I think since the patch I have seen it stop dead maybe once or twice, definitely not as bad as it was. Though not completely bug free. The other times it failed for me was just poor choices where my enemy has moved out of range just as I cast it.
Oh I am not that naive, I know full well it wouldn’t happen. It is just something I keep telling myself will happen in my ideal fantasy mesmery world. PU nerf – bug fix leads to my little asura mesmer skipping down the road singing walking on sunshine. Meanwhile guildies are cringing and blocking me over ts.
As for PU not being op …. what. It grants Aegis, Protection and Regen, on a near constant up time. In a 1v1 situation that is pretty much the equivalent of the usefulness of a guard in a raid. On top of that you get to do average if not above average damage via phantasms even while sitting in the safety of stealth, no other class has access to this sort of thing.
Okay some of the new traits grant access to the roll of protection aegis and regen but you won’t get that while having pretty purpley AI’s pew pewing at the enemy.

I have been waiting for a pu nerf for a while now and find myself hoping that at the very least they put internal cooldowns on some of the buffs.
At least then hopefully when I see a fellow mesmer I won’t cringe. This one trait is starting to make me dislike my absolute favourite class.
Sometimes I wonder if some of our bugs like the ileap and what not would have been fixed if pu was nerfed, you know something that often leads to a loss in exchange for something that often leads to a win.

I think people would hate rangers if they got killed by it repeatedly.
People automatically assume you are running a cheese build now whenever they get beat in a fair fight or they find you difficult to kill. The idea that they where out played is just incomprehensible especially if you are playing a class like mesmer where a single trait is so well known yet seems to be so unknown at the same time. (the amount of times I have had people ask me if I am running pu when regen appears on my buff bar)
I run a shatter build for raids and I bloody love it at the moment. I enjoy peeling off from the main group to attack the enemies lights. With the blink and decoy it is very easy to reposition myself away from any enemy harassment if the heat is getting too much but you have to be on your game all the time otherwise you can get in a sticky situation.
It is also funny to see enemy mesmers and eles just melt if you can get off a really nice combo they never expect it and often you are stomping before they have a chance to react.
My problem though is if I get immobilized for too long and the enemy zerg decides that they have had enough of my shenanigans, though that just makes me laugh.
Personally I am tempted to going back to roaming on a shatter build, though I have been saving roaming for my engi of late, even if I fail at the class most of the time. A girl needs a change every now and then.
I have finally settled on a look for my mesmer (give me a week and it will be something else).
This is my raid gear at the moment and I am very happy with how it looks, I did have a darker tone to it originally however we use Redemption as a guild colour and it looked weird having black and yellow and then the red eyes.
I try to solo roam still but as of late it has proven to be very difficult, normally I try to instead bring a friend. We never have more than 4 and we find that when we are in a party of five we split up.
I think small scale roaming is definitely drying up. For me I actually blame the rewards that you can receive from wvw now. When I first started playing wvw it wasn’t very profitable and people did it because it was fun.
Now, with champion chests it is so much more tempting to run in a big group so that you can maximize the amount of loot you can get.
I have gotten to the point where I only roam in certain match ups, against certain servers.
Otherwise I get my fix in spvp where I end up playing as much by myself as I can manage.
I am a fan of killing mesmers as soon as I see one I start chasing
other than that I am not really that picky but mesmers are my huge omg must attack that guy. I guess because it is my main and I always want to see if I can outplay the other mesmer.

While I have spent most of my time as a roaming mesmer due to a bad connection I do raid now and struggle to find a use for myself other than as a utility bot. I find that half the time shatters are not even very effective in raids (25-30 man group) as the clones/phantasms normally die before they even reach a target. The fact that you have to have 1-2 guards in your party to survive is ridiculous, sure, it is possible if you have pvt and staff you are down to being able to do nothing other than use utilities, cast the chaos storms and prey that your shatters might hit something.
The only time that I feel useful in my guild half the time at the moment is if I manage to place a really nice veil or if I can pull off a good portal bomb.

This has been a friggen awesome week. I have had a lot more fun than I anticipated fighting these servers and I really appreciate that.
Ty to all the guilds we fought this week it has been a blast. Also thank you to the roamers out there including the theives guild that made me swear my head off each time you got me while I was trying to regroup. So many times I wanted to switch out to my roaming set and come and play.

I really want a AG/ GH/RoS week. I thinj that would be a really fun match up with hopefully the potential for a lot of small scale fights assuming we have all got over the leagues fever. Either or no matter who we fight I am looking forward to it.

Spent 1-2 hours in RoS bay, funny to see people chasing you you run around a little and go back to what you were doing. Which was pvd the gate from inside ;p

hehe that garri fight was epic, we kept saying okay guys this is our final push lets make it a good one. Then to find out the wall was going down as well x.X it stretched our group just a tad to thin in the end. But still epic fight, I am glad we weren’t the only ones having a lot of fun there.

The horror that is work demanded less time to play during reset but so far it has been a lot of fun. Already seen a few familiar faces (prepare to be moaed while I laugh my kitten off) as well as a few familiar tags.

it’s the only way for us to get loot as all the guilds from gh flee the moment they see even a non-blob group of AM people together they go inside their keeps rather then fight. at least in taking a keep we get some silver. It will surely be a boring week.
I hear ya on the boring part I love to do some roaming but I keep finding that I loose my partners or groups (normally about 4 of us) because they got sick of being run over by 30 plus am players tbh fair enough that it happens once. That is unlucky but when you are chased around thr map 5 times a night. Then it gwts to the point of boredom.

Pst, XxX doesn’t join those massive zergs as far as I know. If there are enough guildies online they run tagless and as a group, I think they number about 20 or so though I could be mistaken.
Other than that, I kinda wish I could play a bit more during the peek hours, but what I am able to play I am sorta having fun. Doing a little bit of roaming but it seems to be anti beneficial at the moment. (that and I seriously need to consider fully gearing my new mesmer)

MS you guys are nasty taking our hills like that, it was a pretty fun fight just kinda wish I had jumped on my lvl 80 mes instead of my upskilled one sooner.
Must admit I was shocked by the lack of golems and it was a somewhat relief. Tried to do more open field fights because of it personally (though had to resort to solo or two man roaming as my internet speed dropped into the crazy ima not going to run if I see more than 10 players at once speeds). But yeah, had a lot of fun and loved reading this forum, it was rather …. dramatic, yeah that sounds about right.

Have had some rather nice small scale fights to be honest and thanks to those that have come for a visit ^^
One of these days I am going to manage to drag the walls and siege along with me when I jump out of our keeps. I will admit I try to force my clones and phantasms to drag a chunk of hills along with us wherever I go but I swear sometimes the girls get far to lazy.
Please, if anyone is aware of a group of phantasms who are a tad more disciplined can you please let me know, I pay for their services on occasion and I sometimes remember to feed them.
Gum promotes defending what they upgrade. We spend the time upgrading what we claim by running dollies from the camps and having someone watching nearly all the time.
We generally don’t run to other borders and turn it all wooden and then take off again, that is not to say we don;t do open field combat which we do but when we are badly outnumbered we rather sit in towers and keeps than face unnecessary repair bills.
hehe tbh I am kinda scared to run in a small guild group at the moment. I did so for a very short time yesterday and we were constantly running from groups four times our numbers. Eventually ported back to home since we were loosing too much of that as it was.
I just watched the vid from chuchu and watched my mesmer die continually at the hands of that necro. kitten could not remove those conditions fast enough Y.Y

To be honest we are all normally solo roamers, we group up on occasion to take out a hard enemy or if we are defending hills but normally we stick to parties of about two – three. We are only now branching out into a guild group of about 15. That time we fought at the base of hills we were all still running solo builds with very small supportive skills.
We are now trying to run as an organised group however it is still something we are working on.
