I miss playing a healer

Forum doesn’t allow for quoting again…anyway.

@Daiva – The game allows for several support playstyles with healing tweasted in it. Try to find them. So you shouldn’t “miss the playstyle” of a healer/support class. Since you are talking about PvP I will jump the gun and assume what you are actually mising is the feeling of the god kitten immortal healer that could tank 20 people on him while typing with one hand and doing self-calming things with his other.

You want examples of such healers? GW1 monk – check, RIFT cleric / chlorolock – check, Warhammer DoK/WP – check. This game doesn’t need this ilk….and there is always the response “but we are not killing anyone so we should at least be able to heal yourselve and the party” which ends up making them completely immortal to single DPS even if you try to CC etc. No no no and again no.

What the title says. Sometimes when you unsheath Bolt it doesn’t show the body encasing lightning. Just the lightning on the blade and the lightning footsteps.

Needs fixing cause it is rather anticlimax.

Deal with it please and let the devs do their work, don´t make them read these useless whine posts, while they should be reading a constructive feedback on these forums…

Apparently if you consider Chapman’s post, they don’t need to read the forums to know that something is off. It is a known issue to them. But he did feel “obliged” to answer to this thread due to the attendance and level of concern. Whether someone posts a whine QQ thread I don’t see how it interfer with a devs work. I don’t like it either but to say that they are hindering them is a bit off.

Also consider that nerf =/= useless

And it is a welcome change as well /flamesuit on

A glass cannon crying on thieves again. Another learn to play issue gone haywire. Anything else new? /thread

Really? Apparently one of the better balancing developers among the MMO companies now listens to whiners than data right? Since he aknowedged it as a known issue. Also considering to “accuse” Chapman of not knowing or playing his own game (and to argue about his player skills is rather laughable) is rather moot.

No I’m not sure what either word means, you would have to explain.

It means people that want the whole process made “easier” or less grindy if you would like so that it fits the time they are willing to invest in the game.

No. End game is not ment for everyone to be experience unless they devote specific time to this hobby. When ANet said that less than 5% of the total population will achieve a legendary I am pretty confident they were very very clear with what they said.

Your second category makes no sense, instant gratification would be impossible since there would be no game.

Do you know of the word “exaggeration”? It is sometimes used to make a point. Do you prefer the phrase watered down than instant gratification?

You’re making an assumption that because I want to get rid of RNG that I am asking for the legendaries to be easier.
Getting rid of RNG is not the same as asking for a decrease in mat requirements.
I’m not asking for a decrease in mat requirements, and by all means, increase the material requirements until it is fitting of a legendary, but for goodness sake get rid of RNG.

Telling people to avoid the mystic forge just confirms that the forge itself has major gameplay issues. I too recommend people to buy precursors off the TP as well, but it’s just sidestepping the gameplay flaw of the mystic forge.
I’m sure Anet intends the forge to be just as viable as the TP to obtain the precursor, but at the moment it doesn’t seem so.

There is NO point in taking out RNG, since RNG is an option. Don’t like it? Don’t use it. End of story.

Forge itself is viable, it’s just that some people believe they have a high chance of putting 50g of worth weapons into the Forge and obtaining 300g worth precursor.

Totally agree. On the other hand this thread is hugely derailed due to 2 types of people against the whole precursor system.

1st category is the people asking legitimetly for less RNG without making the process effortless (appropriate cost of 200-300g).

2nd category is the people asking for instant gratification or with minimal effort since they “worth” to experience all the content since they payed.

Yes, it is understandable what the 1st category is saying. A big no for second category.

Really? How about you give it a try and “dissect” my comment.

On another note…I guess you can buy 1.2 mil karma right? How about world completion. 500 honor badges? Those are also included in your to-buy list right? Don’t get me wrong. I would prefer if it required 10000 honor badges and 3 mil karma rather than gold and luck.

What developer wants to create content that only a handful can experience? I’m sure people will agree with me when I say, I don’t give a kitten about someone else running around with a legendary. I don’t see them as special or elite, that’s their business. I just want my own, for me.

Then I am sorry to say this but you probably missed the memo when ANet said that only less than 5% of the total population will achieve a legendary. Yes….all content isn’t for everyone to experience. Learn to give respect at least to those ones that have this human virtue called stoic patience cause apart from the luck factor it also requires that.

That’s exactly my case and point. Legendaries would really be Legendary. It wouldn’t be “Oh well that guy is just a gold farmer/buyer and bought Precursor X.” People would actually RECOGNIZE their achievement and it would actually mean something.

BUT IT’S NOT AN ACHIEVEMENT IF IT’S LUCK! ACHIEVEMENT IMPLIES YOU ACHIEVED SOMETHING THROUGH TRIAL AND HARD WORK!

Sorry for the all-caps, but it seems like that’s the only way to get through to you.

You are wrong. It has all the aspect of the achievement and patience as a virtue required to complete it. But on top of that it also requires luck. That doesn’t subtract from the achievement list.

To tell you the truth I wouldn’t mind for the legendary if it had been even harder. To include such a riddiculously difficult solo task that would make people pay 800 dollars per week for new computer from the physical absuse making them envying the old system with the precursors.

Yes because getting the precursor will be far cheaper than 80g. Some people seem to forget that just a SINGLE COMPONENT of Gift of “Weapon Name” which the other 1/4th of the total procedure and EQUIVALENT to the precursor, worths 100g vendor trash. And the total sum of the Gift is around 400-600g depending on matterials and Lodestones. You seriously think that the precursor will be cheaper than 80g? Or even cheaper than 200g?

Yes put a static price or matterials worth of 200-300g. Problem solved and people will stop complaining. If it is the price you are complaining about (which according to some people it is the RNG that is annoying them and not the actual price) then you should reconsider since it is 1/4th of the final combination of the weapon and this is what it SHOULD cost.

I am fine even with something as extreme as 10,000 badges + 500 SM conquests. Anything but this stupid Korean RNG.

I’d prefer though something that doesn’t take 3 months of time, no matter how skilled you are. Maybe, something like a very hard boss/quest that you have to do alone, where you have time certain skills/dodges/etc in a less than 0.25 second window. That kind of proving-in-combat would be the ideal way to get the precursor, the very 1st step towards the legendary.

Again, anything but this Korean RNG crap. Anything that guarantees you the precursor and that depends only the way you control your player with the keyboard/mouse, nothing else.

But anet isn’t even reading any of this, their official post about this was days ago, and “we’re looking into it” has probably turned to “this is totally acceptable, because we at heart are just like NC Soft and any Korean MMO company, and want you to be subject to Korean RNG”.

And you believe that thing you describe will reduce the presence of legendary weapons down to less than 5% of the total population? What kind of skill-based challenge would reduce the presence to such an extremety? And why shouldn’t one of these “qualities” of players getting one be patience and dedication? So in the end why not 3 months of effort?

Sorry but I do not agree with you at all. I do agree on the difficulty part….ON TOP of what we have to do already.

Yep, this kind of extreme Korean RNG encourages botting, and allows bots to profit. This is not alright at all. I understand legendaries should be hard to get, but what’s so ‘hard’ about botting/buying your way to 300g+ and then spending it all, probably for nothing? Where is the challenge? Where is the ‘legendary’ feat?

I agree. It should require 10000 Honor Badges and 500 Stonemist conquests right? Would that be better in your book. Cause atm as 1/4th of the whole legendary the precursor is justifiably at 200+ g.

The Legendary Letdown

in Crafting

Delolith.9645

Hmm…. I made a legendary weapon already and I also played GW1 for 5 years. Actually I am 100% confident getting GWAMM takes longer, the cash equivalent to get those maxed drunkard, sweet, treasure hunter etc is about the same time sink to get the cash for a precursor at 500g. And if you disagree then you are just bad at making money in GW2 it seems.

I didnt even flip to get my legendary, I simply played the game (80% of the time in WvW) and bought the precursor weapon for a reasonable price. Granted I didnt pay 300g for my precursor, but even if I did have to, it would only have taken an additional month more or less.

Hundreds of thousands of items…. that took some people a whole 2 weeks to obtain. If people want to gamble, that is their choice, nowhere did it ever say if you throw in 1000 items you get a precursor in return. One could have simply saved that cash and added on and bought one.

The point at the end of all this is, its very doable, and if it will take you 1 month or 2 months longer than the world firsts then its really not something worth crying about. Anet stated only about 5% of the population should have a legendary, and this system seems to be keeping that in check just fine.

If you think you deserve to be one of those 5% you better go earn it, and just cause someone else got lucky with a forge try doesnt make it the end of the world, it simply makes you jealous.

Some people I know got lucky on the stock market with a pure fluke and got rich, I dont go to wall street demanding money because somebody else got lucky, as you shouldnt demand precursors cause someone got it faster than statistically predicted. Life is tough, and some others got their stuff before you, big deal. Go out and earn it if you want it.

If I needed to I could buy one of the overpriced precursors without a second thought, that is the farthest thing from the issue.

It was “Hundred TO thousands” of items, since I’m quickly approaching 300 80 exotics sucked up by the forge.

No one is asking for free legendaries, they are asking to be able to at least get a hold of a precursor, PRETTY SURE ANET didn’t say “only 5% of the population should have a precursor exotic.” Or did they and I simply missed it? If that’s the case then we were lied to, again.

It doesn’t make me jealous if a person gets it on the first try, it makes me feel abused by the system when I spend X more gold and items for the same item, because of RNG, when X is hundred of gold and items.

Pretty much every person defending the current system seems to either ignore these points or think they don’t exist. It’s humorous that almost every person that’s defending the current system either has a precursor, or legendary already, so “what does it matter” to them if any one else is subjected to an RNG nightmare, or forced to grind hundreds of gold. Who cares that that goes against everything the game was supposedly built on.

Ok so let me get this straight. If it required standard procedure costing around 200-250g to craft one (apart from the random chance) would be much better than paying the price which is ranging from 140-340g on TP?

Cause if you think it should worth less than that you are TRAGICALLY mistaken. It is 1/4th of the weapon. That’s right. Now consider the total cost of the whole process and rethink of what the price for that precursor should be. Some people were lucky in the early stages of the game. Happens with all games. Adapt to it and let it go. This is the proper price of the precursor.

Also for some brain “misguided” people like….(don’t want to even mention his name here but you can find him raging in pretty much all precursor threads) the precursor is 1/4th of the actual weapon:

Gift of Mastery
Gift of Fortune
Gift of “Weapon’s name”
Legendary Precursor

Consider the price of each one.

they dont constitue 1/4. Remember the 3 gifts consist of several other components itself.

Of course it is 1/4th. Exotic precursor + Gift of Mastery + Gift of Fortune + Gift of “Legendary name”. So now check how much each Gift costs (with the exception of Gift of Mastery)….and do the simple math.

Yes but they exist for a special reason. And costing 200+g upwards since they constitute 1/4th of the weapon is reasonable if you consider how much each of the Gifts cost.

If there was a recipe and required you to buy 150g vendor kitten would be ok for you to craft it…but spending 200g on TP isn’t?

The real issue here is that a lot of people were hoping legendaries would involve some sort of challenge, not just a soul sucking grind.

It’s disappointing they took this route.

One of the greatest challenges is to be THAT patient dealing with such a huge amount of things needed to craft one. Apart from that what challenge are you talking about that would detract the rest of the 95% of the population if it was just something very very hard. At some point pretty much everyone would be able to do it.

THAT IS NOT THE POINT of the legendaries. They want them to not be able to be completed by everyone/anyone? So you either introduce an insane luck factor….or huge test of patience. This has both

Assuming that the recipe is as the OP says it is and there’s no easier way to get these clovers, Im all for a change to them.

GW2 is supposedly to be all about breaking out of the traditional MMO mold. Boring long winded repetitive mindless grinds to get a little shiny item that does little to nothing for you isnt the impression I had of GW2 when I heard of it or watched videos about it.

A month and a half for a hardcore gamer, or 6-12 months for a casual gamer for a single shiny item is a bit ridiculous.

Making items insane to get makes the game far less appealing for a casual game player. I’m not saying it should be spoon-fed easy, but that it should be reasonably obtainable. Lets remember we are talking about a single item here. There are several types of weapons and some/many people like/enjoy playing multiple toons (all the way into the meta game). Legendary weapons as they seem to stand arent an option for most people ~ regardless of how long they play or how `loyal` they are, and that detracts from the game only to fuel the ego’s of the overly hardcore elitist players.

I completely disagree. Legendaries are made for the hardcore gamer. They are not addressed for the casual gamer. Casual gamers should try to get one of the rare skined exotics through MF crafting or the corrupted items.

They have the same stats for a reason. If that is your mentality these weapons are NOT for you. They are the PvE end game of GW2.

Even devs claimed that they are addressed to less than 5% of the total population. Why do you think you belong in that category with your mentality?
