Don’t forget, if you’re a mesmer then you need to be able to lay dead on Bay watergate for hours at a time. In the hope someone comes and resses you through the gate. It’s the NUDE way…..
So perhaps it’s time to rewrite the rules around the AFK timer in WvW.
Perhaps not even DCing the person and just ejecting them from WvW back to PvE land.
Would be easy to implement as you can make Waypointing the only thing that stops the countdown after death. If the countdown completes they get ejected to Lions Arch.
Normally I don’t have too much of an issue with odd mechanics, and I should say from the start I have nothing against a mesmer being ressed through the watergate at bay.
Having to sit on a corpse for 10-15 mins to make safe a keep is no big issue.
What I do have an issue with is…..
A player can actually remain dead in the water for hours and hours on end, if a friend just resses him a really small amount it resets his auto-kick timer. I have been sat next to a mesmer in bay now for some 2 hours. Took me an hour to work out what was going on.
Surely this is an exploit and does need fixing?
You need to run your game as admin so it has write access to the file that it needs to keep re-downloading.
If it cannot write to the file it will download the new one each time you start your game until you run it as admin so it can overwrite the file with the updated version.
Run As Admin
- Close your game completely.
- Right-click your GW2 game shortcut and click on “Properties”.
- On the “Compatibility” tab, check/enable the box at the bottom for your game to “Run As Administrator”.
- Hit OK after making sure this setting is enabled.
- Re-launch your game and see if the issue persists.
It will likely need to do one final download to update the file properly. Any future launches should not have to download the file again.
That fixed it thank you, but again why with ALL other games do they prompt for Administrator access when required?
Why is GW2 the only game that requires to download 10mb every single time you open the game in order for it to detect whether it needs to update?
A 10mb update to detect updates? This seems massively excessive.
As someone on a completely unrestricted internet it’s not so much an issue, just having to wait each time, but for those who are on maximum bandwidth contracts this could be an issue. If you play GW2 and load it just once per day you will be using over 0.3GB bandwidth without any new content actually being downloaded. This is not allowing for any game crashes or bugs with TP that force you to reload the client.
Surely you can do a little better than this…. It never used to need 10mb download every time. This is something that has come along since release.
Well I have to say this is above all else what WvW needs. New maps!
Truly if it takes that long to make a map then they really need to develope their tools a little. In fact I can’t believe they don’t have map making tools, why not just develope this to be a wvw specific map maker. Then alot less testing will be needed, the developer should instantly be able to see all the areas siege can be built and what is within their range, any potential glitching spots through wireframes not meeting etc.

I’m not suggesting they allow me any extra skills with it, just turn it into another currency so at least I can spend it. Currently it is just an ever increasing number of no meaning.
So I recently hit rank 1315 (I think that was the rank, when I say recent I mean last few weeks) where I no longer have anything I can rank up.
Whilst I liked account bound WXP to begin with, I soon realised that because of this I no longer had any goals in WvW. I had managed to get “Applied Fortitude” and “Applied Strength” on 4 of my 9 characters, yes it was a bit of a grind but it was a nice goal to have.
Now all of a sudden not only do ALL of my chars have maxed Fortitude and Strength they also have max everything else….. I currently have 188 Ranks to spend and nothing at all to do with them.
Anyone have any further insight into where Anet will go with this?

I have tended to stop posting on the forums as about 75% get deleted.
But WvW seasons are ridiculous…. I was actually half excited before the free transfers, as there were many servers that were evenly matched and would have made for a good tournament. Unfortunately Anet saw the dollar signs and offered free transfers.
Now you might not see any money being made by Anet there, but what will happen is at the end of the tournament all those guilds that stacked their respective servers will pay to move on. Not wanting to face the queues anymore and wanting to fight new opponents in gvgs. We will then spend the next 2-3 months balancing out the servers to a degree, then Anet will offer free transfers to mess it all up pre tournament 3.
We had a reasonable balance in WvW, until servers started tanking to get into Silver/Bronze and Anet dropped free server stacking into the pot.
I reported several times, here’s hoping he gets banned.
A shame it was on FSP aswell, I’ve never before seen an FSP hacker so this is in no way directed at their server and I implore them to report this hacker aswell.
Why people have to ruin the game for others is beyond me….
Great fights with FIRE, xXx and FAME, well done for having a little honour and dignity. Sorry about the guild from GH that kept jumping in, very much like DFC or whatever their name was.
Most fun I’ve had in WvW for a while, nice to fight against you Trip after fighting alongside you so many times on AG =)
I have to say to all the people moaning about hackers last night you are a million miles away from the truth.
There appears to have been an issue with one of the major EU network peers. This seemed to effect everyone in the UK on SKY and Virgin broadband. Everyone on BT played fine, so BT obviously use another peer. Anyone on one of these ISP’s that peered with this EU network then had massive, massive lag.
This effected a good 1/3 of our guild group and certainly effected several DL that I was trying in vein to have a fight with as they jumped ALL over the place =P
Just to say thanks for the 2 weeks of fights DL, your numbers on the whole are huge, with a bit more coherency amongst those numbers I believe you would do well in a Silver League. A bit more ability to resist the guild groups during primetime and I think with your coverage you will be a top 1/4 of silver league.
And a little sorry to FoW, this week can’t have been much fun at all having to deal with large DL zergs and decent sized RoS guild groups. Although for a couple of evenings this week the most fun had was on FoW border in the 3 ways.

Well let me get this straight for you all, having been a previous member of NP and a current member of KISS.
There was no communication between NP and KISS last night other than the odd passing comment in map chat. There was certainly no plans to double team anyone. You just had 2 guilds on your map chasing orange swords.
NP wanted to fight TaG, all good we stood well back and let it happen. It inevitably put up orange swords on the map and the RoF pugs started pouring in. At this point and at this point only did KISS intervene and help. Whether the guys from TaG could see the 20+ pugs dropping into the fight I do not know. We also won’t mention that a large number of those pugs were unloading there skills on NP from the invincible bugged out zone near the spawn.
So that’s the whole thing in a nutshell.
Sorry, but I am now of the opinion that Blobbadons and Desolation should just be suspended from WvW for the 1st two weeks of the new league.
Having servers purposefully drop to lower leagues is a joke, if this was any sort of outside sporting event those 2 servers would have been banned for life for match fixing.
Anet please stop this trash from happening, there is blatantly 2 Gold League servers in the Silver League.
Currently we are reduced to contacting our guildies through either /g, /w or GW2 Mail.
Which is great, but when you have to contact 15-20+ guildies who are not online or currently repping another guild you have but one choice, keep typing those names in the address bar and hope they are all correct. How people with hundreds of players manage is to have to rely on an external force of communication.
This is most cumbersome indeed, we need an ability to send GW2 GuildMail. I never realised how lacking the actual ability to manage your guild really was until I recently started one. Some things you have amazing in depth control, such as the upgrades etc, but then you lack the ability to contact everyone in a sensible and easy fashion.
I know the mailbox sizes are lacking for players but I can’t believe that holding basic string text for players to a decent size is a problem.
TLDR;
Please make the mailboxes bigger
Please create an easy method to email your whole guild
I think the issue is that there is overlap of the counts. So for example each world can have between 80-120 players per map, but the map is capped at 300 total players.
This means that if World A and World B jam in 120 players who never leave then World C can only get 60 players on the border before the queues start.
In fact it has to work like this, we have all seen our borders queued with only a small handful of players compared to the other 2 servers. But with the ability to jump queues (with a taxi character) this mean that unless you get your players in the border first you are pretty screwed.
Short and sweet, restrict the number of times a combo field can be blasted.
AoE is restricted to 5 players, but that same AoE field can be blasted by your whole team giving everyone the resulting combo field. Lower the number of times a field can be blasted to 5 and you will instantly cause a reason for the blob not to turtle and blast before every single fight. Therefore removing some lag and giving people a reason to run in tactical teams.
The grub managed to spawn on the walls of our keep, we were already outnumbered on the border, needless to say once the grub was done destroying siege we lost our keep within minutes.
Please fix this Anet, in fact just remove all the champions and pve mobs from WvW.
Good fun this evening and a welcome change to the Blobbadon and Vizunah skill lag sessions we’ve had recently. Had some great fights on Kodash border when hanging with the DAWN crowd.
Had some nice fights against GH after that around SM. Had some nice 2 v 1’s, 1 v 2’s and some decent 30-40 man groups hitting each other. Yet barely a moment of lag.

Just a little message to the 2 thieves who tried ganking me in Bravost yesterday evening.
I had been afk for a few (5-10) minutes chatting on voice comms, when I heard combat. I looked back to my other screen to see 2 thieves had just popped out of stealth and were attacking my mesmer. Needless to say they both died very quickly, 1 of them was upscaled and the other one was just rubbish. You epic failed to even hit me for more than 1k in your heartseeker spamming of doom.
No offense but I would suggest trying other professions, you really aren’t cut out to be thieves. My commendations for staying stealthed for sooooo long inside bravost, but you would never have recapped the tower, the champion would have torn you to little pieces.
Lol please point me to where I stated that my actions/words caused Vizunah to fight as I expected?

From your statement above you obviously expected to lose Evolution points, otherwise your long tirade is pointless. Then all of a sudden your server starts playing like we expected on Friday and you no longer are losing Evolution. Now this is what my server expected…. But it seems that my views whilst correct, weren’t good enough for you.
It’s nice to finally encounter a server in rank 1 playing like a server in rank 1, up until now I expected ALOT more from Vizunah. As said before you were comparable to Abaddons who are many places below you in the rankings. Now finally you are playing like a Tier 1 Rank 1 server.

With the actual rating system, if they were numbers lower than one, lets say rank -30, which is 31 ranks after 1, he would have lost way more points in this matchup, it is simple calculus, for example, if we faced vabbi, we would have actually lost hundreds and hundreds of points, and we would have needed more and more point difference to have a better evolution, this is like leveling a level 99 blastoise on level 2 ratata, if you prefer, it’s simple logic, now, stop trying to troll around, you are just being harsh and negative to all of us, you have no reason to be mad, if you dont enjoy the matchup, dont play, good luck, and have fun.
So you can gain evolution if you play like a rank 1 server….. So your simple logic is nowhere to be seen….. How does your simple calculus add up now?

Well I have to say, if Viz didn’t manage to night cap everything then this match would be almost even. AG and Kodash manage to hold decent PPT even tho the Viz teams turn it all to paper everynight. I have to say I am massively underwhelmed fighting Viz.
I was expecting new tactics, decent play, good guild fights, all I see is the same old rubbish you get in the higher tier high wvw pop servers. As a server we definitely learn more fighting Gandara and Augury Rock in a week than we would ever learn in a year against Vizunah, you have shown absolutely no tactics that would infer you are number 1.
You have numbers, that is all… Nothing less and nothing more. You win with a zerg and a night capping pvdoor team. Well I just had an interesting time on AG border, it really cheered me up and gave me some hope that all enemies aren’t nasty red tags on a screen. =P
4 Germans who I shall leave nameless opened Cliffside, Longview and Garrison, killed everything and invited me in to cap. My German accomplices apparently just after the “champion loot” invited me to party and then proceeded to knock down all the doors with to the above towers and keep with golems. I should also say at this point Aurora Glade currently held nothing on the map as Vizunah had recently zerged the whole place. They killed the champ, collected there loot, then moved onto the next target. Each time inviting me in to cap.
As I goto bed now those 2 towers and 1 keep are our biggest collection of points and the whole thing has left me highly amused. Thank you chaps.
I don’t often post on the forums…. Firstly thankyou to the small gang of Kodash we fought yesterday from I believe VSS guild. Had a long old fight and no interference from the blobs. A nice change for this matchup.
Second why the hell do Vizunah players play so much WvW? We just had our first proper 3 way of the week inside SM as we capped it. My goodness the lag is horrendous, 10-15 second lag if your skill even fires off. I assume the Vizunah players just enjoy slow FPS and an unresponsive game more than any other server, hence you’re number 1….
Lastly, why did Kodash even get involved in the SM cap? That was your opportunity to go and attack the french keep. We are both massively outmanned so a little common sense is needed.

Well I don’t comment too often in these threads as they often turn into a troll fest. But wow the match this week is like a breath of fresh air. Still a little blobby, but compared to the last several weeks it’s fun in bundles. Someone on my server today pointed out that we had “lost X camp”, to which I replied “who cares, this is the most fun in weeks, points this week are irrelevant it’s all about the fun”….
Gandara have been having some awesome open field battles with us, pushing back and forth.
MS is still a little blobby but at least not afraid to fight unlike several servers recently.

This has happened lots on Aurora Glade. It actually appears some players get bugged.
The same player can cause all siege to disappear when they try to build. This can then be fixed by getting that player to repair a wall/gate etc. Seems to reset their siege building bug and stop the despawns.
Hope this helps work out what the hell is going on.
You crack on, I’m a wvw player but even I have nipped into pve and am even close to world completion on 1 of the 8 level 80 characters I have. Gives you something to break up the day when you really just can’t bring yourself to be trounced by a zerg again =)
Of course I soon get bored by the AI and resort back to wvw, but it does break it up a little and make me a few gold.
I’m not impressed with the 4 people from SVSL guild who magically appeared inside StoneMist Inner without a broken gate or wall in sight…. No mesmer either…. All reported…. But I would suggest an officer of SVSL investigate as it seems you have a bad egg or 2 in the basket.
The last 2-3 days my trading post has been completely blank. No authorization error nothing. The window opens, but there are no contents to it, just the background.

Before anyone asks yes I have rebooted and re-logged several times, also on different characters. But to no avail, same result. I have experienced many of the odd errors over the time with over 2000 hours of play.
This is now becoming a massive hindrance to continue playing without any ability to trade……
This exploit does need looking at. What is the point of being the red team, seeded 3rd for the match, if all the other teams can just jump over your walls?
Oddly I must have fought XXX at least 30-40 times this week… Strangely none of those videos show the fights.
Oh I remember why, you were face down in the dirt, or too busy running away from the fight. Nice propaganda video, but you need to do more to impress this community. 1-2 days of fighting and you have 17 mins of you winning fights. You’re the best!!!
We’ve all seen them, they appear next to a node, mine/chop/gather it, then disappear into thin air. Often doing it so quickly you can’t click on them and report.
What is being done about these people? Without being reported are they being caught?

Well I have to say after playing WvW since the start this is pretty much the best evening of WvW I can remember.
Zerg vs Zerg is no longer a straight push into each other and lay everything you have down in the hope of hitting the invis/culled enemies. For the first time last night I think I saw actual tactical zerg vs zerg play. Now this sounds crazy but we were on an enemy border last night, we had 2 guild groups and a few pugs, probably totalling 60 players at it’s height. We came across an enemy group of around the same and we circled each other vying for the best position before anyone even engaged. During the engagement I could actually target and kill people without them disappearing on me.
Even better I could stand on the top of Hills with 40 allies around me and see enemies from miles away… This truly is the best thing wvw has had done for it since they first introduced culling and ruined the experience of large scale battles.
This truly is a breath of fresh air and nice to see alot of my old friends who had left WvW come back and play.
Only thing left to do now is give us something worthwhile buying with badges, any serious wvw player has Karma coming out of their orifices as it is. What do we need with Karma armour sets? The one small bonus is I no longer need to trek my characters to Orr for exotic armours…. But then with the amount of Karma I have and make would I spend badges? No, I will spend karma if I can….

I’m all in favour of a simple round robin league. This means you would get to fight ALL servers during a WvW season. Sure some weeks you will get smashed, some you’ll smash and some will be tough fights. But at least it adds variety, the guilds on my server can fight some of the higher and lower tier guilds without spending ridiculous amounts of gems on moving servers etc. Would perhaps give people that bit of enjoyment back while you work on the underlying issues in WvW.
Lol apparently putting Anet in the title of your post gets you an infraction from the forum police…. Sad… Eventually they will have no forums as anyone with the ability to give feedback in literature form will have been banned…
Anyway the ideas are great, reducing treb range is a fantastic start. But above all else I am loving the idea of needing to provide ammunition to the siege installations.
This would stop billy the botter from setting a macro up to fire his treb ontop of Stonemist indefinately. Great thought behind that one.
And yes I am fully aware sieges can’t be a realistic representation of the world, most of us do have real lives, but currently siege is not involved in this game at all. A siege sounds like the kind of fun we should be having.
Again please keep the thoughts and suggestions coming.

Culling. Needs sorting whatever is suggested.
Siegeing is definately too quick currently… I’ve been in some sieges that takes less time than some 1v1 fights. This is not a siege… This is part of the merry go round.
And I wasn’t talking about map exploits, I was talking about map layouts. Currently the maps have wasted space. Too much pve, we do not need jumping puzzles. The towers and keeps are too close together for proper siege to form.
A grouping system definately has to be on the list, but most guilds just manage with the crosshairs above the leaders head. Or have him painted in a nice bright pink, take a ghostly tonic etc, which does the job for now. There is nothing that will “make do” in terms of maps, siege damage and culling. No matter how inventive we get these are issues the devs need to address, not the players.
