Guild Leader – The Hakaishin [GODS] (Sorrow’s Furnace)
Website: http://www.hakaishinlegion.com
“He’s a botter, it’s impossible to have 100g already!”… lol
No.
Money isn’t an obstacle to me. 32,000 gems isn’t an obstacle to convert into 100g. It’s some $500. Big whoop. I spend more than that taking my wife out to dinner.
I saw it as necessary to help my guild and our new alliance to coordinate in WvW. That said, yes it can be toggled off, and I do so when not in WvW.
That said, I am not a “server/army” commander as cited by Gradius. I lead the Hakaishin, and I help lead the Sorrow’s Revenge alliance of 6 (current) guilds in WvW. Commander status has and will help facilitate that for us.
Those who have it on in Lion’s Arch is a bit laughable, obviously just kitten stroking their kitten. I would rather avoid the hassle and only have it on when it is needed to avoid the headache. I’ve enough to deal with in my guild and our budding alliance. Drama is not what I’m after as a Commander.
…
Good suggestions mate and great initiative. However as you get better organized and move to higher ranks, you’ll realize the strongest tactic is alarm-clocking or using time zones in this current scoring system. And all the points you gained by your superior organization, shared teamspeak will get erased by 30 man pugs using /team chat when you sleep.
That is acceptable. That would mean we were defeated. We’d accept that, and appropriate counters for it.
Besides… who says we cannot do the same to them? Each server without exception has late-nighters, people with odd schedules, etc. There is no 1 server doing this. That said, ours can retaliate in much the same fashion, perhaps even meet them and wipe them in the attempt.
I will not blame mechanics for my own failure, the failure of my guild, the failure of my alliance, or the failure of my server to win. Victory is always possible, no matter the circumstance. The fog of war may obscure it sometimes, but it is there.
If our enemy has found a way to get a 1-up on us, then we’ll just have to try that much harder to get back at them.
While I agree improvements can be made to WvW as with any human-generated design, if you’re looking for ultimate “balance”, you shouldn’t be in WvW… Structured PvP exists for a reason.
The moment you have “open” anything, the idea of “balance” goes out the window. ArenaNet actually does a pretty decent job of helping make this not such a huge factor by instituting a 500 person limit for one server to be in WvW. This means that if Server A has 5x Server B’s population, it will still be quite easy for both sides to cap out at 500 people in WvW (and happens all the time even with low-pop servers).
Not every engagement is going to be even. If that’s what you’re looking for, GW2 does offer that in Structured PvP. Everyone has the same size party, same gear, same level. It will even match up versus your earned rank, so you don’t pit ridiculously skilled players against newbies 24/7. To coincide this, all classes can perform all roles. Can’t get any more even than that.
WvW is for those who prefer a more militant take to PvP. People who don’t care about “balance”, because we understand any conflict with the word “open” in it doesn’t care about balance – only victory. Outnumbering your enemy is a viable tactic. Capping behind them is a viable tactic. Camping popular areas to destroy your enemy is a viable tactic. Capturing when your enemy is asleep and/or not prepared is a viable tactic.
If it results in the defeat of your enemy, however that is achieved, it is a viable WvW tactic.
Sorrow’s Furnace has fared pretty well in WvW to date, but we still saw room for improvement. 6 guilds so far have joined together (including my own) to form a hierarchy alliance, where we can coordinate on a massive scale with voice chat, and more flock to us regularly now. By doing this, we are able to counter many of the aforementioned tactics. We are no longer a mindless zerg. We are able to enjoy richly the true purpose of WvW.
If you cannot, then I recommend growing a pair, show some initiative, and form something similar on your own server. You’ll find improvement.
As a commander, I’ve to ask… why?
Good afternoon nergoza.
Are you opposed to changing servers? If not, I believe Hakaishin would be a fine home for you. The link to our website is in my signature. We are a medium sized, extremely active and organized guild that runs closer to a family than most guilds you’ll find, a guild whose leadership is made up of both active duty and former military and combat veterans who take care of our own.
Feel free to ask any questions that weigh on you.
[FURY] has been added to the list appropriately.
The Alliance between our guilds is formed. Sorrow’s Revenge now hosts the guilds of [GODS], [FURY], [TEST], [GWS], [PK], and [RAWK] have formed a functional coalition. We will be operational for the next WvW reset. In the meantime, we openly invite any other interested guilds.
(edited by Enerjak.2475)
Meeting is scheduled for tonight at 8pm CST for those who had offered participation. This will allow us to hammer out details before the next WvW reset tomorrow evening, and we’ll be ready for it.
Here’s to Sorrow’s Furnace cooperation and victory.
Ouch. I got called Kid…… It’s like Kids aren’t supposed to play video games. Tell me which is more sad though. A CHILD playing pretend, or an adult doing it.
I don’t understand how “Kid” became an insult for someone playing a game.
/off topic “childish” argument
I think the WvWvW bonuses are good enough. They really add up 10% gathering, 10% gold find, 20% crit crafting. I like it.
Who said I was insulting you? Being young is an insult?
No… I said you can’t seem to pass a reading comprehension course in a more polite manner because of how blatant you were in displaying an inability to read a simple five letter word and define it as plural as opposed to not.
THAT, while true, is an insult.
I added “Kids these days…” because it is often a youthful mistake (which you enacted so perfectly) to leap without looking – to comment/scream/whine/insult without context.
Instead of addressing that, you again take the extreme (impulsive and insipid) action of assuming. Even when you assumed the first time and was proven wrong, you do it AGAIN so soon…
Assumption is the mother of all kittenups.
Youthful, childish mistakes. Kid mistakes.
No insult will come from age as a number. Only in how you conduct yourself. You simply do so in a poor fashion.
You get 2 silver at level 80 for a supply camp. About 4 for a tower and around 8 for a keep. 1 for a sentry and .5 for a Yak kill, and if you are VERY lucky one for a player.
That means in an hour you’d have to Cap:
37.5 keeps
75 towers
300 sentries
600 yaksor some combination there of
So unless you can kill a Yak every 6 seconds, or you get a Rare drop from EVERY PLAYER you kill. Than you sir are a liar.
No, you sir simply don’t know how to read.
“3 golds”. 3 Rares. 3 items. Of which is very possible in an hour’s time of constant killing away from the zerg.
The term “Gold” in currency is not plural. I know… it’s a rare thing… but there are people out there who actually use proper English!
Each of which salvaged for between 1-4 Globs of Ectoplasm, so I ended up making a pretty penny regardless, but that is aside the point.
Before calling someone else a liar and making yourself look insipid, it’s generally wise to clarify, or actually read what it is you’re responding to.
Kids these days…

Zombie clearly believes logic dictates that we play video games to make achievement or earn reward.
I’m in shock of the sheer… logic… of that idea.
Because that logic would clearly dictate I marry the woman I love simply because she has a snatch, feed my son meals every day because he’s a boy and not a girl, or joined the military just to make Exxon Mobile and British Petroleum some extra cash by killing over 2.5 million innocent people in a country that has never committed a single act of aggression against us.
Superb logic.
I play games to have fun. I played Guild Wars 1 since 2004 because I found it fun. 7 years later, I still found it fun, even as the game really had no reward system at all in… well… anything. I play games for the same reason I paintball, or play football, or have sex, or whatever else I may specifically go out of my way and routine to do.
Because I enjoy it, not because I get a pixel prize.
That may not be enough for you. You may just get a stiffy for that extra gleam in your pixel pants. If so, then I clearly don’t comprehend that “logic” and prefer my insanity any day.
PM sent as requested.

The Hakaishin has begun organizing other guilds of Sorrow’s Furnace to form a coalition for WvW. The publicly available details are listed in the provided link.
An introduction to Hakaishin Officer staff for those participating in the meeting.
Updated the original post with our guild’s new website.
Updated with our new website, and added a small introduction video.

I was a level 30 Necromancer and able to single-handedly lock down keep tower swarmed by 10+ players. Able to team up with a Guardian and Elementalist and consistently maintain control of the entire engagement while the “zerg” (if you call 15 people a zerg in a map that supports 500v500 combat) beat down the gate, again by ourselves (each of whom were not even 30 yet).
As a level 80 Necromancer, I not only hold control of that tower… I decimate it.
This thread is witless crying for no reason. There are plenty of rewards (I got 3 golds yesterday in one hour of WvW… how did I do that? BECAUSE I AVOID ZERGS AND MOVE WITH MY GUILD TO CAPTURE AREAS OURSELVES IN SMALL PACKS). Our guild gets ridiculous amounts of Influence. Karma just blows up. Money is on par with end game dungeons. All the while, I get to PvP.
If this is not your experience, you’re clearly doing it wrong, which attests the QQs to mean absolutely nothing.
Obviously if this is your experience, you’re not QQing to begin with.
LOL, QQ. You’re doing it wrong. You should throw in “Go back to WOW” to complete the trifecta. So you REALLY believe that a level 80 PVE exotic geared player is on the same level as a level 40 wearing greens? Good for you, your little guild of “geared” level 80s can hold a tower. That completely blows my comment out of the water. I am speaking of lower level experiences though. So where exactly did you get your gear? Since ArenaNet is so worried about competition, offer gear to players. It doesn’t have to be PVP gear that drops.
Never told you to go back to WoW there, kiddo. But as long as you’re putting words in my mouth…
I leveled from 30 (as soon as I got my elite) to 80 in WvW. I know well and fine how it is for all level ranges.
Simply put, you’re QQing. It’s fine. Better than the world PvP systems of every game to date, even.
You’re crying for handouts. If you are unsatisfied with gear, there’s this beautiful thing I like to call crafting… can get it up to 400 in one day, get about 25-30 levels off of one craft by itself, and make whatever gear you bloody feel like.
Your whining is both old and void.

PMs sent to applicable parties. I will keep you posted should things change.
Please forgive my belated response, I’ve been occupied over the weekend with work.
Each of you will be PMed the necessary Vent information to organize a meeting and see what we can come up with for our server’s benefit.
@Sir William PD – Many good fights against Darkhaven, both pre and post launch. I’d say we’re giving you a decent run for your money so far.
@Spartyr – I’m sure it would. Though I’ve to admit, feeding you misinformation would be fun as well.
(edited by Enerjak.2475)
Excellent. PM sent with the necessary information.
The Hakaishin (http://hakaishinlegion.com) are reaching out to like-minded guilds to form a bit of a WvW coalition on Sorrow’s Furnace. Not a merger, just a partnership.
This would allow multiple guilds to hop in the same Vent channel (we happily offer ours if no one else has a better option, and we’ll eat the bill to help the server) and work as a vastly more organized unit as opposed to the current random madness and internal bickering that has lead to several defeats.
We could discuss command structure, objectives, etc as we are open minded. We aren’t seeking to lead though will if we must. Rather we would like to contribute all we can to Sorrow’s Furnace victory and see this as the best option currently.
Any guild leaders or officers of Sorrow’s Furnace willing to discuss this option may respond to this thread and I will PM you our Vent information and we can hash out a time to get together and discuss the details.
Thank you and enjoy your Sunday.

A small introduction to Hakaishin Officers.
Site: http://www.hakaishinlegion.com
Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/HakaishinLegion
The Hakaishin has existed since 2004 and has since that time maintained a somewhat small, though very tightly knit and active family community (by family I mean close friends, as our sense of humor rarely hints at “family-oriented”). We believe we would rather have 20 good and active people we enjoy playing with than 200 people we don’t know/don’t care about any day.
With that said, this post is not for mass-recruitment. We are only inviting a small number of slots to maintain that small tight family atmosphere. If it is something that interests you… if you don’t want to just be “part of the zerg” and in a guild that cares strongly about each of its individual family, then look no further.
So what do we expect of our members?
Guild leadership is made up almost exclusively of both active duty and former military (myself included). That said, we are very organized, particularly in PvP and dungeons. Each member is expected to be capable of both taking instructions and (constructive) criticism as well as giving it when necessary.
As a tightly-knit community, we also prize voice communication. Ventrilo participation will be a must.
Activity is a no-brainer.
We’ve an odd sense of humor collectively (that’s what you get when you’ve a guild lead by a bunch of grunts and sergeants). If you’re easily offended, you may not want to apply.
To join, you may either respond to this thread, PM me directly, hop on our Vent and scream at us (info is on our website), or visit our website and register for our forum.
Thank you and enjoy your Sunday.

I understand your points, Blitz.
But that said, I’m also going to assume you are not an artist. You’ve a lack of creative flare that would be otherwise necessary for the idea of recruitment using a post that is properly adorned with videos of your guild’s play, images produced by your guild’s artists, etc.
You lack the understanding of using integrated syndication for a knowledge base, such as the official wiki or the GW2DB as my wife and I had done with our site, making it very easy to openly post builds that can be discussed on-page with readily available tooltips that are maintained up to date with the game itself. The way it is now, if you wanted to discuss a build, you’d have to open a new tab, travel to the external link where the build is maintained (after following several otherwise needless steps), hope that the database the build is posted on is up to date, and constantly swap back and forth between the build and forum just to discuss highlighted points.
If you wanted to post information on leveling a craft, you’d have to post several dozen links in the same post to external sources, whereas a syndicated database would be readily available on that post with tooltips that are up to date. Completely asinine.
And those are just a couple common examples. I’ve done it securely on my site… surely if my wife and I can, ArenaNet’s and NCSoft’s core of engineers could surely outwit us, at least I would think.
God forbid you go through a screenshot or fan art thread. EVERY single post if you wanted to window shop imagery would be a minimum of one external link. That’s akittennightmare for both the artist and user.
If what you say is true, why boast the features of Textile or BBCode without adding the notation of, “Oh, by the way, more than 70% of the features of these two script addons are disabled. Here’s a list of the functions we’ve killed that you may not use on our forum:”
With respect… I’m not restricted my butt.
If you believe a site or forum can be maintained securely only with the sacrifice of these features, then your understanding of web security and site development both are limited. I apologize if that sounds insulting, but it is only true and I see little reason to sugar-coat it.
(edited by Enerjak.2475)
Well Hell… take the freedom and creativity for recruitment threads, sharing screenshots or other media, walkthrough and help information for fellow players, sharing of adequate build information with helpful imagery, etc completely away why doncha… ArenaNet promotes its own artwork to great effect, God forbid we do the same…
(edited by Enerjak.2475)
I understand the signature is text-only and 100 characters per line.
However, I am unable to get either Textile or BBCode to work on posts themselves. I’ve tried disabling Textile and using BBCode, but no avail. I’ve tried leaving Textile enabled, an no avail.
An example in BBCode…
