iWarden, while flawed is amazing when you use it well, time it don’t just spam it out.
Also the cooldown is really like 1/3 of a second, its much smaller than you think.

Emmm…. lol? iWarden is totally almost useless. It was never effective vs me, and the only thing he is good at – additional dmg on gates. Who care about it’s dps, if it never move?

You are playing the class with the second best boon removal in the game.
Stop wearing zerkers.

And there lot’s of classes that can keep and refresh boons on them for eternity. Ther are always tons of guardians in zerg, and it is not a problem at all to refresh retal for them.
And i’m in PTW armor.

Also no player worth their salt gets confused by clones. Ever.

And that is the most common mistake.
Size of the playing character and behavior – really matters.
My gf play charr necro, and i often look into her PC screen, and she is much more target, then asura necro near her. It’s people psychology, u can do nothing with it – “who is bigger – must be more dangerous”. I can ignore it, u can ignore it, but when it is a mass fight – statistic will prove that i said.
And u can check almost every mesmer video in this topic – enemies sometimes are confused – who is who, and the smaller player model – the more confused they are.
(but yes – this is not this patch mechanic =)

Next thing about players confusion with clones. It’s not a problem for me when i fight 1 vs 1. But when in SPvP we was fighting with two same looking asura mesmers, and lost – i saw that that was mesmer + mesmer + thief (both asura) and it was really hard to understand – who is who, cause all in SPvP are colored in red/blue and asura kitten small =)

So, back to topic:

Into the Void – that is rather strong nerf, cause this skill is really counted like 2 skills – 5th skill on focus is crap. And we took focus only for speed buff and pull.

Blurred Frenzy – atm retal is overpowered. I nearly kill myself if i cast AOE from staff on zerg. The same affect if i use GS – 3 targets, 3 hits, bb my HP. Plus skill lags in www, when u simply can’t use heal skills…

Decreased the clone base hit points by 25% in PvP and WvW – very bad =( This change make any shatter and any try of confusing an opponent with detecting “real mesmer” much more difficult. And if u play not a small asura – even harder.

Malicious Sorcery – nice, but not more. The only condition from scepter is confusion,
and it is overnerfed. And yes, that new torment… Atm looks like a little bit useless, cause of lack of the ways to deliver it to opponent.

So, basically – this patch nerf mesmer in www, and make PvE easier. All carebears sing and rejoice, WWW players – especially who read changes for other classes – a little bit disappointed.

GW1 mesmer had a reliable “confusion-analog” mechanisms. And had a lot of interrupt skills, that also increased the cooldown of the victim. So, good mesmer made a game with resurrect and heal interrupting, with a strong anti-melee (or casting) debuffs.

GW2 mesmer also good. But, his interrupt mechanics is lost, and after confusion overnerf – also anti-skills mechanics too.

As i said before: all classes except mesmers have no problems with run speed. They have a tons of possibilities, some weapon skill based, some utility, some traits.
But not a mesmer.
Argument about free move in PvP is also invalid – actual combat @ WvWvW rare last longer then few min, but running and searching an opponent, not zerg.. That can take a long. And PvE part of the game, as it already was said before.
Argument with Centaur runes, that they are combat… more then invalid. They give power, yes. But they are not combat runes. They can be runes for searching some1 @ combat field, but not for direct confrontation.
So, u better play more for mesmer, not a warrior to understand the gameplay.

Use 7/6 centaur runes, incl aqua breather.

All other classes do not need to loose rune slots on a run speed crap. They already have run speed, so they use runes to give them combat advantages.

So, in fact – run speed is still a mesmer problem. May be not the main one, but still actual.

So… Mesmer’s use the extra utility slot for combat advantages and the rune slots for movement. But.. But! other classes have to use the utility slot for movement giving up combat advantages. Out logic’d?

All classes use utility slots for combat. Or for w/e they want. But only mesmers need to use runes for run speed.
I have thief – and they have no problems cause of signet/passives that give swiftness/N5 bow skill/heart seeker.
Ranger is the fastest class, warriors have no problems, ele too…

Got it? Or too hard for u?

I’ll still probably try to run a build with 2-3 mantras (includes the heal), but the information here has been extremely helpful, thank you.

Moa Nerf

Oh, some time ago, when there was tons of thiefs in WvWvW – Moa was nice as a counter of Dagger Storm, cause Moa is the only thing that don’t care about stability. But … Moa care about Aegis, so still useless.

Yes MOA gets used on us alot. I guess when you can’t beat someone fairly you resort to moa.

Those of you saying that MOA hasn’t resulted in your death you obviously never play GW2.

Moa can give a advantage on 1 vs 1. In ALL other cases it is useless.
That is why almost no1 use it – 1 v 1 – u can kill almost anyone if u are not crudehanded (still i have problems with D/D eles and some thiefs), and in group fight or mass pvp – mass skill will give u and your team much more.

@garr. I’m in T1 and it gets used quite a bit in WvW and in PVP. Not sure what server you’re on.

U can be in any server, but looks like u are newbie in GW2 =)

And yes, almost all mesmers will agree that Moa will be removed and switched to some mass pvp skill or phantasm or even powerfull mantra.

I have a mantra build, that work ok in SPvP and in WvWvW. Not as good kittenter/phantasm in SPvP, but imo shines in WvWvW and ok in PvE.

I tried shatter buid, it is very good for close range, but clones die too fast if u are in zerg. And shatter is too popular.
Hybrid build – but confusion was overnerfed.
So, i came back to mantra – but all mantra build will have a huge problem – mesmer have a really great utility skills. All zergs need a portal and veil from u, null field, etc. And.. U will have no place for that skills. Mantra build work only on selfish u =)

Some time have passed since confusion damage was nerfed (and it was good imo), and i made some observations. Looks like direct damage atm is simply better, and winning.
I tested direct damage build (with items, etc) and hybrid (direct + confusion) build. And direct damage is much better.
The reason is that confusion “fall down” from victim too fast, especially if victim have melandru runes + lemongrass food. Then, confusion simply don’t work, and in all cases loose to retalation.
So, may be confusion need time length increasing, to make direct damage and hybrid damage near the same?

I do thu think we a bit stuck with eather centaur or air runes. If they added passive speed to give other rune option it would have to be on the cost of something else.

Other classes don’t need centaur runes or something like that for nice run speed. That’s a huge WvWvW advantage of them, so they use runes that give them combat superiority.

And yes, this applies to WvWvW only, i have no problems (and even a need in run speed, lol) in SPvP.

To be honest – confusion mesmer was overpowered. Too easy, to effective, AoE (!) ,too much damage.
But i sill hope, that now Anet will give us some simple mechanism to apply confusion (like “Empathy” or “Backfire” skill in GW1), that will be relatively spammable.

I want to craft/buy armor and jewels, that will give me same stats as PvP Berserker Amulet + Berserker Jewel. (as u know, berseker pvp armor give also vitality, not only Power/Prec/CritDmg).
Or, may be, almost the same, but with toughnes, not vitality.

So.. Is there any idia, what kind of armor and jewels should i mix to get such list of bonuses?

Please, make an armor with Power as primary attribute, and Precision and Toughness or Vitality – as secondary.
Because there is only 3 armor with Power as primary – 1 glass cannon berserker, 1 full tank and low dps Soldier, and 1 “never crit” Valc.

Purge storyline to the beginning (and completing it will not give u any prizes), purge race skills, and teleport race armor into warehouse. Simple, fast, effective.

Ele – if they can’t win – they will run away
Thief – highest burst damage, and good chances to run away or stay in stealth on c/d
Some guardians and rare warriors, that know how to play.

Mesmers DO NOT have problems in PvE. Others classes are simply easy mode in PvE, mesmers play “normal” =)

And yes, very limited abilities for run speed. No signet for it, no passives (only tiny bonus when u have active illusions), only skill in focus (with crap bonus fantasm).

Really, how can you say this…? You get ambushed, if you don’t you have plenty of things to counter him and kill him, but still his damage is overpowered? If you get owned like this, then you deserve it, no matter what class stomps you.

Still it is. No1 except thief can kill u in 1 second. Steal – backstab can do about 17k dmg. So save pathetic words to some1 else.

Lol, no.
Thief rely on invis, and when he do it – simply F1 him, and “3” on GS. About 70%, that he is daed after it. Ele’s escape rely on fast moving and immuns. U can do nothing vs it.

Well, if u was ambushed – u are dead. Thief burst damage is really overpowered. Last time i got ~2-3k dmg stealth, ~3-4k cloak and dagger, ~14k backstab. Even ele is not so deadly. (but ele can run away anytime =( .

But If u see thief before he attack u – u have plenty of things to counter him and kill.

- mantra reuse (if i want to have again 2 (3) charges, when not in combat, i need to use last one, and then w8 cooldown to cast matra again), it is really critically in matra builds

- chasing enemy at WvWvW (almost all can easy run away from us)

- combo field starters on weapon (only field from staff is ok, light field from focus – sux imo)

Well…
In GW1 – mesmers was REALLY hard class for PvE. In GW2 – we have no problems. At all.

Yes, other classes (to be honest – ALL of them) are much more easy. But, we all knew that, when we chose to play mesmer.
I prefer to play hard and rare class, instead of strong but simple and popular.

Some skills/traits must be tweaked, yes. But we don’t need to be simple an straight forward like some other strong classes for beginners.

PS sry for my English
PPS and Moa must be nerfed. Because if it will not be – ANet will nerf all of our other skills.

Focus for PvE. Pistol for PvP. The longer cooldown isn’t really bothering me too much.

Wrong.
Focus with it’s Temporal Curtain shines in WvW. Speed up not only u, but all the zerg, and in combat – Temporal Curtain → Into the Void – knock down enemies.
And even more – Temporal Curtain is a combo field starter.

Pistol is good too, but not so good for WvW.

It gets better at higher levels. Mesmer first big improvement I felt was around lvl 60 with an decent update of my stuff. After that it becomes one bug pleasure to play her.

=)))
Still it’s true. The only problem is a AoE shortage and light armor – melee is not for us.

I think that some slow auto-charge in combat can be nice. And also numbers of use on readied mantra must be some bright color, not like right now.

But for me – main problem is long mantra-casting time.
