Well, dunno about the issue but on mine pc (i5, gtx 660, hdd, 8gb ram) it never crashes, works with 60fps @high all time (except large events as teq – ~25fps @high).
my GF with much weaker pc (duo-core E8400 as far as I remember, gtx260, hdd, 6gb ram) never had any crash too, plays with 40-60fps @mid with low shadows (dropping down to 15-20 on large events).
As ATI hater I should prob say that you should finally throw that piece of burning paper and buy yourself a GPU but well…
Anyway this game really works fine for all of my friends no matter on their PC specs. Only one of them has blackscreens but its due to his power supply and almost every game does so for him after few hours.
It USED to have really bad optimalization back 1.5year ago but now its really fine. At least for everyone I know.

Well, its completly opposite but you are right. I’ve used large fonts and it did not show accents but it works on both – medium and small. Thanks

I have a little issue with them. Since launch of the game I can’t see most accent marks in chat – well it’s not a big deal but somehow I got annoyed about that after that 11 months. It is true for polish and prob any other language (spotted it in german language too). Here’s an example:

As you can see in the bubble there are several accent marks but in chat I see only some empty spaces and 2 of them. I also know that 2 of my guildmates have same issue, but others don’t and they have no problem with accents. Is there any solution for this?
I’m using Win7 Pro SP1. Reinstalling the game nor windows did not help. Well I’m asking for help now because I thought it may be a problem with my old Windows installation but now I have fresh system and this still occurs.

iMage is not worst, just useful only with heavy condition build
+20% hp trait and you have to put at least 4 attacks to destroy phantasm (not to mention signet which some are using). Focus on phantasm so I can attack you without you attacking me. Attack me so phantasms cankittenyou. (wtf censorship XD)
I dont want any nerf for mesmers since I love it, but want some tweaks in favor of power and condition mesmers over crit mesmers. Just to balance them. And not to hear from everyone that mesmer is easy OP class because its not. Just there is not good solution what to focus in fight unless you have aoes to take down phantasms.
3 phantasms never happen? defending point alone i always end up with 3 phantasms. Im using mostly power/shatter build so i shatter them away just to get another 3. If you dont insta gibb them by aoe i need only 8 sec to have 3 phantasms. Shatter mechanic is fine, but 3 phantasms alone dmg is too high. Not the whole mesmer+phantasm dmg, just phantasms alone.
Tevesh cant agree with your statement about other classes broken mechanics because all are fine right now but its not forum to discuss other classes mechanics. But please tell me what utility brings iWarlock or iDuellist? Ok iDuellist has combo finisher. But still the biggest utility is killing ppl XD Compare his utility and dmg to iMage or iDefender.
@Sabin I said you can go fully for confusion stacking, be 16k hp, 1,8k armor, die in 2 hits. But its not reliable since you need enemy to attack you for confusion to work. With full confusion based build you can have even up to 20 stacks burst or constant 10-12 whole time but is it really worth? It works quite fun in sPVP for zergs but not in tPVP. And staff to stack anything needs to have 3 clones, which you need to shatter for confusion stacks.

Its not iDuelist alone problem. As I have proved somewhere else iSwordsman is better, it just dont stack bleedings but still does more dmg. iWarlock can crit for 1,8k too.
But AN cannot nerf phantasms directly because 3 phantasms is nearly half of mesmers DPS. And without phantasms mesmer does much less DMG than any other class (at least when i compare mesmer to my ranger, necro, warrior) so nerfing phantasms means they need to buff mesmer’s personal DMG by the amount they took off phantasms.
Personally I liked ideas from BWE weekends posted on forum to let mesmer have 2 clones and 2 phantasms at the same time but ONLY 2 phantasms and ONLY 2 clones. Not mixing like 3 clones and phantasm or 4 phantasms. Shattering only clones and adding chain spell to summon phantasm skills to grant side effect.

And iWarden is great to kill couple of monsters at once. Focus is probably best for solo exp/farming. Put down iWarden, blurred frenzy, switch to staff, chaos storm and attack till everything is dead (+chaos shield and other Staff spells).
@Rhyno – its not the way simply because i can put down my 3 phantasms and do nothing, just take 3 cloaking spells and wait for my phantasms do everything. Thats the problem why others can call mesmer OP (even he is not, he does comparable dmg to every other class) . You have to kill mesmer OR to kill phantasms (unless you have a lot of aoe to kill them in single spell) and the distribution for dmg done by mesmer is around 50/50. So you will get kicked hard anyway.
Maybe I’m wrong but when AN announced mesmer as last class they called him condition dmg, causing chaos and phantasms were meant to be utility with some dmg power (for now it works for iMage, iDefender and iDisenchanter) not main dmg source (iSword, iBers, iDuelist, iWarlock) iWarden is somewhere between, and clones as distraction mechanic (its working as intended I believe).
And right now conditon dmg mesmer can work if you getting lucky and Staff’s 1 cause bleed/burning not vulnerability and to you might not fury (as condition dmg oriented you dont care about random crits for 300), same about chaos storm. Its better to cast it on yourself rather than enemy because buffs are better than conditions it causes (since they added daze its fine I think). But still Mesmer lacks of being able to STACK any kind of condition. Necros could stack bleeding(~15 i believe)+ quite long poison, thieves the same, wariors bleeding (even up to 25stacks), eles burning/bleeding (around 20 specced with earth), ranger bleeding (flanking) + pets cause poison/bleeding) And mesmer (luckily) can have ~8-10 bleedings (using 3 clones from staff), and spikes confusion (considering all traits with glamours causing confusion, using scepter, and IP +15 illusions trait probably you would keep that 6 stacks up for the whole fight, if not it would be spikes between 0-10stacks and speccing fully for confusion makes you glasscannon since all of these traits are in Domination and Illusions and being glasscannon does not synergies well with condition builds).
On the other hand you can use crit build and iDuelist alone would stack 6-8 bleeds not to mention its high dmg + your high dmg. Its not heavy hitting DoT just additional player. If you face 1v1 mesmer with 3 phantasms it does not matter if you kill phantasms or mesmer because the other source will kill you.
I like mesmer but i see why people can consider it as op . Every choice while facing mesmer is bad. Thats why i believe that phantasms should got toned down in dmg and buffed as utility tool (like the trait that gives regen near phantasm+when you gain regen you gain protection)
And I agree that support mesmer is fine – thanks to his utility spells, mantras healing traits (and traits generally) and elite. But only viable support weapon is staff (underwater trident), but we can swap weapons and we lack of choices, focus is fine but for supporting sword is useless, same scepter. Sword has at least good dmg but its melee.

For sPVP its little too less to have 18k hp and 2,1k armor. At least get ~20-22k hp. If you want use sword for shortrange weapon you probably don’t need to use illusionary elasticity (at least its my opinion – I just think its useful only if you can have additional bounce to enemy when facing 1v1 (enemy-you-enemy), when it comes to hit 1 more random enemy it’s a bit poor – you are not specced with condition dmg.).
+ forget about fighting as melee in WvW. Take GS or scepter/p (scepter/f) instead of s/p
It applies up to 6 stacks with illusions 15 – illusionary retribution trait. You could trait it to grant you retailation as well. But still this is good for condition heavy builds or in situations when you are fighting against quickly striking enemies. When thief/warior comes attacking you with quickness up its really useful.
Yep. I understood how it works (the XXX (xY) thing) when i was randomly testing diffrent builds at dummies and noticed that my mind wrack untraited did more dmg than traited. Then I looked deeper into it and noticed that i was randomly shattering one or two clones. Then looked into combat chat and there was everything. Single shatter with 3 clones does more dmg overall but less per clone providing higher spike dmg but loosing its full potential. Right now I’m mind wracking 1st clone right after it comes out and use F2/F3/F4 for the rest of clones waiting for F1 off cd.
Not sure if this is factored into your observations, but the damage numbers you see on the Duellist’s attack are cumulative, i.e. the total damage is equal to the final number.
O-o… if this is true that does make a difference.
Are you sure? I assumed each number was a separate bit of damage… in the tooltip it even says xxx (x8)

Just go to golems and look at numbers. it starts like 400 then 800, then 1200 etc. Last number is total dmg. Same goes about thieves unload skill, blurred frenzy etc (last number is total dmg)
It says XXX its quite weird. DMG formula is something like your power+weapon dmg+skill dmg where XXX is that skill dmg. (in tooltip you have actual dmg you should do with that skill w/o crits but still you have to remember that every weapon have some DMG range so it can be less or more,. At wiki you will see for Blurred Frenzy Damage (8x): 808 which, I believe, is that ‘skill dmg’) But when it comes XXX (x8) it means that you have to divide that XXX per 8 to get skill dmg per tick. XXX is for total. Or I believe so based on my observations. if it’s XXX multipled by 8 then swords 2 should hit over 10k.

now you can see its 400per crit (219 no crit) while tooltip says 1768(x8). 1768/8=221.

And that why i called that iDuellist 2,4k is less than iSwordsman 3k. Additional factor is that iDuellist can stack up to 8 bleeds, while iSwordsman can not. but in crit/power build it bleeds 50per tick so im not sure if it will be more than 2,7k total (direct dmg+bleed)
Is something wrong with me or swordsman DOES more dmg when crits? with crit/power build swordsman, when it crits does much more dmg than duellist when crits most of his attacks.

No changes in traits, using only inspiration 25 to boost phantasms attack
My Mesmer IS forcing my enemy to make choices ! Ignore my Phantasms to chase me and get destroyed by them OR ignore me and chase my phantasms and get destroyed by me .
And as you said – its all about who deals dmg – you or phantasms. I believe its not the way phantasms should be used. Right now its 50/50 dmg for mesmer and phantasms. About half of your dmg as power or crit mesmer comes from phantasms. Shouldnt it be more for mesmer, and phantasms used as utility?
And I agree with you Narmix. Phantasms dmg should be toned down, added secondary effect AND new weapon that specialise in condition (not random ones) control.
Right now only iMage and iDisenchanter do the role I believe mesmer should do. Buff team, debuff enemy and grant decent dmg. Other phantasms are pure DPS. How about take 1/2 iDuelist dmg out and give him like 10% chance to daze target for 0,5s? (random numbers), how about adding berserker ability to shout to give nerby allys few stacks of might/fury between its attacks, etcetc.
How about giving mesmer mid range weapon like pistol and give it necro’s scepter like ability to bleed/burn/confuse/poison enemy (2 or 3 in chain skill 1 ability) and some cripples/buffs like retaliation for other 2 abilities. Or make it 1st ability bouning and 1 target bleeds, second burns or grants regeneration, thrid is confused or grant random_boon_name_here depending if 2nd and 3rd target is enemy or ally. Just not so random like staff. Still staff is best weapon for mes right now but too luck-dependant.
This would take down mesmers dmg by nerfing damage of its phantasms. Mesmer as DPS still will be viable with sword+anything/GS setup, and will make condition/support/disabler mesmer viable, not fully luck dependant
Mesmers only power is to cause chaos on battlefield. Take down phantasms – you take down 3/4 of mesmers dps. Now kill him. Also play at least 10matches as mesmer and you’d learn his weak sides. Same goes about thieves.
For now thieves and mesmers are FotM and ppl Q_Q about how strong they are. But to be honest they aren’t stronger than others because they are simply easier to counter than necro/warrior/ranger. If anything about mesmer should be nerfed is moa (still Time Warp is much better, just you dont realize it) and should get shorter duration AND shorter CD. Thief just got toned down.
I bet next FotM will be necro when ppl learn how to play him in PROPER way. This game is perfectly balanced. You just need to play and learn of class weaknes and strenght. Like in any other e-sport game like DotA…
And on the other hand AN shouldnt do any nerfs, mby just buff somehow eles and wariors other build than 100blades.

Show me your build. Just now tested 3,2k power, 50% crit dmg. ~50%crit chance with 2x+15% illusion dmg. Max crit for golem was 6k. Going deeper. It was 18k hp and 1,8k armor. 3-4 hits (if not less) from ele/thief/warrior?

1 and 2. If Mesmer/thief goes full glass cannon it has 14k hp. Full glass cannon ele/warion can take it in 2 hits. Tested. So your argument is invaild. The problem is people are just likes numbers over head and go full glass cannon and they lose to hp/toughness builds.
3. and other classes have much more CC options like cripple, stun, knockdown (ele, war, guard, ranger) It is really problem to cripple mes/thief when they are low, trying to vanish? Its only 3 sec. With cripple they won’t run. Profit?
You just need to deal with mes and thief and their trickery. I play PVP as ranger, guardian and engi and dont have real problem with neither mesmer nor thief.
Thieves are meant to 1v1. All in all they are ‘assassins’. Role of sin in every game is being able to quickly take down low hp clother and I’m fine with it. The price is – to crit over 7k he has to be 14-16khp and you can take him down quickly too. This require some form of hard CC but is possible and achivable. I do not play thief personally but dont think he’s any way imba in pvp in 1v1 I may loose to him, but in bigger fights they are not that big threat.
Classes that can 3v1 imho war/guardian/necro (specced for DS/cc/dots – prob won’t kill but wont get killed too and will strongly damage enemies)/engi.
Its funny how people Q_Q on mesmers and thieves. Do you all really build glass cannons so thief/mes can burst you down with 1 combo? Same I can call properly builded necro as OP because its nearly unkillable even in 3v1 and still can do lot of dmg. Never seen mesmers hitting me for more than 5k crit with blurred frenzy and outside that they can do only sustained DPS which can be kited/healed. Same about thieves, not brightest idea how can you get critted for more than 7k. Or ok. If thief is total glass cannon with 14k hp and 2k armor. But then he is completly useless in fights other than 1v1 so its his weakness.
The only opinion here is that warriors need a bit love. I played diffrent classes sPVP and the only one im loosing to mes/thief is warrior. With engi/necro i can beat almost every mes 1v1 and most thieves. On the other hand problem for mes is guardian/SMART ranger/ele if he wipes out all clones with single AOE.
And one more – when you go sPVP you can see a lot kitteny thieves/mesmers. Its a proof that that they are not op, needs some skill to be properly used but people are loosing to them, think they are op and then suck.
Does anyone actually figured out the way power/total attack is increasing dmg output? And how toughness/total armor reduce damage?
It seems to be simple (power+weapon dmg+skill dmg) – (eq armor+toughness) (not including any multipliers like crits, protection etc). But it makes not real sense because conditions already ignore armor and in that way stacking health would be better idea?
Same goes for every weapon recharge reduction and 5 points illusions. I sent in game ticket (forum was disabled back then). I believe its bug, and if its not and its intended then:
1. It should be clearly stated that illusions recharge reducing traits do not stack because right now its confusing
2. 5 illusion trait should get reworked because when I’m using sword/sword and staff weapon set with both skill recharge reduced and need my 20points in illusions I have 1 trait ‘less’ in my tree since its completly useless. There are many minors that one dont need but they ALWAYS have some effect. This trait provides NOTHING if you use weapon recharge reducing majors.
They are both making hardware that in theory has better stats than intel/nvidia but are not as efficient. (maybe with exception of the latest radeon series)
