What are the best dungeons for farming Dungeon Tokens?
EX. CoF – Magg, challenging, but quick and straight forward dungeon. This is a dungeon that I can come home after work and do 3 or so runs before having to ZzZ.
Essentially, I’m short on time during the week and cannot devote 5 hours for a single dungeon run (some of those dungeon paths arekittenepic and long, and i plan to run those on the weekends).
Why do I not want way points to be free? Because that would get rid of one of the gold sinks that are a necessity for the economy.
What reason do you have to believe that it’s a necessary gold sink? GW1 did not have this gold sink. They displaced it from vanity sinks like 15k armors into waypointing.
This is a fundamental flaw by design. A game designer’s philosophy when designing anything like this is to never hinder a player’s enjoyment of the game by actually playing the game. One example is games that have very high repair costs. Yes repair costs are one form of gold sink, but incredibly high costs and even worse – needing repair even without dying, by just walking around, makes the game much less enjoyable.
So no, you can’t just use “gold sink” as a blanket justification for something. There are good ways to design gold sinks without sapping the enjoyment of the game out of a player.
And no, you are not playing smart by not waypointing. Just because someone waypointed somewhere doesn’t mean he’s twiddling his thumbs at that waypoint while you do stuff along the way. He’s now moving on to other content, exploring new areas (by definition you aren’t exploring if you’re just backtracking content you’ve already done trying to get to a waypoint) and quite frankly he’s much more efficient than you are despite what you may think about yourself being so “smart”.
Hahha, really.. You just compared a lobby based game to an MMO? >_> There is a huge difference my friend.
And you are aware that there are more than just single events in specific areas correct? I highly doubt you are going to catch every single event your first time walking to the waypoint, then utilizing that way point back and forth each time. You’re missing out on loads of content.
But hey, play how you want to play. Just don’t come crying in the forums when you are broke and can’t afford things because you skipped tons of events while leveling.
Honestly though, I’m done trying to give you guys solutions. You want to complain, but don’t want to take the help. Enjoy your tears.

Actually, no I would not. I understand the necessity for a gold sink in MMOs. I think what people are forgetting is that way points are completely optional. If you don’t want to pay, you absolutely do not have to pay. You are more than welcome to run from point A to point B.
You pay for convenience.
I gave solutions on how you could:
-Help out your friends without worrying about spending money
-How to get money by doing the events between way points
It’s not my fault that you people want things to be free and easy mode, it’s also not my fault that you don’t want to take solutions into consideration. You just want to argue and continue to spit nonsense.
Yeah, no in game friends at all. I’m glad you have such mature mannered conduct, and bring such intelligence to a conversation.
Because I don’t feel like they are expensive at all? As I said, I didn’t waste money on waypoints. I had 40 gold the day I hit 80, and now I have 80 gold. 3-4 silver is chump change.
For those that did waste their money leveling up and skipping content, I could see how it could be troublesome for you.
Why do I not want way points to be free? Because that would get rid of one of the gold sinks that are a necessity for the economy.
Played smart, by not spending my money on waypoints; when there were dynamic events between those waypoints giving me more and more money, and experience and karma.
My argument is definitely legitimate. I’m not the one complaining that I can’t help my friends, because it’s too costly to teleport all over the place. That would be you, and I gave you the solution to your whining.
I played smart, and refused to use waypoints at lower levels. You get better experience by actually exploring the zone, and doing the dynamic events you run into. The only reason you should ever need to waypoint at a lower level is to get back to a town to repair, or take a break. By that time, you will have already made the 2-4 silver it takes to WP for an 80 and a lot more.
I’d tell your friend to stop wasting money on waypoints, and actually play the game; instead of hoping from heart to heart or whatever he is doing that needs him to be hopping around.
Sooo… while your friends run to the way point, and likely fight their way to it. You leave them behind, and teleport to the way point. Then come here and complain that you have to pay for something that was completely optional, when you had the choice to run with them and help them instead.
Seems legit.
Most definitely. I expect them to add it later on. It would be a fantastic addition and something that will allow guilds to get together and enjoy their time as one.
Ugh, the dungeon finder is the last thing this game needs. Right now, I am super happy that the servers have a community to them. People actually have to seek out groups (which really isn’t that hard since you can do 5 of any class).
Maybe a dungeon finder to the extent of ONLY searching for other people looking for a group would be nice.
All of that automated b/s that other games have, I do not want to see here…
Pretty certain you don’t get trait points past 80, but you still get skill points. I’ve collected about 30 since hitting 80.
ahh ezez thanks Endless :]
eww OP, take your terrible suggestions elsewhere.
I am quite happy with the fact that everything in the game poses ‘some’ type of challenge.
There is crafting, if you want to be useful for your team in WvW you can buy siege weapons, respecing, travel points, repairing, gathering. there are others.
To touch up on your dungeons,
I don’t think I’ve once, had to run around in cirlces and mindlessly kill anything. I guess, sure that could be a lazy boys method to get ‘some’ things down.
Have you tried actively using your dodging skills while in a dungeon? Have you tried condition removal management for yourself and party members?
Have you made it to ANY boss yet? O_o
What it sounds like you are explaining is, you jumped into a dungeon; had no idea how to play and cried about it here.
The ‘thrill’ of loot, as you knew prior to even buying the game wasn’t there. This is the thrill of being guaranteed an item after X amount of runs.
Don’t like those blues/greens/yellows you get from the chest? That’s fine, go make something better with them in the forge; that will be be a nice RNG for your work effort & “thrill”.
I do agree with some of your points, but I think GW2 Dungeons are some of the best, and most fun dungeons I have ever done. It’s so nice not going to a castle, to the throne room, then kill the king.
I really love the epic story it gives along the way, and the fact that you go through multiple paths, and it’s almost like doing a map completion.
abyss is a solid/true black dye
there is also a white
Ahh, thanks! Any idea where I can locate the explorer insignia design for 70+ rare/exotic?
Hi, I am an Armorsmith and looking for the magic find Insignia. Ideally for level 70-80, and preferably of rare or exotic type. Anyone able to help out? :O
I didn’t see a specific forum for game suggestions, so this seems to work.
Anyways, I would like to see some type of server invasion deal as I think that would be really fun. For all you PvP naysayers; don’t fret. I have your best interest at mind.
How it would work:
So WvW is supposed to be 2 week intervals, however; right now they are not. Once the times are adjusted, this would make the most sense.
In each Borderland there would be some type of building, or point that your server will need to take before you can invade into the other server. Once the point is taken, it will be unavailable for re-capture for 48 hours. During that 48 hours, you will be able to invade the opposing servers territory.
This territory would be restricted to 1 or 2 new maps, maybe a map for 1-40 and a map for 40-80. Players expecting and wanting PvP could come here for some new events, however; in order to be successful in those events, you would have to fend off invading players and vice versa. Perhaps players killed in this zone could drop Badges of Honor (just an alternative way to gain these tokens).
It would be a bonus for those who enjoy the “open world” pvp type aspect, as they would have a little of that in the PvP zones. It would not affect those who prefer to only PvE as they do not have to take part in the PvP areas, just as they don’t have to take part in WvW etc.
It’s a win for all parties, and adds some more fun to the game
You want to buy the Master Salvage Kit (yellow one) and as the others said, salvage 70+ rare/exotic.
I finished it right after a server restart.
Yeah, anti-farm script really pisses me off.
Yeah, curse Arena Net for making players explore more than just a few events. Evil jerks.
Kal, I think you skipped over what he said. >_<
He was looking for the best dye for a specific color. Not a general “best” dye.
past 30, it takes about 30-40 minutes per level, if you are actively doing events/hearts/etc. Pre-30 it’s about 15-30 minutes per level.
I would just browse through the dye list on the Trading Post and find the color that best suits your needs.
Sigh, I really wish people would stop trying to play this game like every other MMO. You just need to buckle down and learn the combat system. Once you do that, the dungeons are still a challenge, but they are not ‘impossible’ or ‘omg hard’ by any means.
Learning curve people, get used to it.
stacking one of any stat in this game is a brutal nono.
If you stack all toughness, you’re going to kitten your power, if you stack all power, you’re going to be a glass cannon.
Best way is to put some points into a few trees that you find best suited to your playstyle.
I personally put some points into my power, arms, defensive and discipline tree for Warrior. I still hit fairly hard, and can survive a lot longer than any glass cannon.
+1 to adding it. I find it silly that there is no dueling, but I guess smart to get the game out quicker.
Level doesn’t really matter, you are scaled to the area you are in and receive rewards items appropriate to your level.
You may get more karma in other areas, but you’re free to gain your Karma in any zone you wish.
As with any NEW game coming out, there is a learning curve.
If you were super mega awesome world #1 raider of MMONAMEHERE, that’s cool and all. This is Guild Wars 2 though, completely different style of combat.
Get used to the game, and things get MUCH easier. The first few explore mode dungeons we did we died a couple times learning the different fights / getting used to the combat system and learning the animations of the enemy).
After we did that, everything else seemed to be much easier.
There is almost always something that you can be doing to get to safety. If you die, you were either out of position, didn’t dodge or use an evade ability or you weren’t paying attention to the animation of the mob.
I am actually really quite happy with the difficulty curve of the explore dungeons. I’m really happy they are tuned to be a challenge, where deaths do occur.
Everything in this game is pretty much a gold sink..
Gathering, Crafting, Repairing, Can trade Gems, can be useful in WvW and buy siege weapons, can buy upgrades for your gear etc.e tec. etc
Ahh, see — I’m currently level 80 and was attempting to level armosmith/weaponsmith thinking that they would have an ultimate purpose end game for different design templates.
It seems like there is only 1 model for each of the types of metal (Copper/Iron/Steel/ etc), but none of which (imo) seem to have the astonishing artwork that those unique dungeon sets have, making them a much less wanted commodity.
I could be wrong, it’s just what I gather from looking at different guides.
Can anyone comment on whether or not there are multiple different sets per tier?
If you don’t get an item you want, why would you not try and utilize the economy to maybe trade your fellow players, or perhaps place it on the Trader to sell; and then buy what you want with your profit?
For me, the items I don’t want that are exotic go to my guild or friends, in return they give me the stuff they don’t want.
So I am curious to know the point of crafting in Guild Wars 2.
All of the weapons/gear/unique armor sets come from dungeons w/ tokens or karma vendors. So what would be the purpose of leveling a crafting discipline?
I would think yes, they are for the skins. It’s been stated time and time again that gear doesn’t really matter in this game. You hunt / buy the cosmetics of the item.
Some items will have the stats that you prefer, others will not.
