We have no reason to believe raids will be a single 10-player party

If you think of every format in the game that involves more than 5 players, its just multiple teams of parties

The easiest and most logical thing for them to do is just port that over to raids

Your talking about Open World content, Raids will be instanced like dungeons and Fractals

I said every format, that includes PvP: Every full PvP match in the game is instanced, consisting of 10 players max, split into 2 parties of 5.

The ground work is already there, the only difference would be the 2nd party flagged as allied

NO NO NO, do not get the PvP mixed up with PvE, we had enough of that in GW1.

Buff have higher priority to affect party members. For example, if all 10 players stay together, each party will use a different might stacker to get might stacks. AoE support traits will affect the party of the user.
In other words it will be 2 isolated, different groups in terms of buffs.

10 players 1 party in Raids.

Since Raids will be instances it will not work with 2 parties in the same instance.

It’s 10-player content, not 10-player party. That might well be 2 parties of 5.

It will be an instance so it will only work with 1 party, they did the same in GW1 when Urgoz and The Deep had 12 player parties

We are in GW2 though… not to mention how having 2 parties eliminates the problem the OP mentioned.

Raids will be instances so it will not work with 2 parties.

farming what tho? I wish we had a heads up on what exactly we’re going to be able to use to upgrade and guild craft. I know we can spend our existing influence on daily limits to convert to new currencies, but what about coin? What are these new mats we will need, and what currencies will we need to get them? Our guild has stockpiled donations of gold in preparation for the upcoming guild halls, and if we can’t spend it at all there are going to be some irritated members.

You will have to wait, just like everyone else, for the official release.

it would be nice to have some confirmation from a dev on the types of mats we should be stockpiling. if we can purchase them off the trading post this will make the lives of smaller guilds easier, especially if we can plan ahead a bit.

They will not release a list, simply because it will trow the game economy in to a spin.
We all have to wait for the official release of HoT.

Ok so you release the season 1 living world special items that you needed to be playing at that time to receive those items, but you only release certain items i.e. fused gauntlets and the selfless potion. Why haven’t you released the other skins? I felt like it was cool when I had skins like the fused gauntlets and selfless potion but now that everyone can get them again even for a short time aren’t so special anymore are they? If you plan on releasing EVERY single skin this way that would be fine but it does not look like anytime soon ill be able to get shattered holographic wings, fleshy wings or any of the rest of the achievement only skins from past events also Super Adventurer Box Skins and Finisher, I mean come on its harder to get a Fused weapon skin then it is to make a legendary at least make some similar or better looking black lion weapons instead of these crappy past 6-8 releases of them. It would cost 1000$+ to get one even if you saved up 1000g already. I honestly thought the Selfless potion would be the LAST thing you would release or at least all the skins before it first. Well I guess GW2 team likes 3 year veterans who played GW1 and GW2 since they were first released to feel like they cant get anything new because it costs real life money or who knows how long of playing 6 hours+ every day to get enough to buy a new skin or never have that skin even after patiently waiting a year or 2 not to mention the achievement skins, Anet its so lame that the only new skins released in the past year that was actually cool looking was hellfire armor and NOBODY can EVER get the full set even after 6 years I’m sure. So the players who play this game for mostly looks and cosmetic stuff should just quit because you’ll never get anything new unless you pay real life money or wait for 3-6 MORE years. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on this game and I’m just saying, what a waste of every single penny.

Thanks, not.

Don’t let the door hit you in the ……………………………….. on your way out.

I need a Luck Essence eater. We all do.

We all do?

Not so much, but it is a good plan for the future, as more and more veterans hit 300%MF.
Especially since the game gives out Essence of Luck as a reward for daily log-ins. >.>

Though, now I’m curious, what should a luck-eater do?
Spit out a loot chest that Magic Find actually works on?
Or would it work more like candy corn gobblers and spit out buffs to Magic Find?
Or maybe it spits out a guaranteed exotic? (Better chance to find those rare-skin exotics or precursors!)

A luck eater would chew away at your luck, that would give all luck essenc you get a purpose again.

We want the option to create HardCore PvE characters

Death = losing the character and all the items on him (have a separate bank for hardcore characters)

Hardcore characters :
cannot trade/send things with Softcore characters
cannot use the Trading Post
cannot go WvW
cannot go PvP

Give us a Hardcore level ranking list for top hardcore ranked players

You already have all those options,it’s called F2P account.

Problem is if it is PREORDER than you may not get the char slot(s) or any other of the extras for free that is in the different versions. If it is PREPURCHASE than you still may not get it depending on WHERE you buy it.
Buying it directly from ANet gives you the option of support helping you with problems with keys and whatnot. Buying it from someplace else you just may be SOL if the key comes back as stolen and then you have a banned account.
And then if it is a PREORDER that is a boxed edition and then what about the shipping costs if there is any …..

Me? I play enough that it was worth it for me to buy the Ultimate edition from them. My other half on the other hand has no time to play so has not bought the HoT expansion yet. Not that he doesn’t want to buy and play it’s just that with work AND the plays that we do at one of the community theatres around here AND the stage combat classes he teaches AND etc. that he just has no time left right now to play.

Well you will get the character slot, all players who own the core Guild wars 2 and buys and registers the Heart of Thorns expansion before its release will get the extra character slot.
About it may not work, there is always that chance with online key sides, some have good reputations and some have bad, but no matter what there is always a chance that it doesn’t work + some of those site do have support (propably not as good as Anet’s but still there)
Also all the options are digital there is no boxed editions, it is all keys, so i understand not buying it there if you want it physicaly

And ofcourse if you wanna buy it from the official sites, then go ahead, this is just for the people who might not have much money or just looking for a cheaper price

Only from the official site will you get a key to register before the release.
All other sites can only sell you a preorder to be delivered by release date.

I agree, all players should be able to TRY to beat it. But I feel like fractal 50 ( and especially 100 when hot comes ) fills the role of challenging for most pugs. So now I think the only thing that is left is challenging for “hardcores” ( I’m thinking people from the top guilds/are real quick with there dodges, use good builds, and are in general knowledgeable about most things dungeon/fractal related ). One raid after 2 years isn’t that much to ask for to fill this gap that gw2 has had. With hopefully a few more challenging raids down the road too, I think gw2 will be able to maintain more people that they were losing because there wasn’t anything challenging pve related for them.

[/quote]
Even the top guilds will fail first time, it will be so many unknowns, difference is they will keep their failures quiet (even top guilds need to try and then adjust builds for new content, unless someone at Anet gives them early info (guess who) ), only when they beat it will we hear about it.

My major issue with "hard content"

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Eldbrand Charging.8902

Eldbrand Charging.8902

Seeing from any mmo in the past, and how this one is structured I see it taking well over an hour at a time for casual players to complete these raids. I fear it’s going to involve way to many people trying to be hardcore, talking down to players, kicking players who are trying to get this done.

Here’s the good thing about raids in gw2: The rewards will not be better than rewards from playing other content. They may be shinier, but they will not give your character the advantage gained from raiding in other mmos.

While it does bum me out that some people will probably not be able to experience this content due to time constraints, my experience with raiding in other games tells me this will probably not last forever. As more people learn the fight mechanics clear times on the raids will drop making raids more accessible if you can find the group.

Lastly, and this is pure speculation, anet could implement a lockout system similar to other mmos. Since there won’t be a direct enhancement to your character from raiding, this lockout could exist until the player decided to reset it. This would allow a player to gather a few friends and take a swing at some bosses without having to worry about the instance resetting when they zone out.

All in all, I trust anet to make raids something enjoyable and accessible to as many people they can while still keeping them difficult.

I use to think Urgoz took a long time… Power creep fixed that so it might happen in GW2. The HP sinks are real though.

I think Urgoz was like a 12 hour run for the first few times, after a few weeks we used to do it in like 3-4 hours, then they started doing speed runs in less than an hour.

I was checking out some topics regarding raiding on Reddit when I came across something unbelievable.

Get a load of this post :

“Everyone, we gotta send Anet a message.

Make sure you post on the official forums and send Anet lots of emails. Tell them that no raid in Guild Wars 2 should ever be puggable.

Real players like us deserve our bragging rights and legendary armor.

Casuals should never be allowed to clear a raid. Say no to PUGs. Lets do this people!!"

WTF, seriously?? Check it out yourselves. This is the topic:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3iy258/guild_wars_2_raiding_has_to_be_hard_duh_why_and/

The raids had better be puggable . To hell with your “bragging rights”.

anyone can say whatever they want, it doesnt mean he represents a large group, or that he makes any sense. Id be more wary of people with good reasoning than obvious crazies

As we all found out in GW1 that particular group had more say with Anet than the other millions who played. (thanks Izzy)

I’m sorry, I just think this is dumb, it’s stupid and it has no place in MMOs.

Comments like this are a clear motive to divide people into two groups, in the same game.

Group 1: Hardcore Gaming

Group 2: Casual Gaming

and while these two types of plays style have been apart of gaming since the dawn of multiplayer gaming, there is a backfire to be had here. A backfire I myself suffered in GW 1 when Ursan was introduced.

I wanted to do the Torment Realm, I wanted to play it, yet I could never find a group who would take me unless I was Ursan Rank 8 and I would get upset by this.

I too bought this game, I have a right to play it, who is another player to tell me I cannot participate in certain aspect because I do not have this or I’m not a hardcore player?

I understand everyone has goals here, I get that, but… to exclude people from gaming in an area where they may not play it as well as someone else or… play it, but lack 10 more beeds of sweat that the Hardcore Players use as their prerequisite is pathetic,

I missed out on a sizeable part of GW 1 because I didn’t know how to play it and the so-called Hardcore GW 1 players would take someone who was Ursan Rank 6.

We are all players in this game, we all have the same right to try all available content. I despise those who think they play better than someone else.

I went through it in Everquest, EQ 2 FFXI, SWTOR, GW 1 and I REFUSE to entertain going through it again here. Anyone who thinks this kind of mentality is justified should be bonked on the head. Pffffttt…

“We are all players in this game, we all have the same right to try all available content. I despise those who think they play better than someone else.”

Here’s where you went wrong. Even if the challenging group content is SUPER hard, you CAN do it. You just gotta practice. Its totally, 100% available to you. And if you don’t practice/don’t want to you can just ignore it ever existed. its ONE thing after TWO YEARS of total poop for dungeons/fractals. Also its not wrong for someone to relise that you are better than someone else at a game. What you also have to relise is that you may have spent more time in the game, cared more about getting better because it was more fun to you, ran into a lot of people who helped you with tips n whatnot etc etc. When you start thinking your a better human being than someone else just cause your better at the game, then there is a problem.

Where the OP went wrong was when he/she stated raids should not be available for casual players/pug’s, but only hardcore players.
If it is to hard for casuals/Pug’s that’s fine but it should be available and all should be able to at least try to beat it.

I don’t understand the sense of entitlement that is coming from you people. You don’t have to do the raids if they’re too hard for you. You cry that “hardcore” players want content nobody else can do because it isn’t fun for you and then in the same sentence demand that they make it unfun for those same “hardcore” players. The hypocrisy is real.

People are upset because the hardcore’s don’t even want pugs/casual players to have access to raids, they want a game inside the game for an exclusive group.

Guild hall arenas are FAR TO SMALL!!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Eldbrand Charging.8902

Eldbrand Charging.8902

so, um… You’re hoping to go back to ancient Rome and have an arena a gladiator could be proud of?

Or maybe just the extra space to run around more and burn a few calories?

Seriously? Is no one ever happy?

The overall size of those guild halls period are… astounding. They’re giving us our OWN map… MAP! And you want the arena to be BIGGER?

What? You want to throw keg parties in there or… what?

Sorry I’m nothing near happy, because we have this one request:
- Players of GW1, desire to bring back GvG, we work and play for one thing
- We don’t play pve(fractals, dungeons, bosses)
- We almost never play pvp
- All we play is WvW and Game mode from GW1, which was never implemented to GW2, even thought a lot of players wanted it, and we had huge desire to bring this as pvp game mode, but no1 ever listens us. So yes, this is only thing that we want, we didn’t request for borderlands rework, we requested fair enough seperated map in pvp or guild halls that would give us un-interupted place to have a decent 15v15. AMEN.

If this is “we are never happy for you” then check yourself, u would find a lot more requests then just one simple map to hold 15v15 in there. if that’s to much… then i’m sorry for ever asking anything LOL

Based on the video, I’d say it’s closer to 2,000 range rather than 1,200.

We talk about 1250 range RADIUS, not 1250 range.

All the nike players are upset that they can’t run ooc to reset health during an arena fight.

Sorry who’s nike? And how does one reset fight within 15v15 ? How does that work out

AHA, so your one of those PVP nerds from GW1 that ruined the game play for all others with your constant whining to Izzy about skill changes, not giving a rat’s kitten about the consequences to game play outside the PvP minority.

Do not make raids into something only “Izzy’s” buddies can do, make them hard and challenging but doable.
