Did you play an elementalist in beta? We were WTF awesome. Mist form removed debuffs, lasted 5 seconds. If you stacked condition damage + power you could DOT people to death, easily. Basically, I feel thiefs were hardcore buffed and elementalists were slapped with the nerf bat. During beta, theifs were kitten and elementalists were strong as hell, now it’s reverse.

You can tell they didn’t take balance into account when designing the downed skills. Mesmer/Thief = OP downs skills. Elementalists are a god kitten kittening joke in the downed state.

One of the most annoying things in WvW is trying to intercept/open with Ride the lightning and having it stop short of the target and just sit there. It’s like the awkward pause when you fart while publically speaking. That and it screws up my whole rotation of pain toward my target.

Lastnight, in FA’s borderlands, we took hill with 0 people protecting it. I think one person showed up to protect it? This was at 9PM PST.

I was also supprised that right the lightning and mist form didn’t ignore fall damage. I mean… you’re a ball of kittening light or a ball of mist!! As for teleport, I’ve yet to meet a 900 i’d rather not just jump off of.

I would have gusted you off the cliff then ROFLed.

Two spells for elementalist kitten me off. D/D earth 5 (cast timer is stupid long) and Fire 5 (that fricken spell’s cast timer causes me to miss it hitting soooo much)

I see little crit numbers flying around and the only upside is 3k more health than me. I’m on DB and would love to see who’s dagger/dagger build would win.

Dragonbrand perspective

Maaguuma (or whateve it’s called) and Tarnished Coast were too easy. Jade Quarry’s night crew ROFL stomped us. This current match up seems fairly even.

4. Invest in condition damage, this is probably what will damage your enemies most and make you the most deadly. Since earth and fire have the easiest time putting on conditions, this will help you a LOT.

I disagree, leave condition damage to engineers and necros.

It’s from Arah. And no, almost all other cloth armor sucks except for COF imo.

And if specced/geared/played well all other classes shine even more than us…

I think this is the argument a lot of people have. An Ele can shine and do well in various ways, but other classes often do it better and easier.

I agree but if you can shine with an ele now, once they fix them, you’ll kick butt.

I don’t use water but I do use arcana for the vigor/arcana shield/increased staff AOE size. Besides, if you can master a broken class, once they fix it, you will be god-like.

I find the 25/25/0/0/20 spec + power/crit/precision gear to be very good glass cannon build. I also have 6 runes of scholar and use +100percision +10% crit damage food. Why I only have 13k HP, I fit like a f-en freight train. Only class I can’t pwn 1 vs 1 with D/D are good thiefs. For keep defense I sport staff and rain hell from above.

Grats Eicherjw, you are a glass cannon who managed a big crit on a very debuffed target, but guess what? Other classes have done a lot more than that, and they can do it way more often than Fire Grab which has a 45 sec cooldown by default.

The only thing elementalist is really good at (compared to others) is healing (if done right), and this in a game where they are trying to remove the healers. Yay!

Not true, why I die when a stiff breeze rolls through WvW, I can still hold my own. I got a 12k crit on a thief lastnight that was not scaled. When I go staff for keep defense I can auto attack crit for 3k-4k on true level 80s. This class requires a lot of gear and spec to show results. While I do agree our timers are a bit crazy, I feel our class can shine if speced, geared, and played well.

Eddard, if you go buy a gaming mouse, I suggest the Logitech G700 for three reasons.
1.) It’s on sale for $59.99 at Best Buy (hopefully it still is) so it’s not overly expensive.
2.) Logitech is a great brand for keyboards/mice, you’re not buying crap
3.) The button layout is PERFECT for the Ele. There are 4 buttons on the side (for your thumb), one for each attunement. 3 buttons on top (one for each utility skill), and click the mousewheel for healing. I then bind my elite to the keyboard (‘R’ specifically).

Going with a Razor Naga, or something like that is going to cost you more, and you’ll likely find that having 12 buttons on the side for your thumb is supreme overkill for this game (they’re harder to hit ‘cause they’re smaller, there are 12 of them). This is, of course, unless you play other games and want a 20 button mouse (to each his own…).

I love logitech stuff. I have a G15 keyboard (that I don’t really use for this game) and a performance mouse. I’ve always bought logitech for gaming and only once have I had a mouse of theirs fail due to manufacturer error. All other mouse failures have been due to unexpected flights across my room from a lack of anger managment.

All attunments are bound to the D-pad. Heal is on the orange button, mist form on the thumb putton next to D-pad. Arcane blast is bound to G2 and whatever cantrip I decide is bound to G4.

1-5 is bound to this mouse. 1&2 are the two big side buttons, 3 is the small side button, 4 is the mouse wheel to the left and right, 5 is the thumb button.

I have a screen shot from WvW pvp where my fire grab crit a player for 15k+. I’ll post it when I get home.

The LW update actually made me happy….but then again my LW hits for 1500 – 2500 a pop.
