I spec for glass cannon and use D/D. Lightening whip and the fire tree can burn those crowds down fast. You just need to be on your A game for dodging

The game doesn’t add the +5% crit chance from the sigil. I have no idea how he managed the 103% crit damage though.

We do have some improvements in mind for the elementalist’s main-hand dagger, along with reworking the downed state a bit. Keep in mind that you might not see this for a bit, but it is in the works.

First off, I don’t whine…I troll.
Second, I fought my kitten off in garrison thursday night. We had FA on the north east door and BG on the north west door the entire time. Both sides pushed into the inner keep 4+ times and each time we beat them back. I don’t know about the rest of the nancy boys on DB but my guildies and I fought hard until 10pm PST. The only reason we stopped was because sleep for work > game.

I rarely use fire 2, Fire 5 pisses me off with how much it misses. I only use ice2 to heal myself.

sure it does, if he uses runes that add more crit damage. I run runes of scholar, he could be running runes of divinity. 6-8k more damage for my build is just a rune runestone swaps away.

Stack power, percision, crit damage. Eat crit damage/perc food.
I have 3400ish attack and 61% to crit. I also have a sigil that has a 30% chance to proc and AOE on crit.
Were you upscaled? I smash level 80s for 4kish non crit and 5-6k crit. Upscales I do a crap load more to.

Be D/D. RTL→ lightning 2 → updraft → Switch to fire attunment → burning speed → ring of fire → fire grab → Arcana wave → switch to earth attunment → earth 2 → earth 4 →earth 5. Rinse, repeat.
I usally don’t pop arcana wave unless I’m in myst form waiting for my heal button to come back.
For Staff I keep the same build but switch cantrips to mist form, cleansing fire, fire signet.

I still don’t understand why people believe Ele’s are so underpowered. For once the mage class isn’t over OP and people go nuts over it. They are a little bugged yes but so are other classes. It for chain and stack right you’ll be just fine. Let’s not forget there is a dodge in this game too don’t just stand and try and smack things….dodge spells for a reason! They are great team/party players with pretty nifty heals. Just play around with different spells and find what works best for you. Try and unlock all the spells for all the sets and you’ll have a good time.

Elementalists are hard to master, most consider them broken. They don’t do a ton of burst for how squishy they are. Thiefs on the other hand do a crap load of burst for their squishyness.

I consistently hit 10k with churning. It’s not hard with full crit gear.
I use combos, and understand how they work. That does not stop people from moving out of the skill, or just using a KB on you. You also factor in that in WvWvW not all fights are 1on1 so others can come up and stop you as well. I do agree that most the time I see ele’s they are just standing there casting one spell not even moving, but that doesn’t negate the fact that we cant take any damage, and our big skills are easily avoided.
As far as Spvp it really is a waste of time as a ele unless you have a good group, and even then you are going to be more support then the real fighting force.
I stack power, crit, and crit damage. All exotics + crit food/crit damage food. I also use combos and understand how they work. I still only break 9K damage with CE on upscaled players or 80s in the downed state. Now fire grab I can crit an 80 player for 10-15k. I suppose if you’re fire/lightning/earth specced a 10k hit with CE on an 80 not in the downed state might happen.
I used SPVP to fine tune my rotation. I gank groups of 2-4ppl in SPVP the same way I do in WvW.

It’s cool, I made my riches off runes of undead, runes of the pirate, runes of the scholar, and runes of the mesmer before the market crash. I’m curious is arena net is going to give us a stimulus package….
But a crystal lodestone sells for 1g 30ish silver. Rune of the mesmer’s have been flooded on the trading post and now sell for 1G 15silver. Goss + lodestone = 1g 37ish silver to make, then you resell it at 1G 15silver – auction house fees? That just confuses the crap out of me.
What I don’t understand is how rune of the mesmer and rune of the scholar are now worth less than the mats used to create them?

If a target is low I’ll RTL to them, cast lightning 2, then finish them off with LW. That’s about the only time outside of PVE when I use it.
But wouldn’t it be cool if we could run at 60% run speed without swiftness?

Yea but if it’s more than one targe tI’m not going to sit there and just spam LW. I’m going to switch to fire, burning speed, ring of fire, flame burst, drakes breath, switch to earth and continue the rain down of pain.
I also noticed it misses a lot when stationary
LW double hits for 2k a pop on a target, so 4k total. Dragon’s claw, each “slice” hits for 2k, so 6k total. Fire 1 is not obsolete.
Oh, I love LW, i hits for 1500 and 2500 crit
The idea is to kill them before you need to dodge.

I found waiting for S/D 2/3 to hit takes forever in pvp.
I have full berserkers with only 12k hp. I can kill DOT elementalists with just fire and lightning. RTL hits for 2k non crit, 4k crit. burning speed hits for 2kish non crit, 5k crit. Ring of fire is 2k non crit, 4k crit, fire grab is 4k non crit, 8k-15k crit. I can push that out in about 5 seconds.
I have 61% chance to crit with 89% crit damage.
Unless it’s completely flat terrain, i always get hung up. Weird thing is, if i just RTL to travel faster, i never get hung up. It’s always when I have someone targeted and RTL to them.
I enjoy D/D more than staff or scepter. However, while it looked like you could take a beating, you weren’t hitting those upscales for very much. I choose the glass cannon D/D build and I have yet to go 1v1 with another Ele and lose.
I laughed when people said D/D has the worse AoE.
It actually has the best, since its far more instant and deals more damage (total).
Lets look;
Drakes Breath – decent damage + burning AoE… amazing.
Burning Speed – AoE blast + short wall of Fire – amazing
Ring of Fire – AoE blast + wall of burning – amazing
Fire Grab – Small cone of high damage vs burning (see Drakes breath) – amazing.What does S/ bring? long animations for slightly less damage.
Yes the ele needs a bit, but just a few bug fixes and a few traits re-worked and we’ll be fine.
Burning speed also causes burning. My rotation is RTL->Lightning skill 2->updraft->switch to fire->burning speed->ring of fire->fire grab->arcana wave if they are still alive after that I follow up with switch to earth->earth 4->earth2->earth 3->earth 5. If they are STILL alive after that then I reroll thief and delete my elementalist.
FYI, updraft throws you back the perfect distance from your target so when you hit burning speed, they are right in the damage sweet spot of it.
