DH has always been awful at PvP, stick around and maybe when they zerg their way out of tier 6 a good server will take their place.

As much as I love this content, it should not stay in the game – for the same reason that Wintersday and Halloween content never stayed in the game – it’s event material. The kind of content that gets you into the spirit of the event, but after a while gets stale and boring. This month will be very fun with SAB, but if we kept it in the game any longer it would collect dust and grinders.

Also, if the developers put in work for this, it would destroy the resources they could have used on the game, such as other events or expansions.

The problem with upgrades giving wxp is people running into a tower thats under attack, seeing no current upgrade, and deciding to pop the merchant upgrade, while the rest of the team are using the tower supply to make arrow carts. Repairing is the same deal – someone drains all of stonemist’s supplies fixing a wall that is taking constant treb fire, and when the wall eventually dies there is no supply left to siege up the lord room.

Adding WXP to dolyak escorts is a possibility, as the original botting of that was for people to get the money/karma from it (spendable currency which can imbalance game economy – WXP cannot be used outside your character). However, a problem would be people running a program to farm the WXP while they’re sleeping – again, this would be a lesser problem than normal bots, as WXP cannot be traded across characters or accounts, so they have to risk their main char being reported.

Upgrading needs rewards, because I’m tired of emptying my pockets just so we could lose everything overnight. However, to avoid the type of noob that James explains above, the rewards need to stay WvW-related.

My idea is that each time you upgrade something in WvW, upgrades cost less the next time you decide to upgrade. For example, somebody who has upgraded to a waypoint for SM over 5 times will have a cost of only 30 silver when they go to upgrade it again, whereas somebody who has never upgraded SM has to pay the full 1.5 gold.

Why is it that my precursor hasn’t dropped yet? Is it because of the time I TPed ArenaNet headquarters for not fixing culling in beta?

Bags are dropped because some people may have full inventories and would like to clear them out before coming back to pick up their bags. Also, one might think that WvW loot is trash anyway and wouldn’t want to pick up the bags at all. The bags are automatically transported to the player because sometimes enemies are killed in inaccessible locations such as inside towers or keeps.

Personally I don’t mind that you outnumber us enormously (because really what can you do, just stop playing?)

What I DO mind is the fact that most DH I see claim that they don’t win because of numbers. They claim that they win because of skill, which is obviously not true. We have the outmanned buff most of the time in all maps. Yesterday, when we lost the buff in EB, we shot up to +380 potential points, putting us first in potential points. This is a trend that I always find happening: we lose the buff and start winning; we gain the buff and DH destroys us.

I don’t care that you have numbers, but don’t let the scoreboard tell you that your tactics are superior to ours, because that is entirely false.

If you look at the current scores, you could see that most matches are actually fairly balanced. There is no team completely dominating and no team that is getting steamrolled – point gaps seem to be only around 10,000.

So with that, ladies and gentlemen, I give to you an extreme fairweather player. I’m in DR, and we have the second-largest point gap from the winning team in all NA matches currently. And yet… all I see in my server is people having fun. OP does not care at all about having fun, he simply wants to win. Win, win, win. If his team falls below by a few thousand points, they suck and he needs to join the winning team. WIN!

I can’t understand how people prefer winning over challenge, teamwork, and coordination. While you fairweathers whine about losing (even though you may be in one of the top tiers), I’ll enjoy my server losing in tier 6, because even though we’re losing we all have fun and we work great as a team.

Ugh, I was in favor of free transfers before I saw this thread. I think free transfers would be great because it would allow players to find their perfect homes. I transferred around quite a bit before I found my perfect server, but I knew when I came that this was my place to be because I enjoyed the friendly people around me — Thus, I believe it would be a great way to find a server that meets your social preferences. However, it’s because of fairweathers like OP that ruin it. We can’t allow free transfers because fairweathers would hop around and create imbalance, just because they like to win.

I let my kids – ages 6 and 8 – role up characters on my account. I have a great time watching them huddle around the computer playing GW2, especially when they jump into WvW. “Get the yak!” “Follow the commander!” and other lines are priceless coming from the 6-year old. The best part is when they go to bed and I clean up their inventory (they don’t know what to sell vs merchant) and find several badges collected from their fun.

Essentially here’s how things have been going: Ebay and DR completely dominate during the day because BP actually has opponents (Equal numbers for BP is too much for them to handle).

Then, BP caps EVERYTHING while Ebay and DR are sleeping (other than Ebay BL, you guys have kept quite a handle on that place).

The sun is rising atm and I see BP rapidly slipping off of the map, but when I logged in they had nearly everything. So tell me again how BP wins over DR because of tactics and not coverage?

ANet does not care about fixing the tier 8 black hole because you’ll be more likely to buy gems to transfer if you’re stuck in tier 8.

Great fun with both bp and eb in drbl last night. Our very small roaming group(3 ppl) had some fun fights with both krewes, got spanked by Echo a lot. Have to contradict Queensdale here. Enjoying our fights with bp so far. Props to you guys for doing so well.

Oh Echo is great. And I love Ebay, they’re very good with tactics and it’s obvious they are winning because of skill instead of numbers like our SBI friends. I’d say the same for BP if it weren’t for the failed PvPers I’ve come across, and of course the previously teaming with Maguuma against us doesn’t make them look good at all.

But yeah, the roamers of BP are wonderful. Had some great roaming fights with equal numbers as well as fighting with zergs last night – Especially with Echo, kitten you guys could fight.

I hope I didn’t come across as hostile in my last post, I was really just aiming it toward the bad guilds in BP that can’t PvP and try to camp upscaled players in the JP

Back on topic of the thread, I knew BP was bad (you didn’t think we forgot about the whole teaming with Maguuma against us thing did you?), but they are just awful at PvP. I was doing the EB puzzle as I do every day on my warrior when somewhat of a BP zerg (not exactly a zerg, but it had about a dozen people which is a lot for the JP) furiously attacked me. I thought I was screwed for sure, but kitten they were horrible. I hardly even acknowledged them, just skipped around to the well and lost them as I went up. No speed buffs, no heals, and I didn’t even fall below 50% health. A dozen people.

Then, after I finished on my warrior, I came back on my mesmer where 2 KZ attacked me after the well, where I completely ignored them and lost them shortly after the spike traps. 3 THUG (I think that was the guild tag) were trying to camp me towards the end of the puzzle, using the flame trap to try to hit me. They were literally pressing it as soon as they were able to every time. I grab stealth, go through the flame traps (that are still firing hard) in short intervals at a time, finish the puzzle and go back to pull them off

Finally, I returned to do the puzzle on my thief where the same 3 THUG (and this was a while later, so they must have been camping for hours with no success) tried repeatedly to pull me off of the jumps before the dark room. Here’s a tip guys, Scorpion Wire doesn’t work if it’s obstructed

Needless to say, I had a huge /laugh @ fest before continuing on with the puzzle. Please get better at PvP, I need a challenge BP.

Perhaps they could create more maps and thus lower the limit of players allowed in a single WvW map. Players would then spread out across the maps to avoid queue, and less people in the map = less zergy.

It is not the same WM look at the spelling. The WM from SBI was spelled “War Machine” that one is spelled “Warr Machine”. It is all a psycological play to try to brek our morale on SBI. Either way no worries no matter what is done to us it just makes us stronger which is why we were in T1 for so long against outnumbering odds until we just finally lost to many players to hold in that teir. We where holding in T1 at 3 to 1 odds and when we hit zergs 5-6 times larger than ours we wtill held. Our problem was map coverage compared to their map coverage. You do realize there is more than one WM guild? Warr Machine is a strict, Korean guild that transferred from Kaineng to DR yesterday, and they have been around for a long while. So upon the first day of my returning, we get a golem rush going and take Lowlands while SBI is occupied with IoJ in Stonemist. Look at all of the people who needed the vista in Lowlands! I just had to grab a pic.

And earlier today, another golem rush gets us SM and the entire north section of EB! I’m having loads of fun back in my home-server, even if we are a bit behind in points. Keep it up SBI and IoJ, I look forward to meeting you on the battlefield in the coming week!

PICTURE 1: Check out this new ninja spot for Mend I found this match. Blends in with the wall nicely but you need to stop shooting if someone goes into Mend or they will see your giant rocks!

PICTURE 2: In Soviet Sorrow’s Furnace, we ram gates from the inside! If you look closely, you could tell that our ram is set up on the inside of Overlook Keep, and that somebody set a ram up just to allow reinforcements to pass. A strange, yet interesting, way to do things!

PICTURE 3: Positive spawn camping. If they attack your yaks, simply down them but do not kill them. Unless they continue doing it! This way you could be friendly by letting your enemy keep his armor repaired, while also supporting your team

PICTURE 4: Open your eyes ET! One man ninja gets both outer and inner walls down. Time-consuming but fun! It was, of course, another fail, because only about five showed up. It was still fun nonetheless.

Great match thus far ET and FC.

Lol, some SF ordered merchants while FC was @ inner of their keep, wasting 300 supply while we were already scarce. Either we have a case of a spy, or someone who is really bad lol.

So really there’s no way out of Tier 8 without a lot of time, even if all three servers are working to push one of them out. And it will be even worse the next time a server gets sucked into the black hole that is Tier 8. This definitely requires ArenaNet intervention, no doubt about it.

Personally I never started corpse dancing/jumping/laughing/whatever until it started popping up as a problem on the forums. It happens to me all the time lol, really nothing to get upset about. As far as JP camping goes, I don’t do it but really why would we let you have free seige? It’s a war. Could you imagine if the French asked Germany for free weapons during World War II? It would be baffling.

And zerging annoys you? Well tough. I don’t care if it’s honorable or not, if it works and it isn’t against GW2 rules I will use it. Believe it or not, zerging is a tactic. Zerging is available to all servers, not just SF. Connecting back to the WWII reference, imagine if the French also asked Germany to stop fighting in mass because it was dishonorable, or it made them seem like “distasteful” people.

I will stress again that this is a war. No matter what tactic we need to use, red = dead. We are enemies, whether you like it or not. If you want a place where people are always polite, I’m sure you’ll love PvE.

But all of this aside, I’m proud to say that the waypoint at ET keep I ordered has been built, woo transportation. Let’s play a game… find the blue or red.

I knew FC would go for Langor so I seiged the underworld out of it. Needless to say breakout event happened before I finished upgrading everything (trust me, took lots of Dolyak running for this). We handled it accordingly because I had the place LOADED with seige lawl. Then we had bravost breakout to deal with, handled them all as well lawl.

So yeah, I got this awesome mortar. And now we have guild buffs too Gonna need more than a breakout to get this, FC!

I agree that the rating system should be tweaked to ensure fairness. Lots of you believe that SF likes being in tier 8 because we win, but it gets boring without a challenge. 4 straight weeks with the same two servers makes it even worse. I personally don’t have an idea as to how they should go about changing this (other than the far-fetched idea of hiring staff to manually arrange the rankings to ensure no server dominates, but we all know that won’t happen), but I do agree wholeheartedly.

Somebody was ranting about Sorrow’s Furnace in your conversation, I just want to stress that we aren’t choosing to remain in Tier 8 — please don’t put the blame on us. I don’t understand where all of the hatred comes in; SF is probably the friendliest server I’ve been in anyway.
