Spinal Blade upgrade slot

Keep in mind that at Stage 2 (2 blades), the Spinal Blades are a level 40 item. You can only put upgrades with a level 40 or lower requirement on them, and only of certain types (Jewels should work, though not raw gem pieces, as well as Marks and Talismans (Medallions are too high a level)).

Edit: Raw gemstones do, in fact, work (though the equivalent jewel will get you more stats, so you shouldn’t generally use them on a backpiece).

While I am unaware of any official comments on it (there may well be some I am unaware of, though), I don’t think anyone won’t agree that it’s a bug. I, for one, am somewhat hopeful that it gets fixed in the patch. Given that they’re already reworking how minis function, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think they might have cleaned up some related unintentional functionality.

Stuck at 99% Map Compl

You’ll never manage to take out a tower, let alone a keep or castle, alone, unless luck is spectacularly on your side. Given that you’ve been through ~8 different matchups now and have never once seen the point in question under your control, that’s apparently not the case. Really, your best bet is to just wait until either your world’s color matches up with the “natural” color of the point. Towers and even keeps can flip frequently, but unless you’re getting demolished in the matchup, you should at least take the point back with some regularity. If you need something in Stonemist, in particular, you need only to wait for a mathup when your server is doing reasonably. More often than not, there will be somewhat frequent attempts to take the castle, and some will inevitably succeed. Just keep an eye on the maps and wait for your color to own the castle.

As a side note, your server ought to be a different color most weeks, so make sure you’re looking at the right color when you’re checking for who owns what.

So maybe d/cing players doesn’t fall under the umbrella of special commands on live servers….

Employees can also be kitten hats.

I’m not sure what’s going on in those pictures.

EDIT: I’m assuming he froze them into place.

My read on it is that the Anet person was just trash-talking or otherwise yelling at them, not that they actually did anything.

I’m more interested in seeing how finished the Kodan are as a race. Hopefully, we’ll get them as playable too

That’s actually just using a tonic transformation (Kodan use the Norn model, so they can /dance, but parts of their armor does some really weird stuff when they do). They aren’t anything close to finished or playable.

I can corroborate some parts of the story: Specifically that there were dancing bears, that someone (presumably the OP) was standing in the middle, that the bears were okay with him being there, and that someone with an Anet tag was complaining about him ruining their shot. I wasn’t paying close enough attention to notice when and if he got dc’d, let alone whether it was deliberate or a coincidence, but here’s the screenshot I got of the incident.

How start The Nightmare Unveiled?

The Tower of Nightmares achievement, as have all recent ones, actually requires you to do daily achievements to get it, so there’s actually no way to complete it without those even while the Nightmare Unveiled was available. (Incidentally, I think this is also a bad decision, since it leaves latecomers unable to get the achievement, but that’s both a different topic and something I feel less strongly about). It makes the achievement slightly harder to get, but that’s not really worth much ire. It’s the (unnecessary) removal of story elements that gets me.

I’m disappointed by this too. Especially with the Tower of Nightmares content still going on, having the story behind it locked away because I got to it late is a bit of a letdown. It doesn’t make the meta-achievement significantly harder to get with the dailies, but it does make the release a bit less fun.

SAB Weapons (in game) are frustrating

I can only assume that somewhere in worlds 3 and 4, they’ll give us additional bomb and slingshot options. But for now, I really wish you could just use the skill by pressing the button. (Also, the whip is super erratic about whether it targets what I have targeted or where I’m looking. Quite annoying)

Spoiler tagging everything, because this really is more fun to do it yourself, but here’s what I’ve gleaned.

To start the sequence, you have to finish World 2 on normal mode. Then, go to the World 3 house and talk to the genie. He’ll give you a code and tell you to use it on the console to “win” the Super Adventure Box. Go where he said, use the code, and play out the cutscene/instanced event. Afterward, you can ask Moto about it, where he’ll deny everything.

As best I can tell (from the banter and the short story posted a while back), the four Asura there are Moto’s old krewe. Moto did something (a prank? just having too grand a vision for Adventure Box technology?) that made the Krewe kick him out. Presumably, the SAB is based on their (non-super Adventure Box) work, and they’re awfully bitter about his success, probably in part because of whatever problems caused Moto to get kicked out, and possibly due to “stolen” technology.

Nice Scoop, worth 325 baubles?

Dig spots seem to have the same yeild, but it occasionally digs up a 5-bauble bauble instead of a single bauble when you dig in random places.

(Plus, of course, it counts for the upgrade achievement)

Being an avid jumping puzzle enthusiast, I loved the first iteration of the Super Adventure Box from the word “go”. After playing around with World 2, it’s been far more frustrating than anything else. A good part of this was during the rapids, fighting the knockback bug which is apparently being fixed, so I’ll try and look at the rest with fresh eyes.

First and foremost, the issue is length. That’s not to say more content is a bad thing, but the lack of break points makes for a frustrating experience. Each zone of World 2 could easily have been a world of its own, from start to finish. The different zones of World 1 provided a nice break point, a place not too far back you could start if you had to leave, wanted to take a break, or just didn’t have enough baubles for a continue coin when you died. The length of World 2 zones is nothing short of punishing. As knowledge of dig spots propagates, the last problem will certainly be alleviated (The natural baubles in the world are nowhere near enough to keep up with the death rate throughout World 2), but it still punishes players for not having an hour or two to set aside for beating a zone. This is especially true of Zone 2, with the push puzzle and the gong run that require an inordinate amount of slow, methodical play to complete, but I confess I have not yet find the eagle, so this is likely not as big an issue as it seems.

Tied into this is the requirement to farm baubles for items. While it’s true that many games make you save up to buy things, I’ve never before encountered one that didn’t give you the opportunity to do so. World 1 gave you the only strictly necessary item (the candle) for free. World 2 makes you quit the level and lose all of your progress (which can be several hours of painful platforming your first time through) if you find out you’re missing something. Short of digging 400 times in hopes of churning up random baubles, or chancing on one of the treasures (Which I, so far, have had no luck with uncovering. There may be a lot more baubles in World 2, but the levels are so much longer the density certainly isn’t any greater), there’s no good way to progress, especially having spent most or all your baubles on continues.

The difficulty is definitely up there, but the enemies aren’t much of a problem once you learn their tricks. Strangely, I never had a problem with the piranha house, but the difficulty of other problem sections goes down a lot the second run when you’re not losing lives finding paths. A notch down on the difficulty of the extreme parts is definitely warranted, but I think you’ve got that covered.

Token Wallet! Thank you a-net!

If I were to hazard a guess, I would say they’re probably rigging the wallet to use the current Bank assets. So the Bank itself will no longer be able to exist, because the Bank is basically going to be turned into the Wallet and made to automatically receive and store all gold from the account.

They can’t keep the Bank and add completely new assets to the game for the Wallet because they don’t want to tamper with the core of the game and risk causing major issues.

Don’t know how accurate my assumptions are. Probably not very, given my lack of programming experience. But the main point being if they say they can’t do it, then there’s surely a reason for it.

Well im not really a programmer either but that would be my guess for why they can’t have both.

I don’t see why gold has to be included in this wallet update, it wouldn’t(theoretically) be hard to omit the gold portion of the wallet but keep the karma, laurels, gems, tokens, etc etc part of the wallet the same. It just has an air of “we’ve gotten this far it’s too much of a hassle to try a rework” about it.

Imo they should announce major changes before they’re a week out of implementing them to get a solid feedback of the concerns raised and have plenty of time to do a rework before it hits the servers.

To answer this (and every other “I don’t see why they can’t change it in X way”) concern: Because it is, quite simply, impossible.

I’m not a programmer, and I’m certainly not privy to the development of the game, but this feature has to have been in the works for weeks if not months. They are COMPLETELY overhauling the system used for currencies. I don’t even want to THINK about how much code was involved in doing that, but it’s a LOT. To change any part of it, plus testing it to work out the bugs, would take many MORE weeks of delaying the system’s implementation (if it could even be extricated from the rest of the update, which is by no means assured). A system which, I might remind you, is a strict upgrade to the vast majority of players.

While I agree that having the personal bank remain would have been good for safety reasons, from a development standpoint, it’s redundant, so I can see why it’s removed. Could they bring it back? Yes, but doing so would take a lot of man-hours, and in the end, it wouldn’t benefit most players greatly.

This is doubly applicable for those who want to keep each character’s gold separate. I can sympathize with this desire, even though I’ve given up that pursuit myself in this game, for various reasons. However, adding back in an option to keep wealth separate would not only require completely reworking the entire currency system—again—but it would do so for a feature that would only be used by a tiny minority of players who want to make the game more challenging for themselves.

I know it doesn’t really help anyone who thinks it “should” have been done a particular way that works better for them, but any changes to fix the minor shortcomings of the new (and vastly improved) system will probably be a long time coming, if they ever decide they’re worth adding at all.

Had the same issue here. I was at 4/5 for the title prior to Phase 4, with all of the available achievements maxed. When I logged in in the LA plaza, I got “Attend the Party”, but no “Emmisary of the Mad King”.
