About 2 weeks ago about 20 BG and SoR had an unofficial truce in OS as both sides helped friends and guildies through while fighting off the JQ campers at the top. JQ ended up camping the entrance so we had to stealth the last few stragglers past them, then left them again to their camping.
20min of not being under obligation to kill anything red and everyone got what they wanted.
Do you expect everyone to share the same thinking? In a PvP designed Jump puzzle, some may just go for the loot and achievements and avoid combat, but some find enjoyment in killing others. You go into the map fully knowing that everyone is hostile, don’t expect common courtesy when some enemies only see you as a loot bag.
Yo man, this is just a game. I imagine people PvP for fun, but that doesn’t mean they have to be disrespectful of other players.
Just because we cannot expect common courtesy, doesn’t mean that it’s right for people to not express it. That is just like in the real world, you can’t expect people to be decent human beings, but it doesn’t mean it’s right for people to be jerks.

Uhm, has the patch even hit yet? How can you determine if it should be in the rotation or not if you haven’t even played on the map? From the videos it looks like it will be an interesting new map that might fit the rotation, however, i thought the same for spirit watch. I hate spirit watch.
Obtain the item on one of your characters, and deposit it into the bank. Exit the game. Log back in and move the rare candy from one bank slot to the next. That split second that the item is placed in the next bank slot, exit the game. When you come back, you will have a duplicate of the rare candy. Repeat as needed.

Strictly speaking, as far as I remember you DID get both guaranteed zhaitaffy and a wings drop chance with every Dragonball match.
It would have been a lot harder / taken longer to get the wings, but hey, it takes PvE players a lot longer to get through Obsidian Sanctum, too. And some don’t succeed.
If memory serves, you couldn’t get the shattered wings as a drop, only the holographic ones. Zhaitaffy could also only buy you the holographic wings.

Also, how would you NOT consider this acheivement a PvP one? It’s in WvW is it not? This achievement isn’t required to gain anything other than 20 points, unless you’re OCD and need ALL of the achievements, in which case, you have no choice.
For those worried about not being able to get the chest at the end of the JP, it has badges in it for a reason, just like players who drop badges when you kill them, you have to work for them.
If you think the complaints are about the chest at the end then you’re sorely mistaken.
There are people who love to have all of the achievements from the events. If this were another of the WvW achievements no would be raising a ruckus about it.
Some of us are in PvE guilds and dislike PvP (and/or WvW). I enjoy WvW and the whole concept of it….but the interactions within the jumping puzzles reek of PvP where it does nothing to benefit your server for what happens in there. As someone else said, the people camping these puzzles for the sole purpose of killing PvE players going in there is like slaughtering ambient creatures. As long as I’m not completely out numbered I can usually hold my own, but not everyone is used to dealing with fighting other people. It is not like fighting PvE mobs.
If they disabled the direct attacking in there and left it so that players could trigger the traps, pick up the rocks and toss them, that would be different….and I think it would be fun. You’d get people using the traps that are in there to take out the other side rather than hiding in the dark to back stab the first person to walk by. I like strategy and skill not dealing with cowards who gang up on others just for the sake of killing them.

I think that we are more or less dealing with a community that is used to getting everything handed on a silver platter than an actual community who likes a challenge in the game. One achievement is making a worldy impact which is probably 20 points, which is less then completing your monthly? Let the achievement be hard for some people, let it be in OS. Let the people who actually have fun doing OS have a reward in the end instead of just a chest. ^.^
The only challenge in this game is PvP (imo). WvW is not PvP just to be clear.
Making an achievement hard is fine. Making it a part of something they have clearly chosen not to take part in is another. I’m fairly certain you would have the same reaction if it was an actual pvp achievement instead of wvw. Your post reeks of the noobs I talked about earlier. The kind that prey on pve players because they aren’t good enough to compete with the real pvp players.

Alright, to all of you here that think Anet should have not put these achievements in, ill explain this once and once only.
1. These achievements are optional, so if you’re not into putting in effort to actually achieve your achievements, don’t do it.
2. Would you rather a game hand you the gear and equiptment you want or need? Or would you rather work for it so you have some kind of satisfaction?
3. If you want this game to be easy mode, don’t even bother entering WvW, heck, don’t even bother doing dungeons, or sPvP or even entering Orr.
4. Fun? Whats fun? I don’t like trying to kill people in WvW, im just here to capture their towers and soak in that sweet sweet loot and exp.
Forums posts like these need to stop. Instead of whining and complaining about zergs killing you in a JP, do something about it. If you can’t complete the JP on your own, get a port or bring friends to help, don’t complain about it on the forums so that Arenanet can please your personal needs.

I think this sounds awesome! I made a post awhile back about different WvW maps, on rotations or a different map for each BL, and i was thinking something along the same lines! Only mine was Snowy/winter map, Forest map, Lava wasteland (Almost like fireheart rise).

Actually I’m asking to buff them up, not nerf them. Right now thieves are no challenge at all to kill.

I’m not even going to ask. You not once said that they should be buffed, you mentioned them running away and how its annoying that they can do that.
Thieves are supposed to have high surviability and mobility, they are one of the squishiest classes in the game. A lot of thieves prefer not to die and run away if they know they cant win a battle, do you blame them?

People that think thieves are OP dont know how to fight one. When they disappear, they’re probably either fleeing or they are going to backstab you. So when you see them stealth wait about 2 seconds and then dodge and you’ll probably evade the backstab. As far as their Initiative burst, quite a few classes can successfully either tank it or simply get out of it. Think about it… Once we blow our initiative on the initial burst, ALL OF OUR SKILLS are no longer usable. So that’s your chance to destroy the thief.

I totally agree, people need to learn that just because you can’t beat someone doesn’t mean that the class is OP and needs a nerf, it means you don’t know how to counter it, or you’re not up to their pvp level.
Lmao, thats pretty funny, i love how people just want their loot easy and act all innocent like the jump puzzle isn’t in WvW still. I guess the traps in the JP are to kill invisible mobs and not because the puzzle is meant to have a pvp concept to it.
I’ve noticed more whiners about thieves being OP than thieves whining about nerfs to be honest… People whining about stealth being “cheap” and how initiative should be taken away and thieves skills should be on cooldowns… Thieves get nerfed every patch, whiners on the thief forums will never stop… As for the people complaining about thieves being OP, learn to play your class better? To me thieves are easily countered, maybe you have to play one to know one?

I’ll try to reuse a previous example I had made and hopefully I can have it come across as how I had intended.
Suppose a player found a mechanic in the game that was not necessarily intended by the devs. This said mechanic allowed players to receive a soulbound legendary. The details about this mechanic are irrelevant as I’m not arguing whether it is possible. How would you feel if players can now get their legendary with no effort?
My intention with the above is to get you to relate to what I see when players try to circumvent content in the game via a mechanic whether intended or not (we still won’t know without an official Anet response). People can argue in support of the mechanic mentioned above with statements that not a lot of players have the time to farm the materials or they’ve just been having very bad luck. I’m sure you could include medical reasons as well.
What it comes down to is whether the said mechanic is right or wrong. The mesmer portal bypasses the entire jumping puzzle to achieve your reward. The type of reward does not make it more or less right or wrong. The mechanic in my example let people bypass the farming to achieve their reward (a legendary). Everyone can have their opinion on each side about whether it is right or wrong but in the end it’s up to Anet to decide.
You think Anet doesn’t know about porting in Jumple puzzles? The game has been out for a pretty long time now, if they didnt think about it initially while creating the actual skill, im pretty sure they know now… Maybe they arn’t always repping their Arenanet Guild but may i remind you that developers from Anet actually play the game too?

And as long as the chests at the end of the puzzle continue to not offer some kind of ridiculous reward (let’s ignore that the exotic shoulders were 60s originally), no one’s going to benefit over other players by porting aside from a little bit of time.
So I cannot help but feel that most of the complaints about portals must be about the achievement points for jumping puzzles being trivial. Achievement points are a mess in any system. They sure do provide the carrot for us all to chase, but for whatever reason people also seem to think they mean anything about skill. They should just be for fun, and as such you shouldn’t care who has what achievements.
All that should matter, until the puzzle rewards become something of impact, is if you had fun and you enjoyed it. I don’t see how others’ using portals has any real bearing on that.
Any sort of reply to answer whether removing portals from JP’s has been thought about by developers or not. If they truly intended to have portals work in this way and have no issues with it being used in Jump puzzles. At least then we can stop arguing to a wall, it will allow us to move on from this thread.

Perma swiftness from speedy kits is nice in WvW though…. outside of that elixir B is good enough. Another idea is to use tool kit, yeah you will lose the gun but you would only use it as an OH CRAP for the block lol
Kits in general are amazing, i was just going by the specifications he wanted for his build, to not use any kits (only for quick kit swap for speed), and a build that is more for pve.
Ok, it will get surely nerfed now, if you can use it to enter castles. Quite sad, since there was finally some sinergy between gadget that made using them together more useful.

I have no build suggestions for primarily P/S or P/P though.

There is no point speccing for kit swapping speed if you are going to waste a utility slot on a kit you will never use. Hes better off bringing Elixir B and getting swiftness/fury/might/retaliation.I disagree, i mean i see your point but Med Kit is awesome even if you only swap into it for swiftness and use the toolbelt skill. Also FT is great for that same reason, on a condition the toolbelt skill is worth the utility slot.
If i had Quip i would not be chillin in a Kit for very long
What im trying to say is, kits are general used for their skills, not just for the speed, and by speccing for speedy kits, you spend trait points and waste a utility slot you wont use… If he just wants swiftness, he can just use an elixir and gain extra boons + save those trait points. I totally understand the legendary weapon problem with engis though, all that hard work to make a legendary and you hardly ever see it from kit swapping….
To be honest, i don’t see a problem though, in this jump puzzle there are no “safe” zones, you have to be on your feet for anything, and if you are afk, then you deserve to be killed. I hope Anet dosn’t rip something that we love away from us just because its possible to jump to an enemies platform. If anything, make enemies invulnerable on their spawn platform, dont nerf rocket boots because this is possible.

Without portals people would actually work for their stuff, and perhaps better rewards can be given if its incredible hard. Again, this jumping puzzle is permanent. Why stress with a portal is beyond me…

As long as its a cheap and wrong way to complete a JP. Of course people are fine with it, they get free loot and they don’t have to do a kitten thing to get it! By removing it, forcing people to actually do what you’re supposed to. What if there was an NPC that would auto-lvl you to 80?
No one would complain, and you don’t have to do it. Does that mean that it isn’t a cheap way to get through the game, and the months/years ANet have been developing the game is just a waste and don’t need to be fixed? They probably used months making all the different jumping puzzles, and using Portals is just like saying “We hate your new content, lets just skip it by using portals”
No one is forced to do it, but it is still wrong and should be looked at by ArenaNet. Jumping Puzzles are supposed to be enjoyed without teleporting.Why would ANet put a reward in a Jumping Puzzle if everyone was just going to portal up anyway? Maybe they should stop awarding you for jumping puzzles, and just giving you an Achievement instead.
I’m certain they know that people skip their content, which is why the loot is soulbound and not something you could sell to make profit. Obviously people would complain about an auto leveling NPC, but what sane company would put that in their game?
You’re only thinking about yourself when you say that portals should be removed, people who want to do the jump puzzle normally, will do so, and ENJOY IT, people who don’t will take a portal. May i remind you that i hardly ever take portals and i still couldn’t care less? I enjoy the content, with my friends, and to me, thats all that matters. These people skipping the full JP are only hurting themselves.

Its not about who likes it or not, its wrong that just because you have a mesmer in the Jumping Puzzle you should be able to skip it. And if it was intended, why didn’t they just put a button with big letters saying “SKIP” ?
What would we gain on removing them you ask? Well, if you remove them you can have better loot in the end. You could have stuff you can sell on the TP for money, you could have people actually doing it.
People stuck in the puzzle for days doesn’t bring anything bad, other than crowding. But at least then you can actually get help from players with routes, tips etc. and not a website.

That is actually really true, no portals means better rewards, which means more incentive to do the JP… Didn’t think about that, however i don’t think they should completely remove the portal, just make the range really small when you’re in the JP. That way if you screw up on a small jump, you can port, but you can’t port from the start of the JP to the end.

I would be totally fine with this, but even if arenanet didnt want to go this far, make it so that if more than 1 person is downed, only the person that kills something (Not everyone that did damage to the target) gets up…. A whole zerg can rally off of 1 person dying… its just dumb.

ill agree with you that it does ruin jump puzzles, however, this form of “cheating” does not affect anyone else. Also, it does not ruin the puzzle for you so why should you care? Some people don’t want to spend the time doing the puzzle and just want the reward, others want to enjoy it and want the reward. Either way, explain to me how removing the portals from JP’s would make you happier. Seeing more irritated, annoyed players cluttered in a jump puzzle for hours? I agree that is does seem like a form of cheating, but 90% of the population is fine with it, the cons from removing the portals outweigh the pros.
Why should it affect everyone to matter?
As long as its a cheap and wrong way to complete a JP. Of course people are fine with it, they get free loot and they don’t have to do a kitten thing to get it! By removing it, forcing people to actually do what you’re supposed to. What if there was an NPC that would auto-lvl you to 80?
No one would complain, and you don’t have to do it. Does that mean that it isn’t a cheap way to get through the game, and the months/years ANet have been developing the game is just a waste and don’t need to be fixed? They probably used months making all the different jumping puzzles, and using Portals is just like saying “We hate your new content, lets just skip it by using portals”
No one is forced to do it, but it is still wrong and should be looked at by ArenaNet. Jumping Puzzles are supposed to be enjoyed without teleporting.Why would ANet put a reward in a Jumping Puzzle if everyone was just going to portal up anyway? Maybe they should stop awarding you for jumping puzzles, and just giving you an Achievement instead.
I’m certain they know that people skip their content, which is why the loot is soulbound and not something you could sell to make profit. Obviously people would complain about an auto leveling NPC, but what sane company would put that in their game?
You’re only thinking about yourself when you say that portals should be removed, people who want to do the jump puzzle normally, will do so, and ENJOY IT, people who don’t will take a portal. This makes everyone happy, except for the 10% of you who continue to whine about it not being fair. Guess what, LIFE is not fair. I don’t like cancer, or poverty, or war, but do i whine about it? I still have not received an answer from any of the people complaining as to what you would gain from them being removed from JP’s. Please, enlighten me.
May i remind you that i hardly ever take portals and i still couldn’t care less? I enjoy the content, with my friends, and to me, thats all that matters. These people skipping the full JP are only hurting themselves.
All that being said, I personally don’t care about the leaderboards, I don’t care about people getting free chests, and I don’t care about how mesmers spend their time.
I do care about the jumping puzzles which were lovingly designed by the devs, and if I was the devs, I would find a way to discourage people from bypassing this lovingly designed content and jumping straight to the reward chest AND achievement. I perceive this as disrespectful towards the arts. My personal solution would be to implement invisible check points along the way. Players ported to the end would get the chest, but only players who passed all the checkpoints would get the achievement.
There is no such shortcut for dungeon achievements, crafting achievements, personal story achievements, slayer achievements or anything else – in order to get the badge, you have to succeed in completing the task. I don’t see why jumping puzzles should be an exception.
I get that not everybody has the resources to do every task and get every achievement. I, for example, don’t have the time to slay 1000 giants, but I don’t feel entitled to get a free achievement from someone else who slays 1000 giants and then using a skill that tricks the game into thinking I did.

You did raise good points, and many people (Like myself) actually go through the puzzle and have fun doing so. However, I myself could not care less if people used portals, i use them time to time when i get annoyed at a jump i can’t make, and if you look back on this thread 90% of players agree with my thinking.
Arenanet cares more about their customers than about people taking the time to respect something they made for the game. In the end, changes made to the game are directed to make the majority population satisfied, not the minority. Think about it from a company perspective, should you take valuable time to make more enemies and have your customers get annoyed with the game?
The Portal is a destroyer of Jumping Puzzles, why do you get a reward when you haven’t done any of it?
Why should you get Exotic Shoulders when you just stood by the entrance, waiting for a portal?
Theres a reason its an award there, to make people excited and actually jump it! Not portal around it!Just make the Portal skill not usable in all Jumping Puzzles, either that or with a extreme cooldown. So if you want to “Cheat” you have to wait ages. (Also only in JP’s)

So let me get this straight, you want speedy kits, but you don’t want to use kits? You’re planning on speccing for kit swapping but not use that kit? You would basically waste a utility slot just for speed and for a cosmetic look. Not to mention its hard to find a viable build without kit use.
Yeah, lets remove initiative, and while we are at it, mesmers dont need clones, necros dont need Death shroud either…. How could you remove initiative from thieves? Do you realize how broken the class would be? Fast combat has to flow, not be choppy, they would have to rework all of the skills and could possibly ruin the whole class. Whats with people complaining and whining about thieves? If you’re getting killed by a thief spamming 2, learn to counter it, don’t expect arenanet to change a class so you can beat it.

I hardly ever play thief anymore, so im not even backing up the class like its my main or anything, i’ve encountered tons of thieves in WvW and sPvP, ill agree that perma stealth is ridiculous but stealth stomping? Nowhere near OP and does not need to be removed by any means.
Are you actually complaining about stealth stomps? Thieves take damage in stealth, its not like they are invincible, any pull, knockback, push, can stop an invis stomp not to mention AoEing the area to damage the thief. If you lost a battle with a thief 1v1 and you think youre still gonna win in downed state, youre wrong. Why not complain about Engis elixir where they can’t be damaged at all or mist form stomps? How is stealth stomping any different than those 2?
1. stealth is easily reapplied, not only that you can waste valuable time and resources blowing all your skills on a downed player trying to hit a stealthed thief that may or may not be there.
the theif can easily drop a blind field and spam heartseeker through it over and over, or he can do the same with a shortbow at a distance away. not to mention he can drop sr far away and cover a lot of ground in 10 seconds more if hes has stealth on heal or blinding powder or he’s perma stealthed.
2. a ele or eng has to drop an extremely valuable survival skill for 1 badge, its not like they cant spam invul or be perma invul.stealth the way it is, is far more useful than 3 seconds of invul on a 75 sec CD.
Ok, are we or are we not talking about stealth stomps and not just stealth in general?
Thieves can be annoying with their perma stealthing and high survive-ability, but that doesn’t mean that they are invincible, especially when stealth stomping… Blind fields only blinds anyone who steps inside of it, thieves can be knocked out of it and can still be AoEed… All of the situations you gave can be easily countered by someone who knows what they are doing. If the thief uses SR far away, an ally should be able to ress the downed player by the time the thief makes it back…
Now you’re saying that mist form and the Elixir may be on a high CD, however, they make you INVULNERABLE, meaning, if you cant stealth that downed ally or use some sort of temporary pick up, they are screwed, which is why the CD is so high. Stealth having so many counters does not need a high CD, and would make it near impossible for thieves to stomp anyone.
Also you mentioned Engis and Eles wasting a utility for stomping? It’s their choice based on the situation if they need to use it or not. Same goes for thief using blinding powder, SR, Shadowstep, are those wasted utilities too?

Its been said 1000 times in this thread already, and i don’t see why people are still whining, it’s in the game so deal with it. If you don’t want to take the portal, don’t, but in no way does it have any impact on you.
Just because it bothers you that people take a portal to the top shouldn’t make you angry at all, you have the option to do the same thing, it’s not like its a hack or an exploit, it was put in the game by the developers. In WvW, if you’re playing as a thief, and are about to be killed by a zerg of people, would you use infiltrators arrow to port up to a high mountain? or just die because that’s “cheap” and this zerg deserves to kill you.
Think about the outcome if Anet were to stop porting in Jump Puzzles. Do you think people would rejoice and throw a party? or whine and complain to no end?

Videos like this don’t prove anything because this could have been your 10th attempt at fighting them and finally got some kills, but noone knows that. Not to mention the footage is like 1 hour – 2 hours long but condensed into what? 5 minutes? You make yourself look better by editing more kills into the video and edit out your deaths.

Like the title states this post is intended to help us hopefully find a fifth player for a newly formed team. Our team currently has 4 solid players on it who are all committed to playing their best and striving to improve. We just need a 5th players who complements our team and shares the same aspirations that we do.

1. Rank 30 – 40 (Lower ranks may apply but must be willing to improve and take constructive criticism)
2. Must be open from 10pm – 2am central time as that is when most of our practices take place.
3. Must take the team and game seriously as we intend to become contenders for prize tournaments.
4. Must be able to think for yourself and take initiative when needed.
5. Must main either Necromancer or Engineer.

Hammer skills are full of knockbacks/knockdowns, and if you dont use hammer, 100 blades over a downed players body? All classes can counter a stealth stomp, too many people think its OP when in reality they just don’t know how to counter it.
Like i said before, if you’re worried about the stealth stomp in a 1v1 , you’re the downed player, not the thief. You lost that battle the moment you were downed.
