Well see the account doesn’t have any way to know the key you are getting is a pre purchase you are just getting a retail box key and applying that to the existing account so like I said you should be golden
Actually Albee I bet it’s the overclocking during the beta weekends they had a known problem with factory overclocked Nvidia cards, if the clock speeds were REDUCED to the Nvidia Factory Default speeds the problems cleared up.
Looked it up the factory speeds are:
Core: 633MHz stock
Memory: 1134MHz stock
Shader: 1404MHz stock
Try using one of the available tools out there to set your speeds down to those and see what happens.

If you’ve looked around you’ll see that most likely you’ve been banned because they suspect your account is compromised. Take a look at the security tab under my account, does it show any log ins from some strange place that are not you? If yes they banned the account to stop a hacker from screwing you over. If no, try to log into the game and post what the message says. If it’s the generic one it’s still likely it was because they thought you’d been compromised.
EDIT: And btw I can save you some time they are a few days behind on support tickets, so throwing an ultimatum out like a 5 year old saying they will take their ball and go home if someone doesn’t stop something, won’t get you an answer within 24 hours.

It seems racial slurs is a 14 day suspension not the 3 day that you get for just cussing people out in chat or having suggestive names
EDIT: Which is actually kinda lenient back in the day EQ if you used a racial slur just once in chat or name a character something that was racial slurs or racial hate motivated it was an instant perm. ban as soon as SOE was made aware of it
well one possibility although it’s usually the least likely is they simply had your email on a list from other games/gaming websites and they brute forced the password
It said very clearly from the first day the info was available that the banker was a 5 day item. It’s the reason I didn’t bother with either the CE or the DDE for this game.
well that isn’t the right attitude because if ANet realises you are hacked they will ban the account to keep the hacker off until you can get it sorted out
In essence you’re saying if ANet realises I’m hacked and bans the account so the hacker doesn’t buy 5000 dollars worth of gems using my CC I’m just not going to play because they banned me for nothing! When in reality they banned you to keep what you are worried about happening from happening (assuming they notice and do ban the account)

The CE key is a CE key so you should be fine. If this works like every other MMO the preorder/prepurchase key doesn’t matter you could of prepurchased a CE then gotten a refund and applied a regular key and the account would work you’d just lose the CE items.

I don’t think they will need a code because the other GW2 account is a preorder account as long as you know the information on it and the linked GW1 info I don’t think they’d have a problem
EDIT: But if you still have the preorder receipt the code will be on it
Did you use the same username/password as you did in other games or on other websites? If so that is probably it. If not did you click any links in any emails? Possibly were phished if so..finally while I know people don’t think about it did you share the username/password with anyone? And even if not now is it one you’ve used for years that an ex might know and mess with you just because etc?
First off a BBB rating means nothing Blizzard had an F for years because of the mass banning of cheaters in D2. Secondly they are working through help tickets as fast as they can. In fact they are about 2 days behind because of the sheer volume of various tickets they are getting. So saying they are doing nothing the player base can see is totally false.

Ahh ok I see now you used the CD Key on the PreOrder account vs the PrePurchase account because you got the emails mixed up
Do you know for a fact they removed it? Because a lot of people are having issues it seems with money vanishing
the drops are random he’s not getting drops that are better just because he has the deluxe edition. As for the auto loot thing that’s a bug on your end because that happens in the plain jane standard edition as well so your not seeing it is a bug.
Just look at the security tab under My Account on this website if someone logged in at a time you don’t remember logging in from an ip that isn’t yours then yes you need to change your info. In fact the FIRST thing to do when you think you’ve been hacked is change the password from a known secure computer while scanning yours for viruses and keyloggers.
If you don’t see unusual log ins though I’d say it was a bug.

Ok I’m a bit confused. Unless you used the key from the box you picked up at the store already you are fine just use the key from the retail box with the account information of the account you want to keep.
It would be more appropriate in Account Issues if you felt you had to post the question on the support forums as it isn’t really a Technical eg hardware, driver etc type question.
Trying to remember the name…ambient occlusion? I think that’s what it’s called try changing that and see what happens
Also when you installed did you do the clean install option?
Edit: Also I have no idea if ambient occlusion will help just seem to remember some people saying they changed that and it helped with the issues they were having.

Large events and WvW are between 15-20 fps “most” of the time. This to me is unacceptable. Settings have very little impact on the FPS during said events. I can go all low or all high and it is single digit difference.
I know that not everything can be pegged on the game, but when Anet is on here admitting that there are issues and asking us for extra information to help track things down… People need to stay open minded and back off a bit.

Just a question have you tried dropping the CPU back to stock speed? I remember in the beta weekends they were having problems with overclocked video cards and I think maybe overclocked cpus too.
Keep in mind I’m only suggesting it as a test to see what happens
Well not sure the legality of it but I suppose you could sell the keys on ebay instead of doing a dispute. Right now the CS is totally slammed and a few days behind on things. If you can’t wait for CS to contact you then your only option is to dispute or perhaps sell the keys to friends that have not purchased yet but plan to etc
@DABhand yes I know that’s why I thought it was strange but I swore I’d read that the system was doing that…maybe that was before they got the problems with the email verification system worked out
I went and checked and back on Aug 18 when I changed my email the confirmation email was sent to the NEW address and a notification email about the change was sent to the old address

Oh! but there is one more thing did he have a GW1 account that he linked to the GW2 account?

when he changed it to his own email he should have gotten a confirmation email sent to his email make sure he checks his junk and spam folders for that email.

I’m not going to argue I am well aware of how things get hacked. I’m also aware that ANet has to tell us if they had a security breach. ANet has stated HOW these accounts are being hacked. I’ve added other possible ways that I know of where people have been hacked. You are spreading misinformation trying to say ANet has had a breach and I’m trying to make sure people know this isn’t the case.

It’s not a made up argument ANet has to tell us if they have had a breach they have not. They have however determined that people are being hacked because of what I said. In fact two of the three I was hacked threads I read on Guru point blank stated they used the same email and password for multiple GW2 fansites as they used in the game or used them in previous games.
If the people are using unique ones for GW2 then I’d say they have a keylogger most likley or and I say this having been in CS for one of the earliest MMOs. They gave someone access to their account that had a compromised system.
The last possibility is simply they tried to buy gold, power leveling etc, or they went to a hacks/cheats site and got infected or they were phished.

A few of my friends bought the game from this website (GW2 main site) and have been hacked due to your database compromise. How do they get the account back if they don’t know their key? Do they use the credit/debit card number they used to buy it with?
Just what database compromise do you think ANet had? THEY didn’t have one. The hacked accounts are people using the SAME username/password on multiple games and fan sites. It’s the OTHER games and fansites that have been compromised.
Happend to me yesterday aswell , dont know what that company is doing but it gets my patience off .
They ban people for nothing after they paid 50 E for game – then we are useless ?Pretty Much
They are not banning you for nothing you just admitted that you have 6 pages of logins from CHINA. I have not tried it so can’t say a failed login attempt shows in security but all I see are actual logins from me on my page. If you have actually had someone from China log in then you are compromised and you need to follow the hacked accounts post to get the account back.
You of course would also need to make sure you don’t have a key logger and change the password on your email account to be safe, as well as changing the email/password on the GW2 account (which you may have to do during the recovery process)
They don’t have a date they stated in the update this morning they are still working on the problem of missing tournament rewards.

My guess is it’s things that were used for data gathering in the beta that are no longer used. As for why not trimming it it may require the redownload of several large files and they don’t want to make you wait that long.
Turn on VSync and see if it helps also while I don’t know if they had an issue with ATI cards factory Overclocked Nvidia cards had issues in the beta events that non factory overclocked cards did not have. Reducing the clock rate to the Nvidia specified default rate made the factory OC cards not have the problems so might try that.

Only thing I can suggest is either to wait it out then or submit a second ticket following the hacked account prioritizing steps because they claim they are prioritizing hacked accounts and other account login blocking issues and this is certainly an account login blocking issue.
The problem is IMO everyone wants to play EB I que for all 4 maps at a time and never wait too long to get into a map. Once in I can jump between the maps using the waypoints without it putting me in a que.
EDIT: I’m not sure if this is a bug or intended so if it’s a bug/exploit please don’t bash me in the head with the ban hammer as I assume it’s supposed to work this way :P

If you used a hotmail account there was a known problem with hotmail blacklisting Anet so you wouldn’t of even gotten the confirmation email. Try, and I have no idea if this will work, to log in here with the account name/password you were trying to create. If it lets you change the email/username to a different email if you have access to one and see if it then sends the mail and allows the account to work to log in to the game.

Just a quick tip to help protect yourself from hackers. Create a brand new email address with a strong password (preferably a password you don’t use for anything else) and use that to login to the game with.
Use the address ONLY for GW2 and don’t share it with anyone.
Your level of protection has now increased significantly.

10 years of playing MMO’s your the first I’ve been hacked in… Same email for all that time. Don’t take the easy way out, you should have helped us and took care of us like you did in GW1
If you played wow and used this email guess what…Blizzard was hacked and they got the emails and possibly passwords. If you used the same password too there’s your problem.
I’m not saying this is what happened to you but I have seen others complaining they used the same email and password on multiple games and fansites as they used to log in to GW2 then act like it’s ANet’s fault they were hacked. Most people don’t want to accept responsibility for their own failures these days.

I have a suggestion. Try taking the defective one to a local Gamestop if you have one. Show them the problem and ask if they will let you buy a copy from them then return the defective one to them for a refund. They may not but you might get one with a cool manager that will help you out.
Other than that I’d say the emails are your only hope unless you can convince the store manager of the Target to exchange it.
Guys keep in mind the HOM Calculator will show ANY valid guild wars 1 character name with at LEAST 3 points. The calculator ASSUMES you’ve properly linked the accounts. If they are properly linked you will log in to both of them using the SAME information if you use different information they are not properly linked.
So make sure you go to My Account and click link accounts and link them.
I will ask a friend who doesn’t have GW 1 and see if he’s able to get the stone and interact with the vendor. If so it may be a case of you just not linking accounts.
