So jumping puzzles aside, exploiting the game in PvE is okay then? It’s optional since you can choose not to do it. It doesn’t affect other players experience. You’re being selfish for saying they can’t exploit. Maybe they can’t play often because of a condition or lack the time to play and don’t want to be left behind.
So I guess those reasons justify it?
You’re once again bringing the topic to exploiting, yet it is not in the slightest bit exploiting so you can’t even compare the two. I’m not sure what you would gain from the portals being removed anyways so why are you making a big stink about it? Literally nothing in the game would change except for more annoyed players who cant do the JP and come to the forums to whine about it, and the JP being overpopulated so people would be complaining about not being able to see where they have to jump to (etc).
Suggesting to change something in the game that only maybe 10% of the population is complaining about, and that would make a lot more people unhappy is not logical. Whether you believe that porting is “wrong” or not, it has no effect on you or anyone else, you can choose to walk or drive your car but in the end everyone gets to the same destination.

The thing is that jumping puzzles are optional and you don’t have to do them. There’s many people who play this game that have not set foot into a jumping puzzle.
I disagree with the logic that just because it doesn’t affect everyone else that means it is right. Let’s suppose I just started the game. I found an exploit to level to 80 in under an hour and a way to get exotic armor from dungeons without any effort. I also manage to exploit and get a ton of laurels to get my ascended gear. I also decide that I want a few legendaries for personal use so I use bots to farm the materials for me.
Since me doing this doesn’t affect others, then it must be okay? I hardly doubt many people would see it that way.
I agree that portals should be allowed but it’s uses within the jumping puzzle should be limited so it’s not abused.
The reward is a exotic shoulderpiece that is SOULBOUND. The reason so many people want to complete the jump puzzle is to obtain this reward for their own personal gain, you cannot exploit it because it cannot be sold for more than 3 silver.
Now lets say we have an older player who just wants to complete his exotic set but has a hard time with jump puzzles. You’re basically saying, either spend a huge amount of time attempting this puzzle or too bad for you, no reward?
What about people who only have 1 hand to play with and can only play the game casually? You saying that they should just avoid the Jump puzzle in general even though the chest contains an exotic reward?
I’m sorry but i still don’t see your point. Jump puzzle rewards are not valuable enough to be an exploit, and the exotic pieces that are valuable are always soulbound. Nerfing portal in JP’s would only make you feel better about completing the puzzle.

I don’t understand why people are making a fuss over mesmer portals in JP’s, if you don’t want to use a portal, don’t use it, play the game the way you want to play it, its as simple as that. How would nerfing portals help you in any way? Increase the population in the JP to block your view of jumps? Comon now… People can choose the way they want to play the game, and some people are incapable of completing jump puzzles, so why make them suffer?
As someone who loves jump puzzles, i complete my jump puzzles normally, but sometimes i even get annoyed with not being able to make a jump, and when i’m pressed for time i don’t see why using a portal should be illegal.

Why is it when I kill a yak or kain repeatedly they call in their whole guild? /sigh..

Sadly any other attempt to 1v1 someone else in your guild results in a few others joining in when the heat is on. A shame really.

Running any form of tanky build is firstly annoying and mainly only used by people who can’t survive playing a normal build (Ex. BM rangers, Tank Mesmers)… Due to the CT’s build being mainly used as a burst retaliator, and as thieves are 90% of the time burst.. you just made yourself look stupid :/

The finishers are all the same for PVP, and it gets boring, just summoning a banner. There should be class specific finishers! I was thinking:
Thief – Throat cuts the player.
Ranger – Summons birds or some kind of animal to finish them.
Engineer – Executes the player with a shot to the head.
Elementalist – (fire) burns the foe with a bed of coals, (water) turns the player into ice, (air) summons a lightning finisher, (earth) a giant rock crushes them.
Warrior – Stomps on the foe
Necromancer – Skeletal hands pull the foe under.
Guardian – Beams a holy light down on the player.
Mesmer – Creates a Portal Entry on the ground and the player falls through it.
Mortal Kombat this stuff up!
I think this is a great idea, however it probably will not happen anytime soon.. Arenanet has too much on their plate, and changing something that already works for the sake of a better cosmetic look is just a bonus to the game… not to mention it might cause programming errors… AKA more problems they would need to fix..
If theres any chance of this happening, they would have to make some kinda money for their troubles… (Putting these finishers in the gem shop for buy)

Amateur doesn’t mean the player is bad or noob per se. Koroshi has no high level rank account thus making him an amateur to the s/tpvp scence. WvW is a whole’nother discusion. And by those standards you cannot be an amatuer by making a smurf account because you already have a high ranked account making you not an amateur.
Having a smurf account means noone knows you have a higher ranked player, there is no link to your main account, therefore they can enter without people knowing of their experience on another account, was my point. True what you said about koroshi though.

I was unaware of his rank in EU, however i assumed he had a high ranked character because ive watched him WvW and know just how good he is, which still leads to my point, how does rank determine how good of a player you are? You could be rank 50 and still be extremely bad, or rank 5 and be really good…. Deff not a good way to balance this tournament

The better thieves these days seem to be more stealthy and less bursty, though.
Either way, if you look at the Tank Cat build hes using, its specced to be tanky as kitten, which means, no burst and you’re not gonna kill someone running it, however if someone is running burst and you are able to get your Retal/Pry bar hit, they kill themselves…
And thieves who stay in stealth are not by any means “better”, from my experience those thieves are just trolls who abuse the stealth mechanic. The moment they get low on health they poof away and next time you see them they will be full health again.

After playing day in and day out on the same maps for WvW, ive started to notice that the scenery is kinda getting “old”…. The scenery in itself is beautiful but i think that it would be nice if we could have some kind of change in scenery to mix things up and keep people interested.
I thought of 2 ways that this could be done:
1. Map rotations- Every month when servers change, the map will be randomly generated for players to play on for that month.
2. Unique Borderland Maps- It’s in the title, have a different map for each borderland! Maybe have a big forest map for one borderland, a lava map for another and the current snowy map for the last borderland!
