So admittedly my first time running this was last night, I despise this dungeon, but I’m not going to stop because my guildies need me. We got smoked on every boss fight (except husk, what a joke) and I know its probably not because the dungeons are overtuned, but simply due to a lack of experience.

We all know about the blossom rally mechanic, so theres that. But I was just looking for some experienced insight into how to make the bosses more manageable. Running on my mesmer I have an AoE cleanse on short CD so that helped, but the Wurm, Vevina, and the Nightmare Tree just rocked us a few times. So what are your tips for this one.

2 things: The AoE of ‘eat corpse’ needs to be single target or small AoE, and the attack needs to stop channeling as soon as no one is CC’d.

Or just fix both by making the base damage of ‘eat corpse’ like 20% of what it is now, have it cause vulnerability and bleeding, and make it 5x effective on downed players. People ressing the downed player should not be hit for 30% of their HP simply because their allies stun break are on CD.

Why is WvW such a grindfest?

Sadly, badge drops are done in a way that heavily favors zerging. People who run around with 50-100 others spamming tag abilities like they’re pveing get massive amounts of badges, while those who run solo/small group and face much greater challenges get almost none. If you zerg, well you certainly should be getting all the badges you need. If you don’t, your only choice is to grind pve to get geared.

Not at all true in my experience, I’ve gotten faaarrrr more badges in 10-20 man groups than running with a 50 man zergfest.

Also protip for eles: if you die with loot bags around your feet, pick them up in vapor form

Proof right here that Eles are OP, I want a nerf immediately! How dare you use a class mechanic to profit while others suffer. Everyone knows Eles are only supposed to use their vapor form to make me run a few extra yards to get my spike in.

Start your stomp just before the ele vapor forms and steal before it finishes, not that it stops me from picking up those bags :P

Too bad it was only against 6 defenders.

I sorta feel honored you have to portal that many people in to get past our camp.

I have it!! The solution to all 3 server problems.

Lets take all the top guilds that have the common goal of server rank progression, and move to ONE server!!!!

KAIN/WAR/iSPY/ENVY/NoQQ can push domination on reset thru sunday. PRO/GASM/RED/BTSY/WAR/iSPY can push domination through “primetime” on weekdays, and PRO/YARR/SoS can push domination late nights!

Oh man, we’d rise to #1 server!

Question is: what server do we all get on? I’d vote DR simply because its has the highest point tally at the moment and gaining points is pretty much suck!

Ok..now lets make it happen so we can rise up and put a stompin on some arses in tier 1!

We can reform into one big guild called Alpha n Omega [AnO]. When you see us its the beginning of your end! lawl..caaaaaaaaaaaaackle…weee to beer!

That would be so awesome, but we’ve all been in the ditches on the low tier servers and we all have a lot of server pride. It would be unfortunate for anyone to have to abandon ‘home’ for something as silly as WvW matchups.

Its just a population problem Chaster.

Stonemist on most tiers flips every5mins. We held it for… 3 days? Thats with both servers banging on it repeatedly nonstop the whole time.

DR does have alot more manpower in WvW than either Fergs or Kaineng.

It was odd that during the weekend thier population went down to where it made the fights EVEN where one side didnt completely outnumber the other.

On top of that, it might be that thier leadership doesnt play weekends much either…. whereas we in Kaineng do play weekends but less during the week.

Almost every server in the game is on these forums recruiting guilds to com help them during thier off-times… every server has offtimes where they get thier stuff taken due to low population.

DR’s offtimes are weekends and primetime. Kain’s is daytime afternoons and nightcapping unless SoS is slowing them down in thier time bracket.

Dont let losing Stonemist get ya down man, nor let DR gaining on us either get you down. You and your guild are vital to Kaineng’s ability to bring a fight in each matchup.

Pop didn’t go down…we had a queue the whole time. I don’t know what you’re thinking of.

unfortunately i was in langor 10hours ago when it was taken… full upgrade + supplies + tons of siege, but only 2 of us defending against DR horde (would not say zerg because they are pretty coordinated). 1 more guys came in but it was too late. We couldn’t repair fast enough to hold the gate for help.

couldn’t blame the guys because during that time, there is so few of us left and most of us will defending SM against attacked from Ferg in the north.

hate it when a fully upgraded keep goes to waste. felt sorry for the chap that drops so many sieges in langor though.

Yeah all the props for the assault on Kain keep midday today goes to RGTG and SoCo woth a little bit of Dark help. (I laid down the Omega which subsequently got jacked by a random, held for ransom, and taken to fight the grub.)

Apparently we can’t take and hold anything in EB because we always have Morningstar screwing up every important hold by running his kittening zerg into deathtraps.

When ferg was taking SM, that was not our goal. It was Morningstars goal. We wanted to hold the keep and danelon and upgrade, but alas that brilliant fellah has a blue shiney icon above his head and 12 golems conveniently placed to wipe on SM.

When Kain keep needed help, he was busy wiping his zerg. When outer was breached, he was still wiping on SM. When kain was back in their Lords room, he was still wiping, for a total of 3 wipes on SM. More than enough time for Kain to rampage through their keep, through Bravost, through Quentin, through Danelon.

And then he has the audacity to claim it was “strategy”, that it was all done to strip the upgrades on SM, as if he did something to help ferg take it. I have more resentment for that one commander(sic) than I’ve ever had for ferg and kain combined.

How do you counter D/D elementalist?

I was about to say one of the best counters to D/D is actually Staff ele, if played correctly because as mentioned before the best way to counter them is to remove their mobility, earth 5 immobilzes earth 2 cripples, water 4 chills, air 5 can stun since they move a lot so they can either stay in inclosed area or get stunned either way win win, and air 3 if you can hit, since its a knockback, as long as you don’t play them all at once so he can remove them all you should be ok start with air 5 if it hits air 3 by then he might have used one of his cantrips to get out of stun, if so great then knock chill on since that is devastating slows recharge and speed so he has to remove this if he wants to stay mobile so 2 condition removals down(these are usually on a decently long recharge), then if you are good hit with earth 2 to cripple since cripple always scares people( when you hobble you always try not to hobble) then hit with earth 5 it is one of my newer favorite skills. But like i said it has to be played right and it depends on fight, if 1v1 it might take awhile but i will eventually win as long as i don’t make any major mistakes like pressing 9 and 0 instead of 8 and 9 for my burst damage to get him down. but like i said it takes some more skill to kill a D/D as a staff but its still has the right skills to stop the D/D, staffs are just overall underrated

I find staff to be a terrible counter to D/D. Hard and soft CC has too long of a CD and even if you manage to lock down the ele for a few seconds you dont have the burst to finish off the ele, he’ll just heal up and be back.

No, you stop this QQ right now. You don’t speak for the server and there is NO POINT about complaining about the amazing fight Kain and Ferg are putting up right now. They’ve got a really strong offense AND defense and I, for one, won’t be upset in the least if either one of them take this match. However, its still far too early to really see who will come out on top, and if they win because they camp every exit, every corridor, every chokepoint then good! That kind of play is awesome and us fighting against it will grow us as a server.

Many players love sPvP and enjoy that aspect of the game, but it kinda sucks if thats what you main you get locked out of other content. I don’t want to sound too extreme by saying players are forced into PvE, but that’s exactly what it is.

My simple proposal is that you add an item to the glory venders that gives x amount of experience. As you gain ranks, the experience gained from the respective vendors (Rabbit, Deer, …) is increased.

This idea allows players to progress while still doing what they love and to be able to enjoy other facets of the game. Obviously, this wont gear you up, but having the levels would still be a great help.

i was doing my lvl 2 fractal
and on the third all party got err and game reseted…
i spent 2h for what?
so u can say oh we are sorry, our game is full of bugs but we are working on the fix…what fix
u think that satisfied me?
i want something in return… sorry aint good enough anymore
its been nearly 3 months and ive lost my nervs to many times over your stupid bugs

Agony and ascended gear shouldn’t exist anyway. The proper way to increase difficulty is to increase damage dealt by NPCs and give them new abilities.

(aoe knockback wider than the platform you’re standing on is NOT a good way to do this)

While I agree with the new abilities part (hello aoe knockback), artificially tweaking damage and hp variables is a piss poor way to create an illusionary difficulty. What you end up with is a cheap gear check, and chokepointing in build selection. It’s called D3 Inferno mode if you don’t believe me, and it was pure trash on that game too.

Knockback has a counter, two actually: 1) dont get hit by it 2) stability. While yeah, its a bit OP if trash spams knockback with no cooldown, at least there is a counter. Raw, stupid high damage? Not so much.

Portal completely ignores one of ANet’s design pillars for skills: All other skills in the game, without exception, affect a maximum of 5 players.

Without exception, huh? All skills huh? Veil, Temporal Curtain, Line and Ring of Warding would like to have a word with you. Its a utility effect, not a condition, not a boon, not damage, not healing. Reflection can reflect the projectiles of far more than 5 people, because its a utility effect. Quit making up game design pillars that aren’t there.

Portal isn’t broken so nothing needs to be done to fix it.

If the content of my statement was that of being non-functional, you would be correct. However, fix can also mean a solution to an issue.

It has nothing to do with education you pompous prick. Stop trying to strawman an argument that has no logical foundation. The portal skill is only in the most BASE level an AoE skill in that it can take people from one area to another. These limitations you suggest are irrelevant as there are plenty of counter examples of skill that affect an unlimited number of people, veil and temporal curtain come to mind.

Maybe the only “fixing” that needs to be done is to make it a Line of Effect skill that instantly transmits people from one side to another so people like you can stop crying that its an AoE that affects more that 5 people.

Portaling 5 people in WvW is useless. It’s an abhorrent suggestion that takes away options, removes a valid strategy from the game, and further degrades the game into more PvDoor.

It is an exploitation of a game mechanic. If AE was unlimited then it would be self regulated, but since it isn’t then balance is mandated.

Exploit….people keep using that word. I don’t think they know what it means…

Portal is a tactic, it is also NOT the only skill to affect an unlimited amount of people (think carefully). And like ANY tactic it can be countered. Seriously all this whining about portals is so kitten old…

Nah we are not preppin for higher tiers, almost everyone I saw last night was leveling alts. It was actually kind of fun to have 25 copper repair bills

This forum has turned around quite nicely. I think most of us have finally gotten past the ego trip and started respecting the many good players on the other side. My guild, at the least, knows that if you see [Envy] or [NoQQ] odds are they know you’re there and they will slaughter you mercilessly.

Yeah it really sucks. My static guild group loves this dungeon, but between DCs and progress blocking bugs (on time 2 members were teleported to an invincible cage in the collosus fractal) we simply cant run these things.

The content is great fun, we have dredge, collosus, and snowblind down to a T, yet our group has never once made it fully to difficulty 3. We’ve never failed and given up on a single fractal that didn’t bug out. It’s just heartbreaking having these awesome new dungeons, new (amazing) environments, new puzzles, new mechanics, learning to overcome them and ultimately getting beat, not by the content, but by the network.

Maybe, this was an oversight when trying to create an anti-exploit system. Just know that in the future, your players have to come before action against the dishonest.

Had some fun for 3 1/2 hours in Kaineng and then DR BL. Random patches are annoying…

Haha, so it seems we just traded keeps in our respective BLs. We started with a little force (and collected more along the way). We got a few calls to fight the “HUGE KAIN ZERG” in our BLs but we figured if we snagged your garrison, you’d be back soon enough. Sadly, update made that a pipedream. (Thanks ANet for your well telegraphed updates.)

if so many people are having problems with your guild do you think everyone else is wrong and theres just no truth to the hate? ive played with great Pro memebers inuding you but the snobby players ive come across have also been from PRO. i dont care if PRO doesnt do anything about it and ignore people that critisize them but DR is still one large team afterall

Please use quotes so people know who youre responding to. If there is a personal issue please handle it with the individual or one of their guild higher ups. I can’t speak for pro, but if someone came to me with the behavior of one of my guildies that reflected on my guild,l I would certainly confront them.

PRO already has a rep in most people’s eyes. IMO, I think it’s mostly positive-ambivalent for my guild and my alliance. I will say one thing though, If we move up tiers with this amount of inter-server QQ we will be stomped by the likes of AR, BP, ET, or GoM.

Im in DR, and the few PRO members I’ve come in contact with have been nothing but snobby. Guys, just because you have a tag over your name, it doesn’t make you any better than anybody else. I’ve entered dungeons with people that are level 1, and when they screw up I’ll never call them out on it. Calling players out isn’t going to achieve anything and will only split people up. If there are new players, teach them don’t demand of them. I’d love to give you the name of the snobby member Dred, but I’m going to choose not to.
And no, I’m not a new player. Level 80 with exotics for a while now, just thought I’d want to speak up for the new players.

I dunno man, sounds like you may be the one with the issue. My experiences with Dred have been good as a whole, but you come on here claiming “I’m not going to call out ‘X’” and then call him out. The only time I’ve seen Dred act like a jerk is when he’s dealing with incompetent commanders who divert map resources and get nothing done. Your name wouldn’t happen to be Sir Morningstar, would it?

Its not new discovered build, its off hand dagger ability 4, air attuned (you rarely see this as ele using -/d is rarely seen in WvW, but in PvE or SPvP there are lot). Or they use mist form or blink (short range).

Moa form >>> single target, have long CD >>> fair not a game breaking.

Actually if you see any kind of good ele, they’re almost all using D/D in open field combat and is gives better mobility, better defense, and better burst than staff. Generic D/D combo allows for AoE burst of around 15k-20k with 2 AoE CC’s, a good (but bug ridden) gap closer/escape, 2 fire fields and 3 blast finishers, in addition to AoE chill, ranged charge/immobilize.

I’ve seen some very effective staff ele’s, but for burst, bunker and skirmish, D/D is IMO superior. Personally, I only swap to staff when assaulting or defending a walled objective. And don’t even talk about elites, ele’s have an absolutely awful selection, it’s so bad most eles would gladly give up their elites for another utility skill slot.

No one should be commenting on eles (or mesmers) unless the have played one to at least 60.

or how bout the newly discouered ele build where u can take on 6-8 people and right as ur about to die u get some kinda telly that allows u to speed run away . basiclly leaveing u trying to chase them down. now i know moa and there sunk but still ur complaining about portals. these have way worste affects on the game.

Newly discovered since when? Beta? It’s an offhand dagger skill that bugs out 80% of the time. Thieves can stil; chase, it doesnt cleanse conditions, doesnt work while immobilized.

Mesmer portals are game breaking in WvWvW

As with my previous thread on this topic.

Mesmer portal needs to be changed in just the number of people that can use it at one time I don’t care how it is used just that it at current is the strongest skill in the entire game. Please make it 5 players max or at least have some manner of internal cooldown on like one person every 0.5 seconds or 0.1 seconds so you can’t have 100 people instantly.

This game is slowly becoming Mesmer vs Mesmer instead of World vs World

Cap it at 5 people, problem solved. It doesn’t stop the tactical feel because you can have 4 people and 1 more mesmer go through the first port and the second mesmer can open a new one etc. That takes time, and involves more tactics though. It still gives defenders time to react though, without removing the ability or destroying it’s usefulness in moving golems/players.

Oh sure, doesn’t stop the tactical “feel” just stops everything tactical about the entire skill. The portal is nothing more than an option that expands gameplay and tactical choices, get rid of it, nerf it, what have you, and you’ve limited the entire WvW experience to PvDoor with some defensive siege thrown in.

The portal is already counterable, is usable offensively in open ground battles, offensively in keep/tower capping, defensively when there is a zerg at your door, support by enhancing mobility across land, and stealthily by quickly moving your assault force to the objective you want to hit, while the larger zerg hangs back as a distraction.

You know what it doesn’t do? The mesmer portal doesn’t automatically make pugs coordinated. It doesn’t encourage its users to build defensive siege emplacements. It doesn’t bypass chokepoints without first having a lone class traverse the point.

The portal is fine, leave it alone.

At what point did kaining stop fighting overwhelming odds, stop running siege and baiting people into death traps, stop doing anything that levels the playing field? Yeah, you guys are outnumbered, every server in this matchup has been there at some point or another, but christ guys you have the talent! You have an alliance, you have guilds that can and will work together. You have an amazing 10 man strike group via NoQQ (which I openly admit, I’d LOVE to run with and learn from), but it seems like the days of Fubuki rallying people to fight overwhelming odds has come to a close and Kaining is becoming something they’ve never been, a fair weather server.

I still have respect for you guys, tons of it, well the ones who fight instead of wagging their tongues on the forums. You know, a lot of DR’s leadership came out with a plan on reset to completely shut down Kain and demoralize you guys for the rest of the week. I’m just a little sad to see it worked.

I’m still around. I took a couple of weeks off recently due to a death in the family, but I’ve been back for about a week.

My spirit’s still intact. I never cared abut the scoreboard, the imbalanced population, or the losses in the past and still don’t. I hear a lot of the “new guys” complaining about how imbalanced the pairing is now. I can’t help but chuckle a little. Check it the scoreboard in this video, less than 24 hours into a matchup vs DR and NSP back in the old days:

I merged my guild into WAR about 6 weeks back, so I didn’t feel the need to promote the server any more. After seeing what the forums had turned into after the Kaine incident (the week Kaineng won our pairing), I just couldn’t stomach the idea of posting here any more. I didn’t want to be a part of all the negativity. That was never what I was about. These days I do my rallying on the battlefield.

I left WAR a few days ago to create a new guild with my wife, the Kaineng Preservation Society [KPS]. You may remember I used to sign my posts with this fictitious name when I was promoting Kaineng. I figured it was fitting.

The goal is to simply get back to our roots, the kind of stuff you talk about in your post above. Small scale 5 man groups, time tested tactics, and fun open field battles. You can rest assured that no matter how lopsided the matches end up, or how many people come and go, you’ll always have at least 2 people out there trying to be a thorn in your side.

See you on the battlefield (but you’ll have to look down, we’re REALLY short).

Mobile Siege

And not golems, I’m talking same power, same look, same hp as normal siege, but types that people can man and move.

How it works: only applicable for arrow carts, ballistae, and catapults. They are moved by a coordinated team of people lifting them and moving them into place via carrying frame. These frames are 3 or 5 pronged corresponding to the amount of people required to lift an move them. There is always a front prong, and the person who mans it effectively is the driver and steers it, but the siege doesn’t become mobile until every other lifting prong is manned.

Cost: You’d buy these blueprints from vendors at an increased price (33% more or 8s for mobile arrow cart) or find them at an increased rarity from jump puzzles. Superior versions are created the normal way via mystic forge.

Drawbacks: Other than cost, people moving the siege would move halfway in between normal running speed, and dolyak speed. Swiftness applies, but only if all people manning the siege have it (Useless guild road markers?) and brings the group up to normal running speed. Siege cannot be fired until redeployed. Movers cannot use mesmer portals or waypoints.

How this affects current WvW: Well for one, it allows you to reform your siege emplacements based on a changing circumstance. Second, it create an emphasis on defensive siege emplacements and strongly defending what you take since it allows you to bypass the current siege cap (which atm is pretty buggy, and you don’t know you’ve hit it until the game rudely stops you from laying down siege when you need it most.) It requires and encourages coordination and teamwork. It allows small groups to more effectively create strong pockets of defense.

I love our when my server (Kaineg) and we go up against the fergs it is a fun fight and we are about even. But the devonas are completely out numbering us they have more points then ferg and us (kaineg) together. It is obviously a 1 sided battle and we get pinned against them. We all know we would lose in that kind of fight, people I know and some of my friends are going to devonas because they are tired of losing.
Here is why Kaineg will lose.
1. We are the newest server in the game.
2. The more we get stomped the more people that are going to leave.
3. No one wants to move to a losing server.
4. We don’t upgrade our forts because we just lose them 5 minutes later.

Kaineg and the Fergs need to be placed in a lower bracket to avoid this.

Oh come on man! Were you here in the days of Fubuki? Its not just about inspiring people and guilds to transfer but also about inspiring the timid on your server to run regardless of score. Get a couple more groups like NoQQ out there, they know how to fight whilst outnumbered. Lock down your BL, accumulate small victories and prove how tactics and strategy can win on the micro scale.

You’ll get more transfers, more actives, better morale, and greatly improved strategy. We may be fighting in these matchups, but the fact is we’re in the bottom tier together, which means we all suffer from the same problems. What we learn from fighting each other still applies when we fight Borlis or Anvil or GoM.

I’m not going to complain about how uneven this matchup is. What i will say is im disappointed in a lot of people in my server, and even in my guild. Instead of coordinating and working as a team, we’re a bunch of spread out useless individuals with differing goals and not achieving anything at all. There used to be a time where we played for fun, and now after one victory a few ago we feel slighted and abused by the transfers that certain servers get that make winning harder and victory an unattainable goal like we’re entitled to it. We’re not and we have to work hard like everyone else and try our best. instead map chat is reduced to a bunch of whiners who run around alone and complain when they get zerged over. Morale is low, and I hardly see any commanders on but the random one who paid for it and doesn’t know what he/she is doing or one of my own guild commanders such as Darxio running the lone fight. Gone are all of our commanders. Gone are those who would fight just for the sake of fighting. No one but a few want to lead a useless fight, and its a shame.

You, I love you. And I love fighting [KAIN] (and [WAR] not so much i [iSpy] though..bloody thieves. I havent had the pleasure of getting rolled by [NoQQ]). But you hit the nail on the head, in addition, many here at DR have been fueling the fire, acting like we’re hot stuff here. Im hard at work trying to organize our server and some smaller guild for the possibility of AR and GoM but I feel we’re in for a rude awakening if we get there. That’s why we need to drop the ego trip and focus on collaborating, but alas the goal seems so distant.

So now you come and complain on the boards that we aren’t playing?

Considering you need everyone to play to actually have fun, your plan was pretty stupid.

Your ignorance is showing.
1) I’m not complaining, I thoroughly enjoy winning, but victories over doors are empty ones indeed.
2) Kaineng used to actually keep fighting regardless of odds, something a large majority of the server seems to have forgotten.
3) Not my plan, just a plan from various people who were sick of your trashtalk on the forums.

When you win, its all skill, when you lose its all numbers. People get disgusted with that mentality pretty quickly. Fun fact, the people who jacked your keep in EB on reset 3…4..how many times was it? They weren’t transfers, just the same guys who’ve been here since the beginning, finally organized, geared, ready and willing to build 5 golems and port them to your water entrance under your nose while another commander keeps you looking towards spawn.

This used to be a friendly rivalry, but this no skill trashtalk has pissed people off who now want to put you in your places. My advice, Kaineng, stop letting the forum warriors speak for your server.

Don’t worry. If/when we move up a tier, we will get our kitten handed to us, unless we really really consolidate and solidify the existing leadership. We have good talent, good leadership, and better numbers than we’ve ever had before, but it’s still not enough to roll with Anvil Rock, GoM, Borlis and the others.

However, this is an absurd argument claiming the only thing we have is numbers. That we dominate maps 24/7 or w/e. I don’t mean this to be insulting at all cause I truly respect you guys at kain, but if this were all about guilds transferring to DR, then why did Ferg come out stronger than you guys last night?

Ferg doesnt have tons of players either, but what I saw from them at times really really impressed me. (Though admittedly I lolled when they kept running into my 6 man meatgrinder at Pangloss). Kain had an extremely sizeable zerg roaming EB sometime later in the night.

Also just a little fyi: In EB for DR, there was no queue for 98% of the night, and at least 40 people were afk at spawn or castle.
