I dont play an engineer, but im very interested in trying the class out for wvw. The issue im having is finding builds/threads about wvw zergs.
There is a lot of information on spvp, roaming and some on tower defense with grenades. A few months back a great video of diving into zergs using bombs.
So short of going months back through the thread could you help by sharing wvw zerg builds? Pros/cons
Nuke them with lich form, or as Pelopidas mentioned use corrupt boon and if you time it right you can just stand back and watch them die a horrible conditions death.
I understand there are alternative specs/better ones out there that people may like/prefer.

It seems like it would be viable on paper, but in practice I just dont know anything about the class other than theorycrafting.

Yes. They get wrecked the same as any other non mesmer/SD thief.

May want to run ranger runes. The combined bonus is 9.6% between the extra precision, condition damage, and +5% damage when you have a companion (and you always do, even if they are defeated).
Ranger runes don’t give condition damage, they give crit damage and precision…
Right, typed out condition & meant crit damage. Point still stands, however. It is +9.6% damage no matter your health, flanking, etc.
Aye either would work, in this case I already bought the scholar runes so im going to use those for a while before testing the others.
Currently the highest rapid fire ive hit after using hunters shot is 19k.
Average seems to be 9500-13000 though with this build/setup
I use Scholar Runes instead of thief, at 1500 it’s a lot easier to be at 90% or more health than it is to flank.

For me and my experiences with this build now… I dont have a problem with targeting players from the side or picking off players running away as they are very easy to spot from a zerg standpoint. (huge kill me now flag when you see this)
From a solo standpoint, I will switch to piercing arrows for supply camps and have a lot of success flipping the camp faster than just about every spec ive tried.
In both scenarios I dont use endurance, my health is +90%, when it isnt im usually not fighting and trying to get away.
All in all, the positioning really spices things up for me I hope others try it and see how it works out.
Strictly speaking on WvW.
For a GS build you could do a variation of Exploits build, something like that might work
is there a particular reason you like the great sword? what are you looking to get out of a build?
I prefer the longbow/gs setup as supposed to the condi apothecary for roaming. (For example)
I usually get a nice burst in before the enemy gets in close enough to me, and from there I can decide to use the greatsword to gap close or run pending their health drop.
This is because I got extremely bored of the tough/healing/cond setup and fights generally taking too long. At this point id rather fight to the death and just respawn if need be.
That being said, I did like your shout healing build. I alternate between that and the +50% to longbow build now.
as for the OP, you could use protect me, toughness signet to help out in the melee range.

Id like that yeah, ive literally bypassed harassing your realm to flip camps and kill yaks where I can only on tc’s.
Not because I dislike tc, I think theyre a great realm and have amazing teamwork. Its mainly to target the leading realm t his week.
That being said, I have yet to see a longbow build that does more damage.
There are builds much more suited for the needs of each section of the game, this build is just a niche.
(niche because you must be positioned and have the necessary health/endurance to meet the percentage)
Using these traits:
Marksmanship
*Steady Focus – +10% damage when endurance is full
*Eagle Eye – +5% longbow damage
Skirmishing
*Hunter’s Tactics -+10% damage when flanking
Wilderness Survival
*Peak Strength – +10% damage when health is above 90%
Superior sigil of force – +5% damage (They dont stack unfortunately)
Superior rune of the Scholar or Ranger – +10% or 9.6%
10 percent from all angles with scholar if youre above 90% health
5 Percent damage with Ranger from all angles no condition

Seems like it would be neat to tinker with….
Im sure you could start/finish a fight using this skills with confusion constantly stacked with blocks inbetween.

Random Disconnects.
WVW Watching players run into walls while skills flash but don’t cast. Followed about 30 seconds later by what just happened in double speed.
Solo PVE isnt much better, havent been able to complete any escort due to this.
