Seraph - Can we, the players, join?

Why would my charr warrior care about joining the Seraph? Aside from doing so just so he could swagger around Divinity’s Reach, naturally.

Like I said in a previous comment, this idea could be used as a “pilot” idea to see if there is interest. If there is, it could be expanded upon to organisations within the other races of Tyria.

Don’t know how many times I rescued a town that was being ‘protected’ by the Seraph. They all just lay on the ground pretending to be dead until I gave them the heads up the bad guys had gone.
On a serious note it is a possibility but with so much going on would be back burner at best.

True, the NPC Seraph characters do seem a bit hapless at time but PC Seraph characters could do some serious work!

I hope ideas like these don’t become back burner projects. Smaller ideas like this would be a welcome change, in my opinion, from the bombardment of Living Story arcs.

I’ve got to say that I disagree with this post.

I just spent 30 minutes doing Legendary Knight even in the Cursed Shore. Managed to pick up 13 Globs of Ectoplasm from about 5 rares. Considering that Ecto sells @ 30s e/a, there’s an easy 4g.

Ahai, it is great to see some support for this idea.

Regarding opening the other orders for the specific races, that sounds like a wonderful idea. My recommendation would be to use the Seraph as a “pilot” idea and, if it takes off and does well then the system could be implemented into the other organisations.

@Mortifier: The Seraph do more than just stand guard within the city gates of Divinty’s Reach! The fight bandits, centaurs and generally keep the peace!

Good evening.

This is the main body of an e-mail I sent to Guild Wars 2 Support about making the Seraph an organisation that can be joined. I was told to put the suggestion here instead, so here it is. Let me know what you think.

“When I first read the book “Ghosts of Ascalon”, I’ve been in love with the Seraph. Their ideals, their morals, their armour. Everything about the Seraph puts a smile on my face.

As I have been playing, a thought came to me: “Wouldn’t it be great if I could join the Seraph? Wouldn’t it be great if we could fight alongside the men and women in gleaming suits of white armour to protect the city I love?”

So, my question (and the entire point of this e-mail to you today) is this: would ArenaNet consider making the Seraph an organisation that one could join, similar to the Vigil, the Durmand Priory and the Order of Whispers?

There is a slight difference I would like to highlight, however. I would not want the Seraph to be too similar to the three main organisations. I would like this one to be more focused on the plights of the humans as a race, which could come in the form of daily achievements or missions set at random intervals during the day that could be communicated via a city announcer? These are just some ideas that I’ve come up with over the course of the past few weeks so I know they could use some work. Nonetheless, I hope I’ve given the development team something to think about."

One addition – a reward system similar to that of the War Supplies from Guild Wars Beyond (War Supplies) could be implemented to perhaps offer an alternative way of obtaining Cultural Armour.

Thank you for taking the time to read this suggestion & be sure to reply with any additional ideas or opinions on my own.

Best regards,

Donutdude

NOTE: Due to the Suggestions forum being closed, I had no idea where to place this. So if a Moderator deems it prudent to place this elsewhere, I would not mind.

Hiya everyone.

Thought I’d fire up a wee thread for people to post pictures and tell stories about the Battle for Lion’s Arch.

I’ll go first with a small collage of pictures (4 in total) I put together depicting what ArenaNet has done to our beloved trading city.

Enjoy and I look forward to seeing and reading any pictures of stories.

Uninstall GW2
Install GW1
Enjoy a good game after the grind

Haha! I’m a Guild Wars veteran mate. I know all about how awesome it is. However, I find Guild Wars 2 just as friggin’ awesome so I’m here for the long haul!

If you know what build you want I’d recommend getting a full set of level 80 exotic gear. It’s not essential but it’s useful and relatively easy to get. You can craft it, buy it with gold from the TP, buy it with karma from the temples in Orr, with badges in WvW, or any combination of the above. (You can also get it with dungeon tokens but since you asked about dungeons I assume you won’t have any of them yet.)

If you haven’t worked your build out you could still get the gear, but you might end up having to do it all again when you have decided so it might be better to wait.

Other than that I definitely recommend checking out dungeons. The actual game-play is like normal PvE, but with a small, coordinated (hopefully) group. They do reward unique skins as well – you can see them at the vendors in Fort Marriner in LA. You’ll need to do multiple runs to have enough tokens to buy anything, but if you like doing dungeons it’s not bad and you get good gold as well.

I’d also recommend checking out WvW if you haven’t already. I kept putting it off because I’m mainly a PvE player but when I did start I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for the detailed feedback. To tell you the truth, I’d completely forgotten about WvWvW. I enjoyed it a helluva lot during beta but I was put off by the level/gear requirements. Now that I’m in 80 in decent gear (got my exotic set + weapons sorted btw ;D), I’m willing to give it a crack indeed.

Good afternoon Tyrians.

As the title says, I’ve just hit L80 on my first character, a Guardian (yay!) and I’m now looking for some advice on what is available here at end-game.

I plan to go for my first legendary weapon and I’ve already research everything I need (the list is long!) so, whilst I’m fulfilling the requirements for it, what else can I do? What are the dungeons like? Are there any that offer wicked looking equipment (I’m a mug for anything flashy-looking!) Also, are there any active guilds on the Far Shiverpeaks server? I’m in desperate need of a fun-loving, well-rounded guild!

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

With regards,

Guild Wars 2 Heroic Edition Upgrade

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Donutdude.9582

Donutdude.9582

Good evening everyone.

I have a little gripe with the new Heroic Edition that was released. The upgrades in it are relatively lovely, however none of them were included in the CE pack. In addition, I noticed that the Deluxe Edition has also had these items added to it, yet the price (as far as I’m aware at least) hasn’t changed for it.

Now, perhaps I’m acting a little too entitled here but surely the players that splashed £130 on this game should have access to those too?

Feel free to leave your thoughts about this. If an ArenaNet staff member could find the time to explain why this is the way it is, I’d appreciate it.

Before I close this post out, I simply want to clarify one thing: I’m not begging or demanding anything in this post. I simply want to know why these items weren’t included in the digital side of the CE. Also, I tried searching for this or something similar but came up empty.

Regards,

You shouldn’t be scared to upgrade to a new operating system. I do however understand why you wouldn’t want to pay for an operating system. The last operating system I purchased was Windows XP, everything else I have gotten free from being a student. While XP was awesome for its day, 7 is the superior system for sure now. Do you at least run 64bit XP? D=

Nope! Still a 32bit user, whoop! :P

From a performance and security standpoint it would be better to upgrade. The other thing is, MS stopped supporting that OS which means it won’t be getting any new updates.
Look at it as an investment. One time pay, and you’re good for 10 years :P

I s’pose you’re right. Might pick up 7 at some point but not for now – after spending £200 on my GTX 660 and a 650w modular PSU, my GF is about ready to dine on my nuts! ! ! :P

I’m one of those old fashioned players that is fatally scared of upgrading to any new OS. That and I refuse to pay the prices Microsoft charge for 7/8 :P Believe it or not, XP has been my most stable OS since my old 98 SE days so I thought “why try to fix something that isn’t broken?” ^^

My GW2 gamer type: Slow and Steady.

I’m the type of player that enjoys every aspect of the world whilst leveling. From the astounding combat visuals to the hilarious charr cub conversations, I basque in the brilliance that is Guild Wars 2 in every way I possibly can.

My eventual goal is attaining level 80 and my first legendary weapon. But, until then, I’ll continue to enjoy this beautiful game.

Good afternoon ArenaNet & fellow Tyrian players. I trust I find you all well!

I’ve recently decided to upgrade my graphics card to an Nvidia Gefore GTX 660 due to finally getting tired of my archaic 8500 GT 1Gb.

Up until now, I’ve been reluctant to play GW2 due to insanely poor graphics brought about by my poor GPU. Heck, I still preferred GW because I could run that at maximum and it looked much prettier than GW2 on low graphics. Now, however, that is all changed!

I can finally enjoy GW2 at high resolution graphics and, now that I can truly see how absolutely stunning this game really is, I simply wanted to shout out a big “thank you” to the entirety of ArenaNet for developing and delivering such a wonderful game. I’ll certainly be making full use of my £130 I spent on this game now!

Thanks for reading if you decided to!

Yo folks, thought I’d give you all a wee update.

I decided to go balls deep and grab a GTX 660. I’ve also decided to grab a modular 650w PSU to upgrade my archaic 405w in preparation for the new card. Should be getting everything by next Wednesday with any luck! Will let you all know how it goes!

Once again, thanks for all of your responses! You were all a great help.

Woot, great responses.

My CPU upgrade really was an big upgrade from my previous dual-core 3.0Ghz. When you have a girlfriend & a motorcycle, upgrading your PC becomes a LOT more difficult!

I’m quite surprised that I can pick up such powerful cards for those kinds of prices. Thanks for the input everyone, I very much appreciate it. Let’s hope my CPU doesn’t bottleneck too much!

Afternoon all.

I’ve not-so-recently-now upgraded my CPU to an Athlon64 Quad Core @ 3.0Ghz and increased my RAM to 4Gb. I’m now lookin’ for a good graphics card that’ll allow me to run GW2 @ medium graphics without the CPU bottle-necking it.

Any recommendations? Something in the £150-£200 price bracket would be ideal.

Looking forward to reading your suggestions!

Returning player! What've I missed?

Donutdude.9582

Good morning everyone!

I’ve decided to give Guild Wars 2 another try. I quit due to lack of interest and pitiful graphics (due to my PC specifications, not due to GW2 being ugly!) but I’ve since decided quitting for the 2nd reason was a pretty lame excuse. As for lack of interest, I think it was more me being lazy!

So, after listening to my GW2 albums for a while (curse you Jeremy Soule for making such kitten music!), I’ve decided to come back to the beautiful world of Tyria!

So, what have I missed? I quit around about the time Flame & Frost was still in its first stage.

Returning to Guild Wars 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Donutdude.9582

Good evening fellow Tyrians.

After being thoroughly disappointed with Guild Wars 2, what with the grind and everything (yes, I believe there is a grind), I’ve decided to return and give Guild Wars 2 a second chance. I did spend £129.99 on the game after all.

So, I’d like your opinions on what to do to take away the grind to level 80. I’m not interested in levelling quickly at all, however I’m unsure what is available to me besides exploring and levelling. What is the crafting system like? Are there any mini-games for me to enjoy?

Share your thoughts on this and help a fellow player enjoy Guild Wars 2 to the fullest extent.

Thank you in advance and I’ll keep an eye on this thread.

Regards,

Donutdude

P.S: As an afterthought, I think I should tell you all that I intend to completely re-roll so please try your best to treat this like a “new GW2 player” thread so I can get the best possible feedback. Thanks again.

P.P.S: I transferred from Ring of Fire to Far Shiverpeaks. Hopefully will see you there.

The event is disappointing. I logged in after not logging in for approx. a month and I find all of these strange noises and big “BAM” and “POW” messages popping up all the time in Lion’s Arch. It all seems very botched and far too stupid compared to the enjoyable Costume Brawl PvP in GW1.

In addition, I much prefer GW1 for the decorations. I don’t know, maybe it’s just my PC not being able to run anything better than low for everything, but I’m just even more disappointed by GW2.

I might as well simply uninstall GW2 since I never play anymore. But hey, it’s not like ANet or anybody else will give a monkey’s – least they got my money, /sigh.

Well, whatever I guess. Read & laugh & say how much I suck … ‘cos I’m just passed caring now. It’s the biggest waste of £130 I’ve ever spent. I’ll quite happily stay in GW1 ’til the eventual closing of it.

Peace.

Thoughts on Guild Wars 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Donutdude.9582

Good morning everyone.

I’ve been finding it a real struggle to log into Guild Wars 2 recently. Why? Well, the game was advertised as being anti-grind, which to a certain extent it is. However, I’ve found that as you rise in level, you’re essentially following the same pattern over and over:

- Move to Area A.
- Complete all Renown Hearts, find all Points of Interest, basically 100% the area.
- Grind events to compliment your EXP and Karma
- Move onto Area B, repeat.

I find this to be incredibly grindy and pretty boring to be honest, considering that all of this has to be done to stand any chance of completing the only interesting thing about GW2’s PvE atm – Personal Story. I mean heck, I’m STILL enjoying the original Guild Wars’ PvE more atm, and I’ve been playing that for 4 years. And no, I’m still not enjoying dungeons – I just cannot get my head around the fact that you are forced to dodge away continuously unless you’ve got any kind of range.

Now, the PvP in GW2 … again, I still prefer GW1 for its PvP. Sure, the unique combo-ing in GW2 is amazing, no doubt. Nevertheless, there just seems to be a little too much Group vs Group zerg instead of objective taking half of the time (I’m talking about sPvP here). Not to mention the combat is a little TOO fast-paced at times – it feels like I have to simply button mash sometimes…

On the whole, I’m very disappointed with how GW2 has turned out. The anti-grind that was advertised in this game is still there, hidden in Hearts and equipment – reminds of me grinding endlessly in Grind of the North :-(

Feel free to post your opinions people, just don’t insult or flame me for having my own.

Elementalist being killed in 1-2 hits

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Donutdude.9582

Donutdude.9582

Hiya Lockey.

Elementalists are best suited to long-range attack and support spells during boss fights. The reason you’re dying in 1-2 hits is because you’re probably not casting from maximum range. Also, it sounds like your not managing your attunements all that well (no insult intended.) An elementalist has a vast skill pool upon which they can call as and when they feel like, however it needs to be properly managed via attunement switching.

Some advice for boss fights: utilise the heavy AoE abilities of a Fire-attuned Staff Elementalist whilst switching to Water Attunement for those nice AoE healing spells. That should a.) allow you to contribute significantly based on damage and b.) provide excellent support to your allies and keep them in the fight for longer.

I hope this helped. Good luck out there.
