First of all, there is no such thing as “night capping”. It’s a misnomer and anyone using it clearly doesn’t understand WvW. One person’s day is another’s night.
What does exist are cyclical disparities in coverage. As this thread is titled “Nerf the domination of Coverage”, that is what I’m speaking to and not to the concept of “night capping”.
As such, my suggestion does address coverage disparities (as well as karma training). In a coverage disparity, one server has more players present than another server, agreed? They then use these superior numbers to capture a great deal of the map with little to no opposition, right? This situation will never be corrected in a 24/7 format; period. We can’t change the coverage issue. What we can change is how it’s rewarded.
Some suggestions for doing so seek to devalue the points contribution of the numerically superior server. This is proposed through convoluted formulas based on population X versus population Y, time slices, decreasing PPT by some ratio during certain times, etc.
All of them fail because all them – fundamentally – devalue the contribution of a player in one way or another. People don’t like being devalued, thus none of these suggestions will ever work; no matter how logical or rational they appear from a certain perspective.
This is excellent post i for one don’t mind people taking stuff at night its when they can play. I have been on server were we did not win a wvw in almost 3 months (those who played from launch should be able to guess the server.) constantly being beat out by overnight crews and well just all around coverage. I did not QQ about it i sucked it up and played. Anet has made it clear this will be 24/7 with no restriction. We should just get on with life or you can always switch games.
I will clear up color real fast since redstar just about nailed every question. During non season play it will be based on rank so for example (ill use the match up in currently in) Fort Aspenwood would be green because they are higher then Storm Bluff and Henge of denravi Storm bluff would be blue and henge would be red because they are the lowest rank. If it would be in season since henge has the most points right now they will be green. In this case its a tie with FA and SBI with 8 points but FA had a higher score last match (or it cound be rank but im pretty sure its score) so they would be awarded blue and sbi would be red.
Umm repairs will be free the 15th so when you get roflstomped you wont have to pay. No need for a dev to email you. as for being on a losing server you can always transfer or just unistall the game. This just sounds like you want them to do back flips for you. I think I wrapped this up you can lock thread now
if conditions are so easy to clear with null field then why is confusion a problem exactly? As a shatter mes its incredibly easy to avoid getting stunlocked and having confusion stacked on you even if they manage to stun you once or twice you can just send it all back to them and watch them kill themselves. Your tears are tastey feel free to whisper me whenever you feel like it for some fights.
i love how u still come at my D cuz i said null field not arcane thievery and perplexity every skill u use can be rupted causeing 5 stacks of conf each time and there stuns have less of a cd then null field or arcane thievery, ill make sure i got one of my buds hunt u down while im at work and if u lose to him dont even bother to hit me up cuz im training him to become better. and ur still avoiding the fact that i asked u wat guild ur from and i bet u were one of the 5+ sf that tryed to jump me just now in gombl just to get trolled after 2 of u ran from me 1v2 funny thing is i dont even main mesmer, ill make sure when i come back from work ill kill u with my mes thief and war and i will change to my condi warrior build just for u. im not in the mood to hunt someone down that could be running the other direction if u wanna duel meet me at the eb jp around 9-10pm
Not being in 1 of the bigger wvw guilds here’s what i saw this week in prime time SF’s huge numbers was working the first 2 days then they just fell off. I have played with MU FBK and VLK this week and their just making it look easy you guys outnumber them 2/3 of the time i dont understand how 4 out of 5 times they will beat you. Better command is needed you guys will get there GG’s. and whoever said they were outnumber 90% of the time i call bs
