I fought an oPP thief last night on Mag BL he hit like a wet noodle and then stealthed away. Couldn’t be bothered to chase him. I know all your blobs run PVT gear but do your roamings groups run PVT aswell?

Based on your description you ran into our troll thief and fearless leader, and yes he can run into a zerg and survive but he can also whittle you down in a prolonged fight.

I had fun feeding oPP guys bags at NN late last night, shame they fell back to building two ballistas and a superior arrow cart against PUGs. Perhaps full zerk without group support wasn’t the best idea on my part but it’s just fun making really big numbers and forcing organized groups to peel and focus with a single skills use.

We were just trolling around to see how long it would take before you guys would come out with a somewhat larger force to get rid of us. So we waypointed out and we went to check on the SoR spawn area for fights.

First getting harassed by a bunch of roamers for 20 minutes or so and then get stomped by an [EE] group with a lot of pugs. I dunno, maybe [Die] should take that offer and drop down a few tiers to train.

Most of the thief changes I can totally understand. The thing that does surprise me however is that your focusing a lot on the vigor and stealth aspect of the class but at the same time you’re not addressing some of the the survivability against conditions. Also it just feels that a lot of initiative is being moved around to make the class even more creepjacker focussed.

Class is Class doing it for a few minutes is acceptable because everybody gets caught up but for 15-20 min. of spawn camping shows they don’t have class. I’ve never said I’m looking for fair fights I’m asking what you ask the big boys do all the time spread out and show your self. I thought for sure that roamers would never conform the current meta guess I was wrong. FYI never claimed that I was a good roamer that claim was what your guild claims I’ve just never seen it hold true for more than a few minutes (Only Exceptions is the RIOT guy and the one Mesmer)

I know my guild has no class on the battlefield, that’s what I expect from them. Killing peeps is what we play this game for, not to carebear stare at each other all day.

Let me put it another way – trying to get back to my guild and help them with a tower defence or open field battle is more important than spending five minutes trying to stay alive against players primarily built to kill me.

If I die fast I respawn fast so I get to my guild fast…….unless I meet roamers again ofc ;P

I know its hard to believe but fighting against roamers comes pretty down on my list of priorities.

I never said it was supposed to be your priority. It’s just really silly when you want to get back to a PPT objective, but we kill you and gain PPT for our server, and you didn’t even try to stop us. We still get PPT for stomps after all, its much lower than it was (sadly), but the free kills we get really add up… and those kills really shouldn’t be free.

A lot of the time, we end up camping a spawn just so people like that will fight us (because they have a group).

The other flip side of that coin (seeing as you brought PPT into the discussion) is while we are taking a tower, keep or even a camp, doesnt it seem a bit silly to just spawn camp or whatever it is you are doing to find your battles when you could be helping your server mates defend a objective?

Its silly that you want to fight but wont go to where we are fighting, you would rather wander in hope of finding some one instead of going to where you know definite action is. If your server mates are losing that defense, you are helping us gain those free kills you hate so much.

This was an argument we use to face against our fellow guilds back in the day, but this proves that many don’t understand the roaming philosophy.

Spawn camping does help because the following happens:

1) We kill you so there is less of you in your zerg for our zerg to fight.
2) It will demoralize people trying to get back to their zerg, especially pugs.
3) Usually most get fed up and group up trying to push out and actually give us what we want which is a good fight.
4) In some cases, we jump a commander trying to get back and we see the entire zerg go back to their WP to group up taking you off the battlefield for a couple of minutes.

They are small contributions compared to what we can do for holding bloodlust, but it is effective.

As for joining the zerg fight, sorry not going to happen. I have better uses of my time than joining a lagfest spamming 1 1 1 1 1 1 all day. If you guys like doing that go for it, just not the roamer’s mentality. Zergs have an importance, but so do roamer’s especially with the new bloodlust meta.

We just wish there were more T-1 roaming guilds on the other servers who like to fight so we can have our fun too. Zergs have all the fun. lol

Here is a classy response for spawn camping true class (Its barely acceptable to do even if you are completely even matched) This shows me even more that you’re looking to gank people not look for fights

A kill is a kill man, however we can get those stomps in. But it sounds to me that you’re just struggling with the meta and that you’re looking for a fair fight. This is tier 1 my friend, it just doesn’t happen that way…

Also you can point fingers at us all you want about spawn camping you but all you have to do is take a different exit and we’re out of your hair…

We do run solo or in really small groups, but a lot of folks switch the tags off… so you never know who it was and when it happened. Also it keeps the zergs from getting angry and calling in for help straight away

I play on SOR, and I am ashamed that we aren’t showing up to fight. I continue to fight to the last, including in Hills in BG BL last night. Held you guys off several times, including contesting the circle successfully 3 times.

They seem to have bunkered themselves up in Lion’s Arch. A particular group, IRON, has taken to picketing in front of the portals instead of going into WvW. Countermeasures do not seem to be needed.

The mission was a success, we can all enjoy a cold one now.

You’ll always fight players that are better then you, you’ll always run into players that run a flavor of the month setup that you’ll know you might have issues with. The game is designed around a rock-paper-scissors system, you’ll never have somebody that will win every single 1v1 fight but the game is also simply not designed for duels.

I think the biggest difference to all of this is our mentality compared to yours, you already give up before the fight has even started if you get caught in a 1v1 while we’ll at least give it a poke and see what we can do

I demand that from my players though, to at least give it a try and make sure they can stand on their own 2 feet. If they go down, try and see why and if there is a way to handle it better.

I also advice them to try and think ahead of time and not dwell on builds that are flavor of the month now. Most of those kind of builds that people run now come from roamers in the first place which then get introduced into larger guilds and we as roamers have to plan ahead of that already to counter our own builds.

Like next patch, I’m expecting a lot of condi-shaving and I’m already planning around that idea.

I personally think it’s just a mindset thing, the game isn’t designed to for the whole holy trinity aspect. If you’re stuck just playing a pure healing and boon setup then it sounds to me that somebody has done some horrible min-maxing.

Its how the meta is, yeah the lag and over zerging is a pain, I freely admit that, but when running in large groups it comes down to surviving. Boons, healing and not rallying the enemy are as important as damage. The holy trinity may not be here, but roles for support, condition removing, stunning etc have been put on classes for the group to become effective.

I probably play the only heavy support thief in tier 1, trying to make your team members better while offering support to them when they need it is indeed important. Being able to still handle yourself and not rely on others to always have your back is just a very important aspect of this game though. If you’re numbering yourself away as just pure support, you’re not helping your team but that is my opinion.

I could rant on about team builds for hours and how most of the big boy guilds run template like setups with a single commander shouting stuff at them. To sum it up, I personally just feel it doesn’t get the best out of players at all.

Even guilds like the mighty RG and your new server mates ZD run guild builds, but yeah you are right, they all have mediocre players and the only really skilled players are the roamers.

Some of our guild members are in multiple guilds, we’re not the guild that demands people to rep our guild name 24/7. Some of our roamers are officers/guildleaders of larger guilds and we discuss builds and strategies with these guys quite often.

I’m fully aware of how things work with ‘big boys’, the same rules apply however for the ‘small boys’.

The statement that’s being made though is that with larger numbers you’ll also have more dead weight. A lot of skilled big boy players can handle their own just fine and don’t mind running by themselves either. The dead weight is… well… dead weight.

If those big boy groups would trim the fat, they’d be even better and more effective.

I play more of a support role then really focusing on bursting people down. I’ve played these kind of builds for over a year and I’ve never come across another thief with a similar mindset that’s not in my guild. So I’m not the best person to ask for advice on if it works or not, it works for me because I do require all the stats.

I’m a huge fan of the buddy system, so I attach myself to somebody else and make them play better (act like a can-opener while cc’ing like crazy) or I try to get a lot of attention on me while the rest of my squad gets free play to kill. When my guildies get into trouble, I become the peeler and rezzer. If a fight goes downhill, I get myself in between the enemy and my guildies and kite the enemy around so my guildies can regroup.

I play sword/dagger with pistol/dagger and use several different suits for different situations but the suit I run the most is my celestial suit. Might stacking concept.

The current meta isn’t very forgiving to thieves. Conditions can be applied with a blink of an eye while removing them is put on cooldowns and running tanky setups with other classes can do just as much damage as a bursty thief. The meta is wonky.

I personally feel that thieves are being pushed by the developers into playing the creepjacker role.

We actually love the fact that you can’t see names. People that join my party normally want to trash talk after they got caught, they normally leave the party with an even bigger headache. It shouldn’t be possible to join, I hope they’ll fix it at some point but I’ll enjoy the banter in the meantime.

I came from a very competitive rated battleground scene in Warcraft, most players would just whisper you the most stupidest stuff in the middle of a fight. One guy got so angry with me for losing a game that he asked for my address and then told me what he was going to do to me, using some meat-hooks. He does have my address…

A lot of [oPP] guys run around tagless, there is a fair bit of pressure to be in a roaming guild in tier 1. We do gloat a fair bit but when we gloat it’ll be mainly towards guilds and players that we know can do a lot better and we hope they step up their game for the next fight.

Most people that get gloated at, come back a couple of minutes later to get revenge, it’s a strategy that not many people seem to understand

And for those who think we really chestthump that much, I’ve made over a 100 WvW videos with some pretty kittened stuff. I’ve never linked any of the videos because people here take things way too seriously and the forums would become an even bigger nagfest then it already is.

We haven’t played for a week due to the lag and queues. Same goes for our buddies from [RIOT]. Our community has been struggling to get the Bloodlust, we pop in for a few hours and we have a pretty good control over it during Na prime time with just 4 people.

So to be fair, I’m actually mocking my own server more then I’m mocking [Fear]. But it’s always interesting to hear what an enemy team has to say about the experience. If a bit of mudslinging happens then it only really makes things more entertaining. Everybody loves to do a bit of mudslinging !

Also the only thing that we really excel at is trolling each other.

You have this 30 man group trying to pin down a group of 3-4 players while running around and trying to cap orbs which they don’t feel like defending.

I know this is something we should really ask our own zergs, why they aren’t putting the pressure on but it’s more fun to hear it from the enemy
