If I may be so bold as to suggest a solution to the problem, I think that making all marks inherently larger and then combining the Unblockable effect with 20% reduced cooldowns might solve a lot of problems! Not just with this bug, but with the class…and the community…and my heart…please…Find it in your heart to do this…I beg you…

Making utility Wells like Well of Darkness and Well of Power last longer makes them stronger. While making Wells of Suffering and Corruption do the same damage in fewer pulses makes them stronger. Unless you want the boon corruption from Corruption, in which case, longer durations are more beneficial. However, Wells of Suffering and Corruption already last a decently long amount of time. They just got buffed in this last patch, in fact. They pulse 7 times now. On a berserker Necro, my Well of Suffering tooltip indicates over 4k of damage over the entire Well’s duration, which is substantial. The only problem Wells have is that they lack mobility, however that can also be viewed as a strength because they can lock down points and force enemies to make a decision: sit inside it and potentially die, or avoid it entirely and lose an advantage over my opponent.

I think Wells are where they need to be. Your ideas are…mmm…disturbingly overpowered. 30s cooldowns? That’s REALLY short cooldowns. Especially for the Well of Darkness and Well of Power.

Ritual of Protection would be permanent protection, which no class to my knowledge can obtain. The extra damage on Focused Rituals is unnecessary. The endurance siphon is equally unnecessary and would imbalance the Necromancer class, making it overpowered. The Ritual Mastery is ludicrous. Reducing cooldowns from an already ridiculously low cooldown and increasing durations which are already ridiculously long? No thank you.

I’m trying to compose my own “State of the Game” post about Necromancers, and I’d like to talk to some other people who have played and enjoyed this class as much as I have. I’ve played Necromancer for 1625 hours, and I cannot say I don’t have complaints. I’d like to consolidate with other Necromancers and discuss some of the things we all can agree need to be improved for this class, reworked, replaced, removed, etc.

I’m thinking DB hasn’t seen a zerg of equal size to theirs before, so they’ve mistaken 20-man zergs in T3 for 40, and are mistaking our 40-50-man zergs for 100+.

And I know they’ve fallen victim to a lot of Judge’s Intervention/Ring of Warding combos in FABL on their stacks.

Trust me, man. I’m in that zerg on a naked lvl 37 Guardian that’s surviving every encounter with TG, NNK, RET, etc. We had anywhere from 40-50 people. It’s a l2play issue.

Open world Duels [Merged]

I know a lot of people have been crying for the potential to duke it out in a duel, and Custom Arenas are your response to that, I’m sure, but what about Open-World Dueling? Custom Arenas don’t have an impromptu element to them that open-world dueling does. In WvW and feel like dueling a friend? Have a disagreement with someone? Eager to prove your build’s effectiveness to somebody? I know I don’t want to leave a WvW map just to set up a custom arena for a quick match. I just want to right-click somebody and challenge them to a duel.

I’m sure some RPers out there would enjoy this feature as well.

I suppose it would still be about a year or more before we see anything implemented if you don’t already have plans for it or haven’t begun work on it, but I was curious about whether or not this is something you’re willing or planning to implement because I’m sure a lot of people would like to see this.

Seriously, Kaineng? TC had SM 90% capped. It was 2800 supplies, aka max upgrades, and you had to ruin that flip. You would have benefitted from that as well, you know. Taking a wooden Stonemist is A LOT easier than taking a fully upgraded Stonemist, and it rewards the same PPT. I really have to facepalm at that. Ridiculous.

Can we please address this? I’d like to make a build for my character, but I find it impossible. I don’t understand this recent obsession you’ve had with RARE drops in this game. Not even for Legendaries or Ascended Gear, but flipping EXOTIC items, which are generally accessible unless you want to think outside the box, apparently. I cannot believe I have come back to this game after MONTHS and there has been no hint of attempts to change this ridiculousness. You people should honestly be GD ashamed.
You want to encourage people to think outside the box and try new builds and do different things with their classes, but you do stuff like this where trinkets cost 50g?!

Someone must have lost their mind when they thought any of this was a good idea. I’m not sure if it’s laziness, sadism, or ignorance that has gotten it this far, but seriously READ THIS POST. I’m getting truly sick of these stunts you’re pulling, ArenaNet, and I’m tired of seeing you making 0 changes to them for months and months. Really? I know there’s Invul Finishing in the game with Mist Form or Elixir S, but Vengeance? Really? Is this an oversight or did somebody at ArenaNet HONESTLY think this was a good idea? A Warrior can down you with Rocks and Hammers and then Vengeance, go Invulnerable for 3 seconds or whatever the duration is (Long Enough to Ignore my Fear and then Finish me) and Finish you.

I’ve never felt so cheated in my entire time playing this game than being beaten in a 1v1 like that. As if Vengeance wasn’t OverPowered enough, they’re actually able to invul finish from a downed state, which is impossible for every other class.

Please reconsider this design choice in your December 14 Update. Thank you.

I honestly don’t know how this was overlooked and not solved 3 months into the game since it’s a stat set in dungeon armors and sPvP amulets, but there are no good ways to obtain trinkets with Precision, Toughness, Condition Damage, and even if you can manage to find a Rare drop in Fractals now, it’s rare and not exotic first of all, and, second of all, there’s no upgrade components with the same stats to actually put in trinkets themselves.

I guess I’m not allowed to play Condition Damage Necromancer in PvE? It’s honestly pretty enraging and I would really hope to see a legitimate fix to this problem as soon as possible. You decided to make exotic trinkets generally only reasonably obtainable through crafting, and then you don’t even offer the full spectrum of stat combinations that you support in sPvP and dungeon sets. I’m literally speechless at this.

My suggestion would be to either add trinkets with stats that can’t be crafted to the dungeon merchants, or to add crafting recipes for trinkets with stat combinations that already exist.

Whatever you do, do it soon…PLEASE.

How One-Time Events SHOULD be Conducted

So, I’m one of the people who missed the event because I had things to do in real life. I come back, get on my computer, hop on ventrilo and Guild Wars 2 and hear about the precursors that were essentially “handed out” to people who completed the event.

No precursor for me, I guess. I know there was a chance, but that’s better than 0% chance because I couldn’t attend. Most people aren’t going to make excuses for a one-time event when you expect the event weapon skins as a reward or something silly like that, and if you want to see any ending cutscenes or such, 50 people will upload them to Youtube. So what takes precedence? Real life.

There are obvious issues with this:
1. People can, will, and did miss it for the slightest excuses because you can’t really say “I’m not coming to work because Guild Wars 2 is hosting the finale to their one-time event.”

2. People who did miss it can’t repeat it for obvious reasons of allowing precursors to be farmable at that point, since they’re not account-bound or anything.

There are other, and better, ways to execute these things. The best one I can think of is to make the Monthly Achievement rewards have a chance of a precursor. You could have even added an Ancient Karka Slain 1/1 achievement to it.

This addresses every issue involved…
The event can be made to repeat so that anyone who misses it can come back later.
The precursors aren’t farmable because the events are repeatable.
And finally, something I’m sure a handful of people did: Jump between overflows to farm it regardless of it being a one-time event. That would be taken out of the equation because monthly achievement are account-wide and a one-time thing for each month.

That’s my suggestion on how to conduct your events in the future; unless you can think of a better way. Best of luck to you.

The prices for precursors dropped, at least, but it’s still a lot of money. I think I’m going to go cry into my pillow now.

When you’re level 80 with full exotic gear and full traits in lower level zones, you will automatically be approximately 5 levels higher than all mobs anyway, which, in Guild Wars 2, is a massive difference.

Transparency for Listing and Transaction Fees

I’m not going to bother making another post about why I think these fees are pointless after the last one was closed, but I would at least like somewhere, either on the Guild Wars 2 website, or in the BLTC in-game window, to list current listing and transaction fees. It appears to me that I’m being charged for a ~16.67% transaction fee when selling things, which is up from 10%. That’s a total fee of ~21.67% for everything I sell.

It’s already bad that I have to suffer because of attempts to combat gold-selling and bot-farming by limiting the power sellers have on the market, I don’t need to be left wondering how much money I’m even making when I try to participate in the economy. I’m sure you can at least empathize with me on that.

Also, should someone from ArenaNet decide to respond, I’m also curious if Previewing is currently under development for the Trading Post and whether or not it will be implemented before the end of the year. It kinda sucks not having that. Thanks!

Preventing People from Capturing in WvW and YOU

No. It’s not an exploit. It’s an in-game mechanic. Also, you shouldn’t use the term bug if you have no idea what it means.

This is something that is extremely easy to counter, you simply have to use your brain.

I’ve already explains how it’s easy to spot somebody because they’re forced to give themselves away when they attack with Cloak and Dagger.

As for the performance thing, I don’t get a lot of lag in WvW because I’m on a good system and I maintain my framerate. If somebody can’t, they wouldn’t be in WvW. My friend gets 4-6 FPS in WvW so she doesn’t participate except in small groups sometimes. Because it’s impossible to play in a zerg. I know I’m not the only person with a good system and players can’t differentiate who does and does not have a good system, so it’s not an exploit no matter how you look at it.

Stealth is not permanent. There’s a moment between the stealths. Also, you give yourself away very obviously. Players from Fort Aspenwood are getting better and better at countering it now after experiencing the trick enough times. You simply have to adapt, and you can.

If you don’t have a good enough computer to compete in WvW, that’s your problem. If you’re not intelligent enough to counter it, that’s your problem. No matter how you look at it, it’s not an exploit.

@Nevron No. You didn’t read the part I said about how it was witnessed by someone from Blackgate doing it first, which is where the idea came from.

@Scyntrus Cloak and Dagger requires you to attack a person, meaning if somebody takes damage, they can call it out. Simple counter.

@Lande Capture Circles are typically small except in the case of supply camps, but if all your people group up at the same location, a thief is then required to be near you to Cloak and Dagger to stealth him/herself, so then you simply AoE ontop of yourselves. Simple Counter.

@Godmoney It’s just as easy to counter as it is to do. The people that were being attacked obviously were not paying any attention. Their inability to realize what was happening is not the fault of the thief or ArenaNet. It’s a very easy thing to counter and requires no changes to be made on the side of the game. It’s a strategy. Learn to counter it or fail. Your choice.

It will become just as common of a practice as sweeping a tower or keep for mesmers. “What’s that? The Capture Bar isn’t increasing? Okay. Pile up and throw down all your AoE.” You might as well say that it shouldn’t be allowed for thieves to stack stealth in shadow refuge behind the building at Golanta to prevent a cap. If you don’t check there, you fail. You have to adapt in WvW. That’s the point.

What else can counter this? Necromancers with their marks. You can tell where the thief is because they will trigger the marks when they step in them. Just be smart. If you can’t do that, why are you participating in WvW, honestly? I’m not trying to be rude, but it seems silly.

Preventing People from Capturing in WvW and YOU

If any of you have been pinned against Tarnished Coast this week, you may have noticed a couple times that you were prevented from capturing a supply camp or tower by one or more of our players. Are they exploiting? No, they are not. I’m sure many people will rage and scream exploit. Some of the people on our server did too when we were matched against Blackgate and a thief was using the same method of preventing the zerg from capturing a supply camp. A friend of mine came in, saw what the thief was doing, and promptly managed to kill him. He explained to the people in the battlegrounds what the thief was doing and how he countered it, but they flamed him for whatever reason, so I suspect the same rage will be brought to the forums and I intend to stop it right here with this post.

It was actually incredibly genius. The thief would bounce between multiple people, attacking them with Cloak and Dagger (off-hand dagger skill slot 5) to stealth himself the moment that his stealth fell off of him to avoid acquiring the Revealed debuff.

I’m sure some of you are probably realizing the two immediate problems with this. For one thing, you can simply AoE the capture circle and hope to kill him. Another problem is that he is forced to attack players in order to stealth himself, giving himself away even if he is not seen, on top of the people being unable to capture the point, which should be a dead giveaway.

It’s not hard to counter, but when you don’t know how to counter it or are terrible at attempting to do so, you can have a thief, or even better, up to three thieves, sit in a capture circle at a supply camp and prevent the capture for 10 minutes straight, which I actually witnessed.

Should this be nerfed? Is this an exploit or an oversight? No, it’s not. There are very obvious counters to this and Cloak and Dagger has nothing inherently wrong with it. Just as people would plant mesmers inside towers or keeps to reclaim it after it’s captured by the enemy, you simply have to learn to counter this. It’s a viable strategy and requires no exploiting; only a basic understanding of in-game mechanics. So, before you start screaming for changes or claiming exploits by players and unjustly reporting them, consider that.

Yes, Glyph, that is true. However, you have to keep in mind that portaling people inside of towers/keeps requires that the mesmer already be inside in the first place. THAT is valid. If a group does not sweep the tower/keep for mesmers, then they’ll be at a disadvantage. The Portal ability has around and the portal strategy has been talked about for a long time, long before the game’s release, even by developers themselves. It’s always been considered a valid strategy, even from the moment of its conception, I’m sure.

What’s not valid? The use of Blink to pass through a gate inside of a tower/keep. Yes, it can be done; believe it or not. Ink Shot from underwater to shadowstep onto a wall. Also, the same way that you suggested that I did not know about til now with the Trident, Air 3 ability.

Those are exploits. Nothing should allow a character to be able to bypass the walls or gates of a keep/tower without breaking them down. Again, a Mesmer that has hidden himself inside of a tower/keep and remains undiscovered is not an exploit, but part of the game. They had to take the tower/keep at some point, or at least break inside, in order to gain entry.

Harassment would be a nice one. I’ve seen people who have done things very similar to what you stated, robinsiebler. It’s not particularly vague and includes forms of “abuse” that are non-verbal. I doubt ArenaNet would be particularly welcoming of one person being rude and attempting to take away from another player’s enjoyment of the game, however it is that they would pursue that.

A couple report options I’d like to see added would be Exploiting and Hacking. We know Hacking has been a pretty big thing with WvW recently, and exploiting has been as well. I just reported somebody by the name of Dartaea on Tarnished Coast for using a known exploit with the Ink Shot ability with Thief speargun, but the only option I could really use was Botting.

I don’t think an “Other” option is necessary because it’s too vague and open to interpretation by reporters, but a brief description with a character limit like 50, 100,120, or something like that might be a nice touch when we report. It doesn’t need to turn into a bug report with the level of detail and I understand that having limitless descriptions would make reporting too cumbersome for the people having to cycle through these reports, but something small so I can say “Ink Shot Exploit onto Dreaming Bay Outer Wall” could be of some use to you, I imagine.

I’m from the Tarnished Coast server. This week, I’ve been matched up with Dragonbrand and Crystal Desert, two servers that have a relatively high frequency of hacking.

I’ll briefly state that there has been one incident of hacking from my server (probably under the same mindset that other people who hack on the other servers) where an orb was taken. However, when it occurred, the commander in our borderlands had them reported and reset the orb to let the enemies take it back. We’re completely intolerant of hacking from our server, and we expect other servers to act no differently.

However, it’s only Monday and there have been several accounts of hacking/exploiting. There has been a tower claim by Crystal Desert without any of the walls down or the gate. We also checked for mesmers and none were present. This was at Anzalias, by the way. Either they used the same flyhack that’s been used before for orbs (and that Dragonbrand used in the same day to take an orb, on the first day of the matchup) or a mesmer exploited the blink being able to bypass gates. There’s also another exploit that a Dragonbrand Defender used against us when we owned their orb and had it in the Bay Keep. He used the Ink Shot ability to shadowstep onto the inner walls and attempted to destroy the altar. He was unsuccessful, thankfully.

There have also been incidences of enemies one-shotting. An engineer from Dragonbrand was doing 78k crits on a Hip shot (which was used to wipe an invasion on Valley Keep) and a guardian from Dragonbrand that crit 30-40k on regular swings with a greatsword. While not one-shotting, there have been elementalists that crit for 10-12k using Meteor Shower, which only goes up to 4-6k according to people I’ve talked to. Numerous times, I’ve seen attacks for large amounts from “Unknown.” One was with “Flame Mortar” for 4.7k that was hitting us while we were trying to take Klovan one day. I was just attacked by an Unknown using Splintering Bolt (I assume from Crystal Desert because I’m in Tarnished Coast Borderlands and had 3 trebuchets aimed at them at Dreaming Bay). I was located on the Southwestern cliff, the only spot where trebs can hit Dreaming Bay from within Garrison, very very high up off the ground and unable to be hit by attackers, but I started to randomly take damage for 5k from Unknown using Splintering Bolt.
In case you’re wondering how I know the numbers and attackers, you can check it in the Combat Chat Log. If you’re in WvW, I suggest you check it occasionally.

Another incident that occurred today was that Crystal Desert hacked the orb out of the Garrison in Dragonbrand Borderlands. The Garrison was never breached or claimed by Crystal Desert and the orb, in an entirely linear path, moved from the Garrison to the Hills Keep within a few seconds. It’s all completely blatant and frequent.

The amount of hacking I’ve seen is absolutely ridiculous and pathetic. People on my server are discouraged from playing against hackers, where any progress we make can easily be undone in a matter of seconds because other people aren’t willing to play fair. I’m sure the other servers aren’t happy about their hackers because they’re going to cause the entire server to be punished, and it’s not fair to them, but my server certainly hasn’t done anything to deserve this.

I know the guild I’m in, Everything Purple, which you may or may not be familiar with, and other guilds like PiNK and TV, would never tolerate hackers or exploiters. If we saw anyone doing that, we’d report them on the spot, just as Commander Commander Jadon from PiNK did, and call them out in team chat. I know I’d personally run them out of the Battlegrounds/Borderlands and anyone who defends them.

Anyway, that’s about all I have to say about that. I hope this all gets sorted out because I’m sick of it. Something like this would make me quit the game. WvW holds the most longevity for this game in my mind, and having to deal with hackers and exploiters on a regular basis makes it unenjoyable.

Thief Underwater Shadowstep Exploit

I actually tested this out after hearing about it in team chat. In the Bay Keep in Borderlands, if you’re inside of the keep’s outer walls, you can actually manage to shadowstep onto the inner wall using the fifth ability on the thief’s speargun and get inside. That explains how a thief managed to infiltrate the keep before the gate or any wall was down, and damaged the altar.

EDIT: I’d also like to include what Glyph pointed out to me that an elementalist can also exploit into a tower/keep from the water with the use of the third ability on the Elementalist’s Trident Air Attunement Skillset.
Also, it occurred to me that Mesmers can also blink through gates to gain entry into towers/keeps, so those also need to be fixed urgently.

If you don’t focus on the same stats, you’re kittening yourself. Regardless of the situation.

Also, it’s not a justification for not having complete sets for people who want to focus on stats they deem useful, whether or not you agree that it’s good/bad for your class and/or playstyle.

If you want to mix stats, feel free. I, however, do not want to. The point of this thread is not about whether or not you like that they don’t have complete sets, it’s that they shouldn’t. You may like to be forced into diversifying your stats, but I don’t because, in my experience, it’s bad for you. There really isn’t a need for there to be the same pieces of armor with the same stats but a different rune depending on which temple you visit and not have 6 pieces in total with the same stat bonuses.
Like I said before, I’m most likely going to have to find a different rune anyway because, out of the 49 different runes that exist, only 6 are actually available through these vendors. Chances are that you won’t use the armor for the runes. You’ll use it because you have a lot of karma built up and what else would you spend it on except for exotic armor?

Using different runes isn’t the point because I’ll probably have to do that anyway. The point stands that, if I lack the appropriate stats on one piece of armor, I’m failing to min-max my build. It might be a small loss, but, in the scheme of things, it’s a loss nonetheless.

TL;DR – There’s no reason to have 4 or 5 pieces with specific stats and not the 5th or 6th piece. You might like to be “forced” to kitten yourself(diversify your stats), but I don’t and I shouldn’t be “forced” to.

@FateOmega Hmm…I don’t know. It seems…dumb, for lack of a better word. They really shouldn’t be putting those armors out there if people can’t even get the stats they want from them. They’re already forced to combine different runes even if you like the rune of Lyssa, Grenth, Balthazar, Melandru, Dwayna, or Infiltration because each set doesn’t have the same stats. So, they really shouldn’t be pulling anything like that. I’m convinced someone goofed. Or rather, I’m trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.

@Draeka On some pieces, maybe, but not all the pieces will have the same stats within one armor category. In fact, none of them has consistent stats. You have to go to each temple or the Gate to Arah to mix and match pieces(which is fine because you have to go to all those events to unlock, presumably), and even then there may not exist a complete set with the stats you want.

I’m looking on the wiki right now, and according to what’s there, light medium and heavy armors are all missing either one or two pieces from a +power, +vitality, +toughness stat combination on these armors.

Many of you may have probably visited Orr and seen the karma merchants at the 5 Temples and the Gates to Arah that sell the Exotic Armor sets for 42k karma per piece. You may have also noticed that the sets do not have consistent stat bonuses. For some, this may be bothersome, but I’m sure it’s a clever attempt by developers to encourage players to tackle and experience each world event (though the bugged ones can prevent that). That’s fine with me because the runes aren’t necessarily ideal for your class build anyway. However, I wonder if someone may have screwed up along the way. Certain stat bonuses aren’t given across the entire set. For example, among all the 6 different sets, light armor wearers are deprived of 2 pieces of armor (boots and chestpiece) that have the +Precision, +Toughness, +Condition Damage stats, which is ideal for my necromancer.
You might tell me to just craft a set of armor if I can’t find those stats, but, first of all, I can’t craft those stats. Carrion is the closest, but not ideal. Second of all, it’s not a complaint about not being able to find a set with those stats, it’s about developers not including a complete set. I looked up on the wiki and found that other instances of incomplete stat sets occur with heavy armor wearers and medium armor wearers alike. Did somebody goof or was this intentional? Because it seems very silly to me.

P.S. Also, the wiki may be wrong because I’m currently forced to rely on it to tell me what the stats are for the Armageddon set, since the Balthazar event is bugged on top of being near-impossible since 90% of people (on my server) can’t do it properly.

I’m trying to participate in WvW with my guild, but I can’t because I keep getting kicked out of the game for no apparent reason. Once while in Eternal Battlegrounds, so I had to queue back up and it has taken hours, obviously, and then again hours after waiting in the queue, so now I have to queue again with no hope of getting in anytime soon. This is absolutely stupid. I’m not losing internet connection or being kicked for inactivity. I’m just getting kicked out with error 7:11:3:189:101…This is incredibly aggrivating as you can imagine.

The Trading Post: A Buyers' Market?

Hello, fellow Guild Wars 2 addicts. This post is partially a discussion and partially a suggestion because I want to hear feedback, but it’s also something I currently feel strongly about and would like to see within the game.

If any of you are like me, you love the trading post. Selling items becomes a lot better and more convenient with the “Match the highest buyer,” “Match the lowest seller,” and “Match your lowest offer” options. The trading post was very well-designed and made for ease of access. In that, it succeeds. However, currently there is a heavy imbalance between buyers and sellers. Sellers are at a heavy disadvantage because of the listing costs whenever you want to post an item to sell.

First of all, please understand that my problem isn’t that “listing prices are too high” or “listing prices shouldn’t exist!” While, without a direct trade system, the convenience of the trading post is completely replaced by its necessity, the listing price seems like merely a mechanic from the past, but, regardless, I’m not suggesting it be entirely removed.

The problem with the listing price is simply that the user-friendly approach on the trading post has made it easier for people to sell items at lower prices than their competitors. Is this a problem? Absolutely not. Supply and Demand, after all. I’m a huge supporter. The problem is most obvious when you look at high-value, slow-selling items such as the Rare insignias you have to make between 375-400 crafting discipline. The insignias sell for a fine price, allowing you to finally make a profit finally throughout all the time you spent crafting. However, when you add in people who want to sell lower than you in order to sell faster (which incidentally would not work because the item naturally sells slowly) and no way for sellers to adjust their prices without having to remove their offers and resubmit their product, thus having to spend more money on listing costs, it makes it harder for sellers to make a profit, while setting buying offers incurs no such cost, shifting the power from sellers to buyers.

Honestly, I want to see the ability by people to adjust their prices after they’ve submitted their items for sale. If they raise their prices, they’ll have to pay the listing cost for the amount raised. If they lower their prices, they’ll pay nothing, but also get nothing in return, as is normal.

So, that’s my suggestion. Mind you, I went to college for economics, so if you need any credibility on my knowledge about the subject, there it is. I look forward to your responses and opinions on the subject. Thank you!
