i think 5vs5 random capping flag has nothing to do with pvp for me, 1vs1 you can show real skill and show how good you are, pls anet add 1vs1 ranked, ty!
no thanks. unless you had to play the exact same build, 1v1s are a battle of whose build counters the other person’s build. for example thieves would always beat revenants, rangers would always beat mesmers, etc… basically rock paper scissors

As you can see in the screenshot, my winrate is better than people miles ahead of me on the leaderboard. I assume this is because I placed in gold while they placed higher.
10 placement matches either give you a massive boost or a massive deficit on the leaderboard, which doesn’t make sense to me. Can someone explain, why is this a thing?
Hahaha I don’t mean this in a rude way, but I really think yall are being too sensitive. This is GW2 PvP, not hello kitty’s island adventure. Why does it bother you so much? Just look away from the screen if it really hurts your feelings LMFAO it doesn’t effect gameplay so I really could care less about it.
I will say, OP has a point that it prevents people from being able to finish fights after the match which could be seen as a bad thing, and as someone else mentioned you can’t port to places like your guild hall if you’re on the losing team. Those are good points.
Duelling in GW2 is rock paper scissors unless you’re playing the exact same build.
Just asking if we could eventually get a separate leaderboard for solo queuers. Two good players duo queueing have a big advantage over a good player solo queuing in terms of climbing the ladder, which is why all of the top ranked players strictly duo queue.
I don’t think you should be forced to party with someone if you want to have a chance at getting a good rank in the end.
I’m getting constant crashes and black screens while not even playing WvW or PvP. Now I can’t even log in for some reason.
Anyone else experiencing this?
NA player here, same issue
Funny how some of you care about wvw so much, but don’t even bother to read the forums or dev comments…
As several people mentioned, and Mo mentioned in the AMA, we release on our own cadence and will continue to release updates for WvW outside of the expansion release.
I also wanted to let everyone know that today is all about announcing the expansion, but later this week we will be talking about some of the upcoming updates for WvW.
Funny how that was posted after I made this thread…
How many still run vanilla builds? Yeah, thought so. You’ll line up to pay just like every other WvW player.
Or we’ll move to another game that actually puts resources into its competitive modes…
Just watched the expac reveal and it’s pretty disappointing (but honestly not too surprising) that nothing about WvW or PvP was mentioned. Anet ruined and neglected these game modes to their deaths, and now that they killed the population for both game modes they can just pretend WvW and PvP don’t exist.
But I’m betting these new elite specs will introduce another power creep to try to force WvWers and PvPers to buy the expac anyway. Oh well, money talks and we’ll see how many WvW/PvP players want to buy an entire expac just for elite specs.

I solo roam on my condi mes. People will call it cancer but when the only fights I get are 1v2s and 1v3s I think it’s fair..
Also I’ve played condi mes since long before it was considered “cancer” so it’s funny that now people are calling me kittenous kitten for playing a build that I’ve always enjoyed playing.
Please fix or remove the Rally system from OakHart Vines… they rally people …. all the time and it’s annoying.
Sounds like you got outplayed
No problems here getting though wood chest yesterday in record time with the outnumbered buff.
Didn’t play Friday or Saturday for a couple of personal reasons. Given that I know those 2 personal reasons can always be relied on to have me outnumbered on a Sunday afternoon, I started on Green bl yesterday. After the second tick it kicked in like clockwork.
I was active the whole time while being on the map and only map switched once after completing wood to see if my absence gave my friend the buff, it did and he was able to complete wood in record time as well and I got the buff back after coming back and participating through the next tick.
Whether or not it’s working as intended for everyone, who knows? You do seem to have to participate on the map in addition to just being there through the previous tick, which is fair in my book because spawn- afking -outnumbered -abuse was the whole point of the change right?
As far as the new talk of using the outnumbered buff to “zerg hunt” lol…
It’s not working as intended for anyone… It must have kicked in for you because the map you were on wasn’t outnumbered at first but then it became outnumbered. It’s not working for maps that are outnumbered from the start, which is the bug this thread is discussing.
Also I don’t get the sarcastic comment at the end; people have always used the outnumbered buff to detect enemy presence.
Hi!
I have an idea to throw into the ring, with regards to pips.
How about instead of putting a level scroll in the chest that you get with each rank, you put pips in it?
Win win…
Problem is, this would encourage Ktraining. No thanks.
people seem to think it only applies when the map switches between outmanned and not-outmanned.
I just hopped in and out of the map to see if that would fix it and I got outmanned so it might be a workaround, but I don’t know.
This leads me to believe that the player has to not have the outnumbered buff before obtaining it, so it doesn’t have to be on the same map. Either way this is clearly not working as intended and should be fixed.
They were both bad decisions….in order to punish the 10%(maybe even less) of population that is abusing the system, you dont make changes that gonna ruin the experience for the 90%.
This sums it up perfectly.
Whilst this is probably a bug, there is a dev post in another thread (this one ) that states the Outnumbered bonus is now applied at the start of the tick rather than the end. The explanation seems to be that if you’re outnumbered at the start, and stay on the map, you should get the pips on the tick.
Yeah, I understand how outnumbered applies at the start of the tick. That’s a completely different problem (ANet logic: people complain about the rewards being lame and too time-consuming to achieve, so let’s make it even more time-consuming by nerfing the outnumbered bonus!)
I hope you’re right and it’s just a bug, but either way I think this was a terrible update for WvWers
The patch notes clearly left something out, and that seems shady or at the very least irresponsible to me.
Some people are getting the buff while others on the same map are not. I’m not the only one experiencing this; several other players have noticed this and posted about it already. Other times no one on the map gets it, even when we’re clearly outnumbered. Is there something you’re not telling us about how the buff is obtained?
As much as I think the change was completely unnecessary and more harmful to roamers than map switchers, I can deal with it if you’re at least honest with us.
Probably warrior
Or they could, you know, give you some marks for completing chest tiers, like they do in PvP…
The world linking system is garbage and should be abandoned, but I doubt that will happen. ANet is making too much money off of people bandwagoning to linked servers, so they have no interest in unlinking servers.
Yo dawg I heard you like condis, so I got you some condis to put on your condis so you can apply more condis.
laugh all you want, but Mag would be crying if this happened to them. It’s honestly not funny – a 5 year old MMO should not be having this issue, let alone still live with a bug like this.
I don’t know anyone on mag who unironically cares about PPT
The killer commander Molassas Muscle is the #1 WvWer in the game. We don’t need a list to know that.
most people are playing condi
[citation needed]
It’s pretty clear to me that the people generally doing the complaining about condis are usually players who main classes who are the weakest against condis (revs, thfs, rngs, engis, etc)
Yep. It would be like if I lost in rock-paper-scissors and started complaining that rock is too overpowered and only cancerous players use it. Try using something that takes skill like paper or scissors!

Victory screens are actually quite common in PvP games. Aside from being able to finish fights, which isn’t really a big deal imo, I can’t see why such a feature would be fine in other games, but not in GW2… Could it just be that the GW2 community is more toxic than the communities in other games?
I don’t think it’s against the rules to post videos; I’ve seen others do it.
On that note, check out my solo roaming vid
What’s a….. pip kitten?
Twice today I have been pulled by a dragonhunter and trapped inside the map. Once inside a pillar at the ogre camp of EBG, and just now under a staircase in air keep.
Is this the secret to getting to tier 1?
In all seriousness though, this has never happened before this match-up. But perhaps it’s because Mag seems to be 80% dragonhunters with the same builds.
I doubt they are doing it on purpose. And you’re wrong, we all play frontline druids. RAPID FIRE!!!!!
How to fix pips:
Reduce outnumbered pip bonus from 5 to 2, or at most 3.
Server in 1st place gets 7 baseline pips, server in 2nd place gets 5 baseline pips, server in 3rd place gets 3 baseline pips
Loyalty, world rank, and commander bonus pips remain the same.
Everybody wins.
1. The OG wvw community from 2012-2013, before all the good players got bored and quit.
2. When RI wasn’t a thing
3. When you could freely xfer between servers without spending hundreds of gold
4. When people would actually solo roam (this is an NA issue. from what I’ve seen on streams, EU players still solo roam)
This glitch happens once in a while where my WvW queue pops, and I click “travel” only to be sent back to the “Eternal Battlegrounds is full. Would you like to queue?” prompt.
Pls fix this annoying glitch, I don’t like sitting in two queues.
I think it’s just better now that people are actually playing WvW. Every server has decent coverage now — that’s why there aren’t any blowouts.
I want a third bl, and maybe some new types of siege.
Having two alpine and one desert bl is awkward. Desert borderland is only so widely hated because it was clearly meant for gliding, which they left disabled for some reason, so it’s hard to navigate. If they made a new borderland it should be smaller, and flatter considering there won’t be gliding.

We like Skirmishes and are looking to support this with rewards in the future. In general, for WvW, our priorities are rewards and ascended equipment.
“Soon.”
I still can’t believe this is all they had to say about WvW.
this reddit post hits it on the nail.
Low tier chat rage. You didn’t even use all caps! I rate 2/10
I know people, important people I say! You don’t know what I’m capable of!!
Ok…just for giggles.
PvE Week – Players can’t kill each other. Players can only kill or heal NPC. Players can be killed by NPC.
I would uninstall if they did this
I’m tired of getting in to matches with people who refuse to play. Reporting idle players doesn’t seem to do anything. Please let use choose who we play with.
You can queue with a 5-man premade, in unranked.
In ranked, you need to climb the ladder with your own skill. 5-man premades have the advantage over solo-queuers, so the leaderboards would not reflect actual skill if they were allowed. A solution would be to have a separate queue and leaderboard for premades, but there aren’t enough people playing to have that unfortunately.
Currently no, you don’t get any rewards when your server wins.
I’ve heard somewhere that they are going to introduce rewards for when your server wins a skirmish (assuming you participated during the skirmish).
That’s kinda my point, the issue does not occur if one is some distance away from the blob v blob. We all die in this game and of course want to get right back into the middle of SMC. Respawning at spawn/keep and there’s no skill lag/lag what so ever until you’re approximately at the outer walls of SMC.
In my experience, skill lag occurs across the whole map when there’s a big fight going on. Trust me, when walking back to SMC from spawn, I use swiftness/leap skills to get back quickly, and these skills will often take several seconds to cast.
So you stayed as a rev in a team with another rev (that’s a mistake for sure) and then managed to lose to team with 2 thieves? I’d say it is not about composition or class counter issue, it is just lack of skill from your side and that’s it.
At skill cap, thief beats out rev easily, so your argument is nonsensical.
In your same example, team 2 should notice that team 1 is trying to counter comp and:
A-wait to see what the new enemy comp is and change before timer runs out.
B-attempt to predict what comp team 1 would be going for and try to counter-counter comp it.Or scenario C might happen: team 1 was just faking and team 2 either fell for the bluff or called it.
I mean, sure, but in my opinion, a psychological battle of who can out-comp the other team before the match starts is not what PvP should be about. Doesn’t this seem like a bunch of unnecessary trouble to go through?
The real problem here isn’t that you can adjust your comp before the match starts….
I’m gonna say the real problem is there are simply too many things that hard counter rev right now. I bet at least one of those those thieves wasn’t even thinking about countering you.
If you lock professions upon queue, many matches will be over before they start due to luck.
Imagine team 1: ele, scrapper, necro, power war, condi war
and team 2: ele, dh, dh, druid, revGG, Team 1 wins before the gates even open (unless they are really bad). and there is almost nothing team 2 could do about it, even if they could still alter their builds. There is simply too much paper rock scissors in this game.
I can see that both sides have their arguments on whether or not professions should be locked, but the bigger point behind my post is that it should be consistent throughout the match, to prevent the problem I described in my first post.
Using your example, let’s say Team 1 and Team 2 were originally balanced and it would have been a fair fight, but Team 1 changed professions to counter Team 2 just before the match began. Now Team 2 is at a disadvantage, and they can’t switch classes to even the playing field.
(edited by Elementalist Owner.7802)
Take other competitive games like League, for example, where you must lock in your champion before even seeing your enemies champions. (I’m not very familiar with League so excuse me if that’s not accurate) — and I know, GW2 is not a moba, but in any competitive type of game where counter builds exist, that kind of system is absolutely necessary.
Why didn’t you just switch before the match started?
They switched at the last second, just as the game was starting. There was no time for me to respond.
All I have to say. Is if you are looking to be able to counter build mid match. You are playing the wrong game.
GW2 and it’s community is highly against allowing players to counter their enemies builds. Therefor it puts abunch of systems and mechanics in place to prevent counter building.
I agree, PvP shouldn’t be about switching to counter builds. But that’s what happens when you allow players to switch before the match begins.
Here is an example of why this is a ludicrous update: I go in to play some PvP as a revenant. Just before the match begins, two players on the other team switch to thieves to counter me and another rev on our team. The match starts and we get trashed by the thieves, so I try to switch to DH to counter the thieves and find out that I can’t get back into the match.
Switching classes should either be allowed the whole way through, or not at all. You shouldn’t be able to switch classes before the match begins if you can’t switch during the match.
