As such, the concept of a “main” provider of a given element or buff and one or more “secondary” providers is important. It just hurts because ANet seems to be unwilling to properly re-build classes based on this shift in design.

Im fine with rev getting alacrity in future when next wave of elite specs hits. Just make it properly, give him Legendary Chronomancer Countess Anise Stance and we are fine.

If you paid attention to the necromancer and guardian forums during the revenant/herald reveal streams, you’d know that stealing class concepts is sort of the revenant’s thing.

I would never argue with that and I would not have problems with rev getting Legendary chronomancer stance in the future and have access to alacrity. Since then its basically a chronomancer and it makes sense.

And to everyone saying that mesmer is still main source of alacrity/quickness and always will be needed:
1. you wont know it till qT benchmarks, if they say that now quickness is applied by warior and alacrity by druid pugs will believe it and not take mesmer anymore
2. as far as I agree that mesmer is still a thing as main source of alacrity I am not worried about ‘mesmers place’ but rather I hate AN giving away class specyfic things (had same issue with torment, confusion etc) and breaking their promises just because they suck at getting new fitting ideas.

Since hot they are dropping and breaking promises every now and then

@Fay I agree with you that balance team has no idea what consistency is but I’d think that they have someone like game designer or s1 who keeps an eye on such promises.

I’m happy with the buffs mesmer recieved and they seem really good but I hate AN breaking promises every now and then.

Chronomancy is the only specialization allowed access to this powerful effect, and chronomancers can share alacrity with allies in limited situations, making them an incredibly powerful ally to have in any party.

And I’m pretty sure that in one of the interviews AN employee said that they doubt that any future mesmer specialization will recieve alacrity as you want to keep it unique to ‘time manipulation’.

It was 1st time after all these years I was happy about balance change for mesmer till I read about revenant. I’m still happy but would be nice if you stop taking away class identity. It would be much better to find a unique to revenant type of buff… Why not taking away rangers pet and giving it to guardian? Not taking engie turrets and give to thief?

Actually I think there are multiple reasons:

  1. make healers useful – without it if you dodge properly you won’t be taking much dmg at any boss (i.e. VG, Gors, matthias, KC – all of them can be avoided or prevented via mechanics)
  2. avoid ppl getting OOC like in old dungs to swap skills/build mid run (or possibly even letting other players res and run back)
  3. no self res

And after all with competent healer the ticks are not big of a deal anyway.

So does that mean that I can finally gear up my druid for condi dmg without being a drawback compared to necros and engies?

Remember that these are the dps golem tests, so, in case of necro, do not include the huge dps boost from epidemic.

Also runes of thorns dont stack at dps golem and you don’t have more than 5 minions (at raid you usually have more 8-13)

Well in the end I have been doing it with dodgejumping which was most consistent for me. Still place like that should never exist, the gap between rocks has really small space you dont slipp off. And jumping out of it to higher platform is harder just because you slipp all the time

Well not druid but ranger. Big difference. and only for stationary targets such as gorse, sabetha and KC.
Condi ranger will not work that well for sloth, vg, matthias

EDIT:Actually now i think about it it might work on sloth as its pretty easy to flank him. And might be tricky for sabetha as you want to stack with group. But I have personally never tried condi ranger and my guild only uses it sometimes on gors

As DavyMcB said druid in 4 necro party is not that much for healing as for healing minions. A lot of minions→more bleeding→more dps→faster kills→smaller window for mistake. Also necors dont loose a lot of HP so druid can heal each one individually.

4necro+druid is not optimal TBH, you can do it faster with other comps(ele+ps+2x nec+druid/guard do it faster from my experience) but its safe. And in pug environment safer also means faster because you avoid a lot of wipes

I have done this puzzle this weekend. And I have some input on it:

  • it isnt hard, actually this puzzle is pretty easy as long as it comes to actual jumps BUT
  • this is not a jumping puzzle. It has very little to do wich jumping like old puzzles/fractal puzzle/mad king tower. Untill after 4th checkpoint its more: ‘where the * should I go now’. Doing it without guide is pain, not because its hard, but because there are almost no indicators where to go next when you have to glide to the other side of the map.
  • this puzzle is very glitchy. At first I thought its just me being bad or going wrong way but after looking at dulfy’s vid I have found out that its desinged way and you have to be extra careful not to fall from rock just because there are little unaccesible places on them and one wrong move can make you fall all the way down just because. I failed a lot of glide parts not because I was gliding too low or something but because my character just slipped down where my friends did it properly just because they landed 2 pixels closer. Or jumped right after landing.

So… imho its worst puzzle in game, has very little to do with jumping and requires more of thinking where to go without good indicators. Its not fun but annoying cuz of how glitchy it feels. The last part, after 4th checkpoint feels like JP and could be fun if not for all previous annoying parts. After all whole JP took me like 1h, first 20mins I spent trying to figure out way by my own and then I just gave up and followed a guide. It was 1st puzzle I did with guide, sometimes I used guides to find entrance but after entrance I was doing it on my own, this one is just stupid.

TBH I never liked Trahearne through the whole vanilla story. I was happy with the expansion cuz I thought we might not see him ever again since he fullfilled his Wyld Hunt . But I guess I was wrong
So it kind of made me happy that he finally died as he should – converted to dragon minion or I’m not really sure how to call it. I hope he would never return. I doubt that they will resurrect him but I’m worried of him returning as something like The Pale Tree or something. And as for legendary stances we still miss a lot better and more important characters from GW1 as legends so I hope they wont go with Trahearne stance.

Although I agree with this idea and it was suggested before BUT I see one reason why AN might not want this feature. With this you can always have 1 more person being outside raid watching and calling mechanics which will be like 11th person in raid.
And should it be like you could watch anyone? or you have to be invited to spectate? I can see some groups not wanting to be watched by random ppl

Tho I play wvw rarely I ammased like 4k badges which I feel are worthless now since there is nothing I’d want from it.

You don’t want gold? They can be converted to siege and either sold or upgraded to superiors and sold for even more.

The whole point is that doing this essentially robs those of us who used to play WvW avidly but no longer do so. I’m rank 141 in WvW, but that means NOTHING as far as anet is concerned when it comes to getting a legendary.

See – I’m level 14. I used to play before there were wvw ranks. Tried it, got some fun, got like 6k badges and left 4k for future legendaries. Then AN introduced wvw lvl and I got nothing from my previous time spent in WvW. Thats when i though – OK i dont care anymore about WvW. Now Im being robbed from my chances to do legendaries unless I will spend more time in WvW which robbed me twice now.
I dont mind WvW req for legendaries, I’m even supporting it. Thats why i spent my time farming Badges back when there were NO reward tracks, no level rewards, NO WvW dailies and no achi points. I’d say farming 6k badges back then took me way more than doing stupid reward track like 6 times. Thats why I feel bad about that change.
And no, the ‘notice’ we got is silly. Gift of battle is not JUST WvW thing and should be listed in general path notes, not WvW ones. OK there was notice. We probably could read it. Just I wonder how many WvW players are reading raid/fractals patch notes they dont give a kitten about.

@Deli.1302 Are you kitting me? Just double checked @gw2efficiency best you can make out of sieges is 59c/badge. Thats a great amount of ~24? gold for 4k badges. Trully worth my time.

Well I never bothered about wvw since I’m playing on one of the worsts wvw servers. With server merge change it got a bit better but still wasnt interested in wvw much, thats why I rarely bothered reading wvw notes so I just missed the info about this change. (anyway I feel that this note should be made under general since gift of battle is not only WvW thing)

I dont ask to bring back the NPC since it prob wouldn’t happen but at least give us an option to spend badges to buy potions. Let it even be 800-1k badges for potions needed to max out reward track. Whats more forcing at least some PvE players to do WvW will prob hurt WvW as well :C (ekhm old map completion, ekhm Gift of Battle farm groups ~year after gw2 release)

I just didnt notice ANY diffrence with ‘quality of pugs’ either on weekend or monday/thursday. If you gonna raid with 9-5 pugs then its always a lottery. You need to pick up so many random people. Try logging on on monday with one of your friends and find raid. You will have to wait like 1-2h b4 even starting. If you organize you will quickly notice that most of these 50+LI eternals were carried/straight lied about their exp.

If your group is experienced and multiclass, and you need only like 1-2 pugs then you should be able to finish the bosses no matter the pugs – they either will be exp and cause no problem, or you will notice that they have no idea what they are doing and kicking them and replacing is easy (note that I mentioned your group to be multiclass).
If your group is not a multiclass one and you miss i.e necro and guard then it doesnt matter if its for monday or friday you will still have long wait times to find/replace pug.

Ultimately if you find good/decent pug one week just talk to them after the raid and ask if they are willing to do raid with you next week. If your group was at least decent I am more than sure that they will answer ‘yes’ and you will have another regular member of squad. That way I made my group from missing 2 ppl to have 1-2 players in fallback. And started just as you – raiding just at weekends.

And still it has nothing to do with one date being more friendly than other cuz I can argue that there are just as many people working at weekends/nights that there are these working at weekdays till 5pm.

And what prevents you from raiding at weekend right now? I do that almost every week. You get your kills before reset anyway.
I mean I dont see any diffrence and your reasons are not valid at all.
- ‘international players’ can interact with others no matter when the reset is
- dont get the ‘casual friendliness’ at all how is it more friendly to anyone than reset on monday?
- you still can do short content during week and raid at weekends…

Interesting. I have killed each boss multiple times with pugs from LFG until I have found a friendly group and we just added each other to friends to form ‘regular team’. Maybe you should start your own group and SELECT ppl that you want from LFG.
Tip: organize your own group on monday, since most good players try to get kills on monday (you probably need to know the mechanics and be able to lead group tho), ask ppl about their experience, notice the way they speak, if they are polite or just want to rush things.
You really dont want to invite ‘elitists’ that link you 50 LI, asc gear and say ‘I hope your party be good’ since they usually suck or are at most decent and not willing to listen.
If you select people properly you would probably get VG and gors kills in max 5-6 attempts. I can agree that pugs still struggle with sab and much depends on good leader and if players want to listen or just start to panic.
You would probably rarely succeed joining first party that you see unless you get lucky shot and get someone that tries to select group as I suggest.

Hi,
I just want to make sure that using VPN such as mudfish is not prohibited by ELUA (not sure why should it be, but I want to be safe). And on the other hand since its VPN and you dont know who might be using it and for what I want to know if I can be banned because someone other using this VPN is selling gold?
Im kinda interested in that since my IPS is kittened and my packets go through telia.net and like 20% is lost causing ping to jump up to 3k which makes game unplayable.

get ±64.76% crit chance on your own, so with banner, fury and spotter you’ll reach 100%.

Except that you will like never get spotter and banner will affect you rarely. Unless you have group with 2 PS warriors (which is unnecessary since a good PS can keep 25might for 10ppl) only 1 group will get access to banner.
Mesmer DPS is way lower than other classes and noone expects you to deal highest dmg. Unless you run no updraft gorseval (take full zerker then) I believe its better to mix it with commanders to keep 100% upkeep even if you cant cast signet of inspi/wells/etc (i.e. gorse updrafts/sloth tanking/slobling).
But its just a personal opinion. My group never comes anywhere close to enrage timers just because I use commander weapons and actually when I tested bers vs commanders it seemed we were few seconds ahead with me using commanders but it might be just pure chance.

and change depending on encounter:
boon strip (Shattered Concentration) for VG,
Inspiration 1,1,2 instead of Domination and Feedback instead of Signet of Inspiration for Sloth
Etc…

The commanders weapons (and actually 1 accessory or ring, not sure which one) are just personal preference cause it helps me to upkeep quickness during ‘fight downtimes’ like gorsevals updrafts. This 10% helps me much with that (I believe I have ~42% with buffs, 92 with herald)

With 2-3 shield phantasms all the time I dont feel like I need healing well for 2s more alacrity and the passive healing on signet helps me not require heal from healer that often. + it helps resummon phantasms if you need to shatter them (i.e you just used them for CS and boss comes into CC phase and your team is bad @cc or slik shoe engie is downed or whatever)

So with some condi buffs that ranger got recently do you think that some interesting builds might make it to the ‘meta’?
Right now only possible build for condi was with just axe/torch quickdraw, no other weapon to swap. And it was niche probably possible to get party with just guildies.
Will a/t+shortbow be more popular now? I mean in pug reality?

Interesting build, whats the damage numbers like?

Not sure about dmg numbers but I have been able to keep constant 20-30 bleeds with 2 duelists and 1 avanger for some more alacrity (I still believe its main role of chrono), and like 15-25 conf most of the time (ethereal combo with wells).
I really believe that with some changes to interrupt this would be much better build. With trash around single shield 5 alone can stack like 20conf in no time.
The sword AA’s are not much weaker than in full zerker (3rd in chain is hitting like 2-4k depending on might instead of 3-5 as far as I remember that was the numbers in zerker).
I’d love to use staff but its just a great utility with breakstuns and chaos armor but I kinda feel it falls behind for dps without staff clones and we are sacrifacing shield for that which means less alacrity/quickness

It seems that scepter 3 is on par in dps with sword AA + it sacks confusion.
With chronophantasma/some clones flood with scepter it seems like a good idea to shatter as much as possible.
The downside is that in this build you cannot swap any traitline for inspiration if more reflects are needed (without dueling you lose lot bleeding, without illu we lose lots of confusion). But with ****loads of class getting reflects with their specialization (scrapper/druid/eles providing aoe magnetic auras) it seems not be much of an issue I think.
I’d love to use rune of perplexity but it seems almost impossible to interrupt now. Same thing makes mistrust and duelist discipline not that useful. It would be great if they provide us with some changes to interrupt mechanic for PvE b4 raids.

Any opinions? I’d love some feedback about sigils because I’m bad at picking them. Overall since mesmer dmg wont ever be highest I think hybrid like that might work.

Everyone ofc could be anyone with proper role, but on the other hand… why guild would like to block any member from using scribe? At least as long as they need to use their own mats since all they do for guild then is increasing its scribe lvl which is good i think.
But yeah, make it being permission is a good idea.
Anyway I just want be a GUILD profession, not a profession that one or maybe two ppl from guild can do in whole guild (at least for now, when leveling it is too expensive to single person except these filthy rich percent of players)

What I believe is BS is that its GUILD profession and yet only 1 person uses it. So either your guild helps that single person and then cost is quite fair but what if said person stops playing/anything and your guild is left without scribe OR you level it alone which is way too expensive.
I’d like to see scribe being leveled as guild profession meaning that EVERYONE in guild could use scribe reciepes this guild has unlocked, and no matter who crafts it makes progress for whole guild.

@Samurro TBH all 3 talents are OK. I take miam over haste cuz I shatter a lot and I’m not finding myself keeping phantasms long enough to make them attack twice anyway. And I took miam over might in support build because its just for me and (at least for now in fractals/open world) I find myself i spot where I already have at least 15stacks of might(25 most of the time). When I copy this my allies have 25 anyway and Im not sure if 3 stacks of might that might apply to me or not are better than 3 torments. And whats more im not min-maxing and that fits me better.
And yeah it just casts signet of inspiration so you basically get a free skill it has like 30s ICD tho. I guess normal signet of inspi CD.

I’m not an expert but im playing mesmer since game’s release, I was never min-maxing my builds but here are some of my thoughts.

  1. I believe that chrono will be used mainly for CC for breakbar and for alacrity.
  2. If you dont use inspiration I see no point going focus since it wont reflect, focus 4 gives weak CC in terms of breaking bar and warden is too stationary
  3. sword nowhere fits condi style, you might go hybrid but then pistol is more than recommended OH for its CC and phantasm benefiting from both power and condi
  4. Chaotic dampening seems not really a good choice – only good damaging skill for staff is chaos storm, other than that staffs cds are short enough to live without this trait and I’d consider chaotic transferance a better choice.

As I said I’m not an expert, what I’m planning to use in raids is one of three:

Perhabs I might do same thing – do hunt until I need to buy mats. Problem is that reddit discussion I provided shows that you can only do 1st part and then you have to craft something for 250g and from what I read this applies to all legendaries so Im not sure if its even worth my time. If it was do a hunt and crafting and spending money being last step, but giving up midway seems baaaad.

To be honest from ANET’s announcements I believed that crafting a precursor would cost large amount of time (30-40ish hours) and little money so that people that wanted to feel the story of a weapon and not spend much money could do that.
After reading few topics like this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3qe2cv/precursor_journey_complete_the_colossus_steps_and/ i think I’m gonna give up on crafting the shield and would buy it from tp like I did with every other precursor. 50-ish or even 150g is not really worth it. I might loose some story which makes me sad but the diffrence in gold is too small to even bother.

Chronomancer is definitely top tier for raids. With alacrity + quickness + CCs chronomancer is boss in raids. Also why assassin over berserker if going for power. You didnt take any reflects and if not for reflects I think bers is better than assassin. At least it was some time ago

As for condi vs power what I meant was that power on mesmer is already pretty bursty and condition as bursty dmg seems weaker. For balance purposes I’d expect condi to be consistent dps if power is bursty or vice versa. We can argue that there are bosses/mobs with high toughness require condi dmg but with party being mixed dmg with condi and power builds it seems (for me and for now at least) mesmer would still be better power and others do condi job.

Moving to the weapons – ofc shield is not a condi weapon but on the other hand is much more control/suport offhand than anything we have (at least IMO). And I’d like to believe that HoT will bring utility over dmg. Ideal situation would be if we can have 2 offhands but with our weapon range it seems bit impossible with sword not fitting to condi and using 2 scepters being quite weird. 2 sword MH seems much more natural due to skillset. Maybe it could be any good with sw+shield/scepter+pistol with sinister hybrid.

I see 2 possible condi setups – ilu/inspi/chrono suport with staff/scepter+shield or more dps oriented ilu/duel/chrono with staff/scepter+pistol. Not so sure for the hybrid one for sure replace staff with sw+shield and leave scepter+pistol i think? and traits being prob ilu/duel/chrono.
Whats sad for me almost all phantasms are scaling of power – warlock, swordsman, duelist, warden, berserker. Only mage scales of condi. And somehow traited duelist.

Chaos storm is arguably one of best skills in game and making us not use it cuz of random application of dazes (well its not said that it would be a problem but it might. lets hope not cuz staff is only 2nd weapon choice imho)

And personally I dont think that phantasms can make up dps when players are required to move. They died very fast on every vile guardian aoe which required us, players to move.

Well it came very pessimistic but I somehow tend to always show the drawbacks if other are listing bright points and vice versa.

I hope you are right since I prefer condi/hybrid mesmer playstyle but I have some worries of it being replaced by engi/guardian in everything other than alacrity

So… after beta and at least some hour of us being able to spend on raids – what is your opinion about chrono state in raid envirnoment.

I was able to run it just once on 1st day before they turned it off. I went in with rabid gear staff/scepter+shield. The amount of controll and support with alacrity/quickness/slow seemed OK and I was satisfied I guess.
As for condi gear it feels not so good. I was expecting it to be much more constant dps while it was quite bursty. Ok I got lots clones to shatter, but overall the high confusion application was not so constant. Ticks were quite qood, bosses seem to attack more often than in vanilla gw2 but Im not sure if it was better/as good as power build (let zerker alone since we are not sure if full glass cannon can be meta in the future)
Staff also seemed awkward with its random daze application.

So what are your thoughts fellow mesmers? Will we be required members of raids for something more than alacrity bots? Will power be still way to go, or will we be at least competitive as condi dealers compared to eles/guards/engis?

If you bought the game between January 23rd and June 16th, you get an additional character slot and will be automatically refunded what you paid for the game initially if you pre-purchase before July 31st.

But this one does not elaborate WHO qualifies for the free slot. Are that only veterans (acc pre Jan 23) or also new players (acc after Jan 23). I understand that if a ‘new player’ will buy HoT through AN website they will get the diffrence back. I understand the part where ‘old accounts’ will get free slot.
But according to above post by GaileGray @reddit it is possible to get free slot by buying from retailer (list of retailers https://www.guildwars2.com/en/retailers/ ) But does this apply to new accounts too? Or only to veterans?

I have a question. Maybe it was answered somewhere but…
Veterans are told to get free char slot if they buy Gw2 from official retailer same as from official store. (GaileGray post on reddit, cant find it now)

Does this happen for ppl who bought Gw2 AFTER 23.01.2015? Will they get refund of base game or will get the character slot if they buy HoT from official retailer? Or they will get nothing buying from retailer?

Wanted to clear something up:
Power Block had its damage unintentionally increased with the 6/23 release. The reduction wasn’t a “nerf” – it was a bug fix. It still does the same damage it did before the 6/23 release.

Good that you guys are fixing things. But maybe next time if you nerf-fix then think to buff-fix in the same time. We still have not working pistol trait, not working scepter trait…

So do you think that for dungeons may be better to run GS/scepter+pistol than staff as condi with sinister gear + perplex? I must agree that Staff takes too long time to setup and provides just one damaging skill. Other than 3 staff clones which is impossible with scepter.

For dungeons we cant drop feedback – we already dropped focus reflect so it limits us with one skill. Also running DE would be prob nice but in dungeons it may just cause random pulls.

Most servers in NA are either full or have very high populations. Whether they play WvW or not, a server merger would be difficult if not impossible based on that fact alone.

Well thats why i have said that maybe not merging but allowing transfer to one of selected by Anet servers (obviously not top ones but low-mid tier). But yeah, all are full/very high and still its possible to register new acc. @europe there are some high and still it is possible to make acc on very high instead of locking them for some time to force filling up less populated ones.

Will there ever be some kind of server merging? It happens in every MMO and I think its kind of time for GW2.

There are at least 3-4 servers that means nothing in wvw which is not really fault of players on that servers. Mostly it happend because people changing server for one reason or another (friends, language, etc), then more players changed servers because there were not enough of them to fight for win.

Now it is impossible to these few servers to come back to be competitive since new players don’t make their accounts on ‘losers’ server.

I personally play on Whiteside Ridge and I think its fine, we can at least fight in our tiers and I don’t need anything else, but when we are fighting with Blacktide im about to laugh. I believe sames goes for Fissure of Woe and probably there are NA servers with the same issue.

My point is – these servers ruin fun for both sides. They do not have fun because they literally cannot play on their own – little to none WvW commanders means that casuals who wants to visit WvW once at a time and maybe get interested and become ‘pro’ won’t do that. Players who want to play WvW can’t gather enough army and can only capture towers in teams of 5-10ppl. And on the other side servers fighting with them turns to be 1v1 instead of 1v1v1 and this is making WvW boring.

I know that everyone can transfer but all servers (except these bad) are 1,8kgem which is ~200-240g, and it sill will not solve problem with fighting against these servers, they will only do even less. So either close them at all and let players transfer wherever they want (or with some restrictions to T8-5 servers or sth like that) or lock registration for other servers to force new players register (more and more are comming, and will after HoT) and fill up the bad ones in hope that some of them will have lust for blood and will help and make them appear @WvW again. But somehow I don’t think it would be best solution. I’d rather see that servers shut down.
