I’ll be happy when this is added because I constantly target things accidently on my elementalist. This is especially true when I use staff in large group events, THEN have to deal with tabbing to target or attempting to click the boss through the stream of particle effects and people blocking the way (I am an asura, very small).

There is nothing legendary about attaining one if you can purchase it off the tp. Most of the requirements for attaining a legendary (w.o purchasing off tp) require grinding and farming (goes against statement of game purpose) in addition to each time there’s a decent farming spot, they nerf it into oblivion. (Can anyone say skelk farming on southsun nerfed yesterday?!?)

It really depends on the situation probably, such as if you just got jumped by a bunch of enemy players you might say “oh s***” but if you direct the curse at someone such as cursing them out or using it in a more profane way, I think that’s why the line is crossed and the ban hammer comes about.

Got an update for you guys! Thanks to everyone for dissecting the current state of targeting!

There is certainly a bug with prolonged mouse-presses and not moving the cursor. I am fixing this. However, this is certainly an extreme case and fixing this will not solve all issues players are experiencing.

The current click timing threshold is 250ms. We are playing with a lower number internally to see if it causes problems like people perceiving clicks as not registering.

There is also window of error when clicking that could cause your mouse-release to select something different from what was hovered during the mouse-press. While this should also very rarely happen with the timing and distance thresholds, it is still a potential problem that will be fixed.

On top of all this is still player preference. Not everyone wants a single right-click to perform default actions. This is why we’re adding a toggle for it in the next patch.

There are still questions left to be answered for how targeting in Guild Wars 2 should work, and I’m sure these will be answered as we continue to iterate.

It’s currently down for maintenance. Honestly, all those items that are priced at vendor price or lower should be automatically closed and items returned to the sellers. There’s a ton of junk on there that can’t be touched (as far as buying/selling) that probably takes up valuable space. I assume the TP is in someway integrated into a database, in that case, condensing the contents and optimizing it would help speed up pull times when we attempt to use it.

How can there be items priced at lower than vendor value?

Because they were listed long ago, vendor prices changed. Thus why on some items you can’t meet orders because the price is lower than the vendor value.

This post is over 6 months old, why hasn’t something as simple as this been created yet? If you’re using WASD plus your right click for movement (camera) why would right click be a selectable option anyways? I can’t tell you the amount of times I accidently select allies during larger group events or world events, it’s quite annoying.

The reason is, is that ANet apparently wanted people to be able to auto-attack a target with the right-mouse button (seemingly to make combat faster) and this is the solution that they came up with. Why anyone actually needs to initiate auto-attack as soon as they click is beyond me. Even in PvP, you have to MANUALLY use all of your other skills anyway, so I don’t see the problem with players having to initiate their first attack manually too. It’s barely any efficiency loss and ridding right-click targeting issues would also keep WvW zergers from accidentally selecting wrong enemies and allies. It’s one of the main reasons I won’t touch WvW much other than world completion.

I hope in the near future they can add something in options to disable it or change it’s function. Realistically disabling it or allowing for it isn’t a big coding change, but it’d probably make a lot of us happy to have the option. I rarely right click for anything, I find it a huge nuisance.

The problem here is “farming.” Getting a legendary shouldn’t be about farming, considering you get drop restrictions in the game due to farming and how anet doesn’t believe too heavily in farming. A legendary should keep farming to a minimum for specific drops and require more events, dungeons, doing specific things with more direction.

Too much of acquiring a legendary right now is about random luck or spending money (which isn’t legendary proof of skill, just of a mighty deep wallet), or farming (which you’re penalized for farming after an hour or two with reduced drop rates anyways.

The monthly descriptions listed in achievements do not match the ones appearing in the upper right corner.

For example: it says June Achievements
Veteran Slayer: 0/25
Monthly Salvage Kit Usages: 0/125
and so on.

In the upper right hand corner when hovering mouse over it’s actually

Call me crazy but that’s a huge “oops”. I saw the monthlies last night and said “nice, they’re not so bad to complete” I woke up this morning to see those numbers quadrupled for everything. Can we get a proper number value/description showing up in the achievements panel?

View in your game yourself, open achievements panel look at the numbers listed for each monthly objective, now check off some and view their tooltip/description at the right, plus the percentages of each you’ve accomplished so far….they’re not equal.

Toughness should lower crit damage

No, there are different gear types so people can play the way they want. Anymore toughness and the challenge in different aspects of the game won’t be there. I would be for raising the low base hp of certain classes (elementalist, engineer anyone?).

Berserkers is only better for damage, not any type of absorption since it’s power, precision, crit dmg.

Some people farm like crazy or keep multiple sets of armor for each character. This might be alleviated if they ended up adding armor swap (so multiple sets of armor stay on the Hero pane rather than always backpack, same for weapon).

Rebind as separate on the mouse. 1-4 as ele, 5-8 as something else etc for the time being. They don’t have macros or addons in game, though it would be useful to save templates and bindings. I saw another post here recently regarding that and how useful in gw1 it was.

It is pretty annoying. I’ve had several times it’s dc’d me (in less time than it said) and come back dead on login. (FYI no I was not in wvw, but open world pve).

It would behoove the community to actually release it on time. If it says 1-2 hours then stay to that 1-2 hours and give a 15 minute warning, not just a 3-5min warning. Or even better, if it was 7pm and rather than say 1-2 hours say “releasing at 8pm” and have it at that, so everyone is aware that around 8 it goes down.

No, as the previous 2 posters said, it’d do more harm than good. It’s a neat idea, but realistically there’s no need for flying. Rather than being able to tell where people are, suddenly out of nowhere people drop down, kill stuff “griefing” you. It’s a neat idea, but I’d prefer that to stay in wow & other mmo’s, not my guild wars

As much as I would like to “get back” at green, I don’t think this is appropriate. It’s rewarding a losing server for losing. They’re implementing new tier system, maybe this will resolve certain servers always being stuck fighting the same servers weekly.

I agree with the opposite of DR, I frankly find DR irritating when I want to play the game my way, I’m punished for farming. Anywho, I think it should be specific areas, mobs, or some type of short time limitation otherwise it’s “oh hunt the entire world and find the benefit mob because it’s not limited”, in that regard many may say “oh well that takes too long.” Add in a potential for specific days/times that guarantee different increases. Such as one day its skelks across the world, the next day it’s sharks and barracuda, then boars. The incentive would be find these things across the world for that little increase in drops. If it’s generalized as specific mob types, you could even go to say “lizards” or “marsupials” or “fish” and of those types one specific area/mob would be the benefit.

I would think it would be something out of combat, or something out of combat for X amount of time (such as if you were in wvw fighting, backed away wait until out of combat for X amount of seconds/minutes or something).

Agreed, all the chinese farmers are controlling the market now and the prices go up and up. Noone should be able to sell their legendary, period. It should be attained, then accountbound (use across multiple characters not soulbound).

I do agree something more should be an incentive, regardless if people zerg it or not. A couple silver and a chest that guarantees rare (nice) but the normal chest is 95% of the time all greens/blues OR in more cases I’ve seen yellow orbs, worthless 10-15s value. Basically if it costs 3s to port there, you’re barely making a profit OR barely ever getting anything you could use.

How about adding world events have tokens, OR it’s a bonus like “complete 5 world group events in 24 hours = 1 laurel” or something that gives a reason to do the events.

I have soloed Orr with 3 different professions using mostly level 65-80 green gear. In fact I think pretty much all the pve content of this game can be soloed using masterwork gear (except for high level fractals where you need Agony resistance). But if you have some money get a full rare set (weapons + armor + trinkets) from the trading post. It costs few gold pieces in total. And if you have karma to burn it costs slightly over 240k karma to buy a full level 80 exotic armor set from the Orr temples.

Elementalist, Dragon's Claw Efficiency.

A lot of the class comes down to synergy between the attunements. If you spec into boons, for example, and zephyrs (air) you’ll gain 20% crit for a few seconds on attunement swap, plus the boon bonuses (water, arcane). D/D can be setup to be used as aoe type with good damage (not burst, but sustainable damage) and good survivability. The trade off is learning to use the skills properly. If you stay in one attunement wonder why it takes a while to kill things or get irritated, try swaping attunements, dodge more and see how you can combo. For instance, doing churning earth with d/d (#5 in earth), and as it’s casting switch to fire at the last second for a boost in damage. Same for d/d in air #4 (charge in), air #5 (knockdown), then swap to churning earth #5 (fire at last second), then fire #3, fire #4, earth #3 (stun), and rotate. All the while if you build correctly you’re stacking tons and tons of might. You don’t need a high attack power flat out, the stacking far more than compensates, which in turn means you’ll be doing more damage as the fight continues.

Staff is good for solo leveling, keeping you at range, same with scepter/dagger. If you truly want to test the class, go dagger/dagger and look at all the skills, see which combo together (such as stun something, then do a skill that takes a while to cast with high damage therefore the long cast isn’t as negative).

I hated elementalist after coming from gw1 with the “mage” archetype and then finding it the way it is…but, I love it now. I have 80 thief, 80 mesmer, and 80 elementalist and by far I prefer my elementalist for its unique ability to cover any situation, heal constantly, and do good damage…no not burst thief or mesmer (phantasm/shatter) but good.

Other than the scaling in orr, it really isn’t that bad. Your first time in it feels a lot more rough than it is, especially if you don’t dodge, don’t keep your eyes open, and are purely built around a dps build with low survivability. The scaling for events in orr is wacky right now, invisible one shots, ridiculous amounts of spawns and so on for the temples, but aside from that the normal zone is not as bad as this thread is making it.

I had the same opinion, “hated” orr on my elementalist when i first went speced 30/30/0/0/10 and wondered why I died with pure berserkers gear or elsewise.

Best suggestion is consider dodging, you can avoid most of the stuff being shot at you, the debuffs around the temples and statues are there for a reason, once temple unlocks those disable. Consider your build, if you’re going into an end-game zone with a BFG (yes doom reference here) and a paper mache set of armor then of course it’s going to make it more difficult to survive. Elsewise party up with people, it is the end game zone, and other than fixing the scaling for events, I don’t agree with making it easier. It’s hard because it is the end game zone, prevents some of the botting with the game mechanics, and has a wide range of “test your talents” type scenarios.

No mounts, this isn’t wow. Wow had very, very few points in each zone for flightpaths, gw2 has tons of waypoints everywhere. Yes, we have to pay a bit and it costs more the higher the level, further the distance, but it’s not that expensive. At most, probably about kitten to go the furthest across world at level 80 (guessing), a single drop or two covers that cost.

I think mounts would then have to be “siege” type weapons so we can attack with them, and that then brings up a whole new set of challenges. For now, I strongly disagree with bringing in mounts. Waypoints are a money sink, yes, they aren’t always cheap, but they aren’t burdeonsome, keep as is.

I just think, even if it’s coming, to start the conversation now, keep all the suggestions moving and keeping us in the loop to help make the game both user friendly and monetarily sustainable, because hey, if they don’t make money off it, there is no game and no servers.

Speaking with several guild members, they all agree and all said they would spend more ingame currency to have the option to swap traits out to pre-defined sets rather than having to go, reset, retrait each time. <—-A great money sink yet a huge convenience for players. I’m not saying 1 gold, but if it costs 4silver to respec at trainer at 80, make it 50% more expensive so it’s still reasonable but cheaper to actually see trainer, or make it an unlockable thing (via gems or specific gold amount) and then a set rate for swapping each time. Also, I don’t think there should be an armor cost for quick swapping each time. A 1 time only fee (like unlocking extra bag slots) would be reasonable, even encouraged to
a) drive more money into game therefore dev’s
b) provide usability to players and less hassle

I do hope the above discussed are implemented in the near future, they do have the potential to truly allow people to “play as you want, any profession” at any time rather than the current (ugh, i have to go to trainer to reset skills, ugh, now i have to click each and set it, now i have to swap my armor off piece by piece). Just my food for thought, Anet, longterm money and player viability potential here.

I would completely agree here, I’d spend real money, aka gems, to unlock an extra armor slot so I could quickly swap, same for extra weapons etc too. Make it so it’s only possible out of combat (such as out of combat + 10 seconds so we aren’t gimping anything or being OP). Just like we have costume setup, another armor setup. I think a flat rate of 1000-1200 gems would be reasonable. Anet, if you’re reading this, you could make a killing off this, and most of us would gladly put the real money into game for a convenience such as this. Longterm, it allows us to play multiple specs (if you combine the armor swap with ability to retrain talents on the fly), it means a more viable game, people dont feel “locked”. I hate to reference that ‘ol “wow” game, but the convenience would outweigh the cost, as long as you don’t price it out of this world high.

Also for retraining, it is quite annoying having to go to trainer and respec each time. Yes, add in that option to the character and charge more for it for the convenience. Instead of it being 3s, charge 5s or something to that effect. So it is still cheaper to go to trainer but faster to do it the more expensive way. It doesn’t change the impact the game negatively and changes constantly, save time, effort, frustration. Yes, I want to try other builds, swap armor, but at times it’s too annoying having to click drag everything…that is not fun, and defeats purpose of trying anything else.

+1 this if you agree with my above statements. These changes could single-handedly bring back people who’ve left the game due to the feeling of being stagnant, and generate a good sum of money. For example, if you get bored with dps, swap over to your other armor and other talents. It shouldn’t be “work” to have to switch this stuff out, which it is currently. It shouldn’t be work to have to retrain talents, which it is currently.
