I’m not a part of this whole exploit argument but from reading I just wanted to point out one thing.

No one has pointed the finger at Kalkz saying he was the exploiter, if I am wrong then please point me to the correct post. But from what I’ve seen, everyone has said “A mesmer” or “The mesmer”. So why is all the BP here assuming the exploiting is being pointed at Kalkz?

That’s all I wanted to point out, carry on.

What part of any of my posts was I chest thumping? The only thing I said was that he lost more to then just a Mesmer. It is the truth, is it not? He openly admitted to losing to Archer as well.
I gave him credit to the wins he had, saying that there was some wins within his duels. I’m giving the truthful statement from someone who was there and watched all of the duels from start to finish, even some of the random ones that he wasn’t involved in.
Not once have I come in here bragging about something, saying he is bad, or that he sucks and he should quit playing. Not once have I come in here saying that I’m almighty and would crush him or anyone under my foot. He would probably beat me in a 1v1. (Though I’m a more team oriented player, I’m not fond of 1v1’s)
I have not challenged anyone to anything.

Aaaaand the reason for that is because I apparently mixed you up with Amins’ post. Whoops, my mistake, sorry!

A Mesmer should never brag about beating a Warrior, ever. That would be like a Thief bragging about beating a Ranger, or a Necromancer bragging about beating a Guardian.

He lost to more then just a mesmer.

If you’re anything but a Necromancer, Ranger, or Engineer dying to a Warrior, I probably wouldn’t tell anyone. Now that the game has progressed, and people have learned to dodge, the Warrior is a non-issue for more experienced players. I could imagine novice, or upleveled players having issues with them, but not anyone who has played the game longer than two months.

I’ll give a hint to a Warriors weakness, Conditions. <winks>

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/news/1077-community-highlight-of-guild-wars-2-pvp-survey/

I wish this game was balanced around 1v1, because that is virtually all I do. I’ve been leveling/gearing my wifes Necromancer the last two weeks with an AoE Marks/Wells build. As usual, I’m solo at least 70% of the time, unless I see gold crossed swords, then I go collect a lot of badges. That’s mostly in green armor, with some rares. <chuckles>

Last night I didn’t see any extraordinary skill running solo on a class/spec not designed for it. For that matter, I only seen maybe 7 solos, and the rest were large groups 13+ running around, with one exception early morning hours. Pk had a group in ARBL taking camps, and I ran my necro butt all over trying to stop them. They killed me two, or three times, until finally engaged them north camp with roughly four of us, and we wiped them. They had a kitten hard to kill Mesmer who was fun to fight, and a Guardian/Warrior who hit like a truck.

All in all, every server has its novice players, and its experienced players. It’s not like all of us are in T1, or top players in sPvP, so bragging about senseless bull is nothing more than mental comedy. <smiles>

Two of the classes he also lost too was a Ranger and Engineer.
I know very well the weakness of a warrior, I have a necromancer myself and find them easy pray. I have no need of any school lessons, though I thank you for the education attempt.

I have not bragged once, so if that last part is referred to me, then you’re a fair bit out of line. If it was general context, then continue on.

I myself have never claimed to be a 1v1 master, nor have I come onto these forums thumping my chest. In fact I don’t really post here all that often anyways. I prefer to keep the fighting on the field.
I was simply stating that he lost more to then just a mesmer, as I was there watching all of the fights. He did lose the majority of the ECHO fights, but he did win a couple.
In the end it’s his choice to play a warrior, so he should know what to be careful of.

@Walabone: I said nothing about the fights, I was simply confirming that a statement is correct and not mislead. I have beaten every class myself as I’m sure everyone has, so you have no need to get so defensive at me.

No need to take my general statements personal. I’m just pointing out that the current state of the game does not favor Warriors, and I give props to any of them who continue to play their Warrior, instead of you know a Thief, Elementalist, or Mesmer. Considering how easy it is to level, and gear up in this game, there is something to be said when a player chooses to stay with a class that is harder to play in a PvP environment than other classes that greatly out performs them.

I just find it odd that instead of; *good game, had fun, nice try, people have to demean, demoralize (even though that isn’t what is happening), or goad the people they’re fighting.

I guess I expect a more mature atmosphere that I experience playing football, basketball, boxing, etcetera where good sportsmanship, win or lose is the norm, and forget this is the internet even though I’ve been online gaming since ‘95’, and that immature unsportsmanlike conduct is the norm. That is my fault though. <grins>

I understand what you mean, sportmanship- is something that doesn’t exist when everyone has a mask and isn’t in person. I did take a small offense from what you said, but that was my own fault. I’m so used to reading these forums so full of anger and trash talk that I easily assumed someone was going to do the same here to my post and put words in my mouth. In some cases I was correct.

Respect is something that you almost never see anymore, even out in reality. Everyone has my respect until they lose it.

(lololol, I had to put a dash after sportsmanship because even with the spaces it spells a naughty word and it turned it into kitten.)

The only thing you’ve seemingly bragged about is Archer’s achievement over Walabone, I won’t ask why. You definitely seemed to be thumping your chest over Walabone’s loss as well, cause I doubt that would be considered sportsmanlike conversation over duels, but maybe that’s just me? Seriously though if you want people to duel you or your guild being a jerk about it is NOT good advertising.

And the death ratio joke has run its course to the point where it’s now 3:150.

Good fight at AR Garrison just now, ninja’d from the back. : )

On a side note-
I’m really enjoying this match up so far, AR is coming in a lot stronger then I was expecting and Borlis came off much stronger then last week.
If things stay the way they are now, this match up is gonna be a blast.

@video
-when playing a support role using staff/hammer, no point to switch weapons so much mid fight to staff.
-WAR was the ones out numbered by ECHO, just your people were dying so quickly, it would instantly turn into a 5v1 as the rest of your 6 dudes were dead somewhere.
-And ECHO, this video isn’t an attack on you, your crew just happen to be the people we steam rolled constantly last night, i’m thinking nearly 100% of the time we engaged each other with that melee train, you guys were pretty much dead.
-At the end of the recording we took out like 15-20 players that were beating down the door on our tower.

I’m not a part of ECHO, but by watching the video. The first two fights against them, they were clearly out numbered. There was only four of them, counted them in the first fight and in the second fight it was the same exact group, it’s not too hard to count. I didn’t pay much attention after the first two fights, as it was mostly pugs after that.

May I ask why you were running Hold the Line and Retreat? Retreat gives Aegis but it’s got a terrible cooldown for just that, swiftness isn’t all that fantastic mid fight. Hold The Line isn’t too bad I guess, but the duration on it only makes it good at stopping spikes (Though if you’re speced into shouts turning conditions into boons, then those two skills would work great, especially with Soldier’s Runes). JI probably would have done much better for you since you were using a hammer though, combining that with Ring of Warding is very good, especially if your team is trained to collapse on and nuke a ring when it goes down. Staff is good to switch into mid combat as well, the 12 stacks of might plus the 2k+ heal is good at keeping your people alive and increasing pressure on the enemy, line of warding can really keep them scattered if placed right and Orb of Light is another good heal and AoE damage. As a guardian myself, I rely on my team to get the kills while I lock the enemy down and keep my team alive.

Though in the end it all comes down to playstyle, if it works for you, then by all means keep it going. Just thought I’d give my two cents.

Do note that Ebay lost WvW Guilds in the last mass transfer before Anet reset the rankings. I’m not making up an excuse for why Ebay is losing, nor am I saying BP got lucky, etc. etc.

But coming into this match up thinking that Ebay is as strong as they were before isn’t accurate. We may have had a 24/7 crew before, but we don’t now. The whining is going to Happen, a higher tier server is dropping because of our loss of numbers and the ones who stayed aren’t used to it.

I simply request that you don’t subject Ebay to the few whiners on this forum. (4-5 people maybe?) There is still a lot of respectful players here on Ebay and I’m sure we would not want to be grouped up in the same catagory with those full of disrespect.

Just know there is still plenty of people on Ebay who respect others, know how to have a good time, and understand how warfare and WvW works. You must do what it takes to win, that’s how war is. Ebay isn’t as great as it once was, but that doesn’t mean we’re out of the fight yet.

Congrats to BP on taking the lead, but don’t think it’s over yet. We still have over half the week ahead of us.

Condimancer - What Rune do you use?

I have a condition necromancer and I’m a bit curious as to what runes people usually put on their armor. Currently I’m stuck between Thief, Afflicted, and Nightmare, and I’m not sure which to use but I heard the Nightmare Rune’s condition duration buff wasn’t working properly. Can anyone confirm that?

Anyways, which runes do you use and why? I’d like a little more information on how well each rune seems to work before I go spending money on them.

I know you love me Anet but....

Stealth is not a thief class mechanic, “Steal” is.
Mesmers have access to Stealth as well.

Comparing DS to Stealth is silly.
You should be comparing it to Steal if you’re going for “Class mechanics”

Can I just say that I completely disagree with this topic?
DS has many uses and even for conditionmancers, Does DS2 give Bleeding? Why yes, yes it does.
DS3 gives Fear? Why yes, yes it does. Fear is a fantastic interrupt and DS3 has no cast time either.

You’re complaining about not being able to use a heal in DS, have you ever noticed that while in DS all your skills on Cooldown (Weapon and Utility) can finish their cooldown while in DS?
Try using your heal and then entering DS, by the time you come out it will be recharged, if not almost. As a conditionmancer myself, it’s the perfect tool to not only CC my foe with Chill and Fear, but still apply some bleeding, not to mention it’s a perfect mechanic to come back from near death with the above tactic I just spoke of.

DS is way more useful then just hitting with power hits, try using it to close a gap from a fleeing enemy as DS2 pulls you too them and chills them (Oh did I mention it bleeds?) or if you need to flee just pop into DS, hit DS2 to chill your foe, dodge backwards, hit DS3 once chill runs out. You’d be surprised how much distance you get between yourself and your foe with just DS alone.
Once you’ve gotten your distance, pop back out and continue with your attrition.

DS has many uses, you just need to get creative with it.
I for one, absolutely love it. Necro’s already have Tier 1 HP (Next to warriors) we can easily add another health bar on top of all this.

the downed state!?

ExVoodoo.7586

tPvP is 5v5 I believe. (Which is tournament play)

Anet does read these, but if they took the time to respond to every single one, they wouldn’t have time to work on the game. I’m sure they read it and think about it, but to completely remove the downed state from the game would be a huuuuge game changer and take a lot out of the game.
While they may have thought about it, I’m sure it’s a no. The downed state is such a huge mechanic that they probably would never remove it. I’m sure it took them a lot of work just to make that kind of mechanic in the game in the first place.

Perhaps suggesting some kind of PvP that offers no downed state? Maybe a few servers in the sPvP board that cancel out the downed state for those looking for a more old school type of fight.
I don’t think removing the whole thing would be a good idea as it was a big point that drew a lot of people into the game in the first place.

the downed state!?

The ‘downed state’ itself is not what’s broke. The fact that other people can heal downed players and resurrect defeated players while in combat is the problem… Short example: a group of 25 run across a group of 40 and begin combating each other. Sure by numbers alone, the group of 40 has the odds of winning this ‘fight’. Well this mechanic almost guarantees it now. Hypothetical scenario, those 25 are actually ‘more skilled’ players and take out at least 10 of the larger group. Now it’s tilted more fair to 25 v 30, wont be for long though when 5 or so of those 30 (so it actually may become 25v25 or 25v20 for a moment) ‘bring back’ their 10 downed or defeated ‘buddies’. BAM, now it’s 25 v 40 AGAIN…! So yes, it takes battles/fights that are already outweighed and just outweighs them EVEN MORE…

So the simplest fix wouldn’t be removing the downed state, it’s a nice change to the MMO (like others have said as well). However, I fully support making it so that a player character cannot heal a downed or resurrect a defeated while in ‘combat mode’… That would be the ‘simple fix’. A player cannot waypoint while in combat mode, and you get an error message letting you know such if you try, they should just apply the same to attempting to heal a downed or resurrecting a defeated ‘friend’ while in combat mode… Then the player that’s been downed still has the opportunity to do exactly what the downed state is all about, fight for his/her life!!! It would also tilt the scale back toward balance for the battles that are already imbalanced, just as in my example above.

it is easy to discourage revive, do damage to that downed player spike him hard. Or do AoE damage. I been playing WvWvW lately and personally I have been running with a group of 15 to 18 players and we have come acrossed groups of 20 to 40 and won. Them resing was never a problem as we spiked the downed players, and others AoE’ed them. It is a matter of deterrence, not broken.

Try running with a group of 5 against 20 players and downing 10-12 of them, however the rest of the zerg just resses them up before you can finish them off. Then you will truly understand how i feel.

It’s quite awesome that you can down 10-12 people in a 5vs20, but I’m sorry to say that this game isn’t the same as the 300 movie.

To be honest, that’s just a stupid fight to get into. Running into any kind of zerg with less then half of their players, better yet only a quarter isn’t a smart idea to begin with. Though it’s just a matter of smarts on their side, if they know to keep rezing each other then good for them, they’re using teamwork and teamwork is how you beat people in WvW. I’ve been in WvW and ran with groups of people and no one revives anyone and we eventually get pushed back because of it.

I don’t really think it’s the mechanic that’s broken, just a matter of how team oriented that group is. Just remember that you have the downed state as well, so you can do the same thing under certain circumstances.

We have the skills to beat them if they remove the downed state. We are better players and highly coordinated yet we are unable to beat them all because of this kitten like mechanic. It does nothing but promote zerg beats all philosophy. The mechanic is one of the worst things I have ever had to deal with in any game. I don’t know why anyone would discourage skillfull gameplay by keeping this mechanic.

While I understand your frustration. I think you’re playing the wrong kind of PvP for what you seem to be looking for. While running around a big open map and attacking keeps is all good and fun, it’s a game type based around the efforts of an entire server, which is thousands of players and will eventually equate to a zerg no matter what.

If you want a less Zerg oriented PvP, I’d suggest tPvP or sPvP.

I was talking to a friend about what we thought could be expected for future expansion packs and while it was all just for fun and blow our imagination on something, we came to the idea of what a really clever class could be.
We started off with just thinking about what kind of weapons might be added in the future content, things like Flails, Two handed Axes, Nunchuks, Brass knuckles, and Gauntlets.

After a bit of just letting our imagination run wild, we thought up a class that could take a newer concept to GW2 and it reminded us a little of the assassin from guild wars 1 but with a little bit more of a warrior/beat em up feel to the cake.

We came with a class that we called Brawler and it would focus on weapons that dealt with hand to hand combat.
Brass Knuckles
Spiked Gauntlets
Bladed Bracers
(Gloves with blades on the forearm)
and a few more that has slipped my mind for the time being.

They would wear Medium armor would play similar to how a melee ranger plays but with a lot more options on their play style. Some of their moves doing evade while they activate. They would have a lot of rush down skills but not so much in the options of escape, so instead of them becoming a hit and run sneaky sneaky class, they would rush their opponent in force.

For their special F-Key mechanic, we put together something again similar to the warrior but instead of it being a burst attack, it’s more a build up of strength that can become a short burst of power instead of an attack. You would have 4 bars (Similar to how the adrenaline bars work) and they would build based on you hitting and would lower based on you getting hit. When one bar fills it can’t be dropped below it so once you build up a bar you won’t have to worry about it dropping down.

For every bar filled they would gain a permanent stack of might (Similar to how the Guardian’s Aegis virtue works) adding up to 4 applicable might that they could sustain should they be able to clearly build it up to that point.
The F1 skill being an activation skill and based on how many of those bars are filled up, they could activate it and lose all the build up to gain a few seconds of fury with the current might they had built up. (2 seconds per bar filled)

Example:
Having two bars filled would yield 2 might and activating the F1 would grant you 4 seconds of 2 might and 4 seconds of fury.
While having all four bars filled would grant you 4 might and when F1 is triggered, you’d get 8 seconds of 4 might and fury.

They wouldn’t hit as hard as a thief or warrior without their stacks but could do some decent rush down burst should they have been able to build up their bars. Whether to activate the special ability for a quick burst or to keep it built up for some added over all strength would come down to how the player plays and how good they would be at building it up. (Seeing as it would decrease from taking a hit)
It wouldn’t be wise to throw out all the build up for a short burst if you have trouble getting it up there in the first place, but for those who time their attacks to take advantage of the evasive part of some of their skills and could build it up more easily, they could find ways to work with the short burst that it could offer.

I think this would be a great addition to the classes in GW2 and could take a middle ground between the warrior and thief and ranger(melee) classes. Granting those people who like some concepts of the thief and melee ranger and some of the warrior something to come together on. I personally like how thief plays but I’m not a fan of the initiative mechanic, and melee rangers just lack variety in their melee capabilities. Though I do enjoy the warrior, I feel very single minded when I play it.

It was a simple idea spurred by our random thoughts as we continued to play the game we love. Any feedback on the idea would be awesome.

Thanks for reading!

Edit:
I don’t think a few grapple moves would be a bad idea either, something that stuns your opponent and immobilizes you at the same time. Though I’m sure there are better balancing suggestions out there for that.

Thief has better health syphon than the necromancer.

You can get the Life Steal per hit and the increase 50% effective alone at 15 points. Both the 50% and the Syphon on Crit can be obtained at Tier 1 traits, whichever you prefer more.
Though I have to say going down one tree and doing an all or nothing tends to be the case for most classes, for builds.
The Thief Signet of Malice is a self heal skill, not a utility. They will be sacrificing Shadow Refuge, a potential stealth for it as well as any effective self heal as the activation heal is rather poor.
While most of these are down the blood magic tree, half of them are not required to be level 30 to achieve and are still able to stack them quite effectively. I just don’t think that syphoning should be so easily powered through 1 or 2 traits, especially when Necros already have the potential to increase that almost tenfold through many more traits to add if they like.
If they were to increase the amount that is healed, they would have to remove some of those traits to prevent insane stacking. Especially the 50% effectiveness increase.

I actually don’t see this being much of a problem at all. Necro’s have many ways to syphon HP, not just one.
Not only can the dagger syphon HP, but you can get traits that do the following:

Syphon HP every time you hit
Syphon HP every time you crit
Syphon HP every time your minions hit
Increase HP Syphon effectiveness by 50%
Wells Syphon HP every time they pulse.

Stacking multiple of these traits can give you some impressive self healing/life stealing. If you were to buff them as they are now, Necro’s could stack most of these and become HP regen machines.
Lets not forget about the other self healing traits they have as well, such as getting healed every time a foe you have tagged dies.
A single necro syphon might not do much, but putting some of them together can create some seriously good combos.
Lets not forget the Thief skill is a self heal, they are sacrificing good healing for a small bit of regen and when they use their self heal they are out of that syphon until it recharges. All of these necro skills are traits, meaning they are going to be active 24/7 and I can freely choose my self heal to fit my play style.

As someone who plays a necro myself, I can see why they don’t heal as much. It would be pretty out of control if you stacked most of these with high recovering syphons.

P.S: My syphon per hit alone is about 60-70 (Without the 50% increase). I don’t know how you’re getting only 20-30 per hit. Perhaps Healing Power effects this?
