couple things:

First off, the build is a tonne of fun. I enjoy it a lot…when I live.

I’ve been having serious issues with the team fights. I dont know if I’m just doing it wrong (probably) or if its just hard as kitten to continue to live through the zerg fest a mid team fight brings, but as a cloth caster with 1 heal (and, granted, DS) its hard at times to survive.

Next, as a melee class, what do we have to get away? I mean if we’re using Epidemic (which i’ll get to in a second) and the other 2 for DPS/Team fights, we have little to know escapibility.

How do u run away from a fight thats headed south? switch to staff, AoE fear…then what? 1 second and they’re on you again?

2nd, epidemic has been quite helpful for mid. You’re right it HAS been awesome.

it just seems very hectic to be constantly worrying about getting ganked, popping into DS, switching out, meleeing, dropping AoE’s, Syphoning, watching enemies for high condition count to Epidemic, watching teammates to res them, all while trying to stay alive as a melee caster :/

Ok this is it. I’ve had enough.

I just spent the last 3 hours in frees, trying to practice to get better. Hotjoins are random zergs and I only die when 5 people show up and attack me while my teammates run around with their heads cut off like a kittening chicken. thats fine, its hot joins. U get better there.

What I dont like is trying to get better only to go into a free and get kittening demolished first round. This is bullkitten.

Anet, if u pay any attention to Anvil Rock’s map chat, I am the first one to come to your aid. The fix is coming. We need patience. Etc etc. But kitten it we need some info. You haven’t given us anything to go off of and frankly the community has had enough.

Look around you. The PvP is dwindling. The so called “esport” can’t get 200 viewers on twitch. A card game less accessible, more expensive, and harder to play gets regularily 2000 viewers.

I know the game is new. its only january, it came out in october. I get that. I’m not expecting a LoL. Not even WoW. Just give me some god kitten matchmaking so I can get better and not want to kill myself every time I join a free and get kittening smoked by 40+’s who are just waiting for the paids to pop.

And thats the other thing. If the only thing you’re doing to fix paids is adding a seperate team vs. team that still costs money (and 3 tickets at that. really? why not 2?) and not
A) Decreasing the entry fee
B) Finding a way to increase popularity

then u might as well not give us the update in February.

Just give us something. You’ll have a lot more happy customers if we walk into the store and realise WHAT YOUR DOING TO FIX THE STORE.

There are gas prices posted for a reason. Transparency is necessary for customers to continue to want your product.

I hope i didnt sound like a QQ’ing troll because I really want J Sharp to read this. I just want some answers and that blog didnt give a very good one. Not one that wants me to continue to play this game anyway

The only mesmers i hear screaming are the ones who got an exploit.

See here’s the thing mesmers…there was no nerf. There was a bug fix, and a take back on a buff meant for PvE. Thats it.

And Thieves, enjoy Heartseeker spamming now. Next patch? Thats the first thing to go. Guarantee it. Why? Not to nerf, but to ADD SKILL.

Even I, who has never played a thief, can go on a map, stealth in, and heartseeker the kitten out of people and not miss…ever. Those types of abilities on other characters require aiming of sorts!

Stop QQ’ing. I know I do every once and a while and I KNOW i need to L2P. The problem is that that acronym is so synonymous with “Ha. Newb” or “Your just bad”. Thats not always the case.

So I’ve been playing free tournaments with Guild/pug learning my class. Normally I’m pretty good, I’m only rank 15 but growing quickly. I’m in a guild (Spicy Asuran) and we don’t play as much so my other tournaments are pugging. Normally do quite well, every once and a while get steamrolled but not too bad.

Then I decided to try paids. Guys, I wasn’t a disbelieve until I just got face rolled.

First off, playing sPVP cause so many bad habits. You don’t roam, bunker or support properly in SPVP. All They know is They want the most glory possible and they don’t care about team play.

Second off, the skill cap between frees and paids is enormous. I realize that these guys practice all the time, but that leases to the next thing

When I was playing Magic, streams/tourneys were on all the time. Through watching, reading and practicing I got better and it didn’t take too long either.

Same thing with SWTOR. Initially, I was one of the Better Sorcs on my server. I knew my class, I knew the roles, I knew how to play. I researched builds, watched Sorcs streams, and got quite good. But then SWTOR crashed and burned. So there goes that.

Now, not only are there no tourneys to watch, but no streams, or very few.

Something needs to happen in order to help level the skill cap and actually help players get better. Some of us don’t have the time or the friends to play and practice since 4 months ago, and now were screwed.

I’m not trying to be a rager, I would just like to know if something other than matchmaking is being done to help new players get better because I want to at least try to succeed at this game

The only thing that isnt 10 s is the Churning Earth casting time. And I’ve timed it. 10 seconds if u remove the Drake’s Breath, as its only required if they aren’t burnt.

Oh wait…you can’t?? Huh…oh thats right thats what ATTUNEMENTS are for.

If you have quick fingers, and as an Ele you have to, you should be out DPS’ing non-stance dancers as a stance dancer. You inflict more conditions, gain more buffs, and have access to stronger abilities

Take a stance dance build for instance. You use the Sigil of Superior Battle. 30 in arcana for the reduced cooldown, increase boon duration. You have at least 25 in water for the 2% more damage/boon trait.

Now if your stance dancing, your gaining the boon from Elemental Attunement. Your getting the Might. Your getting the fury. If you apply an aura, 2 more. do a couple abilities, switch.

When someone says “go burst” with an Ele, they dont mean cast all fire attacks and sit there and auto attack.

In a matter of 10 seconds with D/D, you should be going Air: Shocking Aura -> Ride the Lightning -> Updraft (only if ur sure it’ll hit) -> Fire -> Burning Speed -> Ring of Fire -> Drake’s Breath -> Fire Grasp -> Earth -> Magnetic Grasp -> Earthquake -> Churning Earth. Try to match that with staying in fire…

If your talking PvE and NOT in staff, you should be. AoE after AoE after AoE increases the damage in that area, and on top of that, adding combo fields/whatever to your team.

If your not helping the group, your not in a group. Its as simple as that.

Edit: and for someone who doesnt even LIKE fire, you sure are bashing those who bash it ^.^

I see no problem taking it seriously at trying to get better.

If Anet follows through (which, in case you didnt know, they have on most things they said they would. And we all know they’re working on a PVP patch so just wait) this game can really BE Something. I’m not talking LoL popularity (yet) but I honestly think this game can match WoW’s popularity with a bit of time, effort and fixes to pvp.

Anyway, I think part of the problem is I was using full Berserker’s Amulet, whereas Valkyrie may be better. on top of that, I need to play more with the Glass Cannon specish

b) Exploit
c) Godlike asian-rubiks cube master fingers

So I recently transfered to Anvil’s Rock and joined up in a PVP Guild. I’ve been doing a lot of roaming as my elementalist and I’m curious as to what kind of builds you guys are using.

Obviously D/D, but I’m curious for damage/survivable builds. On one extreme, we played a match where a guardian and I weren’t taking out a bunker because I wasn’t doing enough burst to get him down. On the other, I couldn’t take out a Warrior on a treb after I respecced “glass” (very poor Glass cannon, very quick band-aid that worked for Legacy) cannon cuz I just kept dying too fast.

Any suggestions guys?

Right now I do Water/Monk/Divinity but Ill have to look into Altruism…

Edit: actually, I think we have enough might…at least I do.

Hey guys.
So I used to play a Legion build back in October, but with school and such I had to take a break as midterms/finals kept getting in the way. Then I came back and immediately realized a damage reduction, and my cool downs were WAY longer. So I researched and found out they got nerfed…

So I’m trying a 20/20/0/0/30 Shatter spec, but I am not sure which runes/Sigils to use to keep my damage but have decent survivability

If it matters, I’m using Ether Feast/Blink/Mirror Images/Decoy/Moa Morph as my utilities, and Staff/Sword Pistol

Also, I’ve seen cases for both but is GS > Staff for Shatter builds?

Lol well its not that I dont know why. I just enjoy D/D Ele more than my thief, and it has MUCH more survivability. Sure not nearly as much burst, but I can actually stay and contribute in a fight.

The w/e reason is more along the lines of "one of multiple reasons, including wanting to play the “OP Class” or “Like Thieves burst more” or “realised they liked thieves playstyle over ele’s” or “Hated the learning curve”

Anyway, for a cloth based “melee” class, we have surprisingly high survivability and to top if off, if we get sick of it we can switch to support with Staff (not in same match obviously)

0/0/10/30/30 can be quite generic. Most of the time I switch between 0/10/0/30/30 and 0/0/10/30/30 depending on if I’m using Daggers or Staff (specs are in that order).

Its good to have a couple ideas and just write em down. Thats what works for me anyway
