It does seem a little improved again when loading in for a second time.
Now down to around 12 seconds to load LA.
Waypointing in WvW is now alot quicker and almost back to normal, but not quite.
Still rubbish load times.
Has improved ever so slightly. But still my normal 3-4 second load time is now around 20-25 seconds.
Yup long load times, compared to pre-patch.
Running a fast SSD and overclocked I7, maps always loaded in 4-5 seconds.
Now map loading can take 20+ seconds. Really annoying when map jumping in WvW.
Please stop ruining threads with talk that Anet will close the thread for.
Why people need to keep mentioning server names is beyond me. You want match-up threads? Then go to gw2wvw.net along with the other trolls.
As for this thread I still don’t see how any competitive game with 3 opposing teams and only 1 winner can do anything but 2 v 1. If 2 v 1 isn’t happening then one server is sat down doing nothing. I certainly don’t remember any server sitting in their keep and waiting all night because they didn’t want to 2 v 1 other teams.
Well we did a stack at reset, we had 84 on tag. A few were on the spawn point still and a few more using NPC’s.
After a quick count we made it 95 players. But this is on a T1 server in EU and I believe total numbers allowed in maps is based on the server resources they allocate. Which may well and are indeed likely to be lower on lower tier servers where general populations are smaller and Anet can use the server resources for other things (PvP Arenas, Dungeon and map instances, etc).
We are also not sure what uses the server resources anymore, it once used to include mini-pets, pets and pieces of siege already on the map.
SM is always something of a joke in T1 matches. No-one wants it unless it happens to have a chunk of supply in it. I’ve seen it still grey several hours after reset.
Whilst it has been the base of some really good fights, it is also the place of the most painful lag.
Just as an idea, perhaps the outer wall of SM could be made up of 3 Towers, 1 for each server. Control of SM central tower/keep would be dependent on holding ALL 3 towers.
Unless all 3 towers are controlled the central keeps gates remain wide open.
All towers are outside treb range of each other, and preferably require a decently long run to get to. Making defending all 3 an almost impossible job.
This would make SM more a skirmish point, rather than the normal Friday night 3 way lag monster.
Isn’t it cheating or considered trolling to double team a server?
Sorry but exactly how do you suppose a fight with 3 competitors can ever end up being anything but 2 v 1?
The whole point of having it as a 3 way fight is that at any point it is always 2 v 1 in some manner. Otherwise things would be even more stale than they are right now.
The only other way you could do it is nobody fights and they just karma train around, never meeting each other in fear of starting a 2 v 1. If you want that go EOTM……

The same also applies with fractals, toxic raging speedrunners or nothing at all.
So I shall stick with my almost non-reward WvW play.

The 2 buffs actually make several builds viable that will no longer work after removal.
Less usable builds, less fun…..
“Fast enufff” is not optimal… I tried to give you a tip to improve your play so that instead of running away for 4 mins you would have probably accomplished a few kills.
The really good thieves would have made mincemeat out of those few near the blue keep. Not had to spend the whole time running away.
First thing I would advise is joining your servers Mumble/TS voice comms. Even if only to listen. You get a much better idea of what the “master plan” is.
Second ask fellow players about builds, as already mentioned mobility is key.
Third is have fun and laugh at death, wvw leads to lots and lots of silly deaths and the more you learn to laugh at the funny ones the longer the fun will last.
This was not meant as any sort of “I’m better than you comment”, fact is I claim nothing of the sort. The real point is people who use keyboard shortcuts and hotkeys have much reduced skill activation time. They can also spend more time looking at the enemies around and not their skills. This is a massive advantage and all I did was suggest you try it.
Now climb down off your clicky high horse.
NPC guards are still spawning as enemy NPCs. Oddly they spawn Yellow (Neutral), then as our guards attack they change to red. Not sure if that helps.
Supplies are still bugged on any keeps that haven’t been flipped since the update.

Stop clicking your skills with a mouse, either develop better keyboard shortcuts or get a decent multi button mouse. You ran into a several people there that you obviously didn’t see as you were too busy looking to click your skills.
Just a note of interest, I mentioned before about disconnects when queueing or upon queue pops. I forgot to add the error code I get.
1055:5:1:874:101 is the code I get, it only triggers when trying to queue or when accepting a map transfer.
Not sure if this help, I suffer the lag as everyone else does on SFR.
But I also suffer from a bug queueing for maps, upon clicking “yes” to queue there is around a 50% chance the game will just disconnect me. This does not happen when jumping to borders without a queue. It will also happily disconnect me in pve doing the same thing.
My internet connection is fine, maintaining a ping to the London Internet Exchange and several places around europe with decent times. But still queueing can have a 50% chance of disconnecting me.
Still happens to me regularly, only ever happens when a queue is concerned. Never happens just hopping border. But if I have to queue it now dc’s so often it’s not even a surprise anymore.

Also as an SFR player I can safely say that in no way do hackers get any support from SFR and that the community would happily report this moron.
Also I would like to point out that previously the biggest hacking server in gold was FSP. But as a player I recognise this was not FSP’s fault but a single individual on their server spoiling it for them and their enemies.
So please stop with the blanket accusations.
I’m no EOTM player and not even sure what I am about to suggest is possible in that keep. But in WvW I know only too well that you do not need a zoomhack to hit the inside of a tower/keep.
A carefully placed AC near a gate can also hit within the tower/keep. You target in the gap above the gate, and is also a standard tactic in Gold Leagues for clearing some siege. The downside is the ac must be built close to the gate and within easy reach of the enemy to remove.
Just a thought because not every AC circle inside a tower is zoomhacked/aspect ratio changed….
Not one person seems to have mentioned the likely extra load on the servers.
As I remember the best hard CC skills have no target limit, and will have the ability to remove a “stack” of stability. Is no-one else worried about the extra load on the servers having to calculate all this? WvW is almost unplayable in the 80v80v80 battles, with extra math having to be done on skills with no target limit surely this will turn it back into 1,1,1,1,1 spamming on guards anyway?

I in no way mean this to be derogatory but your current WvW stats would not get you into even the semi serious WvW guilds. How can we trust in a “specialist” who was never actively involved with the forums and certainly is no serious WvW player.
A commander can make 2k+ kills easily in a week and sometimes even more in one single evening in primetime. So we do have to wonder what you’ve done with your time in WvW.
So please Anet if you are to employ a “WvW Forum Specialist” should they not be a specialist in at least one of the areas of subject (forums/WvW)?

This is about the only mass PvP game where commander sniping has been accepted as a valid tactic. It should be considered highly bad form and often ruins a good fight.
When a commander dies a zerg often scatters, you might catch a few but you miss a hell of a lot more than you catch. Why ruin a good fight like that?
If GvGs resorted to commander sniping the best guild would just be the one with the most commanders/drivers.
Anyone who states overclocking voids warranty is wrong….
Many gaming systems come with a full warranty on overclocked systems.
Personally even as an IT Manager with a budget like that I would be looking to buy an overclocked system.
The game runs on a DX9 engine which is far more CPU bound than GPU bound. This means that clock speed of the cpu is more important in smooth GW2 play than anything, due to the game only utlising 1 core and not multi threading.
For $2000 you should be looking at getting a proper overclocked gaming system built.
Even on overclockers.co.uk I would struggle to spend $2000 on a system…..

As an SFR player I can assure you that the 2 weak servers often gang up on the 1 strong server. This has seen some of the most frustrating but also fun times as an SFR player.
Our Garrison and Keep on EB see more 3 ways than SM, the only real issue and why it gets frustrating is that Anets servers can’t handle 3 ways. The dreaded skill lag kicks in and guardian 1,1,1,1,1,1 is about all that’s left to do and see who wins.
I wonder what the chances of the servers getting upgrades with the release of HoT? Perhaps we can finally all have those 3 ways that we’ve dreamed of since GW2 released without the lag fest ensuing.

Yup same as… On SFR and 2 borders are non-enterable (Home and Desolation).
On the plus side I had more fun in OS than I’ve ever had in there.
They have ignored WvW and as such lost 90% of the known big MMO guilds. Alot of a games advertising now comes from the players with services like Twitch, but who the hell streams PvE?
WvW is a competitive mode that has always had more interest than SPvP, but been neglected by Anet so badly that if it were a puppy they would be up on charges of abuse.
If the 24th comes and goes and not a mention of WvW we can assume the game mode will be left to die.
I have heard of a few others suffering this issue, whereby sometimes simply entering into a queue will cause a “Network Error” message to appear and the client disconnects.
Even more annoyingly it will often occur when the queue pops and you click to join the borderland you had been queueing for. Again same message “Network Error”.
I have run recursive pings to several places worldwide during gaming sessions to establish this is in no way related to my/local internet issues.
So who else is having the issue?
In before this turns into a who hacked first thread and also before the forum mod’s come back to work and sweep this thread under the Anet rug.
As we all know there are NO cheaters, if it was a problem surely Anet would give us an option to report them. 1 extra choice in the drop down window for reporting would hardly break the programmers back.
Currently we have no reasonable way to assume that Anet even reads exploits@ or watches any of the attached videos. Or surely by now our game would be almost hacker free, but the same old hackers hang around like a bad smell for months on end.
Already bored senseless with having to check every single gate/wall everytime a keep/tower is contested. GG Anet you just made the people who actually pay and play WvW completely alienated from the game mode. Anyone else stopped spending gold on upgrades? Well it won’t be a gold sink for me anymore.
Saving a camp is now impossible without several scouts in the camp. Small havoc and roaming groups can go for hours without finding a fight.
You have catered to the people who blob up in a guild for 2 hours each night and couldn’t give 2 kittens about PPT in any form. If the intention is to completely kill the game mode then you only have 1 thing left to do, give the guilds a proper arena to challenge each other. WvW will then be a ghost town and I’m sure you can turn some of those expensive servers off or use them for your next big eSport/(FAIL) event.
You have an engine that lends itself well to a large scale MOBA and fail completely to utilise it and insist on these ridiculous 5 v 5 arenas. Have you seen how much some other completely F2P games make? LoL now has 64 million regular players? Do you not want some of that pie?
Time to perhaps do things like a basic player vote on changes? This way you won’t feel inclined to play WvW with a guild and listen only to their ideas.
Ok I will keep this short and sweet as the initial idea is such, but could provide alot of diversity within WvW.
New match rules implemented on reset, these could be implemented through a basic buff system. So this could actually make those awful armour stat sets usable. It would need some thinking by the Anet balance team (if such a thing truly exists) but would allow a little more diversity in play.
But some interesting rules could be:
+40% Healing power, -20% Vitality
+30% Condition Damage, -30% Condition Duration
+40% Toughness, -40% Vitality
+30% Vitality, -30% Boon Duration
Well you get the point…. The other small things that could perhaps have rule changes implemented would be:
Barren Supply Week (Dolys carry half supply, but move 1.5x as fast)
Super Supply Week (Dolys carry 1.5x as much supply, but move -%50 speed)
Killer Lord Week (Tower and keep champions receive a decent buff)
No (insert siege name) week (A whole week without trebs or ac’s could be very interesting)
Double points from another *colour (Easy enough and would force the merry go round)
PPK Week (All points acquired from PPK, nothing from territory held)
PPT Week (All points acquired from PPT, nothing from Kills)
Again you get the general idea. Whilst not huge changes to the format etc of WvW these simple RANDOM rule changes would at least make for a little more diversity within WvW. This I believe would also keep us (the angry wvw mob) happy until some proper remapping work can be done.

As mentioned the first thing is to keep you alive and get in the tower…. Hence the build and skill talk.
Once in the tower if you are alone without pre-built siege and there really is a horde (40+ players) outside, then your options are limited anyway. Siege disablers will slow them down if you have supplies. If the tower/keep has a treb facing the direction of the horde that’s normally option 1.
But to get used to WvW you want to find a map with a blue commander tag, get on the server teamspeak and start learning. WvW ranks will soon start flowing in.
Ok well after having a quick look through your build thread, these things I would recommend.
1, You are not quite level 80, once level 80 in full knights exotics you will be able to take alot more damage, so make level 80 a priority.
2, Make sure at least 1 of your utilities is Stability. (Balanced Stance, Dolyak Signet) Learn when best effective to use these.
3, Only use longbow on a condi warrior. Even then they are definitely one of the most disliked classes in WvW along with our old friend the Ranger.
4, Make sure you have dogged march traited, whilst running decent condition removal food and Dwayna Runes then most immobilizes will just not work on you.
5, Run full tank until you get the hang of WvW, even then a warrior is best built as mostly tank and spanking butts at the front of the zerg.
But most important of all, find a nice group/guild and have fun.
Dying is all part and parcel of WvW so getting used to it is no bad thing =)
At this point after 2 years I would accept them mirroring the borderlands so Bay and Hills are on opposite sides of the map. Not really a change but god at least it will feel a little different.
WvW is like eating the same lunch for 2 years, all they have changed is the wrapper/packaging. It’s still the same old baloney in the middle with some very stale bread around it.
At this point being offered broken glass for lunch sounds interesting…..
I still think cliffs are stronger than stairs as you can actually avoid death from stairs if you stop a few seconds before your HP runs out. Cliffs are usually insta-death.
The point is, standing on a small cliff that should I jump from will remove around 50% of my health. Whereas running down the gentle slope next to said cliff can kill me halfway down.
We’ve all jumped from tower walls and they take tiny amounts of hp to the ground, run down the stairs just next to you and you can be dead before you get to the ground.
No this is not a moan about warriors, thieves, stealth/invisibilty but the most deadly of all classes in WvW. The gently declining slope and their stairs counterpart.
Stairs and slopes in GW2 account for more ridiculous deaths than should be happening. Why do I take 10x more damage walking down a slope that looks built for wheelchair access than jumping off the cliff next to me, which declines to the same point from the same height?
Will these gently declining slopes ever be sorted or should we be putting Anet in touch with Stannah Stairlifts?
ArenaNET please fix the slopes and stairs, their must be a variable used to determine what rate of fall over time causes damage and I think this needs some tweaking.
P.S Before anyone implies that we are “falling” down the slope, the feet remain safely beneath us at all times until the point of death.
TL;DR Slopes and Stairs in WvW are a pain in the rear and cause annoying death for no reason. Please fix.
Canon is great fun, get your condition necro out, then hit people with “grapeshot”. 10 stacks of bleed ticking at over 100 per tick. People melt….
Canons covering dolys and sentries are best. Thieves really struggle with 10 stacks of bleed and can’t cap a sentry point while invis, it won’t stop them trying and dying though =P
I can only echo the sentiments of most in here.
Well done for blasting EoTM, but it has somehow taken away the prestige WvW players have in their title. So there really is nothing left for a WvWer, because apparently you might aswell farm a map with no influence on the matchup.
I’m rank 1720 and all of it earnt in WvW, I to date have been in EoTM maybe 10 times and saw how many upscaled pve morons (for want of a better word) there are about.
It’s a Pre-Nerf Queensdale champion train, but they get a WvW title far beyond their actual fighting WvW counterpart gets.
Come on Anet time to start balancing this crap.
I mean can you imagine, you walk into a car dealers looking for a nice new shiny car. You look around and find a model you like, you chat with the salesman who says that Blue is the standard. But should you want it in Red or Green then the cost will be 3X as much. But should you buy 3 of the Blue cars now you can change it to one of any colour later on. If you buy 2 of the Blue cars we will come along in a couple of weeks and just remove one from you. Anyone with more than 1 Blue car right now is being royally jumped on from a great Anet height.
How can you justify something as small as a colour change to a static non-animated piece of graphics and charge 300 gold for the pleasure?

This is now continuing and close to me stopping playing GW2 along with many many others. Happens in PvE and WvW…
The lag is definitely not connection related, very strong ping times to several major networks across europe.
Today is worse than ever, 20-30 second lag spikes.
Can a mod please notify this is being recognised? It is being talked about across map chat on ALL borders and in PvE.
As an update it’s just taken nearly 3 mins to get into EB, I have the loading screen up but can hear the Rain and NPC’s……
