There’s a blue skin color. It’s a light, pastel blue.

Their skin options range from white – black, cream – brown, and then there are also some shades of green, two shades of pink, and two shades of blue (if I remember correctly). So yes, blue is in there. Unless you wanted to be like, vivid cobalt or something. :P Just pick your blue tinted skin and dye your armor cobalt. That would look pretty nice.

you have low res textures on, player model depending on your graphics setup can be set to high res while everyone else remains low res

Unfortunately I didn’t have the foresight to remedy that before screen-taking. As far as I know this particular screen is with mid range graphics, though, not turned all the way down.

For the upteenth time, it’s a thread to discuss the attractiveness of canon characters/NPCs, not your player characters. Those screenshots go here or here. (To stipulate: I’m not being frustrated, I’m just trying to be emphatic. )

The question is awkwardly phrased because the OP isn’t actually asking about reproduction, he/she is asking about progeny and nutrition. For all intents and purposes asura are mammals, so the question actually being asked is whether or not baby asura suckle, and if not, how do they obtain their nutrition?

The milk pore theory is pretty interesting, though…

^ Uhh… hm. I can tolerate names that don’t necessarily follow canon (i.e. human names on an asura), but when people go balls out and just name their character something ridiculous that would never be used as a name, I just, ugh, yeah. Personal preference, I know. Sorry! I don’t mean to offend!

Mine are Dinny (note that Y makes a vowel sound here, so it’s considered feminine, even though asura names ending in Y are actually unisex) and Annachponae (a human-given name: he calls himself Annac, though, which is much more fitting for an asura).

Funny you should mention this, I was going to make a technobabble generator based on the rules/conventions of asuran technobabble in Guild Wars canon. If there’s actually some demand for it, I might end up making it after all.

In the meantime, here is a list of the major inventions/innovations of the colleges. You can look to these as examples and maybe even refer to them specifically.

Creations of the College of Statics: positional relays, quasi-enchantment aligners, theosophy scopes, metasurvey incantations, cross-incantation braces, levitation buttresses.

Creations of the College of Dynamics: canoptic enhancers, lunographic fasteners, torque abjurers, enigmaticons, karmic pressure gauges, kinetic spellchurns, magiphysical armatures.

Creations of the College of Synergetics: quantagrams, di-polar spell matrices, conjuration vertices, prestimystic readouts, mojonic control rods, self-restricting enchant loops.

The formula is usually (prefix) (article).

A+: this is really well-done on virtually every account.

I have to say that I really appreciate this sort of fanwork. I don’t know what you’d call it… It’s not like fanfiction, it’s like bits and pieces that are constructed to work within the canon framework. It’s really cool.

Nope, those are just examples. I will do everything from scratch. Especially for the Asuran’s and the Charr requests. I won’t use a base for the commissions.

Definitely NOT the Glyphic Staff (even though that’s what I’m currently using). That thing clips horribly with my left ear.

Mind posting a screen at some stage? I ask because I know some faces align the ears differently, and I’ve noticed clipping on some characters but not others. Also, the longer your ears, the more danger there is of that.

I use a toy staff.

I like the first two the most, third one is pretty good if you like it, fourth one is a “no, don’t do it”.

Wait… have you even played Guild Wars 1? More than half of the asura characters in GW1 had hair. Hell, even the first ever concept art for asura had hair. You’re way off.

Asuras have quite a bit in the way of ear types and skin color/pattern combos, but we definitely need another page’s worth of hairstyles. I’m hoping it comes with future updates.

Like you said, norn/humans have a whole wealth of hairstyles to choose from, charr are very customizable all the way around (although you could still make the argument for more mane styles), and although sylvari have limited hair options too, they have an ENORMOUS spectrum of colors (seriously: go look at it).

Yeah though, I’m sort of sick of female asuras using face 1 with the bun/bao hair style. So much so that I bought a kit to change my hair. We definitely, definitely need more hairs, this repetition is ridic.

Just weighing in really fast: I’ve been having consistently decent drops for about a week now. So, perhaps?

I’ve seen you around before, and although I have money, I haven’t approached you about a commission because your slots are full.

And there are like… a whole crowd of people waiting for your slots to free up, so I don’t think I’ll ever get in there. :P

That’s why I think of the Eternal Alchemy as less than a “religion” and more of a “belief system” — although it features really prominently in asuran society (it permeates their greetings/idioms, it’s a major cornerstone in every single college, etc), it doesn’t involve any kind of worship, and there are no rituals attached to it.

Um, of course they do. In fact, most asura do.

Asuran society is organized around the idea of krewes. Jeff Grubb (the writer responsible for the vast bulk of the lore/worldbuilding in Guild Wars) explained that you’ll have a recruiter who will go out and hire a team of asuras depending on what skills are needed to adequately fulfill the aim(s) of the task or research project. He compared a krewe working to a movie set: a group of people will get together with a common goal, work on it, disassemble and then go their separate ways again. You will want to think of the krewe leader as the director. He/she gives the orders and the rest of the krewe are obligated to fulfill that: it’s both a professional and a social contract in the asuran world.

That’s not to say that all asura take it lying down, so to speak. I don’t think asura necessarily have a problem with authority at all. They have a problem when they disagree with that authority or think their methods are better. I remember in Ghosts of Ascalon there was a krewe tending to the asura gates, but one of the team members had his own ideas about how to align the crystals and frequently (secretly) went against his leader’s orders and did them his own way, effectively endangering anyone who wanted to use the gates.

Too few asura in this thread, Dinny is disappoint.

What culture do you resonate with more? A militaristic, warrior-culture or a disorganized technocracy? I think it’s more enjoyable to play a character you can relate to on some level, so it might be worth thinking about the sort of attitudes and stereotypes attributed to each race.

As much as I love asura and I want many people to love them as I do, I personally think engineer is a better charr profession. The technologies the engineer class use far more resemble charr technology than asura technology. Besides, I have seen so many asuran engineers from the college of dynamics, and I’m starting to think people are really quite unimaginative.

Anyway, yes, it makes your asura bald. It was the only way they could make it without having major clipping issues and problems with the hair. Most “hat” pieces make your character bald anyway.

As for stepping into Tixx’s workshop and being instantly killed by tar elementals… What were you expecting? The game doesn’t surprise you about dungeons and how they work, before you go in, there’s a dialog box that essentially says “Hey, we recommend you come back with four other people.”

Those ugly currency bits the dolls drop are for buying crafting materials and holiday skins, they’re not that useless. It’s still easier to buy the prizes outright from the trading post.

However, all my yelling at you for your baseless whining was pretty much moot: luckily for you, this event literally ends tomorrow.

You guys do know you can turn off the voices in the options, right…? Go to options, sound options, and turn the “dialog” to 0.

You will still hear characters grunt and make effort noises, but you won’t hear shouts (“For Great Justice!”) or one-liners (the things they say when might, vigor, swiftness etc are applied) ever again. Problem solved.

Thank you! Blueberry + Lemon Zest + Antique Bronze look spot-on to me. It’s hard to compare colors because the environment lighting in-game is usually tinted. Standing next to her in the same lighting is probably as good as you’re ever going to get.

Blueberry makes the goggles and arm attachments seem really bright too, which is awesome.

You’re forgetting one thing… In a way, the trinity already exists, but it exists as it should, not like how it does in WoW and other MMOs.

What I’m trying to say is that you, regardless of your class, can give yourself gears, skills and traits to either be supportive (“cleric/healer” class), defensive (“tank”) or offensive (“DPS”). You aren’t pigeonholed into your roles from your character’s conception: you can literally mold them into what role you want them to play and then change it if you decide you want to. That sort of flexibility is great.

The flexibility varies from class to class (e.g. I don’t think a support-oriented thief or a defense-oriented necro are very feasible, for example), but in most cases you have options.
