This build is quite nice! The expensiveness of the Seaweed might be a deterrent to newer players, but it works well without it too!

Time required to get The Ascension?

Not via the current method. You won’t be able to get enough division crossings in one season, even if you manage everything else.

You can get all the division crossings within a season. It’s just very diffiicult as you need to progress to legendary and then complete the legendary division several times.

The only thing that limits players are the daily achievements which is 60 days in total.

And if I fail that?…I’m just SOL?

Because of various circumstances going on in my life, I have not been able to play consistently the past couple months. If I am able to start playing consistently, however, at the end of August, is it still realistically possible for me to get the legendary backpiece? It looks amazing and I’ll be very upset with myself if I started the work on it and was unable to finish…thank you in advance for your help…

Elementalist World Completion

So, I am planning on creating updated guides for “World Completion” builds, as I get requests for that quite often, and I have largely outdated information. Since there is no “best build”, I figured I would get input from the community, and see what everyone’s favorites are, so that I might test some of them out to see which one, statistically speaking (as best as I can test) would work for a world completion build. So I come to you now!

Two things you need to keep in mind when submitting your ideas:

1. Builds will often change depending on location on the map. I have found (personally) that I prefer a staff while in Orr, along with Diamond Skin so that the debuffs don’t slow me down. Things like this are pieces of information you may want to keep in your answer.

2. Be sure to include your specialties, healing, elite, utilities, etc. in your build along with your weapons. These heavily affect the way that the build would perform. DO NOT however include the “stats” that go with your build, i.e. power/ferocity/precision, and other things like that. The build should work WITHOUT people having to create specific stat builds, as players are more focused on world completion obviously if they’re reading this guide as opposed to making money to gear up.

Feel free to improve and offer constructive criticism on other people’s ideas. DO NOT however, tear people apart, telling them they’re wrong, among other things. Keep it friendly, keep open minded, and be smart about it. A lot of this is up to opinion, so instead of telling other people why their opinions are “wrong”, tell other people what YOUR reasons are for enjoying a specific style of play. I really enjoy doing community guides and making efforts to help others understand different ways of playing the game, so I try to make many of these and keep them up to date. So I thank you in advance, if you choose to help me out!

GW2 does have a folder, should be in C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x86) if you used the default install path

I used the default install path, but there is no Guild Wars 2 folder.. :/

"Damage Stacking?"

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Elarionus.3246

Elarionus.3246

I’ve noticed two separate cases of what I call “damage stacking” in the game so far. Both the flamethrowers at the Jormag fight with [Flame Jet] and the Elementalist’s Sceptre [Air 1] skill appear to have their damage “stacking.” When the skill refreshes and begins again, the numbers climb higher and higher…this leads to damage markers over 200,000 when fighting Jormag with the flamethrower…are these numbers accurate? Or is it just a glitch, and am I really doing far less damage? I’m curious if I should just be using my regular skills instead of this…Thanks in advance!

Right now, after pre ordering the Heart of Thorns downloadable content, a new slots has appeared in my list of characters labeled “Beta.” If I make a character within that slot during this time, I’m guessing I’ll lose both the character and the slot later, as I did not buy GW2 itself until May 24. Is this true?

Having fun while improving?

Elarionus.3246

I just hit 80 today, and so many questions have come to mind, and at the foremost, is how do I get that pretty purple rainbow gear…the Legendary.

After asking around, many have told me that the best way is to just play the game to have fun and then after a while, I’ll naturally accumulate most of the resources I’ll need…this sounds like a solid plan. However, what all is there to do? That’s the hardest part of this game. It is so feature rich, that I don’t even know where to start. I don’t know what all I unlocked by becoming 80 or anything.

On a side note, what should I do at this point now that I am 80? I bought a full set of exotics, promptly wasted all my Ascalonian Tears on the wrong staff (but I’ll deal with it for now). What else do I need to do? What should I be doing daily? Thanks in advance for your responses!

Best use for Forward/Back buttons on mouse?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Elarionus.3246

Elarionus.3246

Dodge is definitely a good idea. If you can do it, you can bind the other key to Shift. By binding Shift there, you can use mouse button + number to use your profession skills. For example, you press your mouse button and 1 to attune to fire on an ele.

I wasn’t able to do that, but I did bind dodge, and you’re right, it’s amazing! I bound the other to jump, and my mouse wheel to weapon swap, and it’s great! I’m able to move and collect vistas and waypoints with only my mouse!

Best use for Forward/Back buttons on mouse?

I have a mouse that happens to have both a forward and a back button on the mouse. What is the best thing I could keybind them for? I toyed with the idea of both weapon swapping and dodging, but those are both already fairly close to the hands…any other idea?

Preview Skill Animations

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Elarionus.3246

Elarionus.3246

Hello! I was wondering if anyone knew of a place I could preview skill animations. For instance, I recently created a human female because I heard that the animations for a thief were VERY good as a human female (though I do feel very strange about rolling a female, even though it’s not for sexual reasons >_>).

As I was walking around the human starting zone, I saw an elementalist human female, the animations of which looked positively awful compared to the animations of my Asura elementalist. I don’t want to create a character and find out in a couple hours that I wasted the entire day on a character that I can’t stand to watch cast spells or use abilities. Is there a place where I can preview the animations? I already tried youtube, and they failed me…unless someone has VERY good videos in mind. I’m trying to balance the replayability with how much I enjoy watching my character. I don’t like that you can’t see transmutations on an Asura…but what if Asura has the best animations when I create my necromancer? Do I take the mediocre storyline and the fact that nobody can see my cool armor/weapons in exchange for better animations? I’d never know, because there’s no way for me to preview the animations…that I know of anyway….

Purpose of skins for daggers/Foci?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Elarionus.3246

Elarionus.3246

Given the acrobatics of an asura, you wanna pick a with some form of lighting or particle effect. Granted this on the extreme expensive side, but Incinerators on a asuran thief is nothing short of mesmerizing to watch in action.

You are right! It’s beautiful! Now, my question, why not just use the actual incinerators? And if I want to use multiple daggers, do I need multiple transmuting points for each? Or if I transmute the slot, does it stay what way?

My life as a GW2 Altoholic

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Elarionus.3246

Elarionus.3246

Yeah….it doesn’t really matter what game I play. You can see it when you look at my character select screen….my usernames….even when you look into my eyes…I am….an altoholic.

There is no escape. I have to do it. Just play elementalist? What if I like necromancer better? What if I get bored if I don’t have a warrior? Must. Have. Them. ALL.

Seriously though, how can an altoholic like me enjoy this game? It’s big, and it’s challenging to do everything all over the place with multiple characters.

Game is MASSIVE!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Elarionus.3246

Elarionus.3246

Here I am, with only a few hours of gameplay on Guild Wars 2. 58 elementalist, 2 other characters under 20, and an extraordinary feeling that I’ve found the game that will NEVER END for me. It’s wonderful and terrifying at the same time!

GW2 is great because it offers so many options. When I ask people what to do next, they say “whatever you want.” They want me to treat it like Skyrim. (If that’s a fair comparison). An mmo with the mentality of a sandbox game….I. Have. Found. HEAVEN.

My fear however, is that I will miss something…I know that’s inevitable. The game is so big, there will be something that I miss, some minute little detail. However, my real fear is missing something BIG. The level up notifications help with that, telling me everything I unlock at different levels. But even beyond that, there’s so much more. How can I find everything in Guild Wars 2 so that I can get the most out of the game? When things change with patches, how do I adapt and find new features? (Aside from patch notes of course, I mean a bit more in depth). How can I ensure that my experience with this game is the best one possible? Speak from personal experience everybody, I’d love to hear your stories. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond and help me out here. I’m loving the devs, I’m loving the game, and I’m loving the community. Only ran into maybe five sour people out of hundreds.
