Rangers spirits and culling option

I don’t like that spirits lose their glow effect when I lower WvW character limit… I think it’s not fair for my spirits to suffer and lose their glow when they are just spells, not other players. It would be nice if you can fix this, it didn’t matter until know, since, well, now my spirits look like mini pale oakhearts. And that is not ok

Honestly OP, if you have the game, try and play it, don’t belive anything people says on this forum, since opinions are subjectiv. Also official/fansite forums are never good place to find info about the game, they are basically what I call internet cesspool
But let’s throw my opinion, cause why not.
I’m still enjoying this game very much and I’ve been playing since first BWE. This game is not for everyone, even thou Anet tries to cater to wide range of audience. If you want traditional MMO like every other on the market, you won’t be happy with gw.
All that being said, just try the game. NEVER trust other people and their OPINIONS, there are no objective reviews, etc… Kitten Gamespot gave 7,5 to Vampire The Masquarade: Bloodlines, and I think that is the best RPG out there

It is if you haven’t even read my post I said WoW or any fist MMO player played, in your and mine case GW1. I’m not throwin wow, anet fanboy anywhere in my post, stop reading between the lines since I’m quite honest person.

Like I said, I love the concept, I don’t like current implementation we had, I even said that in other threads… I even said that in my post with last sentence.
I’ll quit this discussion, I’m not good with them, I’m bad at explaining what I want to say, and it’s obvious neither you or Kichwas understood what I wanted to say.

You’re talking crazy, do you really think they could have made 3 times of current number of zones in 5 years? And all of them to be full of content. And Tyria is anything but small. And there you go again comparing GW2 with WoW, would it be correct to compare Dragon Age to Mass Effect or Skyrim, they are all RPG genre. GW2 isn’t you typical MMO, if you can accept it you can enjoy this game even more. Simple as that.

Let’s face it, with everything said, people want to play WoW(or any other MMO that hey liked) in new skin. People don’t want new experience because they are condition by their first MMO they loved. It’s only logical, and honestly it’s quite a shame people act like this. I feel sorry for Anet devs since they are really trying to cater to everyone while trying to bring new ideas and inovation into pretty stale genre. And this is what I hate the most, people say how they hate WoW, but every feature I see that people want is exactly like in WoW.

Just want to say, ANet I really hope you can pull of this idea, it’s really great concept, but you need to show them(players) that jan,feb,march,april, may updates were just testing phase.

If they do this right, it will be pure win imho. I always disliked how expansions worked for MMO. All of a sudden you would get 15+ new zones, dungeones, etc… ad because of that, zones in before expansion will be left to die for a period of time.
If they can do this, it will add sandbox element to the game, just like EvE, which I think is awesome.

And best thing I read in that interview, is that living world team will have 3-4 motnhs to make new content compared to 6-8 weeks they had untill now is quite reassuring.

I’m actually against system like HoM. In HoM all the cool items required a lot of points, meaning if I see some cool item and it says “you need 8k points to get this”, I’ll be extremly dissapointed. I have nothing against using achivement points like currency, since that way I can get what I want, not what they give me, if you get my point

NOTE: This thread is not about praising ANET or bashing them (pun intented), I’ll try to be objective as much as I can, also consider I’m mostly open PvE and WvW player. Dungeons are not my thing, since I honestly think they aren’t well designed, but fractals, Molten and AR dungeons were awesome btw. Also I played little of sPvP.

Expanded and re-designed encounters for bosses in dungeons and the open world.
New types of achievements which tie into the new systems of achievement rewards.

Continuing to improve the security of the game fighting botters and hackers, as well as improving the games stability by addressing bugs as quickly as possible when they are reported.

As far as I can tell they missed 2 goals from this, something that I wanted the most actually. Those are re-designed encounters for bosses in dungeons and the open world and lfg tool. If you look at it, they seem to have fulfilled most of their set goal, but imho not the ones that were most important. Of course they added observer mode, new maps to sPvP, new skills and progression to WvW. Culling was fixed in WvW, which made it much more enjoyable.
If you look at it, seems to me they have mostly done what they wanted to do, BUT failed in some other areas. I think they didn’t focus enough on evolving dynamic events. There are so many things you can do with them that I think it’s a shame they didn’t capitalize on it.

Living story: Now this is a touchy subject I really love the concept of it, but I don’t love implementation of it. When I read about it and what they were going to do, I imagined it quite differently. I thought that they were going to add new dynamic events to the zone and that they will be perment addition of it, to show how that map has changed. For the record I have nothing against temporary content, I think it’s a good anti-grind concept, but we could use more permanent. I read that Colin said they will start adding more permanent content with living world so I’m happy they changed their minds.

Suggestion: Orr needs to be rebalanced, again :S, temple events need to scale properly and offer unique items, Southsun Cove, Karka queen needs to be rebalanced, it’s been 2 weeks on my server since it was done. Also please eliminate all group events that are not tied to meta-events. Population is spread enough and I think that only meta-events should have group events.

tl dr: All in all, Anet have done most of the stuff they said they would. But I think they could have done a little more I’m looking forward to what the future will bring to GW2, hopefully expansion next year

Now that really low number of people are playing this zone, are you considering scaling events down a bit, since in it’s current form, at least on my server, it feels like a dead zone again. I think we have too many group events that respawn too fast, and by the way I’m talking about meta-event. And please don’t tell me it’s designed for guilds to do it. If it’s designed for guilds do it via Guild Missions. Like I said Southsun Cove is unpopular yet again. Rewards that you get by freeing those settlement are not good enough to make people play it. Karka queen is the only reason people play it, but we don’t know when will she show up, hence why people don’t even try, they would rather go and do other wold bosses.

This is a question for everyone, especially for sound guys over at Anet. Why is in some zones like Fireheart Rise, and recently, Snowden Drifts, Wayfarer Hills, etc music avoided in some parts of the zones. I find it really odd, is it something on my end, or client?
To be even more precise, West side of the Fireheart Rise has music playing, while east side is avoided of any music. I change mu music interval, but it doesn’t change anything. Also with F&F update same problem is present in Norn begginer zone and Snowden Drifts. Please can you at least tell me/us is there a solution to this problem or not.
I really enjoy music by Jeremy Soul and I want to listen to it while I play the game

Or make them fun to play. Most of those bosses are pretty static. Now I don’t mind them being hard but problem with Grenth and Balth is that they are artificaly hard, meaning, they have insane amount of HP and deal pretty big damage. I don’t like that, and by the looks of things most people don’t like that. If you take hp and damage, those bosses would be easy. So they need to make them hard by allowing them to use interesting skills where you need to react, or make multiple goals to kill that champ during the boss fight. It’s such a shame we have this fantastic combat system with a lot of dodgin, moving, reacting and boss battles are reduced to, stand in one spot and pres 1-5
I’m really hoping that in the next 3 months we will see promised rework of open world bosses, because in their current state they aren’t fun to play against.

HARD [CORE] is guild located on Gunnar’s Hold. We have about 120 members, and about 20-30 that are active. We play all aspects of the game PvE, PvP, and WvWvW as well. Thou I agree that GW2 can’t beat GW1 proph+fation+nightfall in terms of lore, I still think GW2 story was, we all know it, not good. Honestly the most interesting part of personal story was untill 50th level. After you defend the L.A. story isn’t interesting at all. Everything is so focused on killing the dragon, that after 20 levels of playing just with that motive I got bord. And I played 3 different personal stories and killed Zhaitan 3 times, and that last battle against Zhaitan was so badly done I can’t even understand what were they thiniking.
Also about living story, people don’t like it, becuase it’s too slow and they hyped it with those teasers about changing the zones, etc.. when it was quite minimal. Not to mention we haven’t gotten new dynamic events that Colin said we were going to have every month. I remember reading it in a interview when he was explaining how with dynamic events they could add more, change how some work, put them on different timers, add new one to make zone feel alive. That didn’t happen. Only now did something change, but that is after 8 months :S
They have to make PvE more interesting because at it’s current state, for player how has been here for a long time, is it is not fun to play. I have played about 900 hours and at least 600 hours went into PvE. Also I avoid dungeons since they are badly designed, but molten alliance was really good and I really hope they start adding more content. Not feature but content.

State of the Engineer?

I never complained about how my proffesion is weak(I have Necro,Ranger,Engineer,Warrior, Mesmer) but my god, engi is underpowered, it’s not even funny. My mains are ranger and engi (u can guess I have a thing for weak proffesions ), but engineer is so bad at the moment, I’m considering not playing him untill next patch that will at least fix traits that aren’t working.
Honestly I’m not even hoping turrets will get buff in the next 2 months, so I guess I’ll play as warrior and mesmer, and I hate to say this, as Anet intended. I mean really, GW1 was way more complexed, and it had way more skills, but it had better balance than GW2. What happend?
I embraced the idea of first 5 skills being locked on weapons as a way to balance and having 1 heal, 3 utillity and 1 elite, but it seems it isn’t working, at least not for all professions. I really hope you fix engi, becuase I can’t play it now… at least not with the turrets

Bump, because I don’t want to make another thread about the same problem.
Since last patch 26.03.2013. music isn’t playing in Wayfarer Foothills as much as it did before. Can you at least say about this to do audio guys. I love gw music, and I don’t understand why some zones just doesn’t allow my client to play it. And yes I reduced music interval in options but still no music in some parts of the zones.

Here’s a tip for small guilds…. Help each other out.. What do I mean by that. I’m in a relativly small guild, we have 10-15 max active player, and we do T2 guild bounty mission easily because we teamed up with another guild who is in our situation as well. We help them with their giuld bounty, then they help us with our guild bounty.

This is a nice fix because it will allow small guilds to get to the T1 bounty mission faster, and then try and find another small guild, or even bigger guild to help you out. I’m sure there are a lot of guilds who need help from someone else…

Really glad with the upcoming changes, especially with lowering HP on some bosses in dungeons. I’m pretty exited about AoE nerf as well, like that change. For people who seem to take everything literally, they aren’t going to destroy AoE builds, they just want to bring them to place where it should have been from that start. Also they didn’t say AoE will be nerfed the same amount on every aoe skill. There are aoe skills that are fine, but there are some that are actually to strong. Really people if you don’t like the game anymore just leave… you’re not paying subscription, no need to get upset over a game.. There’s a ton of other mmos…

Merge Servers in EU!

Morrigan than we are playing two different games. Whenever I visiti Straits of Devastation Balthazar shrine is contested, Malchor’s Leap, Lyssa and Dwayna are always contested, and there isn’t enough players to free them…. Have you played Fields of Ruin, Iron Marches, Fireheart Rise…. If you did you will notice that there is really small number of people. I never said that there aren’t people and that maps are dead, I just said that we are low on population. Ginnar’s Hold is classed as high pop because there are a lot of characters bound on that server, but question is, how many of those accounts are actually active. Not much. I agree that we have good community, but do you honestly think that people on other servers are bad? I don’t.
And yes this is mostly becuase of WvW, which was my main point, if you followed map chat in WvW and LA, and some forums, you would know that a lot of players and guilds are leaving our server because of :
1. lack of players in WvW
2. lack of players in PvE

No, I did not make this up.

I agree with that suggestion, I made similiar post already… I really think that 3 servers they added after the release in EU are unneeded now. I’m on Gunnar’s Hold and I can tell for the fact that we have really low population in WvW, and PvE as well. Also I know that last tier in WvW is actually dead, and almost no one plays it.
I know some will suggest that I use free transfer, but that is not the issue here. I really hope that Anet isn’t that proud and not merge server in next one/two months.

This is something I’m pretty sure that even Anet is aware of but 3 EU servers are unnecessary and their overal population in WvW is pretty damn low. PvE is also not good on numbers.
Servers in last EU tier literally have no one playing WvW, there are some people, but it’s really really bad. Personaly I’m on Gunnar’s Hold, and our numbers are bad as well, not just in WvW but in PvE. Only areas that have players are Cursed Shore and Frostgorge Sound, other zones are not that good. But more on to the point of WvW. It makes for unhealthy playground, new players are not going to play WvW when no one is actually playing it. Not to say how free transfers are ruining low tiered servers both in WvW and PvE.

I would advise Anet to take action on this problem, you can even compare NA population on servers with EU, and you will see that NA has better population because it has good number of servers, while in EU there are 3 more than it should have.

I would like to know if someone from Anet can answer this.
I’ve been on Gunnar’s Hold since start of the game, and lately I noticed a lack of players, even in Lions Arch. WvWvW is also lacking a lot of players it used to have. I know for a fact that a lot of players and guild transfered to other servers, becuase it’s getting hard to find a group for dungeon and/or fractals, especially beacuse of the fractal levels that segmented players in a very bad way. Also a lot of zones are low on population as well. It kind a defeats the purpose of DE and Group Events if there isn’t enough players.

My question is, are you planing on merging servers?

Because currently EU has 3 more server than NA. I really think that those 3 server, that were added after the release, are unnecessary at this point. It’s better to have overflow in LA, than not having people to play with at all.

Ok.. first of all, I see a lot of people not understanding what grind is. Surprisingly I thought that most of you being old enough to experience the grind, ala EQ, Lineage. Grind is killing mobs for XP without any meaning behind it, beside killing them for XP. You needed to grind to get to the next level. Then WoW changed grind definition a little, you have to grind one dungeon so you can play another dungeon, then heroics, etc…
Now I’m not going to say there isn’t grind in GW2, since legendary weapon is all about grinding. But, it is optional. Ascension gear in it’s current form is optional, maybe they will make it more meaningful in the future. Now I consider myself to be a casual player, playing 2hours on average per day, and I have full exotic gear played a lot of dungeons and I’m level 2 fractal. I also paid 20$ for gems to get more char and bank slots. And I will tell you right now, there is no mandatory grind, same as with GW1. Now I know someone will bring Ascension gear as being some sort of grind, which it isn’t, since it is only required for high level FoTM and by that time you will definitvily have enough mats to have it.
Reason I wrote this is because, you are not even a casual. How can I as a student, with part time job, and voluntary work, playing game max 2 hours per day get full exotic gear and you can’t? Did they limit you in terms of accessing new dungeon. NO. You just need to find a group, what about your guild, you ingame friends surely you made some on your road to 80th level. I hate people that want everyting served on plate.
Nobody is saying system is perfect, but seeing how you all feel betrayed by ANet is kinda silly. There are a lot of people who wanted this type of dungeon. Those who do not like it, they don’t need to play it. If you want Ascension gear then, wait Anet to put other way to get it.

Hi there mate… I’m using nature magic, and have fully traited spirits. If they are fully traited they are good, but are sub par to other builds.. So when I heard that they are working on it, I felt pure joy
For now, I feel that this trait line is fairly limited, and not good as other tait line, maybe it’s just as bad as beatmaster trait line So maybe you should wait for incoming ranger fix. I’m rolling spirits because of role-play more than because it’s an awesome build

As the titles says.
I find this really odd, because Fireheart Rise, Straits of Devastation, Malchor’s Leap, are lacking music all the time, there is only battle music, while other zones don’t suffer from this issue. I haven’t explore all zones, I’m only missing 3 zones, but I just wanted to “report” this strange bug.

Well I really hope they fix this soon, I’m stuck for 5 days already, tried jumping and all sorts of crazy stuff, but those doors just won’t open. First one I can jump over, and second one, but still nothing happens. ETA on fixing this bug would be really apreciated
